Why is Israeli bombing refugee camps in Gaza?

By a democratically elected government that has control over their own airspace and maritime waters?

Let’s for a moment accept that Israel has concrete intelligence of there being a member of Hamas in a hospital, or a refugee camp, or a school, or an apartment block filled with kids (all of which they have bombed to ruins, blowing up and burning the kids inside), why do you feel that killing almost 4,000 children is justified?

What about if Hamas members had rooted themselves into Israeli schools, Israeli hospitals, Israeli refugee camps, Israeli apartment blocks filled with kids, and the death toll of Jewish children was now almost at 4,000 dead Jewish kids - what would you say?

Would you just say “oh how sad, they were using the Jewish kids and babies as human shields, but crack on”? Please do tell me.

The Palestinian people are not Hamas. The Israelis have taken the Palestinian land and kept them in an open prison in Gaza. An Israeli life isn’t worth more than a Palestinian and vice versa.

I think that poster has quite extreme opinions. Thankfully I know Israeli and Jewish people who have far more compassion towards Palestinian people than they have. I only associate with people who have the emotional intelligence to sympathise with victims on both sides.

Is anyone suggesting establishing a Jewish state in Iran, or Egypt, or Yemen? These countries expelled their Jewish populations in recent history (most of whom went to Israel). Seems odd that the anger about displaced populations doesn’t come up in this context.

You don't know know the quotes, @eardefender ? They weren't from "a couple of people". The "children of darkness" quote was from Netanyahu. And it was the Israeli Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, who justified Israel cutting off the electricity, food, water and humanitarian aid from entering Gaza Strip because "those who live there are animals in the form of humans and we will deal with them as such". But I'm sure you think that's perfectly acceptable, since you have made it abundantly clear on this forum that you deny the very existence of the Palestinian people.

@eardefender can you explain why some Jews are protesting against the Israeli action in Gaza? I know what you think of non-Jews who are against it but what about Jews?

I can’t believe thinks there is a moral equivalence between Hamas and Israel. Hamas deliberately target civilians. Israel target military targets, though of course they are not always successful in avoiding civilians. But there is a clear and very important difference in aims. The long history is not really relevant in deciding what is morally right. Even if Israel have opposed Palestinians for decades, NOTHING justifies deliberately targeting civilians. Once a person or group does this they have lost their humanity completely.

Go where? They’ve no where to go. Israel took their land.
And please stop saying “Jews” just like Hamas doesn’t speak for the entire Arab population. There are thousands of Jews in Israel protesting against the actions of the Israeli government and army. Thousands of Jews who don’t want the blood of innocent children on their hands. The IDF are torturing and beating them up too.

Do you genuinely believe very few civilians have died in Gaza @eardefender? do you think fewer civilians have died in Gaza than died in Israel on 7th October? What about civilian Palestinians prior to 7th October, how many deaths then, or can’t we believe the numbers because they are stated by Hamas?
Can we believe everything the Israeli government say, they never lie as they are so tolerant (your words)?

Israel are targeting Hamas, Hamas use human shields, they have been open about this.
Why would i be Ok with someone using my child as a human shield, this makes no sense.

Gaza was not occupied, as soon as the wall was breached, terrorists immediately attacked and kidnapped Israeli civilians and filmed it for their pleasure.
They wont give the hostages back.
They have said they use human shields. Isreal must go in and destroy Hamas, they must rescue their hostages.
They are trying to avoid killing civilians by warning them
Did Hamas warn anyone? Remember, as you said, context is everything.
Israel try to go after military targets and try to minimise civilian casualties, Hamas go after civilians and try to maximise civilian casualties.
Hamas are in charge of the figures coming out of gaza so we need to be skeptical about them.
So thank you for clarifying the importance of context.
