No Palestinian hostages - they are prisoners in jail having committed criminal offences, given a trial by a democratic state and then sentenced.

I’m wondering given the USs support for Netanyahu Hamas has been holding back.
They did state earlier they would be releasing any Americans but I wonder if there has been further discussions on this.

CNN is reporting that “for the first time since the temporary truce between Hamas and Israel came into effect, an American citizen is expected to be on Sunday’s list of hostages set to be released.”

Earlier Haaretz reported that Hamas is also expected to release at least one hostage with Russian citizenship. It writes “According to … sources, the release is part of a deal between the Russian government and Hamas, who sent representatives to Moscow earlier in the war.”

Having read back over posts there seems to have been a rather ‘heated’ discussion on the nature or viability of those released from Israeli jails.
A slight derailment, perhaps this has caused this issue.
The first thread discussed all releases and the ceasefire arrangement. So I agree, as long as it doesn’t get derailed, everyone deserves a right to speak.

Have those wishing to discuss all those being released been thrown off….I really don’t know.

Thread 1 was started by another poster, whose user name I can't find. It was a broad discussion beginning with a query on whether Israel had refused to take hostages back. Not sure of whether the continuing thread changed direction, or of etiquette myself!

Hoping the ceasefire will be extended further.
But even then another 10 released per day would mean many days of ceasefire and I just can’t see that happening.
There will be men left behind.

Earlier today Hamas said they would stop fighting if all Palestinians held in Israeli jails were released but that really is never going to happen.

Thread 1 was about all releases. ( Plus talks on the state of the ceasefire agreement as a natural part of it )

Likewise let’s hope those evil Hamas terrorists don’t try to repeat the hideous atrocity they carried out October 7th. Now that was disgusting and would have meant those killed since would still be alive today. I wonder if they can sleep at night knowing their savagery caused this war and will hopefully see the end of their grip on the people of Palestine.

We should be grateful for small mercies and the release of the vulnerable but it is still all so sad.

It’s. Ery sad that the West Bank wasn’t also included in the ceasefire.
I find it unreal that this wasn’t agreed upon.
Perhaps it was discussed but not accepted
It was obvious without this inclusion that there would be increased focus on this area.
I feel for the Palestinians released that come from the West Bank, they have walked straight into a war.
