To think Israel won't exist much longer?

Support in the west is declining, and when Israel doesn't have weapons and defense funding they won't be able to defend against their neighbouring countries on their own. AIBU to wonder how much longer it can exist given they are losing support?

This is a genocide. Any claim about rescuing hostages is bullshit considering the indiscriminate bombing of Gaza. Israel was given the perfect excuse and it took advantage of it.

Thousands and thousands of innocent men, women and children are suffering painful deaths and being blown apart. That is not a justified response to the terror attack by Hamas. With Israel’s technology, does anyone seriously believe Israel cannot locate its hostages and rescue them, and target Hamas without killing so many innocent people?

Israel will always exist, as it should at this point in time, but it’s Gaza’s future that is in threat right now and anyone who thinks this is justified is a shameful excuse for a human being.

I don't have purple hair, Palestinian flags or a twitter account. I never watch TikTok either. What I do have is enough knowledge to understand that we are witnessing now is not something that started on 07/10/23 but in 1948, i.e. the systematic oppression of the Palestinian people.

You can find even earlier historical aspects of the aetiology, of course ... perhaps over millennia. But we should not forget the part British imperialism played.

It is many other things too, of course, but one of the things this conflict is is (yet another) shadow of the British Empire.

(Which does not at all help to solve the myriad problems, moral, political, military, practical .... But recalling this might assist in seeing the complexities, perhaps.)

I was just responding to the person who said all Israeli Arabs are actually Palestinians but they're all too scared to admit it. And that really isn't true. There are plenty of Israeli Arabs who aren't of Palestinian descent. I didn't like their implication that the term Israeli-Arab is offensive

You honestly have an extremely poor understanding of international politics and American foreign policy. Is the genocide in Gaza an appalling human tragedy, yes. But that has absolutely fuck all to do with foreign policy. Are there a number of posturing politicians in every country in the world, absolutely. But that has fuck all to do with foreign policy.

Outside of a massive, massive shift in global powers, Israel isn't going anywhere. The Palestinian people are pawns used by rival powers in a massive power struggle. So, to a lesser extent, are the Israelis. You are right that Israel isn't viable without foreign intervention and military support. But it's of military strategic importance to those who give it.

If israel didn’t exist then the region would probably be another Muslim country, with poor economics, poor infrastructure, an autocratic regime of rich men governing for decades, a lack of human rights, no rights for women and gay people at all. Internal strife. Terrorist factions. Refugees going to the west. A bit like the neighbours.

No, Israel will continue to exist as long as the US provides it support, which it always will (support for Israel is one of the few issues in America which gets cross party support), or until some rogue nation like Iran or Syria develops nuclear weapons, which God forbid never happens.

By the way, I hate Hamas and I hate Netanyahu's govt. My sympathies are with the innocent Palestinian and Israeli citizens on both sides who want to live in peace but are caught in the middle of these 2 groups of psychopaths.

No one in their right mind thinks what Hamas did and has done its acceptable. I wish for no harm to any innocent Israeli’s or Jews. I worry for Jews across the world as racist attacks are on the rise, might I add as they are for Muslims.

But what Israel are doing to innocent Gazan civilians is absolutely abhorrent. No power, no internet, no supplies. Hospitals and schools bombed. Israel will flatten Gaza and the west will do nothing as they are doing now. Beautiful children are getting hurt on BOTH sides and it is wrong, but it’s clear Israeli’s have a better chance of survival that Palestinians.

Take away the politics, no innocent people just trying to live their lives should have to suffer this way.

Hamas, the Israeli government, the US and UK government's have no regard for human life the whole lot of them are disgusting.

You have to assume Hamas knew what would happen when they entered Israel with the intention of killing civilians, not even pretending to be going for military targets. Israel would inevitably respond and the anger at the brutality of the attack meant that the response would be very violent. What were Hamas trying to do, get Gaza destroyed?

There are 2- 3 million Palestinians living in Israel, many as citizens - these people are being referred to and have been referred to as Israeli-Arabs. That is a fact. It has been written about fairly extensively. In surveys done with these Palestinians in Israel - about 2/3 continue privately to identify as Palestinian even though they can't do so publicly. The other third have accepted that the loss of their Palestinian identity is the price to pay for feeling safer and more accepted in Israel as Arab citizens and so they choose to identify as Israeli-Arab. However Israel refers to all these people (Palestinians citizens in Israel) as Israeli Arabs. The term is even being used in this thread and in others on this board when talking about Palestinians in Israel.

Again, these are facts. So denying them is really just ignorance.
