Morning all, hope everyone had a good weekend?

Lychees I understand how you feel completely. I think it's normal. One of my BF in RL recently announced she was pregnant with her 2nd by accident! I was consumed with for ages and felt it was totally unfair, I suppose I still do if I'm honest.

I'm grateful that we can let off steam here with each other. FX it'll be your turn soon.

Thanks Keziah. DS is 28 months now. I think he would really love a sibling [or two ].

Please don't think that I'm not happy to hear of your BFP's, ladies. It is good to hear positive stories and they give me hope.

I was just having an off day yesterday.

Good luck all.

Keziahhopes · 15/05/2010 23:25

It can be hard when other people get what we also long for, as well as being happy for them. I think it is ok to feel sad whilst already having a ds. Same as I think it is ok to long for a first child when thankful for everything else I have (but no child).

How old is your ds? x

Lychees · 15/05/2010 17:14

Hi ladies,

I also chat on another forum and a few of us ladies had been keeping each other company during the 2ww and three of them got their BFP's in the last few days.

I feel a bit low because I only have the usual symptoms of AF's imminent arrival so I've already lost hope for this cycle .

I am trying to focus on my blessings; after all I already have a DS but its still difficult not to feel sad about things.

gingerbaby · 15/05/2010 07:30

Brilliant, thanks both of you. Will hunt some down from Amazon.

Keziahhopes · 14/05/2010 21:58

Hi gingerbaby - I found amazon about £7 cheaper a box and so I get 2 cycles out of a box now, so about £6-7 a cycle now. It was only the first cycle that I used the whole box and now my monitor only asks for one or two after ovulation I think my opinion was - yes it is a cost, but I want a child and it is cheaper than private fertility or childcare, but found cheapest source of sticks

Missraines glad you have an action plan, once cycle than gp. It helps knowing your way forward sometimes I found. I found my gp ordered all the tests himself and my dh semen analysis was done at the fertility part of hospital - but no wait at all for that! Then when got tests he referred me to the hospital. With your previous history am sure they will help you appropriately. Even if damage, one ovary should be fine so everything is possible - as essence just posted

Lychees · 14/05/2010 20:37

Hi gingerbaby.

You have to use sticks as long as the monitor asks for them to allow it build a full picture of your cycle.

Typically, you will use all 20 sticks in the first cycle so you could be poas for a while after ovulation this time. Then, as the monitor learns your cycle, you tend to use ten sticks per cycle. This is the case if your cycle is not exceptionally longer than the norm.

Try getting sticks from Amazon. I know they're cheaper on there.

Don't worry about sounding like a cheapskate, they do work out to be quite expensive .

Good luck.

gingerbaby · 14/05/2010 20:10

Hi ladies, hope you don't mind me elbowing my way in but I had a CBFM question... I've just started using it this month and am on day 7. Would I be able to use wee sticks up until I ovulate and then stop until the next cycle? I get the impression from the instructions you use wee sticks all the way through. Is this more accurate? Would I save sticks is I only used them until ovulation?

Painfully aware this makes me sounds like a total cheapskate!!

Thank you.

missyraines - hope this cycle is the lucky one for you!

DH came home tonight and told me about a work colleague of his that has been ttc for 18mo+ and has a low sperm count. They were about to start IVF and went for their first appointment only to find out they are pg!!

Hello everyone else. Hope you all have good wkends. I work Saturday mornings but not sure what we're going to do the rest of the weekend. Hope the weather will be nice.

Lychees · 14/05/2010 17:38

Missyraines, given your medical history, I would expect your GP to send you for tests even if you haven't been trying for a year. Hopefully, you won't have to go if this cycle is the one - good luck.

Feeling better today but very hectic at work. Roll on the weekend .

Morning all.

missraines yep agree totally with keziah's advice. I'm in process at moment. I would prob advise you to just go to GP for chat as some fertility clinics have really long waiting lists. Good luck this cycle though.

vnewmummy sounds like a plan, you're so organised!

Good luck medee!

How's everyone else doing?

OP posts:
Missyraines · 14/05/2010 07:16

Thanks Kezia

I was feeling really sad last night. I think we'll give it one more cycle then seek tests.

I have had an ovarian cyst (2& 1/2 lbs) removed 5 years ago and that is playing on my mind that it did some damage.

I really appriciate your reply and will keep you updated.

Fingers crossed for you and hubby for this cycle.

Keziahhopes · 13/05/2010 22:21

Missraines - gp first yes. If you are over 35 and being ttc for 6mths or more go to gp, or if younger and ttc for one year is general rule of thumb.

Generally they offer all the basic tests needed to check everything is ok then refer. If no basic tests the fertility consultant will just order basic gp tests and say come back in about 3 months!

I got: Semen Analysis for dh - he just had to go to local hospital, in private room where leave sample, that is it. Then I got a basic blood test, to check my health - fbc, u+e, anaemia, thyroid, prolactin and few others. Then the 3 day and 21 day (or actually 7 days past ovulation) blood test to check my fertility levels. You will need a smear in the current 6 months and a chlaymidia test - can be done by nurse at dr's at the same time.

So might be worth at least getting recent smear test and chlaymidia swab if not have recent smear? Only tip I found was dh has to abstain from sex 3 days before his test, so timing it right for your cycle helps!

Missyraines · 13/05/2010 22:11

Day 30 and got my period so will press M tomorrow. Really thought we'd cracked it this cycle as we did the deed the day before my first peak. I guesss it's not going to be that easy. Starting to feel sad about it all now.

My hubby said that this time ( seeing as I'm in the same country this time) we'd go for it properly. Poor bloke!

Starting to feel we may have to explore other avenues.

Is the first step to go to our GP?

Keziahhopes · 13/05/2010 22:07

vnewmummy - your plan sounds good! My DH physically can only release sperm every 2 days, which reduces the pressure and the fertility consultant actually said because his SA showed just below normal levels of sperm to not bd every day, but to do so every 2 days to improve number and quality - that really helped us!

Glad you changed your monitor essence - sorry I forgot to say how, oops!

All the best medee and vnewmummy this cycle.

Lychees hope head ok. I find extra water helps with headaches, or hayfever meds at this time of year! Thanks for the kind words, it just sort of hit me, I am coming up to 35, not ovulating, got other physical probs and so would love a child. thanks, x

essenceofSES · 13/05/2010 20:15

Thanks boba and Lychees - I managed to work it out this morning and have it on day 2

vnewmummy - your GOF plan sounds good

Medee - fingers crossed!

Lychees - hope your headache went away?

vnewmummy · 13/05/2010 19:02

Hi,

It is day nine for me and I have a high day. Last month I ovulated on day 13/14. Do you think its worth waiting to bding tomorrow rather than tonight?

We can only manage it every 2nd day as DH starts to feel the pressure once he knows those peaks are on the way...! So was thinking maybe do it day 10, 12, 14, and 16.(assuming peak on day 13/14 again) any thoughts ladies?

Gosh glad its almost the weekend. Anyone testing this weekend? We need more good news stories x

Lychees · 13/05/2010 17:43

Morning All!

essenceofSES, glad AF has finally arrived for you. Just press and hold the "m" button twice and it will go to CD2. Also, let us know the rest of your stats and we will add you to the list again, if you like.

keziah, we are all here to support one another so feel free to offload if you need a shoulder.

I have a bad head today. Not sure why but the paracetamol is not touching it and I don't want to use anything else just in case. I just need to plough through the pain, I guess .... or perhaps some chocolate will help .

I will be going to the Dr's next week for my blood results. DH still doesn't really want to go for his test until AF arrives as he is still really nervous about it so he doesn't want to do it unless he has to.

essenceofSES · 12/05/2010 20:57

Thanks keziah! How do I set it for day 2 tomorrow? (Sorry, I expect I could find out if I read the instructions )
DS was 1yo on Sunday!!! We had a great day and he was a little star

Keziahhopes · 12/05/2010 20:55

Hi - *essenceofSES" - you can set the CBFM up to 5 days after your period starts - so could press m again and set it tomorrow for day 2, so it is accurate. Glad cycle starting again. How old is your DS?

essenceofSES · 12/05/2010 20:38

Hi!
Don't know if you remember me but I posted a couple of months ago having just bought a CBFM but my periods hadn't returned as still BFing DS. Well after a bit of brown discharge on Sat, AF arrived today!
I actually started on CBFM on Sunday morning as I didn't really know what was happening so it reckons today was day 4. Should I let it carry on like that this cycle or start again by pressing the m button again in the morning? (TMI - but Sat was definitely just a small anount of brown discharge and today def AF)

Enough about me!
Great to see some more BFPs and here's to many more!

Keziah - sorry you're having a tough time but - as others have said - no PCOS is good. Hope the 4 weeks goes quickly for you.
