ANY ADVICE ON CLOMID????

How are you getting on Katierocket? I'm feeling ok, a bit snappy and incredibly clumsy (don't know if I can blame clomid for that, but just keep dropping things). Looking forward to a weekend of BD if results of Friday's scan are good!

yesterday sounds horrid, poor you. Let me know how you get on at the scan.

I am very bloated and have bad wind but apart from that not too bad. DP keeps looking at me oddly, like he's waiting for my head to spin round!

Yesterday was horrible - felt really grumpy/emotional all day. Was meant to see a friend for coffee and she cancelled and I nearly cried (whilst swearing about her!) Fortunately am feeling a lot better today and I've had my last dose of C. Tummy feels a bit sore though. Got scan next Friday which I am really excited about - not sure why, but I suppose at least I'll know if it's doing the trick, then we'll have a busy weekend of BD!

Glad to hear you're not suffering too much. It's such a relief that we don't appear to have gone mad/hairy/fat/hot/sleepless etc.

katie - I'm now actively looking for a new GP - but at the moment can't seem to find out any detail about who has what particular interests. I've started a new thread here to see if anyone else has any ideas.

I wasn't monitored either, just a 21 day blood test each month to see if it was working.........

thanks twig, good to hear. The consultant (who is spoken quite highly of I believe) didn't even mention it as an issue but then when I looked at some of the threads on here I was a bit worred.

Note: no sign of 2 stone weight gain and full beard yet but will reserve judgement until the morning.

oh that's quite low .. I wouldn't worry too much about monitoring (at least that's what I was told by King's .. I was on 50mg)

katierocket .. I wasn't monitored .. what dosage did they put you on?

This was before we even mentioned ivf; just part of our ongoing fertility treatment and investigations. It was a vag scan. I had extensive intimate knowledge of my consultant's scanning wand by the end of the year!

I took Clomid for a year before I conceived.Only side-effects I can remember are the hot-flushes. Apart from that, all was fine. I suppose it just depends on the woman's body. By the way, it certainly did something for mine....I conceived three months after my first child and three months after my second!!!! I certainly got my money's worth of Clomid!!! (had to pay as we lived in Ireland at the time.)

one last question! is the scan a normal one or a transvaginal one?

LUnar - I feel for you. I think changing your GP is definitely the way forward.

cripes, I'm a bit scared now as consultant has just said to go away and take it. I did phone to check, spoke to nurse there and she said they only normally monitor if it's part of IVF, or other treatment. Not sure whether or not to phone them back again and ask about a scan, think i will.

katierocket - you really should be tracked, even if only for the 1st month. This is to make sure you don't produce too many eggs which is rare but can happen. I had visions of pruducing frog spawn and appearing in the news of the world with 10 babies at once! But seriously, I wouldn't have known it was causing me to have blood-filled cysts if I hadn't been tracked each month. IIRC, you should be having a scan at around day 13ish of your cycle, just before they 'pop'. hope clomid does the trick for you x

katie - still heading down a dead end at the moment. dh has emailed a friend whose wife is a GP in a town near us, to see if she might know of any other GP's in our area who are likely to be more sympathetic, so if anything comes of that I'll try changing GP.

Katierocket - I'm not stalking you btw! Just saw your comment re monitoring - I have a pelvic scan next week to see how many eggs are going to pop. If I have between 1 and 4 they'll give me an injection to release the eggs, then we have 24-36 hrs of bd to look forward to! If there are more than 4 they won't give me an injection and we're not even allowed to hold hands!

I am quite surprised at how scared I am about taking Clomid.

I've just been prescribed Clomid and I am quite nervous about taking it. (picture myself swallowing first tablet then waiting for head to start spinning round)

Question: Do you have to be monitored whilst on it? My consultant has just given me a prescription for it and said take it for 3 months and see but a lot of posts on MN suggest you have to monitored?

I used clomid after 2 yrs of trying for #2. I conceived on the second month but sadly miscarried. I started on clomid again and conceived again in the second month. This time my pg was a success and I have my lovely baby dd. I think it can work brilliantly. For me the side effects were weight gain (immediate and most unwelcome) and some horrid mood swings around ov time. It was well worth the trouble though! Good luck.

bloody hell lunarsea, that's outrageous.
we've been TTC no 2 for 14 months and GP was happy to refer us to NHS for the the initial tests. We actually decided to go private since if we need treatment we won't be able to get it on the NHS and the waiting lists even for initial tests is really long. Seeing the consultant on wed for the 'verdict'.
