The cenotaph and poppy sellers

Hi, would anyone mind explaining to me why the media seems to be portraying that remembrance commemorations are being targeted by pro-palestinian protests? I don't really know enough to know how the two things are linked.

I think it could be viewed as disrespectful to hold the march on a weekend where Britain is remembering its own dead.
Doesn't really help the cause with the wider public either.
My opinion, don't expect everyone to share it but like it or not, many do outside of the London/twitter/social media bubble.

It was never the case though. The rumours were deliberately spread to cause outrage. Regardless marching for an armistice on armistice day seems like a sensible link.

The remembrance service is on Sunday, this march is on Saturday. However, Saturday is the 11th so officially Remembrance Day and there were rumours the march route was planned for the Cenotaph however this is now confirmed not to be the case but it has still caused a heck of an argument in the media and among politicians.

Because they're stirring it up. The only explanation is they want violence. Witness Braverman's op Ed in the Times yesterday when she managed to somehow insult all of Northern Ireland.

Regardless the reports about attacks on poppy sellers have been shown to be baseless (see the statement from the police about the alleged brutal attack in Edinburgh Waverley).
The route of the March doesn't pass the Cenotaph. Various far right groups will be at the cenotaph on Saturday as they're not invited to the service on Sunday.

Yes I thought it was just happening every Saturday. I just didn't know if the cenotaph was linked in some way or if it's just the media making a fuss.

The marches are happening very week as the bombing is happening every week.

My understanding is that the protestors have selected that date to march and are refusing to change it.

I have no idea why they've chosen that date, whether it's linked or coincidence.

But we all know the media likes to put a spin on things and whip the great British public into a frenzy.
