yesterday I saw one of children playing inside their home and then running away when they heard the sounds of bombing.
I read somewhere that the drones also fly quite low and often in the early hours of the morning which is affecting the victims.

yes clearly Israel doesn’t trust the UN. That’s why it’s killed more than 100 of their staff in 8 weeks and keeps bombing their schools and shelters. Or are we blaming Hamas for their murders too ?

@braticus thank you. We’ve seen the collapsed buildings and the literal bombing of entire neighbourhoods yet it’s the same ‘I don’t agree/believe the figures’

People get upset seeing footage of children suffering. And there is footage of child after child suffering in Gaza, and many more to come. Of course people are distressed and it is the pinnacle of absurdity to tell people they should not be. Or gaslighting perhaps - 'yes, you are seeing thousands of images of death and torture, but go back to your knitting you silly woman. You don't understand these things.' Ugh.

I don't know how anyone can still say Israel is justified. Seriously. It is beyond doubt they've gone way too far in retaluation and are not a civilised country. It's about time sanctions started now. Possibly worse than Russia with the way they train their soldiers to behave. It is extremely shocking. And makes real politik so clear, UK and USA will stand by Israel no matter what it seems.

@Alltheprettyseahorses The death and suffering of the Palestinians is plain to see. Video after video of death and destruction perpetrated by Israel. The death toll is likely higher than is currently being reported. Gaza looks like a wasteland thanks to the IDF carpet bombing. Again there is shitloads of video evidence. You choosing not to look doesn't make it any less true.

Yes, the role of the Hamas government needs to be seriously examined and it is not derailing to do so nor can it possibly be accused of being deletion-worthy. An echo chamber like this benefits nobody.

I wish mumsnet would do something about these threads. They just seem so salacious with their competitive trauma and overwrought grief over events 3000 miles away that almost pale into insignificance when compared with other horrors going on that don't get a thread, never mind a whole board. People I know are very distressed about the suffering in Gaza, but they say what can I do? They worry about their children, paying the bills and keeping their jobs. They give money if they can, sign petitions, some attend vigils and protests. It's a collective trauma to see such horror and be unable to do anything about it.

How long will it take to rebuild hospitals? Will they have access to mental health services? Schools?

I watched a video of a boy having his head stitched with no anaesthesia and it was heartbreaking. We hear about the death tolls but imagine all the various injuries that these poor people have suffered. Life long injuries. And the mental anguish I can’t even comprehend.

The UN have asked israel repeatedly to give them access to investigate this and have stated it needs to be recorded and documented accordingly. But israel are ignoring them and not responding. Surely if they want UN backing, this is something they should allow.
