You both asked about numbers of Hamas who have been killed. I know that on October 7th Israel Times reported 1700 Hamas fighters were killed that day. Today I found this graphic, which suggests another 2k approx since that day. I think that's a conservative estimate though, there's also no explanation of who these 2k are, they just haven't been counted in the 15,482 civilians.

Early on I went on the Hamas website and they self reported approx 20,000 'members'. Not sure how accurate that is.

Someone displayed an Arabic copy of Mein Kampf in a display case. That's the level of hatred there.

It absolutely does not. Hamas or otherwise, some Palestinians are terrorists. Not all of them. Not the children.

I didn't know either. I knew that Palestian civilians had crossed the fences and engaged in the violence. That was confirmed by Channel 4 News a while back. But I didn't know they had also taken hostages, and I'd never heard of Islamic Jihad being involved until today.

I don't think that's fair if it's based on a report that shows a 100 or so civilians compared to the population of 2.3 million. That wouldn't even equal to 1% of the general population. They are also victims in this war
Also there's no way of knowing how many in there were Hamas or other groups dressed in civilian clothing.
I am also interested to know where its reported that some hostages are being held by normal civilians as I haven't seen that anywhere.

No, not at all. Which is why I was including every child, not just 1 in my post. Every child matters, that's why a ceasefire is so important.

It literally is unique to this conflict that a three year old who was being help by her dad watched her parents murdered then was taken hostage and driven back into Gaza. And has been held since then. Whilst the only surviving members of her family (her siblings) hid in a closet for 12 hours.

What happened to her did make me realise that many in the general population are involved. The celebration around the world was frankly sickening to see. Who celebrates rape.

I was really shocked today translating a Swedish report into English. I didn't know that one of the complications of negotiating the release of the hostages is that they weren't all taken by Hamas. Some of them were taken by Islamic Jihad and others were taken by groups of civilians.

Sure, if you want to phrase it that way it is unique for every child left orphaned and traumatised. Like I said, I hope a ceasefire is called soon and every child effected receives the help they deserve. No child deserves to lose their parents and be left alone 🙏
