Anti Semetism IS happening

What nonsense. Never in my life have I met a Muslim who is anti-Christian. People will debate why they think their religion is the correct one but I’ve never even seen this get remotely heated. It’s not acceptable, but on the rare occasions I’ve seen antisemitism it is always in relation to Palestine and Israel. Innately my arse.

@Bergmum people march because the UK government is a strong supporter of Isreal and has influence. What influence does it have on Hamas? None.

Nobody is claiming that Saudi is exactly a liberal democracy! Also: everyone knows that expats in Saudi generally take a deal of "insanely good pay for accepting that Saudi sort of sucks!"

FWIW, I am an out and proud atheist! I have lived on the West Bank as well as in Jordan. Any time anyone asked - assuming I must be Christian based on my origin - I said "no, actually, I am an atheist!".

Worst thing that has ever happened to me as a result: people insisted on arguing with me about why I was wrong!

I am not saying Islamism does not exist! What I AM saying is that it is just insanely racist to equate all inhabitants of all majority Muslim countries as Islamist or a whole religion and all its adherents as "innately" hostile towards everyone else.

@Cropcycle I'm so sorry for what you're going through. I was shocked when I studied English Lit by how endemic antisemitism is - from Oscar Wilde to T.S. Eliot. It has never gone away. I hope this violence ends soon, and that we all support our Jewish friends and communities through it.

But most people on mumsnet seem to think that Israel is an apartheid, genocidal terrorist state too.
So if you can't march for Hamas to release the hostages by the same token you can't march for Israel to "Free Palestine" whatever the hell that even means.

Not rascist. More factual. My father worked in Saudi Arabia for many years. Try being a Christian there. Our religious tolerance is being tested. And yes European anti-semitism is precisely why Israel has to exist.

As a British Jewish woman I can confidently say that antisemitism has always been here. It bubbles away under the surface, raising its head when there’s a rise in conflict. The current war is a whole new level of horrific on every level. The pictures coming out of Gaza are heartbreaking. The Jewish person you see walking home, isn’t responsible for the suffering of innocent civilians in Gaza. People are rightfully angry in the face of such a nightmare, and all Jews are seen as guilty by association and deserve everything they get. It’s always been the case.

Im 62 and I’ve never felt this unsafe or more vulnerable ever.

Why don't all these peace loving people who love Jews attend the rallies calling for the release of the Jewish civilians kidnapped into Gaza?

I meant people who are marching, who speaks whataboutry etc etc are unknown people to you Jewish groups. When you don't know them , better not to tag with Anti- Semitic. But I know it's tricky.

That is absolutely terrifying. France seems to have more attacks like this than does the UK, but it must be a frightening time for Jewish people everywhere. I don't think there's a description of the assailant yet, so better not to assume their ethnic group, I would think.

No one is condoning Hamas atrocities. Everyone is appalled by what happened on 7th Oct.

Sadly I've seen so many posters on MN in all but using exact words to excuse what hamas has done. They 'whatabout' instead of calling it out as a henious and terrorist act
