Just to start us off.

May this be a happy and lucky thread for all of us.

OP posts:
JemimaPuddleduck07 · 09/08/2010 23:50

Hi Hippy, can I be in your gang please!!

Hope no-one minds if I rejoin. I popped in a good few months ago but we stopped TTC as DD2's eczema was so bad and we were getting so little sleep that we didn't think we could cope with a baby. It's a bit more under control now and we both would love another child so back on the TTC band wagon (and I'm already bored of SWI!).

hippychick66 · 09/08/2010 21:24

sex twice a day....... Ha ha Ha ......(hippy rolls about on floor laughing). Then thinks back and realises that maybe she did that too - a long time ago Shock.

Good luck for tomorrow sassy - if anyone gives you a funny look just tell 'em to sod off!

alba keep chanting that please, there's a love.

I am very impressed that I only have to ask and the lurkers come popping back. feeling rather pleased with myself (smug face icon).

SassySusan · 09/08/2010 21:16

Ok - am clearly befuddled - I will buy some OPK then... anything to have less sex Grin

DH and I were reminiscing about when we ttc Catherine. Now we're stressing about caffeine and timing and hot baths... my body is a temple. Then we went on a weekend to Amsterdam, smoked a lot of dope and drunk a REALLY disgusting amount of wine. Decided to try, and I was pg by the end of the week. But I was luvved up, unstressed and 35 Confused And didn't mind having sex twice a day....

We're seeing the Fertility Consultant tomorrow - feel quite nervous! Have visions of lots of young couples eyeing us wrinklies up and down, wondering what we're doing there. Or maybe a private fertility clinic is more like John Lewis Nursery Department(where the average Mum age jumps to 35 anyway?)

AlbaDeTamble · 09/08/2010 21:13

Jollster that's so lovely of you, I'm quite touched... you ask my stepkids though and they'll soon contradict you on my loveliness, especially when I'm feeling particularly hormonal and they're being very typical teenagers...........

Yes Hippy, big scan day next Monday.

Jolly hope you're hanging in there, I'm full of admiration for your calmness. I'm thinking positive thoughts for us both. It's going to be a really, really GOOD day for scans next Monday.

Alba wanders off muttering 'third time lucky, third time lucky, third time lucky......'

Am I right in thinking that your 20 week scan is the same day as Jolly's 12 week???

What an exciting day (if I'm right).

hippychick66 · 09/08/2010 21:00

alba Thanks, honey Grin.

AlbaDeTamble · 09/08/2010 20:59

You won't run out of seats Hippy. Remember, 3rd time lucky, and it will be.

hippychick66 · 09/08/2010 20:47

alba it's horrid going back to places that remind you, but hopefully you will be smiling all the way this time.

When i started bleeding t 6 weeks with the last little one we ended up back in the same scan room that I'd just left 3 months earlier Angry.

DH headed for the same seats in the waiting room and I said "NO, we can't sit there, it's where we sat last time!"

Gosh, I hope we don't run out of seats to sit on!!!!

I went for a jog with my 7 year old today. The other son was at a friends house. It only took me a few steps to realise that I had totally the wrong bra on. So i decided to speed walk instead. 6 minutes there and 6 minutes back and I was knackered Blush.

hippychick66 · 09/08/2010 20:42

Hippy summons old posters by singing - do you wanna be in my gang ?

Not sure it's right to sing that song anymore????Hmm

AlbaDeTamble · 09/08/2010 20:30

hello Hippy, yes, still lurking...
and you're right, I had DS a little under 2 weeks before my 39th birthday. Back in the days when I thought it was all so easy, a few months trying, easy pregnancy, then baby...

But 3rd time lucky is going well, 20 week scan and antenatal appointment next Monday, first time back at the hospital since MMC follow up scan, and I have to admit I'm dreading it, but very happy to have got this far Smile. And for the stats, I'll be 42 by the time I get to my due date.

And as for UTIs, have had a few since Feb... the price of dedication to the babymaking cause! I was given antibiotics immediately for the last one, and they worked, but the tests came back from the lab negative..... Hmm Dr said something along the lines of what Sassy was saying... if they worked, great, often happens like that Confused. Strongly recommend lots and lots of cranberry juice. I was drinking so much of the stuff OPKs were useless for me. Hope you're feeling a little more comfortable very soon.

And hello to Sassy, so sorry to read about what happened with your DD, utterly heartbreaking, I admire your strength and sense of humour at what must be an incredibly difficult time. But you've found a lovely little corner of MN here, this really is a lovely thread, as you seem to have already discovered. I'm half way through a pregnancy and still can't quite tear myself away.....

So, how many others from your list are you going to manage to summon back to the thread this evening then, Hippy??

Waves to all

hippychick66 · 09/08/2010 20:19

spottysox meant to say. Good to hear that you had ewcm after ov when you were preg and that you had an UTI. (not good that you had a UTI but you know what I mean Grin).

I would love to be preg again (obvously!!!!) but I would also be sooooooooo scared of losing it again.

I would love to be like one of those 14 year olds on TV dramas who just refuses to believe they are pregnant and puts it right out of their mind until they find themselves giving birth alone in a creepy church!!! - well obviously not the last bit but the 'not thinking about it for ages' bit would suit me. Wink

hippychick66 · 09/08/2010 20:14

What compliments:- I make people laugh and I'm a flower of loveliness Grin Grin

Good to hear from you linda. You DO NOT clog the thread up, you wally - we love to hear from you. lol about the puppy - i knew you'd cave in!

sassy I don't know why you've gone off the OPK idea - I would defo recommend. i usually get a good 36 hours warning (gives me time to get the sexy outfit on!!!) Give 'em a go lovie.

spottysox have you tried hard core porn?? Just a thought Wink. jolly take that look of your face - i'm joking!

sassy am sorry to say my children are 10 and 7 (I was 33 and 36 when I had them) so not an advert for over 40's baby making. but there are quite a few on here who had a baby at your age and are now going for it again. alba gum and jolly I think all had a baby aged approx 40. (I think Confused).

Oh nearly forgot Hippy I get ewcm after ov when I'm pregnant so you never know the troops may have advanced Smile annnnd I had a UTI when I conceived DD and was drinking gallons of cranberry juice, later read that cranberry juice is used by ladies wanting to sway the odds infavour of conceiving a girl don't know if that's true Hmm
Bye again

spottysox · 09/08/2010 19:01

Hi, keep trying to post but keep getting interupted by DC/DH Good to see Lias' BFP hope all is going well. Sassy sorry to hear what you've been through, just to let you know I had DS and was 41 the next month, also I use ebay cheapy opk's 30 for a fiver or something like that. They seem to work for me I also used a persona monitor in the past and the cheap opks matched exactly on egg days.

Hippy you do make me laugh, my DH is wise to the sexy outfit trick, have you any other seduction tips???Smile
I'm being shouted at again, hope to pop back soon
Take care all

SassySusan · 09/08/2010 17:19

Hippy How old are your 2 boys? I'm just being nosey... I want you to say 3 months and 18 months... as I need lots of post 40 success stories to focus on Grin

Crossing my fingers that you get your BFP this month ... I used to think that people must be shagging at the wrong time, but I know (counting back from my AF) that we have I think always managed to have sex at the appropriate points, and still I can't get pg... boo hiss..

You lot have sort of put me off OPKs, as I know when I've ovulated (get pains) so what I'm really needing is a 2 day warning before hand - and if it's not going to do that... probably a bit of a waste of money for us... perhaps we should save it for the IVF Grin

hippychick66 · 09/08/2010 12:30

lateatwork, lunatic, doubleshott lindalinda alba lia kiwi are you all still lurking. Big Hi - to you all Grin

hippychick66 · 09/08/2010 12:25

Can't get an appointment with my lovely GP - she's just too lovely and popular.

So I have an appointment with someone else I don't know tomorrow. I will not leave without the drugs.

I have had to take the boys to 3 appointments now and they have to wait outside. The 10 yr old asked if I have something seriously wrong wth me - bless him.

I think I have defo ovulated. My boobs feel like they are responding to progesterone (they don't feel like someone else's yet though diege)

I do remember one day when the pain was worse and it could have been ov pain and UTI. That day was just after we SWI so hopefully I'm still in the game Grin.

hippychick66 · 09/08/2010 10:33

It's such a shame we can't all be sex addicts. then we'd just do it every day and love it and there would be no need for OPK's and the like.

Ahh well - back to the real world........

Beattiebow · 09/08/2010 10:26

meant that to be admittedly old oops.

Beattiebow · 09/08/2010 10:25

hippy glad you think the section in the book on cm is odd. i do too. doesn't bare much resemblence to my admittedly old body anyway. I have realised that my temperature is very sensitive and will rise at any old thing! I drank about 3glasses of wine on saturday night and my temp was substantially higher on Sunday morning.

I have agreed with dh that I won't get obsessive about monitoring this body this month, but on the condition that we just have alot of sex. In the back of my mind I have that I should be doing it every other day, but i am instead just trying to do it frequently. It is quite relaxing actually - it does take the pressure off doing it at the right time. Having said that, I haven't got to that time yet (as far as I know) so haven't been tested yet.

hippychick66 · 09/08/2010 10:04

galwaygal I was thinking - wow this newbie writes like she really knows me, she must have read this thread well Grin

Why the name change, fancied a change or want to try turning over a new leaf???

Good luck for the blood tests. Might be best that you didn't get a BFP this month, you'd only have been worrying that your body has allowed any old embryo to implant and you might learn something useful for the next pregnancy from the blood tests. Were you ok about the BFN?

All the stuff you said about me did occur to me too - eg. was my temp a bit high cos of the possible UTI. Have been preg twice this year so more likely to get a UTI. etc. I find the whole section in toni's book about CM is a bit odd. Does our body really know when to produce all these different kinds of mucus and do i really have such a range Confused.

sassy I usually try SWI from about day 8 until the temp rise but i usually only do every other day (every day is just too much). Sperm lives for a while so every day isn't really necessary. Of course this month I've been totally crap and only done it a couple of times (but I did have a sick note Miss).

I think the reason all these 16 year olds get preg so easily is cos they are at it all the time!

Your question about IVF - We have 2 boys already and both my DH and I agreed that we would only go as far as trying naturally, it wasn't something we wanted to go into and we couldn't afford it anyway.

So far I have managed to get pregnant twice quite easily but both times I MC'd probably cos my eggs are old (they are nearly 44! yours are much younger). so really we are just hoping for a natural pregnancy that sticks around. There are a couple of ladies on here who have tried IVF (italian and kiwi). Kiwi is currently preggers from an IVF attempt.

there is an assisted conception thread that I think you could have a read of.

rowingboat · 08/08/2010 22:33

Hi everyone,
sorry just had to pop on and say 'I did wonder who you were rainbow in disguise'. Grin
2 weeks of writing and 2 weeks off sounds good to me.
