BUnderTheBonnet · 02/06/2010 10:47

Busymum if you do get pg straight away, you would have absolutely no idea of dates, so that would be a good reason for an early scan, wouldn't it? Good luck!

busymum05 · 01/06/2010 21:16

Hi BUnderTheBonnet
thats what i thought, if i was to get a BFP and i wasn't actually pg think that would be another big blow...but on the other hand i've read some women who have fallen before even having a normal period.Think im just gonna go for it but keep an open mind i suppose if i don't get AF within 6 weeks or so and do get BFP then i can take it as good news. Im going to look into the ovulation thing with hcg in body as that is a very good point thanks for advice you have been very helpful x

BUnderTheBonnet · 01/06/2010 18:24

I don't think there's any medical reason you shouldn't go for it busymum - I did last month! My GP and midwife both said I should go for it as soon as I felt I wanted to. However, if you still have hcg, will your body ovulate anyway? Dunno And if you do get pg, will you believe a BFP without seeing a BFN in between? Sorry, I haven't helped at all...

8rubberduckies · 01/06/2010 11:06

Morning all, hope you all had a good Bank Holiday, mine was slightly blighted by the arrival of AF, and then Sunday the worst period pains and cotton-wool head and general pissed-off-ness I have suffered in months! Anyone think there may be a correlation between ridiculously heavy-hitting AF and high fertility the follwing month ? Certainly hope there is something that can make the last couple of days worth all the pain for me and those who were unfortunate enough to spend any time with me this weekend!

hi dagitalgirl...unfortunatly im 100% sur i have MC i had a scan last mon and show a silent MC im off to hospital this morning for blood test to check HCG levels, thanks for your advice, i just feel this last week has dragged and seems like it will be forever before i can start to try again..i'm kinda hanging onto the idea i will be clear to start as soon as bleeding stops hence why i joined this thread..heres hoping for a march baby!!

digitalgirl · 31/05/2010 21:58

Am only lurking on this thread but I didn't want your post to go unanswered busymum. So sorry to hear of your loss. Are you sure you've definitely miscarried if you're still testing strong positive? Have you had a scan to show whether your womb is clear? It's just that there's someone on then 'just mc' thread who had slow rising hcg levels and has been bleeding on and off for a month. I'm not sure your body will begin the process for ovulation if you're still producing pregnancy hormones. It might be best to wait till you get a negative result. But do ask your gp for advice. I had a mc at 7 weeks and it took my body five weeks after the bleeding stopped to ovulate.

busymum05 · 31/05/2010 17:22

Hi, just need some advice..how soon after bleeding stops from MC do you think its safe to SWI and do you think i should have a neg pg test first, im still testing a strong pos

Feeling bonkers and bloated.

Still no AF so 32 days of this cycle but pregnancy test says negative.

Gah!

8rubberduckies · 30/05/2010 20:57

I hope you manage to hit the nail on the head so to speak this week rockbird, it seems like a very long wait til OV for me, being just on CD2!

Miffles I was diagnosed with PCOS in June 2007, although I think I suffered from it for quite a few years before, but did not know anything about it so was not aware of the symptoms. I had quite a "sensitive" consultant, who said I would most probably never conceive naturally, and I was gutted, because although I was single at the time I had always known I wanted children.

Quite a nice end to the story though, cos I met my other half 3 months later and after a whirlwind romance we found out I was pg in the December! A complete accident but was over the moon and ds was born 14 months after being diagnosed! After such an easy and immediate 1st, looks like #2 could be more tricksy though

Rockbird · 30/05/2010 19:43

Hi all. Not much news from me, shorter AF this month, now looking out for signs. We're on hols at the moment and DH is going elsewhere Tues to Sat this week so I'm hoping we don't miss the boat this month.

How's everyone else?

SaorAlba · 30/05/2010 17:13

Hi all

Joining March bus is a bit of a surprise for me as I was planning to give DP another month to get used to the idea of ttcing. He reckons we should just go for it now (yay). So on this bus. My stats are: Ttc #1 cycle 1 ucl? Cd3

Just off the pill so not all that hopeful that I'll stay on this bus, but fingers crossed!

Miffles · 30/05/2010 16:50

Not for definite, rubberduckes...I'm waiting for an appointment for a scan. But my mum and sis both have it. I had irregular periods, but went on the pill when i got married. Four years later I've come off, and my periods are really really light and every 17 days. Also put on a stone and thinking of taking out shares in my beauty saloon as going so regularly now for waxing!!

Will have the scan and then be referred to a fertility specialist. What's your story?

8rubberduckies · 29/05/2010 21:22

Hiya Miffles, am just about to get a refill on the red, the first went down very well

I just read your question on the Feb bus thread but thought I'd answer it here. I've heard from a couple of different posters on here and elsewhere on the net that temping does not work for women with PCOS, but I decided to have a look on fertility friend anyway just to see what it was all about (it's somewhere you can record fertility observations and it will tell you when you probably ovulated by comparing your stats and signs to other charters).

I decided to give it a go because there were loads of people on there charting who have PCOS / are on Metformin, so it must work for some.

So, have you been diagnosed with PCOS?

Miffles · 29/05/2010 20:40

Welcome Rubberduckies. Glad to hear that your cycle settling down. ... posted a question to you on Feb bus, so pleased to see you here! You've answered me about temping - is this how you know you ov'd?

Well done on the glass of red - I've already done that and am on my second! Bring on the sunshine for bank holiday w/e.

8rubberduckies · 29/05/2010 20:32

Hi all, just been kicked off the February bus by af's arrival today, nice to see some familiar faces on the bus, hopefully this is a very fruitful one for many of us!

I am really p*$$"d off to see af; like everyone else, I really thought I could have nailed it this time, but on the plus side I am really chuffed that my cycle has shortened by 23 days from the last cycle. Just started temping this cycle, and even though I have PCOS my temps seemed to correlate with what they should be doing at certain points of my cycle (temping doesn't work sometimes if you have PCOS).

Anyhow, I'm feeling positive about this cycle now, so here goes for Sat's stats with me on the end...

dark as the test line...

BUnderTheBonnet · 28/05/2010 15:24

bzzbee Ov sticks - I get mine in bulk off ebay (they're called one-step), and they do the job fine for me. Boots do more expensive versions, but I've never used them so I can't comment on them. You pee on them once a day (not first thing) and they show up the level of LH in your wee (LH is the hormone which triggers ovulation). On the one-step ones, there's always a faint 2nd line, but you're waiting for the 2nd line to be as dark at the test line. That means your LH has peaked and you're about to ovulate. I ususally get 2 or 3 days of 2 dark lines, and my ovualtion happens the day after (confirmed by temping). It's a good way to know when to SWI like rabbits! But I know they don't seem to work for everyone. The one's I use are cheap though, so worth a go?

bzzbee · 28/05/2010 09:30

Hi All

I'm still pretty new to the whole ttc thing, as in ttc in earnest.
So far I have started taking santogen mum-to-be a week or so ago, and this morning broached the subject with my OH of him taking some vits/zince - he is seriously anti-taking any vitamins or anything, but seeing as he was talking about how lovely it would be for dd1 to have a brother or sister I thought it was a good time to put in my request ;-)

So my questions are:

  1. What is recommended for guys in terms of supplements? I think there are standard 'dad to be' versions out now, right?
  2. How do Ov prediction kits work - not sure I can do the temp thing right now as it sounds like a lot of work, but I have a fair idea when I ov so a little more precision might help.
  3. Are there any other tips? (Other than to actually SWI, which is kind of key!)

Good luck to everyone this month.

I'm having a funny start to the month - my temperature chart is all over the place. It's usually very low at this stage, but pretty steady. It's been zigzagging like crazy, and took ages to come down from last month's high point. Does any one know enough about temping to understand that?
