Anyone else not actively TTC, but not actively avoiding either?!

Hello folks, I'm new to all this! Please forgive the hit-and-miss use of acronyms.

DH and I recently decided not to actively TTC but, as 30 is looming, have agreed to chuck the condoms out and 'see what happens'!

Slightly prompted by ever-so-helpful article in the guardian this weekend www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2010/jul/03/ivf-fertility-infertility-gedis-grudzinskas

I am bursting to blab to anyone who will listen, but really need to keep it to myself! Is anyone else in a similar situation?!

Hey raspberry, did you get back on track?

I'm trying not to get excited - our first month of 'not being careful' and AF is now 2 days late. Which isn't actually unusual at all for me, but exciting, nonetheless!

Well, im not doing very well in jsing for the fun of it. Body starts giving me signs yesterday but OH wasn't well last night so early night meant sleep and I was tbf a bit gutted. Nevermind. It's his 30th birthday today so I'll have another go tonight!!!

Hey Raspberry, nice to have someone else in the boat! And glad you're enjoying it so much!

Hello, relative newbie here. I agreed with DP that we would be casually trying i.e not actually trying but not using anything to prevent it as of last month (we tried last year for 6 months but then had to take a break as my job was on the line and didn't think it was a good idea, all better now on that front) but I bought a book on fertility and conception today and just want to talk about ttc all the time now! I can't help it, it just pops out . It also doesn't help that, since coming off the pill my sex drives gone through the roof but DP thinks its just because i want a baby and its not just that, i genuinely am damn randy....honestly, what is a girl to do!

Hi Karstan, sounds pretty rubbish. We're working on the principle that the 'right time' doesn't exist and if we waited till we were sure/could afford it etc., we'd be well beyond menopausal!

I'm sure it'll all come together. I suppose we wait and see what happens....!

Turned 30 earlier this year. A day later I was at a hospital appointment told I had fibroids and polyps. Had the latter removed but the fibroids stay for now. Talk from the consultant about hysterectomy may be the solution further down the line has spurred me on.

Still not sure that I 100% sure want a baby (this is normal right ) but realising I might not have the luxury of time to decide.

After last AF we agreed we would not try to avoid, not actually done the deed since!

I feel your pain. No way I could tell people in RL about TTC but I have to tell someone! Getting my IUD out this afternoon, so talking on here is also giving me the confidence to actually keep my appt!

Petalouda · 08/07/2010 21:49

Having said that - it's flipping ace being able to share all this nonsense with people. I'm the worlds worst blabber, can't keep my secrets to myself. So thank god these boards are here to satisfy the chatter-er in me!

You're right, choc, the very fact that I'm on here, mere days after getting an agreement out of DH, suggests that I'll be obsessing within weeks!

Agree with the contraceptive free sex theory too, although I have to keep reminding myself we're not actually trying yet!

I'm with you Petalouda. We'll be officially TTC tomorrow night, but actually I'm quite looking forward to a few months of no pressure JSing for the fun of it. DS was unplanned, so I'm finding a planned DC rather daunting and am happy to not get sucked into the whole charting and timed shagging thing.

Mind you ask me about it in a couple of months and I'm sure it'll be different!

Does anyone else find the thought of contraceptive free sex rather illict and therefore a turn on?

Petalouda · 08/07/2010 17:19

Hi Iggly, Hi Scarlett!

I'm not sure how to feel about your story Scarlett - on the one hand, we could really do with leaving it a few more months, but on the other - if it's a choice between now or never, then I guess it has to be now!

It took my little sis 8 months of 'not trying' to get pg, (now coming up to 20wks), so working on the principle that I'm older and therefore more decrepit, here's hoping we have a little 'fun' window

Hi there

this thread made me giggle as exactly this time last year me and my hubby said the same thing (I was 31) poor hubby thought we would have months of fun trying, as lots of my friends took months to concieve and a month later we were pregnant..... and I am writing this with my beautiful daughter in a sling!

Enjoy the 'trying' and relax......

x

Hi petalouda. I have a baby already but DH and I are not using contraception but are not actively TTC... It's quite strange as every time we have sex I wonder if I'm pregnant. However in my case it's less likely as I'm breastfeeding and my periods haven't properly returned yet!
