Israelis held hostage (part 2)

I’ve seen that Hamas are claiming logistic issues causing delays tonight, I haven’t seen that it is not going ahead, so a waiting game at the moment.

Me also, its just hideous.

It's of course very plausible that the young family have been killed by an airstrike. But also plausible that Hamas are lying. Didn't they say a few weeks ago that around 50 hostages had been killed in air strikes? That seems untrue according to recent numbers published of those released and still held. So still hope that this is also untrue. But it would prrhaps be surprising if no hostages at all were hit by the strikes. IDF obv knew that was a risk from the start.

And why were the Bibas family in a position to be killed in an air strike? Because Hamas kidnapped them. Their death is still ultimately the responsibility of Hamas

I absolutely agree with this. They shouldn't have been there in the first place.

I do not think they have any control in this situation. US and Israel are stating that part of the hostage negotiation was meant to be red cross access to the other hostages, but red cross won't confirm or deny.

Nothing against them, but I don't have much faith in them in this situation.

I think of Naama every day. Poor girl.

There is no list yet for the other hostages that I have seen.

@Kaffeebitte I'm not sure at the moment, sorry :/ The girl who was raped was Naama Levy, and is unlikely to be released, as she is in the IDF. She is 19, and had just completed training a few days earlier to be an observational soldier (I think they gather information). This is from the Times of Israel "Levy is strong, say her family members. She’s a seasoned triathlete, used to the rigors of training and pushing past obstacles, traits that they hope are helping her withstand the trials, cruelties, and possible atrocities of Hamas captivity.
She’s also the great-granddaughter of Holocaust survivors and was a participant in the Hands of Peace project in the US, working toward peace between Israel and the Palestinians."

The Russian Israelis are Yelena Troponov 50 and Irene Titi 75.

@StarbucksSmarterSister I don't know how the Red Cross are allowing this.
I am now waiting for the usual suspects to say it's all a declaration of friendly intent and love and we have it all wrong.

Of course but the Israeli Govt also
made the decision to bomb Gaza knowing this was a risk. And if they return to bombing, they will do so knowing this risks any remaining hostages.

They're Israeli Russians - one a 50 year old woman, with her 73 year old mother.

I'm also pretty aghast that someone has sat on this news @StarbucksSmarterSister - how long ago was the last Israeli airstrike? 6 days? So someone has known that this family died and failed to pass that on. Diabolical. Even if Hamas didn't have them, who the hell would keep that fact to themselves for nearly a week?

This sounds awful but I really hope this is Hamas doing psychological propaganda (still abhorrent) and they are alive.

Israel Defense Forces: Two Israeli hostages handed to Red Cross, en route to Israeli territory

Israeli Defense Forces spokesperson Daniel Hagari has announced that according to information provided by the Red Cross, two Israeli hostages were transferred to the international humanitarian organization and “are on their way to Israeli territory.”

“Their release is in addition to the list of abductees scheduled to be released today,” he added.

Whether they were killed in an Israeli airstrike or they were killed by Hamas , they still died because Hamas took them hostage and took them to Gaza, if they hadn't they'd likely still be alive. There's not anything else to muse about it wherever you sit (and I'm usually nuanced) but with this I am very convinced who is responsible for their deaths. Watching the dead Palestinian babies filled me with rage at Israel, but this equally fills me with rage at Hamas.

I'm absolutely gutted if this is true. There have been three things that have really got to me in the past few weeks and this is one of them. The poor Dad/husband left behind. It's unimaginable.

Be interesting to see the names as I’m sure there are 6 children still hostage ( if you include the 2 youngest as not confirmed) and 2 18 year olds who they may count as adults.

if the 2 youngest are deceased then that leaves 4 other children under the age of 18 so who is the 5th?

I feel sick at the thought of these poor people.

These are the youngest 5 of whom could be on the list presumably :

So if there are 5 children being released, is one of them 18 but was 17 on abduction?
I’ve also read (but no idea how accurate) that there are 35 women remaining, so hopefully they will start releasing some of the younger women as well, particularly that poor girl who looked like she was raped.
Does the 35 number look right @EllaDisenchanted ?
