He needs to move to Israel if he loves it so much instead of sitting comfortably in the USA.

I think most people would agree Hamas had committed war crimes. More and more people are becoming concerned the Israeli government are too. As for using buzzwords like genocide and ethnic cleansing- people are responding directly to what they see and read not only SM but also on the news and in papers. What would you call what is happening in Gaza? Collateral damage?

Someone starts a thread about anti-Semitism, you tell them to take it to the "Jewish board". People try to derail threads about anti-Semitism on that board, but that's fine because there's a humanitarian crisis.

I wasn’t telling anyone to do anything it’s just that people on this board will read new threads and probably comment on them from their particular angle as it were.

I did wonder whether the Jewish board would have less of that (and it probably would to be fair) and would be a better bet for those who don’t want Gaza mentioned.

I try to let those comments slide over me because I know they do mean political Zionism. But it needs clarifying.

However, another point to add...

1. Jews have been Zionists since they were enslaved in Egypt if you regard that as historical - so basically for almost the entirety of Jewish history.
2. you cannot take Zionism out of any traditional Judaism. The Jewish religion is a closely knit connection between the people Jews), the land (Israel) and God. It's intrinsic.

In the modern liberal Jewish movements there is a bit more of a disconnect from Israel and a focus on going good in the world in general. However important prayers are still directed to Israel.

And you have very small sects of Ultra Orthodoxy such as Neturai Karta who are religiously Zionist but believe only God can bring a Jewish state, not politics. And for that reason are againstbthete being a political Jewish state. They are the ones seen at many anti Israel demonstrations with an NK website address on their placards, but they are extremely 'far out there' in terms of Judaism.

Every rocket they fire, every suicide bomber they send, is all with the same aim of ethnically cleansing Jewish people from that region.
