AP reported that Macron has sent aid ships to Gaza and tried to negotiate an international force to tackle Hamas. I'm not convinced he thought he'd get any takers but perhaps hoped that some thinking time might give people he opportunity to step back from the brink. I always though he was a bit of a hot head prone to temper tantrums but it seems that's not always the case.

@NotSuchASmugMarried I can't see Egypt and the Gulf allowing 2 million refugees in. But I suppose if Israel/US have ways to force them then maybe it will happen. Israel is a democracy with nuclear weapons. Who exactly do you think has the power to stop them doing anything? And I don't think they will be stopped. I think they will keep going until they achieve their objective which is why I just pray they win quickly.

My prediction of how things will proceed

Israel will initiate the ground offensive when it is deemed militarily advantageous to them and after they have taken out as many targets as they can from the air first.

The ground offensive will all be over by year end, or if not, definately by Spring.

Hamas will be destroyed and so will Gaza really - but the Gazans will rebuild it slowly.

There will be periodic terrorist attacks on Israel and also other western countries but we already live with these and are used to them.

I don't have any predictions about what will happen if Hezbollah use Lebanon as a staging post to attack Israel but I DO think the younger generation of Lebanese have no problem with Israel and won't side with Hezbollah.

Israel has no fear of Iran and might use a tactical nuclear weapon on Tehran if it starts just to show them what they can do. The first one won't make Iran stop but another one might.

I think what the PP means is that she hopes Isreal destroy Hamas as fast as possible. They are going to do that and until they do that they won’t stop. So it’s a reasonable thing to hope for.

Posters talking about “victory” or “winning” what does that look like? I don’t understand what Israel will count as a “win”.
I watched an Israeli government official on channel 4 news this evening insisting they can destroy all of Hamas by their current war on Gaza. He must be on drugs if he seriously believes that! I don’t think for one second he did believe it though, it’s just an excuse.

2360 children have died in Gaza in less than three weeks. What Hamas did was beyond wicked but this is no less so.

According to the guy that wrote this article they will all be expelled to Egypt or the Gulf!
