Number of Palestinians killed in Israeli attacks on Gaza over 10,000 😡

It's not antisemitic to say that the killing of tens of thousands of Palestinians is disproportionately and completely and utterly wrong.
The way many members of the Israeli government have spoken about Palestinians recently is unspeakably vile. Horrifying.
No-one has even tried to justify the Hamas attack. No-one has mentioned wanting Jewish people to suffer. The villains here are not Jews or Israelis, it is Hamas, the IDF and the Israeli government. All have committed atrocities.

The clear antisemitism on this thread is shocking.

And people think Israel going after Hamas is awful. I just didn’t get the same vibe when the western world went after two whole nations to get to Al Qaeda. Yes, there were protests, but nothing like the same anger. When Jews are killed, people always look for justification and lack empathy: it is tragic.

Israel can’t afford to go in softly given Hezbollah on their other border and Hamas hiding among civilians.

It is a tiny country with a population of only 9 million.

By implication: this means - I am an engineer (among other things) by training, so I can maths - "2% will not". That would be, roughly about, the equivalent of Hamas having murdered some ~180k people on 7 October, relative to population size.

Also, do you have any idea how extremist and, yes, colonialist, "Palestinians will be better off - once we have let the people who have been killing, displacing, imprisoning, torturing and dehumanising them for decades do their thing" sounds? And how come that would never be acceptable to Palestinians?

As for your paternalistic lecturing me as to "what war is like": I have been to a war. This particular one, as a matter of fact!

The IDF were quite happy to be shooting unarmed 10-year-olds even 20 years ago. Unfortunately for me, I have vivid memories of accidentally becoming a witness to it!

It is not a "tragedy" when it is the deliberate and/or you have just dehumanised people to a degree that you no longer give a shit when they die.

Israel could bomb Gaza so there was not a living soul left. They won’t because that is not their aim.

Hamas couldn’t do the same to Israel, but if they could, they would. They have stayed it very clearly.

The Palestinian people having been facing atrocities for decades by Israel. They will never be treated fairly, it's not Hamas keeping them in an open air prison and murdering their children. You are making it sound like they should be grateful? Have you seen Gaza right now?? You think the murder of children and the total destruction will ever be forgotten? They are without food or water or electricity, how is this humane and how do you condone it!

we shall see… I really doubt there will be a happy future for Palestinians and I can also see that a new hamas will be around. Also who is going to be this new government that will protect the Palestinians from Israel ?

It isn't just MNers calling it genocide, it's being used increasingly more. I can't say I disagree, it's gone far beyond an act of defence.

On the other side, Hamas have clearly stated their intention of wiping out every Israeli. I don’t understand why people cannot understand that Israel have every right to take Hamas out completely after the atrocity they committed.

Even the other Arab nations and Hezbollah are not doing much beyond gestures, as they know Hamas went too far.

I don't even agree that it is genocide. In the examples I gave above, Treblinka, Babi Yar, etc. were genocide. Srebrenica was genocide. Armenia was genocide. Rwanda was genocide. Bombing Hiroshima and Hamburg targeted civilians but was not genocide. Bombing northern France was not genocide. Killing lots of civilians is not necessarily genocide. The Palestinian population, even inside Israel itself, has grown massively over the last few decades. It's funny that those people who think Jewish people run everything and are all-powerful oppressors also think that Jewish people are genocidal but just really, really incompetent at it.

I really want this situation to end, but it is on Hamas to end it. ISIS used to strap suicide vests on children and send them to their deaths. Hamas has essentially strapped a giant suicide vest over Gaza.

Hamas leaders are amongst the richest Muslims in the world, second to ISIS - in the billions. Each leader is worth a couple billion. Each. The aid given to Gaza goes to them - not to new hospitals, not to new schools, not to regeneration. A tale as old as time.

They are frequently photographed on private jets, branded gear, laughing, smiling....and they have said Gazian blood spilled "is a necessity" - their election promise was to "destroy Israel", which they have fulfiled, but they do. Not. Care. About. Gazanites.

The attacks of October 7th were absolutely awful, outrageous acts. However that doesn't justify Israel's continuous, indiscriminate bombing. It feels disturbingly like ethic cleansing.

@Newbutoldfather oh and the reason they haven't completely obliterated Gaza YET is because they don't want the west to turn on them. Netanyahu was already under investigation for corruption and there were calls for him to be removed and charged. He is not a man who is trustworthy at all.
