Be aware of misinformation seen regarding Palestine

There's a lot of misinformation/propaganda spreading around and this thread is to raise awareness of the ones circulating. Here's one for example:

The videos I've seen were all of people shouting "kill all the jews". That isn't peaceful!

A few friends of mine attended the marches and they also said it was peaceful. I saw their videos too.
Unfortunately a lot of people misunderstand the reason behind the marches. They're not hate marches as the lovely Cruella de Braverman said it was. They're peaceful marches calling for the ceasefire. It's not about religion or race but it's a humanity call. Sadly if you're pro Palestine it is mistaken for being antisemitic.

The videos I've seen were all of people shouting "kill all the jews". That isn't peaceful!

The saying “the first casualty of war is truth” has never been more true on BOTH sides of this conflict. You are quite right to call for caution but let’s not pretend the propaganda is one-sided.

Australia has serious racism problems. The current conflict has just pointed that at Arabs/Muslims and Jews. My grandmother lived there for a bit years ago. She was appalled at some of the stuff she saw and heard regarding their indigenous population let alone immigrants of colour.

People are so depressing sometimes. Poor bloke, going after peoples livelihoods is horrid. Let alone death threats.

@MrsTerryPratchett let’s be honest you don’t really know do you. If you follow any Jewish SM sites you’ll see that anti semitism is a bit of a free for all now. All and sundry are quite open in their disdain, using this conflict to express their feelings about Jews. Some of the stuff going on in Unis is disgusting. And folk suggesting that there is a bias against Palestinians are deluded. Literally every thread on this board is pro Palestinian and anyone who thinks differently is rounded on pretty quick.

Yes, the surprisong thing to me is the stance the US government and UK are taking in opposition to the very high level of pro Palestinian feeling in the West. The Guardian, for instance, has run an article practically every day criticising the invasion of Gaza and blaming Israël for the failure to reach a political settlement.

Nobody who joined marches across the globe for any cause had much power. That's the point of a peaceful protest. You decided to respond to my post which you could easily have ignored, so I am answering your response.

South African Apartied began unravelling when the world showed its disdain for such practices by protesting and speaking out on the hypocrisy of Thatcher and others who supported it.

The point is, we need a cease fire now and that is the message I'm pushing. Hypocrisy will not be ignored no matter how harsh it sounds to those not used to being called out on their behaviour.

I replied to you not understanding why mumsnet deleted a previous post of yours. The reason I replied to that was because you were referencing Hitler as part of a rant about being deleted etc

So nothing to do with the conflict, marches or Israel. Just your reference to Hitler after a different post of yours got deleted.

No idea why you are talking to me about other stuff or going on about a ceasefire it was never part of our conversation. Hence my last post to you.

I can promise you that I currently own no weapons of any sort or any power to make a ceasefire happen. Really doubt anyone here has weapons or the ability to make a ceasefire happen too. Therefore no idea why you keep repeating yourself.
