The BBC have just reported that the IDF have entered the hospital and are targeting Arab speakers and medics.

This is misinformation, according to the Reuters report that the BBC were supposedly quoting, the IDF were bringing in Arab speakers and medics.

My guess is there are financial interests involved.

I think the explanation was that some of the bodies turned out to be Hamas not Israeli.

I have to say, I'm not sure this is purposeful misinformation. I think they genuinely thought it was 1400 but as they're getting through the mountains of bodies, they're finding they were wrong. I guess some were so badly brutalised they looked like they were multiple bodies 😔 Can't even begin to imagine what a state their bodies must be in for the number to reduce like that.

See, I'm pro-Israel and whatever, but I'll never understand why what's going on in the ME is of such importance to the UK that politicians are being fired for their opinions. Why can't they just state their opinions but then go on with working for their own country? I honestly will never understand it. They might want a ceasefire but will they also help fight poverty in their own back yard? If so, keep them in

In other news, I have just seen (firstly on social media, and then cross-referenced with mainstream media) that Keir Starmer is set to sack MPs from his shadow cabinet who are backing a ceasefire. This is a mess.

Well that's funny, because she has personally attacked me on another thread (yesterday). And, among other wild accusations, told me I'd never posted on MN before! It was disappointing, as I recognise and respect her name from threads we've both contributed to. There was me thinking that all these words, my drops of wisdom were being compiled into a little volume that MN would one day offer to readers as a Xmas recommendation. Ah well.

What a fucking idiot. How embarrassing for him and all those cheering him on. He’s not even forming complete sentences to spread his hate. He may as well have just stood there and chanted “hate hate hate” over and over and had the same reaction.

But back to the topic at hand, it is obvious there is going to be misinformation being spread during a conflict, especially in the social media era. But the access to information at the tips of our fingers also means that it is very easy to check multiple sources for the same stories in order to verify information.

Personally, I choose to take my information from people on the ground first and headlines second. Gazan journalists like Hind Khoudary and Bisan, amongst others, are all reporting live from the ground. It’s not difficult to read between the lines and see what is happening, particularly when you cross reference this with mainstream media sources.

On the other hand, I have found it difficult to find first-hand Israeli accounts on social media to compare with others. The only things I seem to find are good-looking IDF soldiers doing TikTok dances. If anyone can point me in the direction of some first-hand accounts I can cross-reference with, it would be appreciated.

Well that was quite a fumble wasn't it. No idea who that is but guessing he isn't normally a public speaker. What an idiotic thing to say. It does make you question what people say at home and if this is what he really thinks.

Bernadotte-There was no ceasefire untill October 7. Israel had made several air raids on Gaza, West Bank and even Lebanon several times this year alone. And that's not including all the raids against Palestinians on the ground (remember the Al-Aqsa mosque raid in April?). I quick google search was all it took to find that out.

A - I don't hate Israel.

B - I can read.

No matter how much you shout and scream that Israel is the vunerable one it does not stick.

Since 2008 approx 18,600 Palestinians in Gaza and the occupied West Bank have been killed in conflicts with Israel.

Since 2008 approx 1,500 Israelis were killed in conflict with the Palestinians.

From 1967 to the Oslo Accords Israel had taken over 3/4s of the West Bank - prime agricultural land.

I won't go on and on.

Israel is not vunerable.

It has $3.8 billion a year from the USA - a really nice chunk of change.

It has the backing of every important government in the world right now.

When I see numbers like 18,600 vs 1,500 I think yeah - just words.

The Israelis are doing the action though - actually wipeing the Palestinians of the map.
