Anti Semetism IS happening

I have seen Zionist Jewish people spell it ‘Isreal’. It’s just a spelling mistake. I have seen pro-Palestinian people write ‘palastain’ etc. Maybe it’s a language thing, a LD thing or just a poor spelling thing. It’s not something who really cares about issues focuses on.

@Fallenangelofthenorth Purple is OBSESSED with coming into every thread and using any means possible to distract or shut down any discussion regarding the Palestinian people. I must admit though that Isreal hurts my eyes, I've even seen some of the Jewish posters spelling it this way and being concerned about anti Semetism. However I've no idea if they have any form of SLD, so I would never be so ableist to give a "spelling lesson".

I am Jewish and similar to you but opposite have Muslim friends and colleagues.

The truth is we all have a lot in common in many ways, especially when it comes to hate crimes. I know currently this is horrific for Jews but long term it will get pretty serious for Muslims here too.

A 80 year old jewish holocaust survivor lady was arrested in Islington, for calling out Israel and calling it a nazi terrorist state for its indiscriminate bombing on Gaza. Is she anti semetic too?

Basically the same posters will come on any thread talking about antisemitism even if the conflict isn't actually being debated on the thread. They then tell everyone that x has it worse, whatabout x & x happening etc. Even though not relevant to the thread.

Tell everyone they have no empathy and are evil people for talking about something else or something like that.

Oh and often make out they have seen no antisemitism on marches or it is one a hundred people or something blah blah blah.

More or less exactly the same posters every time doing various posts which contain one or more of the above.

Hard to know if they truly have no empathy for others apart from Gazens or are derailing because Jew haters and don't want people to feel sorry for Jews or they just lack a basic understanding of what is appropriate behavior a thread

Muslim here from a long line of Muslims. We’re all law abiding British citizens. Disgusted about what Hamas has done. We don’t support Hamas. Never have. Never will. A few of us have gone to protest but that is not because we are antisemitic. Some of us have Jewish friends. Others have Jewish colleagues. We are all keeping in touch with eachother and trying to support as much as we can.

I have noticed a lot of Islamaphobic comments on social media recently. Well, it’s always been there, just how antisemitism has always been there. The average person isn’t Islamaphobic or Antisemitic.

Unfortunately, it’s so easy online to spew hate anonymously. I wish it would stop.

Noicant. Thank you. There is no place for racism towards any ethnic group. We need to believe someone when they say they are experiencing racism and stand with them not minimise or justify it.

How do you "look very Jewish" if you aren't religious (so I'm assuming you aren't wearing particular clothes or any outward 'markers' signifying you as a Jewish person)? I've seen a number of Jewish posters saying this now. Genuine question BTW.

I am not going to describe my racial characteristics to explain in what way I look Jewish.

The thread is posted on the ‘conflict in the Middle East board’ which I think is why posters are linking it to Israel, not because anybody thinks it is okay to be antisemitic. I assumed from the fact it was posted on this board (and not for example the Jewish mumsnetters board or in chat etc) the OP was wanting to discuss the rise in antisemitism within the context of the current conflict. The actions of Israel have lead to increased acts of anti-Semitism, just as the actions of Hamas have lead to increased acts of Islamophobia. Neither are justified or okay, ordinary citizens should not be responsible for the acts of governments or terrorist groups especially within other countries, but unfortunately the reason they’re happening is because of the conflict of the Middle East and because some people can’t separate citizens from the acts of people they share a religion with. It would be hard to discuss this without mentioning Israel right now?

Yes it is happening and it's awful. Some of the banners and chants at the marches are disgusting. As is the ripping down of the hostage posters everywhere. The aforementioned bathroom graffiti was at my DDs school. It's disgusting. I stand with all Jewish people in our country and I am so sorry that this is happening and that you don't feel safe.
I would love to march for peace but these marches do not seem to me to be in favour of peace for all.

I am not sure what people mean when they march and chant "from the river to the sea." They may mean simply a peaceful land without injustice, or they may mean the eradication of the Israeli state, or maybe even the removal of all the Jewish people they consider colonisers.

I am trying to understand here…. We are on a thread discussing antisemitism in the U.K. and how awful that is. Posters are coming on here talking about how awful Israel is. Are these posters trying to say that it is ok to be an antisemite??

But it's illegal to use as an incendiary, which is what they did when they used it against UN shelters, during Cast Lead. I mean, unless you were arguing that they were using it as a smokescreen to cross a small yard?

And whilst there's a difference between a stray shell killing bystanders, that's not what's happening. Israel are deliberately and purposefully targetting civilians, as they always do.

They have dropped leaflets onto hospitals, telling them what's coming. (Please don't try to pretend that a stray Hamas rocket = not one single instance of Israel bombing hospitals was actually carried out by Israel).

I have a close friend who is Jewish and she is concerned about the rise in anti semetism though thankfully she hasn't experienced any personally yet during this war.

She has been verbally abused, kicked and spat at in the past but that's because she was mistaken as Muslim after Manchester and the murder of Lee Rigby.

She never wears a head scarf anymore.

Sadly theres always bigoted idiots that get emboldened by events to act on views they usually keep hidden. I don't understand such stupid attitudes on any level.

She was planning on travelling to Israel to see friends later this month but she's obviously not now and adamant she won't under any circumstances while Netanyahu remains in power.

We both think that comments from senior Gov ministers labelling marches of support as hate marches does more to inflame extremists on both sides and probably intentionally as a vehicle to pass repressive legislation on everyone.
