Keziah, thats awful Can you complain to anyone and explain what you did on here about the inconsistencies with regards to the other lady? 6 years means something more tangible should be done and action is needed - i hope you get it soon.

Still no AF here - i oved (according to opk) 13/14 days ago and FR hpt this morning was still a bfn so im giving up for this cycle - there would be some sort of line by now as hcg would have been increased enough to show on a sensitive test like FR. Never mind - all set and poised to use my CBFM and temping (athough i still dont know much about it - seems a bit complicated).

Right well not much in the way of exciting things that i can post on here till AF comes - i remember about 4.5 years ago when i was a stressed out single mum and i was just coming up to exams in my second year at uni, i missed a period for about 3 months or more but that was the only time i have been like that, its weird how long this cycle is turning out to be - AF is threatening as im getting the odd cramps but still nothing - i should just chill out i suppose and stop worrying (seems to be the golden rule for TTC) but thats easier said than done.

Missyraines · 30/07/2010 08:53

That's rubbish Keziah I thought you'd have been given priority. I'm with starlet get a second opinion or at least demand to know why they have come up with that decision. Maybe they have a budget each month or quarter and have gone over theres this quoter so you've been pushed down the list. That sucks.

Toy story 3 in 3D was amazing but it's not essential you see it in 3D. It's a great story and made me cry a little. Even DH was close to shedding a tear. Said he was imagining our kids playing with their toys. How sweet!

We're going away this weekend to spend some time by the sea.

Starlet22 · 29/07/2010 14:18

Hi Keziah, sorry you are feeling so low. Did the consultant why you needed to wait 6 months and why someone else you know, who as far as you can tell is in a similar position, gets different treatment? If he didn't explain, can you call up and ask or as Boba says, can you see someone else for a second opinion? Good news that your HSG and scan results were okay though. Also, presumably if you go private for treatment (e.g. IVF) you don't forfeit your chance to go on the NHS? Might be worth looking into for your PCT. Hope you manage to de-stress a bit on holiday and have a good time with DH. X

boba82 · 29/07/2010 13:51

Keziah that's shocking treatment hun. You've been TTC for 6 years so why do they think 6 more months is going to change anything? I would ask for a second opinion at hospital. Everyone is entitled to that surely? I hope you still manage to have a good holiday and try to relax, I know that it'll be hard though. Thinking of you . . x

OP posts:
Lychees · 29/07/2010 13:30

Keziah, I'm so sorry that you are in for a further long wait. It's the last thing you need after all your recent health worries, too. Just go and have your holiday [try not to worry about it on your week away; I know its harder said than done] and look at your options when you're back home.

I don't want to knock the NHS as they do a stellar job given the poor funding and number of people they have to treat but they seem to be so inconsistent when it comes to applying policies. Why does this other lady get treatment and you don't? Grrr ... makes me mad.

Boba, we must have posted at the same time last night. It does sound like you had a positive appointment and its good that the ball is rolling. You thought you were in for a longer wait for your first referral but then you got that cancellation so you may not have to wait until Jan after all. Let's hope lightening does strike twice.

No news from me. Still waiting for my peaks then back off to see my GP if I don't get my BFP this month.

This weekend, we are doing more DIY and shopping for a microwave [what fun !].

Jenni4 · 29/07/2010 12:52

Hi Keziah... I know I'm new here and don't know most of you yet, but I just wanted to let you know that your post is not selfish, what you're going through really stinks! just wanted to let you know that I'm sending you my good thoughts and energy...

Keziahhopes · 29/07/2010 12:43

Hi - well am very very low.

Saw the actual consultant for whole appointment, our 3rd appointment. HSG and scan all ok.Have a cyst and fibroid but he said small and no problem. BUT - he said "keep trying and come back in 6 MONTHS!!" - this is despite my husband having poor morphology with his sperm, me not ovulating!! And a year since we were referred to him by next Jan (date we got) and arrghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know someone whose progesterone is slightly higher than mine, whose dh has great SA results and she under same consultant, referred after us, has got clomid and then will have IUI and then presumably onto IVF, under same dr, same hospital. And I am 35 in August. Why don't I deserve equal treatment!!

So we will enjoy our self-catering hol in South West for one week, then look at finances, work out a budget and see what we can afford privately as I can't wait until I am nearly 36 before have treatment and I have been married 11 years and ttc#1 for 6 years now. Problem is we can't afford many attempts, one realistically, have the usual huge mortgage and old cars needed to get us to work. And no fairy godmothers!! Hearing people who get bfp on 5th attempt of IVF is a scary thought - when do you give up? Is it right to go private now and miss any nhs funding - only one attempt nhs funded here - or shall we keep waiting and pray for a miracle.

Sorry - selfish post. Am so fed up of beign physically ill (septecemia, pleurisy, pneumonia, infections galore - alll in last year, and no knowledge of if I can keep healthy) that this is such a hard time.

boba82 · 29/07/2010 11:59

Thanks keziah that's re-assuring to hear your opinion as you're bit further down the clinic road than me. Have a great holiday - you off somewhere nice?

starlet not sad at all DH & I want to see it too so let us know missy!

Feeling a bit better today just want AF to bloody arrive!

Havin a long weekend so looking forward to relaxing, had a v. stressful week at work which probably contributed to the upset yesterday.

anyone up to anything nice?

Starlet22 · 29/07/2010 09:09

Missey - do tell us how Toy Story 3 is in 3D. DH and I are thinking of going (minus any kids) - how sad......!

Starlet22 · 29/07/2010 09:08

Morning all,

Where to start?! Firstly, Harry so sorry to hear about the problems you've been having. As Keziah says, hopefully this means that it doesn't affect the fertility with your other side. Let us know how you get on.

Keziah, Boba, Lychees - thanks both for all the information. We need to pick up a form from our GP's tonight and then apparently we go online to make our own appointment (bit weird, but at least we'll know how long a wait we're looking at). Depending on how far away that is, we'll go back to the GP and get DH to do another SA and I'll ask to see about other tests for me(although, Boba, the news re normal SA results is very interesting - I told my DH it only takes one so I think he's not too concerned).

Boba - it sounds like your appointment went well. Can understand your frustrataion re the time until your next appointment but on the positive side of things you are now "in the system" and as you say, they will be monitoring hormonal changes and you are booked in for HSG and ultrasound. I have read (in that book I was mentioning!) that doctors are usually (or should be) reluctant in prescribing clomid until they are absolutely sure it is necessary (although this seems to vary from one practice to another). I think this is because it can sometimes be counterproductive depending on what other factors are contributing to difficulties conceiving. So at least your doctor, while delaying the clomid prescription for a while, has your best interests at heart.

Keziah - good luck today and have a fab holiday!!

Choccie - re CBFM - my monitor asks me to POAS from day 6. Last month I had a high on day 7 which was early, even for me (I usually peak on day 11/12). Perhaps your cycle is going to be a bit shorter this month or else you will get a number of highs before your peak.

Storm - will email this weekend (hopefully have done enough preventative measures to combat the problems with my hotmail account!!).

Lychees and everyone - good luck this month TTC!

Missyraines · 29/07/2010 08:31

Really sorry [Keziah} - I didn't see they were updated today already.

Must of been that extra glass of wine I knew I shouldn't of had last night! D'oh.

Boba - try not to worry, your post tells me you got an excellent first appointment. Yes you have 5mths till you go again, but when you go back you will be at the same stage I am tomorrow and it has taken me EIGHT months to get to that stage. They quite rightly don't give clomid out without a diagnosis, I now realise, as it could be dangerous if anyting wrong. Try not to be annoyed - I have never been offered 10 weeks of urine sample testing, had a physical exam by a doctor and it sounds like you got all tests ordered, and they do take time to have, sadly. BUT sounds like you can get treated when go again. It took me 3 appointmetns of 10-20mins each time to get as far as you did in 1 appointment - so hope you can feel a bit encouraged (well, worse case was got no bloods done then and no exam, not got all tests ordered etc, which is what I and others I know have gone through!) Hope tests go ok.

Right, must pack for holiday - typical go to see another random junior dr doing placement in fertiltiy clinic at hospital the day I am on holiday

StormBird · 28/07/2010 21:28

Hi everyone,

JeeeeeeWhizz.....so much has been going on!!

Hello to any new people

Keziah Good Luck with your appointment.

Harry Sorry to hear your having further problems. I hope you get well soon hunny.

Starlet Don't worry about not emailing. Whenever you can would be great hun. There's no rush. Oooh and let me know what that book is like. FX everything is ok.

Boba Good news about DH's SA. Now you and the docs can concentrate on YOU. I know 5 months seems a long time but I'm sure that January will be here before you know it. Chin up poppet. xx

Rosieposie I hope this is your month hun....C'mon the BFP!!

To everyone else Hope your all doing ok.

5DPO for me.......nothing to report really. Just the usual, tired, moody, gassy (TMI sorry), can't stop weeing etc. But I have developed a very random incredibly dry thoat and tongue??? V. Strange. Doubt its a symptom though!

I've been charting and Temps are looking good so far.

I hope someone gets BFP soon

Babydust to all

Good luck for tomorrow, Keziah.

Harry, sorry that you're having further problems. FX that everything is okay.

Hope you get your peaks at just the right time, Jenni4.

Starlet, your hubby's results may just be a one-off so itprobably is a good idea to have a second SA done as suggested by Keziah.

I ordered some Preseed last night. I thought it was worth giving it a shot this last chance before referral. This cycle, I'm hoping to get some warning before my peak. I have gone straight from lows to peaks recently. However, we were planning on doing it "the old-fashioned" way this cycle in conjunction with the CBFM so hopefully the lack of highs before the peak won't be an issue.

Firstly sorry to hear your news Harry, you're not being selfish at all hun, you've really been through the wars haven't you? Hope you're back to full health very soon.

Thanks to everyone for all the good luck wishes.

Had quite lengthy appointment with Mr Irvine at ERI fertility clinic today. Good news is DH has been given the all clear. Starlet this may be of interest to you but DH had 2 SA and both showed low morphology (7%). However was told today that they no longer consider this a problem as 15% is as good as you can get and they have loads of new research. The original comparison data is based on WHO data and they know know SA varies region to region so a 'normal' SA in Edinburgh will vary from that of Copenhagen for example. Thought it was v. interesting so do not worry too much over your SA results.

He agreed I am obv not ovulating. Had internal exam & bloods done. They will track hormonal changes via urine samples over 10 weeks and have booked me for an HSG and an ultrasound. Due to my holiday in 8 weeks time I am not going back for 5 months which is bang in middle of xmas so my next appt is 7th Jan which feels an age away

Unfortunately he will not prescribe me anything to start my period or Clomid etc until he's got a diagnosis so I have been wee bit upset/frustrated this pm as a result. Feel v. fed up at moment - men just do not understand how crappy you feel when you've not had a period for nearly 3 months!

All in all I found it a good experience and hopefully once diagnosed it will not take long to get things on track. Just seems so far away . . .

Sorry for the mammoth post

choccie that has happened to me but don't think I am a very good example at the moment!

Oh Harry, so sorry to hear that problem - does it mean the side with the fallopian tube's ovary is ok? Are you able to ttc, or on hold until results are in?

I am on holiday for next two weeks so will not be online much, if at all, but am expeting AF (and know no bfp as was in hospital and no bd/swi!) in coming days. Hope to see lots of positive new when I return

Harry2007 · 28/07/2010 18:41

Hi ladies,

I feel soooooo guilty for announcing my return to the thread and then not posting for ages! BUT have had a few problems, well actually, big problems. I've been back in hospital with severe pain on my left side ( the side that has no Fallopian tube) so ended up back in hospital. I've had more internals and internal scans than most women have in a lifetime and now the doctor thinks there may be a problem with the ovary on the left side (the ovary was left in during the op). So now awaiting the results...

Hi to all the newbies [Harry waves hi]

Xxx

p.s. Apologies for the selfishness of this post!

Keziahhopes · 28/07/2010 18:24

Starlet - whilst you wait to go to the hospital, why not ask for a 2nd SA to be done in say 4-8wks time, your gp can order it and you can have it done and results done before you go to the hospital. This is what they will do and it will save some time! My dh has poor motility and morphology - he has had 3 tests done over 9mths, with some different results!!

Thanks for wishes for tomorrow - am feeling more positive than I have done for ages. TTC has got me so low, especially knowing there are probs with us both!

chocciechip · 28/07/2010 17:02

I wasn't sure when CD1 was for me with this cycle, because I had spotting, then light flow in the afternoon the next day, and only on the next day did AF quick in properly. I decide CD1 was light flow day - which makes today CD8 and the first day the CBFM asks me to POAS.

I went straight to a high - no lows. Anyone else had this this early?

boba Hope it all went well today. keziah thinking of you for tomorrow hun!

pinkcustard I also have a copy of TCOYF and recommend it highly.

Hi everyone especially all the new people

Starlet I've heard lots of good things about that book and have been wondering whether to get a copy, you'll have to let us know if it's worth a read once you've finished it.

Well I've been having real trouble sleeping this week - I'll be really tired so go to bed early but then be lying awake for ages, and then I've been waking up around 2am-3am and then not being able to get back to sleep for AGES. Very annoying. I know it's silly but I found myself googling it as an early preg symptom and it did come up, but I think I can make anything into an early preg symptom if I try hard enough

Rosieposey fingers crossed that AF doesn't show up and you get a BFP in a few days, maybe you just tested a bit too early?
