Hi chocciechip. My doctors surgery has a policy of calling up patients if results are not "normal". Think they have three classifications - normal range; not normal range but no action; out of normal range and action required. I know everywhere is different but I'm wondering if your surgery will call you up to discuss if you don't make the first move. It would be better to get the results on your terms, rather than theirs, wouldn't it? Not trying to tell you what to do by any means, just don't want you getting surprised if your phone rings unexpectedly. Re your fertility clinic referral - do you know which clinic you are referred to? If so, can you call them to find out approximate waiting times? Good luck.

rosieposey · 13/07/2010 17:52

My cycle was 29 days on the months that i was ov'ing but last month it was 32 days and this month it may well be the same as the digi opks didnt detect an LH surge - im not sure when to start peeing on the sticks or if i should go with the longer cycle that i got last month or my shorter usual 29/30 day cycle - will have a good old read of the manual when it gets here.

Thanks for the welcome Will have a read through all your previous pages too.

Am considering charting in tandem too but also not sure if its a bit of a faf, i see a few of you on here do it as well as CBFM will have a little investigation into that as well. Still have another 12 or so days to go till AF (if last month is anything to go by) so will keep posting on here and getting advice, cant wait to start next month i want to see some peaks as its a bit depressing to see no and only O on those opk's.

Stats are:
Rosieposey TTC#5 cycle 9 CBFM cycle 1, age 38, UCL 29-33 CD?

chocciechip · 13/07/2010 17:13

ljg Not necessarily. The coverline is really meaningless, so don't get too hung up on it. See it rather as a visual aid to help you see the biphasic pattern more clearly. If your temps stay consistently low below the coverline, that would raise a question. But you will normally get temps that bounce around and they often rise back up again the next day.

The temp dip to really look out for post ovulation is one occuring between 7-12 DPO - this indicates implantation, but I think you're still too early for that. There's an excellent charting thread here.

Starlet No I didn't. I chickened out yet again. I just can't handle more bad news at the moment and it feels like its been an endless run of it recently. I know I need to go but . I appreciate your irritation at what feels like a wasted visit. Our GPs refused to give DH any analysis of his SA results. So you can imagine, we had these test results only to be told he wasn't qualified to interpret them and at the time no appointment for fertility clinic (We got around it eventually by phoning the hospital direct and asking to be put through to the lab! Grrrr) We're in the queue for fertility clinic appointment but no idea when/if we will get an appointment. Boba Have you heard anything back about your appointment?

Starlet22 · 13/07/2010 16:21

Hi everyone,

Welcome rosieposey. For the first cycle the CBFM will ask you to start testing on day 6 (I think - at least mine does now but I have a short cycle). And then it depends on when you ovulate as to when it will stop asking you to test. Best to have a pack of 20 sticks with you for the first cycle, just in case.

Hi Storm - cheer up! Am sure you will get your BFP soon.

ljg - sorry, I can't answer your question as I don't chart but perhaps chocciechip will know as she knows her stuff when it comes to charting!

boba - how did it go chasing up the fertility clinic? They must be able to give you a date now, surely, even if that date is not for a few weeks.

baby - when do we get your next update (am very excited for you).

chocciechip - did you collect your test results? I got mine yesterday. It was a bit odd, really. Both bloods (for me, taken on day 4 and day 18 due to short cycle) came back "normal" (which the receptionist had already told me when I made the appointment). I specifically asked for an appointment because I wanted the exact figures. When I asked the GP for the details he said "of course", only to tap into his screen and then tell me that the hospital didn't provide the breakdown but just stated that the levels were within the "normal" range. Pretty useless, really. So anyway, we are now waiting for DH's SA results and go back for the results in two weeks. Either way (whether the results are normal or not) I think we are entitled to a referral to the fertility clinic, but goodness knows how long the waiting list is. I'm also slightly concerned, having started to read about infertility like an obsessed woman, that I have symptoms of endometriosis which could be giving us difficulties TTC. Think I'll raise this with the GP when we go back for DH's SA results - if the waiting time for the fertility clinic is rather long, I'd rather try and get some assurances re endometriosis before then.

Sorry for the rant.

How is everyone else?

PS Lychees - forgot to congratulate you on the weight loss - well done!!

boba82 · 13/07/2010 16:11

Hi rosieposey I remember you from a previous bus.

You start on day 1 yes and it usually asks you to start POAS around day 6. You will use all 20 sticks on your first time. It asks you to POAS when it wants one so you will know.

You have to programme it within the time frame you want to use it each morning. Eg if you set it at 9am you can turn it on between 6am and midday. It does 3 hours either way of whatever time you set it at.

Post your stats and we can add you to the list.

Must dash, off to acupuncture, see you ladies tomo. x

rosieposey · 13/07/2010 14:09

Hello ladies, Do you mind if i join you? I havent been on a bus for a couple of months as have been out of luck on the ovulation front i think, last month and this month used the Clearblue digi ovulation sticks and have just had O every single day (on day 20 now) so im giving up on this month as im pretty sure im not going to ovulate . Have just ordered a CBFM today and the sticks to go with it and am hoping that it will be easier to use as it measures estrogen too doesnt it?

They arent cheap but i am 39 in January and would like to give this next 18 months my best shot at getting pg, not had too much luck with the opks so hoping that the CBFM does the trick.

Can i just ask, do you have to start peeing on it from day one of your cycle/period? and when do you know when to stop?

BabyHoping · 13/07/2010 13:56

Storm I hope you feel better. Just try to keep positive and think that this might be your last AF for several months...

ljg72 · 12/07/2010 20:36

Hello Ladies, anybody know...If you get a temp dip below cover line 4 days PO does that mean conception hasn't taken place?
New to charting...thanks

StormTTCbabyNo1 · 12/07/2010 19:56

chocciechip thanks for all the info about charting and how it helps you. I think I should def give it a go......especially since its really helped you get in control of your cycle.

BBT should be here tomorrow or Weds - having it delivered to work so DH doesn't tell me off for buying yet another contraption to detect OV and help me get PG - I know I'm obsessed, and I know it'll run its course eventually - I just need to be obsessed for a bit, its still very much in the forefront of my mind what happened earlier in the year. THERE I justified it....yet again I have bags of discipline and will power, I'm sure I can stick to it, or at least give it a good go xx

Anyhoo.................

Boba I have no experience of Fertility Clinics or anything like that but I agree with vnewmummy - Call them, hassel them whatever it takes to get them to give you an appointment hun xx

Starlet sory if it was me who mucked up your stats xx

vnewmummy · 12/07/2010 17:51

Oh it worked I can do the bold thing!

vnewmummy · 12/07/2010 17:51

Hi everyone!

Keziah - well done on reducing your BMI, that is really good.

Storm & Baby thanks for the infor, gosh its so confussing. We have been b'ding for last 4 nights so I guess as it is only showing peak day 2 we had better do it for another 3 days to make sure. Baby my husband sounds like yours, its difficult for them, at least we just lay down!!!

Baby the ovitrelle sounds interesting, maybe its just to give you a boost, super charge things. That is what the clomid is doing for me as all my results were ok.

Boba - hon call and hassle them, its the only way. Even if you call every week until you get an apt.

Lastly - Choccie, wow you are really organised and I think its great that you are in charge and the info that the charting has provided.

I dont know how to make your names go bold even when i follow instructions!

Oh well I had better get in the mood for some more loving tonight!!!! xx

chocciechip · 12/07/2010 14:47

keziah Well done on the weight loss! That's really hard work and you've done brilliantly! x

starlet I have test results to pick up today too ... but I'm too scared. Was meant to pick them up Weds last week and have been bottling it every day since.

girafe Sorry to hear you're down, but hope a break away will do you a world of good.

lychees It only takes one brave determiend sperm, and there's no way of knowing which one that's going to be. I'm telling myself this all the time because this was a very bad month for me too and I'm not feeling great about my chances either.

vnewmummy Good news about the clomid! I think peak days are peak days though .... my charts confirm that ovulation happens for me on the second peak of every month, and SWI';ing the day before and on ovulation are the most important times - which for me are the peak days on the monitor, confirmed by my chart.

storm sounds like you bought exactly the right thing. To answer your question, I do think charting is working for me, although the CBFM got me pregnant twice last year and I haven't had a BFP this year despite using the CBFM and charting.

I chart because the CBFM does not tell you for sure if you DID ovulate, just that you might be about too: charting does. I can't bear the idea of SWI'ing every month and possibly not knowing something was wrong.

Also, if I screw up the CBFM - e.g. last month I forgot to test on one day and I think it messed up the testing because I didn't get any highs (i.e. it couldn't detect estrogen rises). Regardless, we SWI when I saw EWCM (from charting), and shortly after that peaks arrived.

I've had two MCs, one a MMC, and charting can warn you that a MC is happening (temps start dropping). I want to know if a MC is definitely happening, especially if I have to argue for early scans. I also don't want to go 10 weeks like I did with the MMC, not knowing things had soured. I hope charting will help there too.

I also don't trust the medical commuity to guide me properly, so I see the charts as 'data' I can take along with me to doctors if I need too. I've noticed from charting, for example, that I spot very lightly for sometimes up to 5 days before my cycle starts, and I am worried about this ... but now have the data to take with.

It requires a bit of discipline though. DH been trying to get me to stop charting because he thinks me waking up early to temp is taking its toll on me. TBH, I usually go straight back to sleep, sometimes even start dozing off with thermometer in my mouth. .... not ready to stop yet.

boba82 · 12/07/2010 13:54

Keziah well done on the weight loss, keep it up girl!

baby that all sounds really positive, hopefully you'll be providing us with our BFP soon. Afraid I've not heard of your medication either.

Good luck starlet, let us know how you get on.

Advice for me please, been approx 8-9 weeks since I returned our form to Fertility clinic. This came with initial letter which stated 12 week wait list. Do you think I should phone them to see if we have an appointment yet or just wait?

Hi Everyone,

Keziah Well Done on the BMI front hun . Thats great news.

vnewmummy congrats on the peak, and the sperm being 'happy', the egg reaching a good size. Lets hope this is your month hun, it al sounds really promising. I'm tied in knots - I have everything I can cross crossed for you mate.

CD3 for me - fecking red tide of doom!!!!

XX

BabyHoping · 12/07/2010 12:55

Hum... I swear I added a post this morning but can not find it! Well, it was just to thank you for all the birthday wishes!

vnewsmummy when you get a peak in the monitor it means the LH hormone has been detected and you will probably ovulate in the next 36 hours. So you do not really ovulate right after getting the peak but its teh best time to start BDing.

I went back to the doctor today... Also in the morning I got my firts peak of the month. They checked if the sperm from last BDing was happy, it was ;-). Also, the egg had reached a good size and doctor told me indeed I was ovulating but the egg had not left the ovarium yet. He gave me a shot of ovitrelle 250 and told me this was going to induce a stronger ovulation and might increase my chances of getting pregnant... It was the first time I heard about this medicine...
So now I´m supposed to BD today and tomorrow, its going to be hard, DH does not like it when its per medical order... Not sure what to do to help... I can put sexy lingerie but it seems so obvious....

Anyone knows about this medicine? I know its used in fertility treatments with ovulation induction but has mine was normal, I´m not sure which are the benefits...

Keziahhopes · 12/07/2010 12:40

Hope all going ok for everyone.
Guess am so frustrated right now - had all tests, now just waiting for treatment plan and funding from NHS and see consultant ...

one positive is I have kept my BMI below the magic 30 needed for NHS treatment for 3months now, just need to keep on lowering it.

StormTTCbabyNo1 · 11/07/2010 08:13

Giraffemummy Good Luck, hope the next time we see you here its to tell us all about a lovely BFP....

Lychees Chin up honeypie....I'm sorry you had such a tough day. Its such a rollercoaster this TTC lark, I'm sure your PMA will soon return XXX

chocciechip thanks for the advice on chrting I'll certainly have a look into it - do you think its helped even though your using the CBFM??

Hi EVERYONE ELSE
Hope you're all ok - its very very hot where I live at the mo so I spent all day yesterday in the sunshine, it was bliss....hoping to do the same again today and just totally relax. I'm looking forward to this week - only 4 days at work and then Friday off to indulge in that well earned Spa Day DH purchased for me. WooHoo!!

Enjoy your Sunday girls.

storm I chart - and think its an excellent thing to do Happy to give you some tips but to get you going, have a look at Fertility Friend, they have good charting tutorials, and if you want to buy the definitive all-knowing book on it, order yourself a copy of 'Taking Charge of Your Fertility'. There's a great support thread on charting over here. You need to buy yourself a BBT thermometer - very important its one of those because .1 of a degree makes a difference.
