"Israeli soldiers claim to have found an AK47 and grenades hidden behind an MRI scanner during a raid on the Al Shifa hospital.
Lieutenant Colonel Jonathan Conricus, spokesman for the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) exhibited the weapons he claimed belonged to Hamas in video footage purportedly taken inside the hospital.
Other pictures show guns, ammunition and body armour which the IDF said were also found in the raid by its elite Shaldag unit and 36th division.
“These findings unequivocally prove that the hospital was used for terror, in complete violation of international law,” spokesman Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari said.

If Israel built the tunnels under the hospital, why would Hamas use them? It doesn't make sense, they would know they'd be discovered as Israel would have the original plans of when they built the hospital and tunnels.

It's been 24 hours and Hamas themselves have said they have hundreds of miles of tunnels. The IDF don't owe the media massive a super fast explanation they owe a thorough one.
As long as Israel keep up dialogue with Qatar, America and other nations I remain every hopeful they are getting closer to the hostages. Especially the babies and the lady who will have given birth.

@notsoready4school the BBC made a good point. What the IDF have shown so far is not much in terms of proof and if they had more should they not show it considering the huge criticism they have recieved on the Al shifa raid.

Hopefully this too little too late gesture will help the babies who haven't already died due to the Israeli government fuel blockades. Unfortunately I'm not hopeful.

I think I'd "kick off" if the IDF treated me like that. I don't imagine they quickly ascertained those men weren't in Hamas then let them go.

There is still fuel because rockets are still being fired on Israel. Mobile phones are clearly still being charged.

Men between 16-40 is to screen out Hamas members and the people most likely to kick off and turn a search into a fight.

Firing shots in the air is not ideal but this is a war in the middle east, not closing time down the pub. The Palestinians fire guns in the air for most of their celebrations so it's hardly new to them.

I assume they had their reasons, I mean it would be in their favour to allow that so there must be a good reason they didn't.

Examples: when they entered they could have been ambushed.

Then if he was injured in cross fire they would be criticised for the death of an independent reporter.

Maybe they know something about him that made him not the right person.

Maybe they don't want other people telling them how to do their job.

And it doesn't matter what evidence they provide, the haters will still say it was made up of planted. Even if he'd gone in with them, people would say they edited his footage or they had snuck in and planted the evidence beforehand or something.

What’s wrong with allowing the camera in following the IDF as it happens.

Today, a BBC presenter said that Reuters said that the IDF were targeting people in the hospital including medical teams as well as Arab speakers.
What Reuters actually said was that the IDF had medical teams and Arab speakers accompanying them into the hospital.

The BBC has now apologised.

What has happened is bad enough, without people stirring up more hatred by reporting things that didn't even happen.
That is just irresponsible.

It's just so strange because his report was 3 days ago, so on Sunday, and on Sunday I was watching ITV news who had a neurosurgeon on the phone, Dr Marwan Abusada. He is the one who sent the pic of the babies on a bed to Mads Gilbert. He said that they could hear gunshots from outside the compound (it's a 22 acre site) but not within the hospital, that there was no firing in the hospital. And he also sounded very calm and relaxed, which is very strange given the situation you describe that snipers were aiming through hospital windows? And that nowhere else reported the IDF entering the actual compound until today?

Something like a nurse being deliberately shot at during the course of their work, you would think would be reported more widely, no?

If they were so sure of clear evidence they should have allowed independent verification. Why wouldn’t you, especially as they are losing support.

Hamas and others suggested this but Israel declined.
With their past history of falsifying information ( see Queens Uni professor report etc ) why would anyone believe anything that only comes from the IDF / Israel.

They are still expelling reporters having just today sort the removal of an Al Jazeera reporter living opposite the hospital after he reported on what was happening

So, they had an independent witness right there. Opposite the hospital. They knew where he was, no long wait for some UN official to turn up. But instead of inviting him in to witness the actions of the IDF they asked him to leave. That seems the actions of someone who wants to hide something.
