Just to start us off.

May this be a happy and lucky thread for all of us.

Hello! Just back from hols so just marking my place as not had time to read through yet!
Well af came mid-through hols Sad on cd 32 would you believe (as opposed to my usual 25 day cycle). Really, really thought I was pregnant (symptoms wise I had the lot) and was really surprised (as opposed to gutted, initially I think) when I got a bfn when I tested cd 32). I really think it must have been the angus, giving me a LP of 15 days now Hmm.Not sure what's best - one of 10 days or one of 15??Confused. Will give it another month anyway and try and pinpoint ov too (have finally bought a thermometer and am taking my temps (scary). Back later when I've had a read through!Love to all xx

hippychick66 · 14/08/2010 17:02

lol at sassy and Mr Sassy going for it like teenagers with grown-ups next door.

GG - I cannot begin to imagine how you are feeling (hang on in there).

jolly See comment to GG - the same applies to you, lovie. I am getting stressed just thinking about YOUR scan!!! Confused

lunatic thanks for popping back. So glad to hear all is progressing well. Do you know Sassy old Susie in real life or from a bereavement thread??

As for me, I am on CD 1 already Shock. Yes I worked out that I ov'd on about day 8 so I only had a 20 day cycle. Back to SWI before I know it.

After my MMC I had a 21 day cycle and I remember thinking that that was a sign that I should just give up and of course then got preg the next month, so hopefully that will be repeated but with a decent embryo this time.

I think the Anti Bs are working. i do still have some tummy pain but of course that is more endo related what with me being on my period.

I have been having another pain which has scared me quite a bit and I am booked in to see my lovely GP on monday (more waiting in the waiting room for my poor boys). - Ever since the MC in June I have been getting pin prick like pains in my legs.

And they have got worse recently. it feels like when you think a small insect is caught in your trousers and is biting you. According to GOOGLE I am either anxious, aneamic, about to get parkinsons (which is in the family) or about to have a massive heart attack (what my dad died of!!!), so as you can see, I am slightly worried about these leg pains!!!! Hmm

Thanks so much to everyone for popping back when I summonds you - it made me feel very full of my own piss and importance!!! Grin

Speak soon (as long as I don't have that massive heart attack!)

SassySusan · 14/08/2010 11:35

Nigella Lawson - that sounds a good look gumblossom

Jolly I am sending you a hug too.. I seem to spend all my time hanging out in huggy mn places... I'm sure this non-mn-hugging business is a myth perpetuated by AIBU trolls anyway...

MIL phoned to ask if they could come and stay next week... I said no problem. Then I remembered they wanted to come 2 days before I ov and stay for 2 days afterwards.

I told DH he either had to perform nightly on our creaky brass bed with his parents just through the wall - or phone his mother and tell her it wasn't convenient. Blush

My poor DH - what a predicament!

So he phoned her and neogotiated another weekend Grin The lenghts we go to eh?

gumblossom · 14/08/2010 08:47

hi Frosty!

I meant to say "Yoo-hoo" Rowing, not Rainbow as I know you are called something else now! Silly me.

I've come home with hair a bit like Nigella Lawson. Not sure if it is me, but it doesn't matter because it won't last.In a couple of days I will be back to my old self as I never get out the hairdryer or styling brush (don't even have one".But I must admit I do like having colour and no grey!

The hairdresser gave me afunny look when I said I hadn't been for over a year. He was very amazed I had lasted so long. But I've been a bit busy!

Anyway, must run again...

Frosticle · 14/08/2010 00:47

TFLS Lovely to have you drop in and to know its all going well. I am a dreadful last minute merchant too. I didn't have my hospital bag packed when I went into labour 6 days early. I had to pack it whilst having quite strong contractions. It was awful and it took me ages!! I wouldn't recommend leaving that particular job to the last minute.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Wow, Thewormisturning, that is an amazing (wonderful) story. Galwaygal, I hope that someone will help you to have a baby.Could your doctor's check for this?

I remember when I was growing up, one of my mum's friends kept having mc's. It turned out that she had an undiagnosed rhesus factor problem - basically they didn't give her the anti-d (is that what it's called?) after the birth of her first. She had a baby 1years after her first! I know that wouldn't be your issue as drs are much more aware of that sort of thing now.It was definitely a happy ending.

Jolly, I'm sorry this is happening to you.God, the waiting must be horrendous.I'm sending a hug, even if it is unmumsnet.

Yep, I definitely Oed yesterday.Have a nice temp rise this a.m to prove it. So in 12 days I'll know either way. I'll be off to suspended animation til then...I wish! I know I'll just be symptom spotting, trying to be super positive without overdoing it so I'm not gutted. At least I know we made a big effort, the troops were there,so if I have a good egg,all will be well.

I'm taking bromelain 3 x a day, supposedly it helps with implantation.I'm willing to give it a go, and it is a digestive enzyme so it can only do me good.

Hippy has your UTI/tummy pain gone? How far into the 2ww are you?

Yoo-hoo,Rainbow, are you dropping in? If you are I just want to say hi, and I miss you!

Sassy, I can't believe how insensitive people are! Some of the things they ask you.Bloody hell!

I'm off to the hairdressers now.Time to cover the gray hairs and pretend that I'm really a spritely 33, not 43!

Not sure if that link works. Think this might be better.

Galwaygal
I am so sorry to hear about your losses over the last 2 years - what a rollercoaster. Poor you. And I hope more than anything that your miracle happens. It happened for us. We had 8 years of fairly regular early miscarriages with no obvious reason. We had lots of tests. We tried lots of things and had a brilliant EPU who were just so supportive. What I think did it for us was my taking steroids prior to conception and in early pregnancy. We had heard about a lady in Liverpool who had had 19 miscarriages and her doctor had believed that it might be due to natural killer cells in the womb and treated her with steroids. Here is the link news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/2723601.stm
I appreciate that I am clinging to what I think "did" it for me but have you heard of this? I can give you more information if you wish.
I wish you very good luck and success.

And please don't give up -I will keep everything crossed for you!!

SassySusan · 13/08/2010 22:20

lunatic we dithered a bit when Catherine was alive - because she was so gorgeous! But enjoyed being a familiy of 3, doing all the fun stuff with a nearly 4 year old and we had never had sex without contraception, despite all the dithering. We conceived 1st cycle with Catherine.

Since Catherine died, I have been asked:
did you conceive her easily? have you been trying for another one since Catherine was born? Are you going to have another one now? Are you going to use fertility drugs/IVF? Would you adopt or foster? Or go to Africa/Asia/ where ever for a child?

I have also been told (by casual commentators) that I should relax/go back to my honeymoon hotel for a sexy time/buy a flimsy nightie etc.

There's a lot to be said for telling no one nothing...

Jollster my mother's people are from Cork too... may we all have the luck of the Irish xx

GG I feel your angst. Not in the same league as your situation, but I am starting to think of Monday as another inevitable MMC. Bit more brown CM today, which is exactly what happened with MMC#2. I know it can be nothing sinister, I just think in my case it's a symptom of not all well. Hey, at least Monday can only go better than I think it will... [Irish logic from the Cork side of my family].... Hi to all x

I do not like waiting. I do not not not not like waiting. Sorry, just need to say it out loud here. I am waiting to see when I will m/c or not. arrgggg. I do not like waiting.

SassySusan · 13/08/2010 08:31

lunatic yes, we are ttc - if you had asked, you wouldnt' have been the first - I am beset with (well-meaning) Hmm folk asking us if we will have another - it actually started before the funeral, and has now risen to a clamour. I'm assuming you got similar?

So pleased pg is progressing well - finger and toes crossed for you..

And for you GG and Jolly

Did see the studies on stress - well I am certainly that! And after that nice Consultant assured me it made no difference.

Gumblossom I suppose that kind of makes sense, and accounts why IVF isn't that effective for us...

gumblossom · 13/08/2010 06:12

Just wanted to add this , I read it on another forum:

"...intercourse may act to assist implantation. Animal studies reveal that exposure to seminal plasma, the fluid component of the ejaculate, is particularly important for achieving normal embryo development and implantation. Animals that become pregnant through artificial insemination or embryo transfer without being exposed to seminal plasma have substantially lower rates of implantation than those exposed to seminal plasma."

"...When the data from the two treatment centres were pooled...a significant improvement in the proportion of transferred embryos viable at 6?8 weeks gestation was seen in the intercourse group compared with the abstain group."

"...women exposed to semen via sexual intercourse exhibited a significant improvement in the proportion of transferred embryos that remained viable by 6?8 weeks gestation."

gumblossom · 13/08/2010 00:40

Hello...I've been MIA (literally - it's been SWI time!)I haven't had a temp rise yet, but I had full-on O pain last night, so I reckon O was last night or today, and I'm willing to bet there will be a temperature rise tomorrow. It feels like it has taken forever, it's day 17. It seems my new pattern is to ovulate later than in the past.I used to O on day 14 like clockwork.
My Dh said something like "I'm loving this horny phase you are going through". He has no idea about where we are at in the cycle! Which is good, otherwise he might feel the pressure.

Jolly, hang in there. Treat yourself to whatever helps and soon Monday will be here.

GG, I hope the aspirin does the trick for you.

I have to run, it's that awful time before school, I shouldn't even be here! Have hair to brush (DD), shirt to iron etc,etc...

Will come back later.

I don't mean tricks Hmm, just I think it is going to require more than the vest/pants combo tonight that's all!

eek at tricks.

randomimposter · 12/08/2010 20:25

thank you all... particularly Alba for popping in. Trying to stay positive.... Hmm

AlbaDeTamble · 12/08/2010 19:26

Oh Jolls, not surprised you don't want to move on Sunday, but it is all going to be fine this time, I've been chanting 3rd time lucky for you since my last post! But seriously, symptoms do start to wane at around 10 weeks, and brown spotting isn't unusual, so the best you can do for your baby is to think as positively as you can. SamB wrote some fabulous advice for getting through the first trimester yesterday on the pg post mc thread that is well worth reading, she put it all far better than I ever could. I know this weekend is going to last forever, spoil yourself as much as you can.

GG, I'm crossing my fingers for lucky 13 for you. I hope the aspirin work. Do you need to see a haematologist, possibly heparin would also help? Good that you have some reason hence something to work on to help it work this time.

BB and Hippy, hang in there and try to enjoy all that SWI now (before you're feeling nauseous or too big and bloated), I know, easy for me to say...

And Diege - hurry up back from that holiday with some good news!

Oh, and Gum, we already found out (frequent scans to stop me fretting), we're having another little boy Smile

Off for more 3rd time lucky chanting and finger crossing

hippychick66 · 12/08/2010 18:27

Tricks???? Hmm

Beattiebow · 12/08/2010 18:01

I didn't have a decent LP. Until recently my period was coming at around day 25 with spotting before that. For the last few months (which have I think had a couple of cps) I have had cycles of up to 37 days with LPs of around 18 days which was unheard of for me. I have been taking vitb6 though since April.

To be fair to the acupuncture lady, she has been on holiday for 2 weeks, and I'm not sure how firm our arrangements were before then!

Yes, that's the good thing aobut a short LP - at least SWI comes around quickly. although I'm not really sure that's a good thing.

Anyway, must gear up to more swi tonight, not quite sure I can muster up any enthusiasm or different tricks though!

hippychick66 · 12/08/2010 17:06

I took B6 for the whole cycle. It never extended my LP though. If you already have a decent LP why are you taking it?? If you don't mind me asking.

I did think that a good way to get through my EDD would be to be preggers again but then again I would probably just be worried about that preg so can't win really.

I did the same thing this month BB, I knew I should be SWI one day (although as it turns out I think it was too late). At the time I thought it was the right day to do it but I just couldn't be arsed to instigate the whole thing etc. I think that with me it's cos i am just thoroughly pissed off cos I feel like I've done the SWI and got preg twice and why the heck should I have to do it again Angry. Some months I'm just more in to it than others.

I hope that whatever effort you put in this month that it was just the right amount.

How bad that they forgot you were coming for your accu appointment!

I feel like AF is on her way (day 18!!!!). Still at least I'll be SWI again before I know it!

Beattiebow · 12/08/2010 16:47

Thanks Hippy. Yes, it is a tough time I know you know too. I am hoping that going on holiday will take my mind off it slightly, but of course getting pg again would be better!

I am pissed off because I missed a perfect opportunity and have no excuse! I have not had such a clear ov for months and just ignored the signs. No rhyme or reason really. Just to add to my lack of effort this month, I went to my acupuncture on tuesday and due to some mix up, the acupuncturist had already left! I'd been forgotten about. So if it happens this month, it is truly meant to be.

One more question - are you meant to take vit b6 after ovulation? i am tempted not to take it actually - have been having v long LPs and can't face another 17 day wait!

gum are you there at all? Is your silence as a result of tentative good news?

Also diege I think you are back from hols in the next couple of days - any positive news?

GG 13 is my lucky number. I am crossing everything for you. Don't worry you aren't being insensitive. We need a success on this thread now - it's been a good few weeks.

hippychick66 · 12/08/2010 16:37

BB I re-read your post. I can tell by the way you say things that you are feeling very down at the mo. Let's hope your DH's lads were ready and waiting for the egg.

I know this is a horrid time for you, it's hard not to think about the one's we lost isn't it?Sad

Sending lots of love to you, honey. Smile

hippychick66 · 12/08/2010 16:29

I think I speak for everyone when I say, "You are not being insensitive at all GG!" I would say that not being able to get a decent embryo and having to go through 8 MC's is just as bad (if not worse) than not being able to get pregnant at all.

I'm already thinking that if I get preg again I will not be able to enjoy it one bit and that's after 2 MC's. I totally understand what you're saying GG.

I wish only good things for you lovie. I hope you find your pot of gold at the end of your rainbow! (do you see what I did there??? Grin).

BB I thought eggs only lasted for 6 - 12 hours but I could be wrong. If you think you ov'd on Weds then Tuesdays SWI would be great timing.

jolly ((((())))))) Much love to you.

I think I am heading for a record short cycle. I think I ov'd on day 8 and usually only have about an 11 day LP. So I could get AF on day 19 - how mad is that.

Am taking the anti - Bs and they seem to be working - plus no rash!!!

Love to all.
