Anyone else not actively TTC, but not actively avoiding either?!

Hello folks, I'm new to all this! Please forgive the hit-and-miss use of acronyms.

DH and I recently decided not to actively TTC but, as 30 is looming, have agreed to chuck the condoms out and 'see what happens'!

Slightly prompted by ever-so-helpful article in the guardian this weekend www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2010/jul/03/ivf-fertility-infertility-gedis-grudzinskas

I am bursting to blab to anyone who will listen, but really need to keep it to myself! Is anyone else in a similar situation?!

So nearly a week later, how is everyone going? Any more news? Or have you all given up being casual and just busy shagging?

raspberrytipple · 30/07/2010 07:56

Stupid iPhone only displayed have the board- congratulations!!!! So so pleased for you, I actually just cried :-) well done you!!!

raspberrytipple · 30/07/2010 07:55

Peta - any news ? Have you calmed yourself yet? I think I'll feel exactly the same as you if/when I get pg.

I'm so bored of this waiting now.... :-(. I know I'm supposed to be all casual but I can't help it and get the feeling it isn't going to be my month so am just setting myself up for a disappointment.

Dp has hurt his chest at the gym too so can hardly move..... I've banned him from any silly future exploits after this in case next month is clashes with ovulation!!!!

Petalouda · 29/07/2010 21:33

Thanks all,
I'm all over the place tbh, it's ace, I'm excited about having a baby, but how will we cope financially? Work are going to hate me for this.

I knew I shouldn't have bought 15 pg tests.

Petalouda, just popping in to say congratulations! Very, very happy for you!

Flighttattendant · 29/07/2010 21:02

Oh wow

Pet, that's brilliant - amazing - wonderful!

Congratulations!! April baby!

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 29/07/2010 20:44

Congratulations Petalouda!!! I know it's scarey, but it is so absolutely worth it.

Petalouda · 29/07/2010 19:09

Turns out I was right to panic - amazon cheapo pee sticks arrived today. Just got home & wee'd on one, it said you have to leave them for 5 minutes.

No word of a lie, in 4 seconds, 2 red lines showed up. B.F.P.

Holy sh*t.

So within 6 hours of deciding to 'stop being careful' we've gone and done it.

Can't believe it. I might be 30, but my mum is going to freak out!

Peta - I'm panicking too and not even late yet! I was hoping for a couple of years maybe, before DP went a bit mad and took a risk - I just was a bit taken by surprise but fleetingly thought 'Oh, it's alright, I like babies!' and then it was over in about 5 seconds.

So I understand how you feel! It's a huge mixture between excitement and terror, for me anyway.

beckie90 · 28/07/2010 21:41

haha, yep thats like me, i always but things into postive and negative thoughts, but i want to do it all while im young and not leave a 2 big age gap in my kids.

have you still not had no period yet

Petalouda · 28/07/2010 21:33

Part of me think's its not actually a bad idea to do this earlier in life. I feel like I'm desperately trying to tick boxes in order to reach the 'right' point for 'TTC'.

Hence the panic about potentially jumping the gun!

(have calmed down a lot now, had a good chat with DH which boiled down to "sensible brain says bad, rest says great!")

beckie90 · 28/07/2010 19:50

hiya petalouda.

im the same i come off the pill and recently thought oh ill just see what happens, i have a 20 month old boy, but had a bad birth and now im expieriencing symptoms like pregnancy, the thought of finding out im pregnant is terrifying me now, ive only just turned 20 arghh.
i undastand what your feeling

Petalouda · 28/07/2010 19:35

I'm panicking now - AF's 5 days late and I'm starting to panic, was it really a good idea to be so cavalier about this?

Bought some of the Amazon wee-sticks on monday so hopefully I'll know either way by the end of the week.

I was hoping for a few more months of trying! Arghhh!!! Is it possible to want something so much but be quite so panic-stricken at the prospect of it happening?!

Mortgage app refused this morning too. Just when I thought everything was coming together. Although if I am pg maybe it's not an ideal time to take out a mortgage anyway.

Oh man, I'm going to quietly crumble in the corner!

We did that with DS2, 1 month too!

ReasonableDoubt · 28/07/2010 19:13

lol!@Lola. No, there was no gloating. He was just very, very shocked as had presumed it would 'take a while'. Me too, to be honest!

LolaKnickers · 28/07/2010 18:59

reasonabledoubt - 1 month for me too (was also very quick when actively trying for number 1). I hope you too did not have to suffer the husband gloating about his obvious virility

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 28/07/2010 18:09

Congrats LolaK!

Well it took 3 attempts over about a week and a half to get my coil removed in the end, so thought I'd missed this months chance, but ov'd day after it was out, so am currently on the dreaded 2WW.

Am fairly sure I'm not pg though as had a classic not pg pig out day a few days back and now have a tummy bug that will probably flush out anything that might be there . So looking forward to next month. Shall be having me some drunken birthday shagging

How's everyone else?

ReasonableDoubt · 28/07/2010 18:05

We did something similar. I was pregnant precisely one month later. Good luck!

raspberrytipple · 28/07/2010 18:03

Lola congratulations on pg. I've no idea where I am on my cycle now...... i may be on the two week wait but my period isnt due for over another week but Im sure I ovulated last week so I dont know. Im enjoying the cruise though so Im staying put for now. Anyone else got any news? x

LolaKnickers · 28/07/2010 17:57

Yes - currently pregnant on that basis!! It was a genuine not trying as I was drinking etc and was quite surprised when I found out. It came about mainly as I can't take the pill and find condoms a bit yucky. We didn't mind if it didn't happen, but are obviously delighted it did.

Flighttattendant · 28/07/2010 08:46

Oh sorry I didn't realise recent posts were so, erm recent!

Is it Ok if I join you?

Flighttattendant · 28/07/2010 08:43

How is everyone getting on?

raspberrytipple · 27/07/2010 07:39

Hi Petulouda,

We certainly did thank you although according to pregnology (which I am now obessessed with) I dont actually ovulate until today anyway so that's kept me busy! I have a feeling that now we are trying my af will start playing nasty tricks as usually it is on a pretty steady 30/31 days. fingers crossed for you!!

Kartasan - i know people who have been in the same boat and are not sure but they both had babies and didnt regret it. I do sometimes think 'wow, this is a bit grown up' at 27 and 30 but we just feel that now is the right time.

Choc- how have your first few weeks gone. I must admit having unprotected sex for the first few weeks felt very naughty!!! haha, it's worn off now though!

happy casual trying all! xx
