Hello all, and good luck - I'm wondering if any of you can help with my question. I came off depo provera about six months ago so am hoping that my periods will return soon so we can start TTCing. At the moment, I'm finding it very hard not to know where I am, though a brief spell of painful boobs a fortnight ago gave me hope that my hormones might be kicking back into a cycle.

If I bought a CBFM, would the results indicate whether I was getting to the point where the depo was almost gone and ovulation might be about to start again?

Hi everyone,

Im away for a long weekend. Hopefully it will take my mind off testing. I am still showing high on monitor and it is day 24. I am not too sure how I feel as have some symptoms but could just as well be PMT. Who knows i will have to wait until Tues!

Wishing you all a lovely weekend x

Keziah, hope you feel better soon. Anyone doing anything nice over then bank holiday weekend?

Keziahhopes · 27/05/2010 22:59

Ooh - forgot to say, my chest infection spread to sinus, so another 7 days on nasty antibiotics, so no sunshine and no ttc#1 for me.

Keziahhopes · 27/05/2010 22:58

Hi Lychees - worth waiting for bloods as you will find that all fertility dr will do first time is ask questions and do bloods if not done - with another wait then till that dr can see you (I am doing 3mths inbetween 1st and 2nd time). The other basic tests can all be ordered and done by Gp to save you time - I needed clamydia test, in date smear (in last 6mths) - so had 2 together.

Yes, sadly funding is only for up to 3 cycles of IVF if needed and then only if you right age and have no children. My area only funds 1 or 2 cycles from what I have heard.

But there is lots that can be done to boost chances of conception before "funding" is an issue - such as internal scans to check you are healthy, check ovulation, unblock fallopian tubes if needed etc.

Lychees · 27/05/2010 15:45

Afternoon All,

Not much activity going on here. Hope everyone is well today.

Keziah, thanks for explaining the 21 day bloods. Only wish I had pushed it with the first DR I saw [I did tell him I had cycles averaging 32 days]. Now, I have to wait a few weeks before going for tests again then a couple of weeks for results before any chance of referral.

On a more positive note, DH got his SA results today and everything was normal, thankfully.

Forgot to mention but when I saw my DR, she mentioned that I would not be eligible for funding should I need fertility treatment as I have DS. I completely understand given how stretched our NHS is but I really, really hope it does not come to that. I don't really want to accept that DS might be an only child because we cannot afford any treatment.

Lychees - I was told at the fertility clinic that although it is known as a day 21 test, actually it isn't - it is just that most people's cycles are 28 days long and it assumes therefore that people peak at day 14 - it should be tested 7 days post ovulation... so if that is day 25 for you it sounds right.

I go to see fertility dr in 3 weeks now, to look at tests and probably have a hsg ordered too.

Hope everyone has lovely bank holiday.

boba82 · 26/05/2010 14:29

That sounds quire promising then Lychees. I just googled acupuncture in my area and spent a couple of hours researching their websites until I found a good one. I think go for a well established place with good customer testimonials etc and registered with acupuncture society.

Thanks for peaks info also and to you too vnewmummy

OP posts:
Lychees · 26/05/2010 11:43

Back from the DRs and day 5 bloods were all normal, however day 21 bloods showed that I had not ovulated but I got my peaks on CD18 and CD19 so DR and I think that I had my bloods taken too early. So I am back to the hospital for 25 day bloods this cycle to see if this theory is right. My DR said that because of my age, she would then refer me to the fertility clinic [I forgot to ask how long the waiting list was but will check next time].

Although, I told her that I was taking multi-vits specifically for conception, she told me to take zinc supplements and look into acupuncture as lots of her pregnant patients swore that both these helped them get there BFPs. Lets hope that's the case, Boba. Perhaps, I shall give it a go [needles have never really bothered me] but how do you go about finding a genuine, reputable practitioner?

On another note, Boba it's quite normal for me to get my peaks on CD18/19 so no peaks at CD16 doesn't necessarily mean you're in for a long cycle again. Hope you get your peaks soon.

vnewmummy, sending you much luck for this cycle.

Morning everyone else!

boba82 · 26/05/2010 10:04

vnewmummy I will keep FX for you too. We need another BFP to cheer us up.

OP posts:
vnewmummy · 26/05/2010 09:53

Hi Boba - really please it went well last night. You are brave, the bruise bit still scared me!

Try not to worry just yet about your cycle. My cycle is only 28 days and in cycle one I got peak on day 17-18 so Fc for you.

I still have highs too on day 22. I feel bit stupid writing this but I must admit I have got my hopes up this month. Usually I am more realistic but know i will be really upset if AF arrives next week. I keep thinking I have symptoms but maybe its just in my mind!

Well I am off to work now, seeing clients at their home so lazy start rather than 7am commute!

x

Morning everyone, Lychees hope you get on ok @ docs.

Had 1st session acupuncture last night and it was really good. I will be going weekly for approx 3 cycles. The acupuncturist(?) was really helpful and I have a lot of confidence in her. Was not at all sore, only a bit uncomfortable/bruise like when she was twiddling needles about but overall very relaxing. FX it works!

Must say though I usually wake up every morning with sinus pain and need to pop my ears to clear - nothing this morning. Maybe just a coincedence but I'm hoping not.

CD16 for me today and still on highs . I suspect I'm in for another 64 day cycle.

essenceofSES · 26/05/2010 07:33

Morning!
Sorry not to update the list but am posting from my phone.
Stupidly excited as I've got my first high today! Only problem is that DS and I go away tomorrow until Monday so have booked a GOF with DH for tonight and will just have to hope that that's enough

Lychees - hope your Dr appointment goes well today. I'm with you on the headless chicken / how much can I cram in on my day off routine. Wednesdays and Sundays are normally my only full day off and on Wednesdays I try and focus on doing things with DS and doing the odd bit of housework in those few small moments when I can!

Lychees · 25/05/2010 17:49

Happy Birthday/belated birthday wishes Shaggy and sorry AF got you. Hope you feel better soon, Babyhoping. Essence, one month I didn't get any highs before I peaked so there is still time.

I'm going to try to get to the Drs tomorrow to chat about my blood results but I have a busy day planned; have some stuff to sort out at the bank and birthday presents to get for parties this weekend and I have DS tomorrow which means everything will take twice as long. I'm always running around like a headless chicken on my day off.

Catch up with you all soon.

vnewmummy · 25/05/2010 17:30

Shaggy - sorry AF got you. Dont worry about your age, I had my DD at age 39 and here I am 41 trying for no. 2. I am sure you will be ok age wise hon.

Good luck tonight Boba - interested to see how you get on.

I will try and wait until next Tuesday before testing.

Is it your birthday today though?! Happy birthday!
Hope work deadline works out ok and isn't too much of a headache.

Boba - hope the accupuncture goes well

vnewmummy - I agree that I'd try and hold out until AF is due before testing. (easier said than done I know!)

BabyHoping - sorry you're not feeling great. Hope watever it is clears up soon.

Keziah - hope you're feeling better each day. It is very frustrating about different PCTs having different criteria.

I'm on CD14 and still no sign if a high. I'm starting to wonder whether I've re-started ovulating yet... It's only CD14 of my first cycle though! Must calm down!!!

Just updating my stats. AF arrived today, but I knew this was going to happen because my temps started dropping two days ago. I did manage to avoid re-testing though and have learned my lesson, I think.

I am bummed about AF, but mostly bummed about having to add another year to my age!! Flipping hell - it feels like my chances of ever having a child are slipping away.

Huge work deadline looming so will catch up with all your news when I have proper headspace again.

Hope you're all well!

keziah really sorry to hear about your troubles. Try and take the rest of this cycle to relax and get yourself healthy. I know this is really hard but most important thing is that you're well.

Baby having acupuncture tonight after work. I'm so excited and a wee bit nervous of the needles. Will let you know tomorrow how I get on.

How is everyone else getting on?

OP posts:
vnewmummy · 25/05/2010 07:39

How about Shaggy? Have you tested again?

Keziahhopes it is a joke how the NHS can treat people in different areas completely different.I understand your frustration. You take it easy hon and take it work on getting better.

Day 21 for me and still high? As Boba said either not ovulating this month or maybe FC pregnant. God I am really hoping for the later. My cycle is always 28 days and as far as i know i ovulate so i am praying maybe. It is so bad as you start to imagine you are and thinking up symptons. I am trying to convince myself my boobs feel bit different and last week i hada metalic taste in my mouth. Or prehaps I am just in fooling myself. How early can you test?

XX

Keziahhopes · 24/05/2010 21:57

Lychees if I lived near Harley Street I think I would take that option too.

Thanks for well wishes - had not great weekend, but can potter gently today. And breathe, always helpful - it was just the nail in the coffin having discovered my progesterone was only 24 and when I see dr in 4 weeks know they will say, more tests (ie hsg etc) which they could have given me last time ~(I say this as know someone under same dr who got all tests, 6weeks turnaround not the 3mths I got and getting clomid with higher progesterone level than me; am really happy for her, but down on me for not even getting testing in 3 months, with no hope of treatment for another 3 now!) and this medication ruled out even ttc without assistance...

Ok, rant over.. just low and ill.

So - who going to get a bfp to make us all smile ?

BabyHoping · 24/05/2010 17:38

Hi everyone,

I´ve been a bit more relaxed in the last days but now I´m sick... I think I caught too much sun during the weekend and now I have either a cold or the flu, not sure what...

In my TTC plan, I bough this weekend a supplement for DH which contains L-arginine and Maca. It´s supposed to be good to improve sperm and I just thought that everything that can help is good...

Boba when is your acunpuncture session? I want to know how it went, as I´m also considering it, just a bit afraid of the needles....

justshaggy any news?

Keziah hope you are feeling better... Get well soon

boba82 · 24/05/2010 12:16

That sounds quite reasonable Lychees, if I lived closer to London then I would probably go for that too.
