I’m slightly agog that a dog survived as a hostage. Presumably different cells or whatever they are act very differently to one another .

That is a hard read. I am glad she wasn't hit. I felt particularly sad knowing she was without an adult she knew and cared for her, for the last part of her horrible nightmare.

Emily, who turned 9 in captivity, was held with her friend Hila Rotem-Shoshani and Hila’s mother Raaya before the children were released last Saturday.
Raaya looked after Hila and Emily like they were both her daughters, Hand said. And the separation of Hila from her mother two nights before the girls were freed – in contravention of agreements made between Hamas and Israel – was “another step of cruelty,” he said.

She had been conditioned not to speak above a whisper and was crawling with headlice. She and other children were forced to run from house to house under gunfire during the Israeli bombing raids. She was also separated from her friend’s mother, who had been caring for her, two days before she was released.

Can you believe this? I am thrilled for her but just wait for " Hamas were so kind they let her keep her dog". Shame they killed so many other people's dogs.😡

The actions of the "public" around the poor hostages has been pretty disgusting too

Yesterday they allowed the hostage cars out into areas with civilians milling around and the cars were jostled and jumped on and had to stop. There were three years olds in the cars. The crowd were despicable. Hamas knew this would happen, just wanted to max it to the end.

Because it became a constant tit-for-tat. As soon as somebody mentioned how terrible it was for the Israeli hostages people started "oh but what about the poor palestinians why don't you care about them?"

And visa versa
But yes, I see your point that could well happen. I still don’t think it’ impossible to discuss both groups on the same thread though.

I think people derailing the thread should just be ignored. They obviously have no interest in trying to behave appropriately, and trying to reason with them will get nowhere.

Those poor innocent children have been psychologically tortured. And so many of them still have kidnapped family members - how can they even begin to recover? The pure evil I have read on social media today, people gloating and laughing at these children makes me feel utter despair.

I wonder how this will play out - will groups who normally advocate globally for children's rights stay schtum like certain feminist groups did in the wake of 7/10.

Most recent update I’ve seen is 9 women and 1 17 year old girl are being transferred at the moment, but transfer delayed as there is rioting around the cars with the hostages in. I can’t confirm any of this, but this source is generally reliable.

I saw a list this morning of names on a different group, but not going to post that one as I don’t think it’s a particularly reliable source.

Has anyone seen or heard anything, and can confirm/update?

9 women and one girl being released today apparently which means 8 children are still missing or being held.

I really hope the girl is Gali Taraschansky because she's only 13 and is being held without any family at all with her.

This is an interesting one. Hamas were gaming the agreement. Qatar were playing their sort of double game, whereby they stay close to Iran and host Hamas but also want to be 'western' and suck up to powers on the other side. Anyway Qatar are pro hamas but hamas weren't listening to them. Egypt not so much and Egypt stepped in and told Hamas that they will shut off tunnels from Gaza to Egypt if the deal didn't go ahead. Hamas leaders escape plan are the Egyptian tunnels so actually it turns out that Egypt has more leverage over hamas than Qatar, Apparently Hamas has walked into that one and didn't intend to expose a weakness that could be used against them. Caveat - this is internet speculation.

We don't know the picture of hostages yet. So many still have family left behind so they need to 'behave' themselves, they will also have been told what to say and what not to say or the other hostages will suffer. Many of the children released are only now finding out their parents have been murdered.
