Ethnic cleansing

Netanyahu has confirmed that Gaza will be occupied by Israel when the bombing stops, with no role for the UN.

Now tell me how this isn't ethnic cleansing ?

Ugh, I cringe at the racism from Israel here.

x.com/lowkey0nline/status/1724947356930441518?s=46

Not sure if my link will work but an Israeli singer performing for IDF with lyrics "Gaza wh*re" and using the term black woman in a derogatory racist way.

But of course, we can't say anything negative about Israel because... anti semitism.

Sorry for the massive edit. Didn’t think you’d be so quick to respond.
Anyway that’s my reasoning. The attacks of October 7 were too extensive to be the work of a random mob.

Reallifelurker · 16/11/2023 19:50

What I'm saying is that people who look like ordinary civilians are taking part in Hamas activities. You're saying they're Hamas, whether they look like civilians or not.

You see the problem?

Not really. Are Hamas meant to be wearing some form of uniform? I thought they were meant to be hiding amongst/blending into the civilian population. If they are in that hospital are they marching around sticking out like a sore thumb? I really wish they were that dumb honestly..

Look Hamas are the ones who orchestrated and carried out this attack. Blaming the civilians is just propaganda. As I said before it had to be planned. How the hell could the Israeli secret service/military be caught off guard by a disorganised mob. They are not that incompetent.

If you read the article below it shows how Hamas tricked Israel into a false sense of security and that the men who perpetrated that attack actually trained for it

No, I didn't think you would.

Or, unfortunately, also seen taking part in "Hamas" activities. Maybe those are not civilians? My point is, it's hard to tell. I wish you were right that Hamas went around with big badges saying "baddy." It would make life a lot easier all round.

The fighting forces of Hamas are estimated as being between 30,000 and 40,000 in number. They wear military fatigues and carry weapons.

The remainder of the populace is not armed.

Dropping a bloody great bomb on a refugee column, because there are men included and - who knows - some of them might be in Hamas? Is not any sort of legal excuse, or justification under international law.

Even if one of them is armed, killing dozens, scores or hundreds of non-combatants is illegal as being unproportionate under the internationally agreed norms and laws of war.

Not to mention being amoral and fucking evil.

I have certainly been encouraged by countries making peace with Israel recently which perhaps may have been the fear of Hamas who are not keen Israel continues to exist.

"After several Arab-Israeli wars, Egypt was the first Arab state to recognize Israel diplomatically in 1979 with the signing of the Israel-Egypt Peace Treaty. It was followed by Jordan with the Israel-Jordan Peace Treaty (1994). In 2020, four more Arab states (the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan) normalized relations."

If we could get Saudi Arabia to do so next we might help prove Hamas has truly lost, Israel could cease being under the constant attack it has been for decades and people could live in peace.

@Xenia
If Israel continues its ruthless military occupation of the Palestinian people it won't matter how many peace treaties it signs with its neighbors - problems will persist.
But maybe that's Israel's grand plan: annihilate the Palestinians and then sign peace treaties with other Arab countries.

Alcemeg · 14/11/2023 08:30

This 'self-defence' line is balderdash.
I used to think that about Israel too, until 7 October 🤯

The civilian men are the ones seen on news footage, trying to get away from the Hell, with their wives, children etc.

I certainly accept the comment that each side in this takes actions and those then have consequences. My point was a fairly neutral one and when democracies are attacked and war is declared then countries like the UK, USA and Israel act accordingly. War is horrible, brutal and lots of people die.

@Xenia
Except Israel is not some innocent democracy. It is the occupying power in this conflict. The West Bank and Gaza have been under Israeli military occupation for decades - the Israeli army is present there controling every aspect of peoples lives, movements, etc.

As the military occupier, Israel's actions against the Palestinians cannot be described as "self-defence". An occupier by definition is in an offensive, not defensive, position. Israel has been bombing Gaza regularly for decades. This conflict did not begin on October 7th. This 'self-defence' line is balderdash.

I feel sorry for the women and children whose fate is linked to men who literally can't be told apart from violent terrorists.

Hamas fighters wear military fatigues and carry AK-47s and RPGs, they like to flaunt who they are and throw their weight about. That's what usually distinguishes them from civilian men, who are mostly hunkering down with their families, wherever they can.

The civilian men are the ones seen on news footage, trying to get away from the Hell, with their wives, children etc.

Honestly, I wish I could wave a wand and create a safe space for both innocent Gazans and Israelis.

Most women want to live on this ancestral land and not be forced to move to another country without right of return. Many are willing to lose their lives given what happened to their ancesters in the Nakba.

But isn’t it 780 non combatants based on this.

Not belittling it but once we take out the number of people killed by IDF by mistake than it probably is more like half ?

We have no idea how many people were killed in the crossfire and most survivors say Hamas were responsible for the vast majority of deaths (and of course they recorded themselves doing much of it). Also - more to the point - it doesn't matter who killed them, the dead were mostly still civilians, not "active IDF soldiers" which is the point I was replying to.

Given that Hamas leaders are not short of a few bob and have their base in other countries, I don't think it's beyond the realms of reason that a genuine evacuation of women and children, in good faith, could have been negotiated somehow. The trouble is that Hamas don't operate in good faith and don't give a shit about Gazans.

I agree @Alcemeg , negotiations would have been a better option. But Netanyahu the war monger preferred to carry out his far-right project to remove Palestinians from the region, i.e. ethnic cleansing. He is the one who refused to negotiate:

A genuine evacuation ? As in they’d be allowed the right to then return by Israel ?

AS IF !

that’s the ideal scenario isn’t it ? All the Arab countries take all the pesky Palestinians that keep banging on about human rights and self determination so that Israelis can “return” to the promised land and Gush Katif ??

Your numbers are out of date. It’s 1200, and over half were active IDF soldiers

1166 have so far been identified, 327 were soldiers. That is nowhere near half, much less "over half".

Hamas brought all this down on the heads of its people. We reap what we sow in life.

Well, the anti Palestinian bias and hatred is strong in that post, isn't it?

What has Israel sown, by constant illegal expansion and expropriation of Palestinian land, for their own to take over and live on? It wasn't done with cuddly, fluffy kid gloves, it was done by violence.

Gaza is less than a quarter of the size it was in 1967. Where is the other three quarters of it? Illegally subsumed into Israel.

I absolutely despise Hamas and denounce what they did a few short weeks ago, but why do you expect the Palestinians to be brutalised and throw off their land and not to react?

Xenia ·

Hamas brought all this down on the heads of its people. We reap what we sow in life.

So, by this statement are you saying that the dead Palestinians that are collateral damage, is ok, because they were deserving of it? We reap what we sow?
@xenia can you please clarify? I believe several of your posts have been deleted, so it is a bit hard to follow your post and the context you wrote it in.

Desertrose2023 · 13/11/2023 14:15

More “human shields” that are apparently collateral damage worth accepting in the quest to eradicate Hamas and make Israel safe (aka the ethnic cleansing of Gaza).

Take a good hard look at these children. Their inevitable deaths are on Israel’s hands.

if I hear the “human shield” crap one more time I will scream. Even if you buy that pathetic justification for what Israel is doing it doesn’t excuse Israel’s actions.

the whole point of a human shield is that you’re meant to care about the human shield. You’re meant to ensure no harm comes to the human shield. Especially when the human shields are children or hospital patients or doctors!!

people have died trying to flee north Gaza, they are leaving on donkeys walking for hours and still being bombed on the way.

"Surely Hamas [...] could have found a way of helping women, children, babies, elderly, etc etc etc to reach safety if [...]instead of encouraging them all to stay right where they are" - @Alcemeg

And where could they go to reach safety, Alcemeg? Did you not hear the statement from the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA)? They said "no place is safe in Gaza".

Keep blaming Hamas for everything. Keep defending Israel's war crimes.

Where did I say "in Gaza"?
