Come on in, you raddled old caaaaahs, whotchoo waitin' for?

I've gone for a groovy 60s psychedelic theme, so get your fat upper arms comfy in the hanging globe chairs and hide your mememe shame in the glow of the lava lamps!

Russell Howard is our new bartender, although I don't think he's happy at the flares 'n' kipper tie outfit I've forced him to wear. And of course, Mitchell is in the pit, nervously awaiting his first guest.

Let's make this one diffalicious!

laurielou · 29/04/2010 11:05

Well I can do terrified, youse lot & the boyf can do excitement - that's all bases covered, non?

Told the boyf I was terrified in equal measures of being diffed & not being diffed. But he'd lost interest by then & was snoring

POAS day is Sat. If I get that far it will be day 33 (not completely unheard of in the laurie-cycle, but still). I have not even tempted fate by writing day 31 in my diary, I won't until I clear the day. I also have not ventured to Boots to buy said stick as 1. I would not be able to resist if I had it with me 2. The scent of a POAS will entice the droid.

aries how long are your cycles usually? Either you're thinking of that book, or just menkal. I dreamt once that someone sitting next to me in geography class in school suddenly grew a tail. But we were studying A Midsummer Night's Dream. I never could look at her the same..........

Headbanger · 29/04/2010 10:35

Just lurking ... still head-spinning with this whole re-training thing (not helped by 2 saying I'd have a glittering career (and in only one case is that flattery possibly directly related to the size of my buzzwams). Dropped a hint to my Chairman however, who either thinks I couldn't possibly do it and therefore chose to ignore it, or didn't pick it up. I HATE THIS...Loz am proper excited, sausage, when is the POAS moment?

Score I want your needles lady STAT! She sounds angelic!

Aries am very pleased and relieved about the wee lad. What a terror that must have been. I shall 'SEE' you later

Ariesgirl · 29/04/2010 10:18

EEEEEEK! How exciting/terrifying (delete as appropriate) Lozza! Crossed everything.

In continuation of the humorous Geordie theme:
"Day 25 in the Aries household. Aries has a slight stabbing sensation in left boob after having had some utterly fucked up dreams in the early hours about giving birth to a cat "

Has anyone read the Louis de Bernieres book in which the president's wife gives birth to a black jaguar? Maybe that was one my mind. Though I haven't read it for years.

Scorpette · 29/04/2010 10:09

LAURIE! Is looking v good, am excited Am I allowed to yell POAS at you yet? And fanks for the nipple tweaks. Mmmmm....

Will be making offerings and prayers to GoddessLyra for a droid-free D31!

Also big smooches to the lurkers

OP posts:
SomethingSuitablyWitty · 29/04/2010 10:08

Laurie! I'm still lurking and waiting for possible results - i'm with Boyf on this one! Exciting is what it is. I'm in total awe of your self-control in not POASing and will not weaken that resolve by urging you to. But waiting for news! Everything crossed for ya missy!

Waves to all other Beshes!

laurielou · 29/04/2010 10:04

Day 31 in the laurie-gusset & no droid...........

Conversation with the boyf last night:
Boyf: What day are you on?
Laurie: 30
Boyf: exciting, isn't it?
Laurie: and terrifying
Boyf: Yeah, but exciting
Laurie: and terrifying
Boyf: but mostly exciting

You get the drift.........

The droid has however arrived at the end of day 31 in recent months, so still too early to POAS.

scorps your needles lady sounds a dream! So sorry for your tales of woe, you really have been through it, haven't you? Come ere & have a nipple tweak.

aries good news re BF's little boy. Not that he has gladula fever of course - you knows what I mean.

grumpy I heart you. We love fresh meat in the Palais........

gin, lyra - you lurking lovlies. Hope you're both OK. Muchos missos you both

Scorpette · 29/04/2010 09:48

PS Is also 6 months till my birthdaytwin's b-day (Lyra). I wouldn't forget that

OP posts:
Scorpette · 29/04/2010 09:45

Hellooooooo? Echoooooooooo!

My LP is mocking me now by having a secondary rise after DPO5, which would normally be a sign of updiff. On the other hand, it bodes well for my LPD sorting itself out.

6 months today I will be 38. Waaaaaah!

Scorpette · 28/04/2010 23:25

Good news indeed, RussellGrant! I mean, glandular fever is no walk in the park but thank Charlie Mouse it's not the big C.

Talking of positive health developments, what news of PapaLyra? I do hope he's getting loads better

OP posts:
Ariesgirl · 28/04/2010 23:11

Phew. PHEW! Some very relieving news this eve. My BF's little boy has glandular fever not leukemia. Thank God (coming from an utterly undevout agnostic wishy washy).

CUNextTuesday · 28/04/2010 22:07

I'm reading a book wot my muvver bought me for my birfday about Britain in the 70's and it is truly fascinating. Cheerfully admit I knew very little about the running of the country prior to Thatcher, except anecdotally ref 3 day week, lights out, piles of unburied. V interesting to know what the in depth political situation was at the time

Scorpette · 28/04/2010 21:35

Cunty, we are truly great minds thinkin' alike today, cos my usual catchphrase for stereotypical hippy types is 'mungbean espadrilles'. My Bossfriend calls them 'Yoghurt Knitters', which is genius. I am an old-skool loony lefty in every sense except for my wardrobe. Looking good isn't a betrayal of the proletariat, sistahs! WORK IT!

I didn't know there was a politics bit eever. I try looking for interesting sections, can't seem to find any and just reside here and enjoy obsessive lurking in AIBU and relationships, where the white meat is (I mean that metaphorically, not racially, for anyone slow on the uptake ). I used to lurk on Baby Names but that way madness lies.

*Am not actually joking here. Know the words to the former, heart the latter.

OP posts:
Ariesgirl · 28/04/2010 21:28

Well I like to explore you know? Keep myself informed . I even posted about knickers on the Good Housekeeping thread the other day, just to see what would happen. And Education is quite interesting, for a former teacher like me. I'd say on the whole MN readers are fairly left leaning.

Casserole · 28/04/2010 21:18

I didn't even know there WERE politics threads Gemini

CUNextTuesday · 28/04/2010 21:11
Ariesgirl · 28/04/2010 21:09

I've just been on the Politics threads. Did you know that party activists are actually infiltrating MN and scaremongering? I can't believe it! I know this is the MN election and everything but how stupid do they think we are?

Sorry, back to being a bitter hag rather than a naive innocent who's scandalised at Party skullduggery politics.

Casserole · 28/04/2010 21:05

This - starts knitting espadrilles out of recycled Guardians - made me laugh. A LOT.

Scorpette · 28/04/2010 20:46

I shall continue to vote for Cleggy and his big third leggy as no party is left-wing enough for me

Am genuinely scared of how shit things would be under the Cuntservatives . With all the pro-Lib Dem feeling about at the mo, if the blues get in, this will be remembered as a time when we could've made a real change but fucked it.

Thus ends my political broadcast. Vote for MEEEE!

OP posts:
Casserole · 28/04/2010 20:43

It's ok. My laziness beat my menkulness.

We live to piss another day.

Headbanger · 28/04/2010 20:26

STEP AWAY FROM THE PISS-STICKS!

No good ever comes of it.

I have finished my report and am going to celebrate in the time-honoured fashion (going to bed early with a Horlicks. ROCK AND ROLL!).

PS I will now be voting Labour.

Muser · 28/04/2010 20:11

Resist! I oppose early testing. It is only ever a mindfuck.

Casserole · 28/04/2010 20:07

Gah, the menkul found me. Am currently fighting massive urge to go to all night Tesco and pick up some early tests....

CUNextTuesday · 28/04/2010 19:57

More or less constantly. I am having 'difficult episodes' where everything hurts, but am just being a whinging old caaaaaah. Been watching DIY SOS (oh I know - it's a subject close to my heart though what with our house being in ruins) and they are doing for a family with a small kid with a brain tumour. Now that is thought-provoking .There's so much that can go wrong, I can't believe we all actually want to do this

Scorpette · 28/04/2010 19:29

Cunty - see my FB status on the matter re: restrained comments!

Fanks, you sexy bitch, for the encouragement. There's a very good American blog n book called 'Gluten-Free Girl' about living with coeliac disease which is v similar to what you're suggesting. Have long thought about maybe doing a cookbook for people with allergies, but a) there are already loads on the market and b) I am a lazy dreamer. I have been thinking of doing it more seriously recently, as lots of people have been suggesting this - I would add lots of info about lifestyle and clever tips about shopping and suchlike that other books of that ilk don't really go into.

And on the allergy front, St Ruth of The Needles gave me hope - said that adrenal fatigue causes allergies and intolerances (which not bastard Doc has ever told me) and if you get that sorted then lots of them just disappear! If I could win a baybee and the ability to eat more stuff then I'd be in hog heaven (with the emphasis on hog...)

Anyway, how are you? The baybee still practising Thai boxing on your liver?

OP posts:
CUNextTuesday · 28/04/2010 19:12

Personally I think that what GB said was quite restrained. Had that been me, she would have been a bigoted old bitch with a bad set, and that would have been much more difficult to extract myself from

Glad you are on a positive tip scrope. Despaired on your behalf earlier, until I thought perhaps you could write a memoir about living with allergies of hideosity for the good of other people in your position. I was going to suggest it earlier, but I couldn't be faffed logging on at work...
