@eardefender So Palestine was "a land without a people for a people without a land"? Is that what they taught you at Zionist camp? Such a lie.

No, read back what i wrote. What exactly do you mean by 'zionist camp'?

and yet non of that excuses what Israel are currently doing.

you mean hamas. Israel didn't want this war, they have no choice but to eliminate hamas.

Why on earth is anyone still supporting this murderous regime? I am yet to see a fraction of a rational explanation on any of these threads, just the usual bigotry and hasbara.

Remember, a diverse population of Jews, Muslims and Christians all lived in harmony in Palestine before the involvement of the British and French and the Zionist push to form a Jewish state.

The horrors of the Holocaust do not justify 75 years of Palestinian ethnic cleansing. The Palestinians have spent 75 years paying for someone else’s crimes.

If you think Israelis are a murderous regime, wait until you hear about Hamas....

If you think it was all harmony in Israel before 1948 i don't think this is true. Jews were 'dimini' and there were massacres against jews as they began to buy land and settle in the region.
'palestine' was invented by Yasser Arafat in 1967 for nefarious reasons most who call themselves palestinian have no ancestry in the region and were migrants from Syria, jordan and other arab states to work on Jewish owned farms.
so called Palestinians were about 700000 in the nakba. they are now about 14m worldwide so logically you have a lot of people identifying as palestinian who actually have no ancestry to the origonal inhabitants of the land.

Neighbouring Arab states don't want to help them, take refugees or govern them and i cant say i would blame them. Where they had autonomy in Gaza look what happened. Still reliant on the UN and a terrorist state.

@Parkingt111 @feralunderclass @CatsArePawesomeand others who keep posting i just want to say thank you for your steadfastness in speaking out against this unbelievable injustice. It takes time and patience but it is not going unnoticed and many are silently reading your posts as well as those on SM and people are learning and waking up even if they felt neutral before, that’s why so many want to gaslight, ridicule, dehumanise and silence more than ever before.

💯 agree with this

I’m also truly amazed at how anyone is still supporting or justifying the obvious ethnic cleansing of Palestinian civilians. Or how anyone is trying to convince us that Israel is not committing mass genocide and raging a war against innocent civilians who are mainly just children. They need to stop with their efforts, because no one can justify IDF’s actions as anything but evil. IDF are widely seen as a group of cowards who are raging a war against a population made of mainly children. The world can clearly see that what is actually happening is genocide. They want the Palestinian Arabs gone. End of.

ketchup07070 · 02/11/2023 23:36

@CatsArePawesome I did know a bit about this situation, but have not looked on Save the Children website about it. I think these children must be released, seen by doctors and the abuse allegations investigated. I can't imagine this treatment of children would be tolerated in most democracies, it would be seen as a violation of human rights and the rights of the child.

CatsArePawesome · 02/11/2023 23:09

As this is Mumsnet, if you want to know more about the hundreds of Palestinian children held hostage in Israeli prisons, as I mentioned above, there are plenty of articles on Save the Children’s website. The children are usually held without charge or charged for throwing stones in defence at Israeli settlers trying to forcibly take their home. They are often held indefinitely and in terrible conditions.

“The charity consulted more than 470 children from across the West Bank who have been detained over the past ten years. It found that most children were taken from their homes at night, blindfolded, with their hands painfully bound behind their backs. Many of the respondents said they were not told why they were being arrested or where they were being taken.”

“They destroyed the front door, entered my room, covered my face with a bag and took me away…They told my father that I would return the next day. I returned after 12 months,” said Abdullah* who was detained six times as a child.

““TREATED LIKE ANIMALS” – PALESTINIAN CHILDREN SUFFER INHUMANE TREATMENT IN ISRAELI-RUN PRISONS”

“STRIPPED, BEATEN AND BLINDFOLDED: NEW RESEARCH REVEALS ONGOING VIOLENCE AND ABUSE OF PALESTINIAN CHILDREN DETAINED BY ISRAELI MILITARY”

“Nearly half (42%) are injured at the point of arrest, including gunshot wounds and broken bones. Some report violence of a sexual nature and some are transferred to court or between detention centres in small cages, the child rights organisation said.”

Funny that Israel don’t show this in the tourism adverts next to the cocktails on the beach.

CatsArePawesome · 02/11/2023 22:55

Thank you for the solidarity @WomanHereHear.

Right now Israel is burning Palestinian babies alive- with genocidal intent (words from UN officials)- and this will continue unless there is enough public pressure to stop. The UK is politically involved in this one.

If you want to support a ceasefire, and an end to the illegal occupation of Palestine, here are some ways below.

Ceasefire doesn’t mean giving up on the Israeli hostages btw. Hamas have said and shown that they’re willing to negotiate in return for the Palestinian political prisoners which you never get to hear about (including 100s of Palestinian children held hostage in terrible conditions and often indefinitely, without charge). Blowing up all of Gaza won’t save the hostages either.

Join a protest this weekend, they’re nationwide and always have people from all walks of life. Plenty of families attend, I take my kid. The Palestine Solidarity Campaign has a list of where they are happening.

Sign a petition for Parliament, on Save the Children, on Amnesty, many more…

Write to your MP- you can find editable, prewritten letters online.

Boycott. Starbucks, McDonalds, and Walt Disney Co. stocks are still down after boycotts that have been lasting for more than two weeks. Money talks.

Because they want to extract Palestinians from Gaza, they want Gaza and it's prime location, which is close to oil supplies in the Levantine Basin.

I've seen varying first hand reports of different Israeli citizens hopes and dreams of what Gaza will become - one woman wanted it to be the location for tomorrowland 2024. Not saying they all are hoping for a successful genocide, but there's certainly a good few.

Israel threatened to get their own back on the UN for stating the tragic events of 7th October “did not happen in a vacuum…The Palestinian people have been subjected to 56 years of suffocating occupation.” The only country to complain about this statement was Israel.

Now Israel have bombed four UN-schools-turned-shelters.

Not the first time either:
https://www.timesofisrael.com/11-un-staff-30-pupils-at-un-schools-killed-in-gaza-says-spokesperson/amp/

And may times before: 40 dead in a UN school. The kids were asleep in the school at the time.
https://www.unrwa.org/newsroom/official-statements/statement-shelling-near-al-fakhura-school-jabalia-camp
As per usual Israel later had to admit there was no Hamas in the building. As per usual Israel was left to undertake their own investigation.

Total impunity for 75 years.

A high ranking UN official has resigned this week, his resignation letter read:

“This is a text-book case of genocide. The European, ethno-nationalist, settler colonial project in Palestine has entered its final phase, toward the expedited destruction of the last remnants of indigenous Palestinian life in Palestine. What’s more, the governments of the United States, the United Kingdom, and much of Europe, are wholly complicit in the horrific assault. Not only are these governments refusing to meet their treaty obligations “to ensure respect” for the Geneva Conventions, but they are in fact actively arming the assault, providing economic and intelligence support, and giving political and diplomatic cover for Israel’s atrocities.”

“In concert with this, western corporate media, increasingly captured and state-adjacent, are in open breach of Article 20 of the ICCPR, continuously dehumanizing Palestinians to facilitate the genocide”.

@Auvergne63 I am sorry but if the UN, human rights lawyers, Amnesty International and others organisations have stated that the Israel government have committed war crimes. I will trust their assessment over yours. In addition, the bombing of the refugee camp killed 7 hostages and 1 Hamas leader. The IDF and government do not care an iota about the hostages. The Israeli bombs killed them, not Hamas

They haven't though, as i stated in my post, its all 'may' or 'might have'. Not very many are saying it for definite because i don't think they have, i don't think its uneqiuvocal that Israel have definitely committed war crimes.

We must not take anything that Hamas claims as the truth. We know they lie we have to wait and see what the truth of this bombing is and who really died.

I really don't think i am alone in thinking that the UN, Amnesty and the Guardian lack credibility, not least because of their bias toward Israel/Jews.

So if UN, human rights lawyers and Amnesty lack credibility who is credible? And in what way do these have bias against Jewish people?

Why is Israeli bombing refugee camps in Gaza?
SinnerBoy · 01/11/2023 22:58

2005, Israel left Gaza. We forced our own people to leave their homes. The army grabbed them and kicked them out.

There were 7,000 or so illegal settlers and the Israeli courts ordered them to move and they took no notice. The Americans had been pressuring Israel to do something as an international gesture of goodwill, so they decided to move the illegal settlers from Gaza.

This had a number of benefits for Israel. Firstly, it freed a very large number of troops, who'd been protecting the illegal settlers. It also gave them an international propaganda boost, to say that they were serious about settling with the Palestinians.

They were dishonest, claiming that they "gave" Gaza to the Palestinians, when it was never theirs to take, nor give.

It was also good internal propaganda, all the crying people being arrested by the army. That translated into "Look how awful it was with a few thousand, we can never clear the West Bank settlements."

Don't forget, those settlers had priority for water, over more than one and a half million Palestinians. The illegal settlers took 90% of the water, to grow flowers for the European markets. But - productivity was down, because of an increasingly salinified aquifer, so they wouldn't have been able to support themselves for many more years.

For peace!

For the illusion that Israel wanted peace. Had they, they wouldn't have immediately cleared more Palestinians out of the West Bank and placed settlers there, would they?

It defies logic to say that they wanted peace.

Netanyahu needs to be held accountable for this
Finally we have people calling the attack on the refugee camp for what it is
A WAR CRIME

I felt for António Guterres last week. I've never seen the Secretary-General of the United Nations use themselves as a human shield before. He got the Rafah gate open though.

Thanks to @Parkingt111 for all her polite and persistent posting when I would have given up. You are highlighting the gross injustice that continues towards the Palestinian people.

And I have seen you condemn Hamas many many times.

But for now Israel is the bigger aggressor. And Netanyahu et al are out of control whilst thousands more innocent people suffer cruel deaths. So that’s what people are focussing on now. Surely at this stage, feeling heartbreak towards the Palestinian people is the only decent human response.

I work with adults with learning. The news were on today when I arrived a lady's flat, showing the devastation in Gaza. She looked at me and said " This is wrong." She doesn't know anything about the history of the conflict; she just reacted to what she saw. She just showed her humanity.

Both Hamas and the Israeli lie. Fact. The IDF have claimed the bombing of the refugee camp. Fact. The imposition of sieges that endanger the lives of civilians by depriving them of goods essential for their survival is prohibited under international humanitarian law. Fact.
Your opinion on the lack of credibility of the organisations you mention is just that, an opinion, not a fact.
