TTC after a Miscarriage - Keep Trying!!!!

Diddle · 27/07/2005 15:15

Well ladies, its about time we had a new thread, the old one is getting very long. Plus I think we need another fresh start, with lots of positive babydust:

.,'-.,'-.,'-',. .,'-.,'-.,'-',..,'-.,'-.,'-',. .,'-.,'-.,'-',..,'-.,'-.,'-',. .,'-.,'-.,'-',..,'-.,'- .,'-.,'-.,'-',. .,'-.,'-.,'-',..,'-.,'-.,'-',..,'-.,'-.,' .,'-.,'-.,'-',..,'-.,'-.,' .,'-.,'-.,'-',.

Get a big handful girls, i think we all need it.
I was trying to think of something great and positive to put, but this TTC lark is getting us all down, i'm fed up of trying, but we will all succeed eventually, our times will come.

It will be much better for our little ones to have a good start when our bodies are truly ready to carry them.

Lunasea, I really feel for you. I know how hard it is to stand up to a gp and demand a proper service. It sounds to me that you have a very strong case for referal and if your gp won't do it you should look into complaining to your local health authority. It's all hassle you could do without though and it's all easier said than done. Maybe a chat with your prevoius mid wife or maternity unit might do the trick? Good luck, in the mean time just keep on bding

I'm with you on not testing till af is due/late this month Diddle, it's too stressful starting to early. I will be strong. But it's a long wait....but all good things are

LunarSea · 12/08/2005 10:52

strike1 - that's supposed to be the case. I've gone through the NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) guidelines to doctors - all 100+ pages of it - and it's a little vague, in that it says refer after failure to conceive, but doesn't really make it clear if that's ever, or this time round. GP seems to be interpreting it as ever, I interpret it the other way.

I'm finding it quite hard to keep reading on here about people who are younger than I am, and haven't been trying anywhere near as long, who seem to be getting referals quite easily. It just shows that there must be loads of doctors out there who don't share our GP's interpretation, yet we're still getting nowhere.

Diddle · 12/08/2005 10:31

morning all, petunia, will have to try and catch Lost really wanted to see it. wish i had skyplus, then it would just find them all for me and record them in case i forget them. might be worth investing in just for that.

Glad i'm not the only one with a long cycle. It does feel like a long wait, esp after OV and then waiting almost 20 days to test, its hell. Think thats why i go through so many tests. I start early because I love testing, but hate the results part. Have made a promise with myself that i'm only using the tests in my bathroom, which i think is 3 or 4 left and not buying anymore. so i must wait until af is late, if she is late. Won't be too dissapointed this month with my negative though, because of going to Disneyland, quite fancy being able to go on the rides. Never satisfied am I.

have a good day everyone

maddyd - not eating at all is not good you must try something, you'll waste away.

Morning all,
Lunarsea- I was thinking the same thing as Strike1, is there no other Dr at the practice? Honestly, these Drs make me so cross when they say these things. You think there is a problem, he should be sending you somewhere to investigate it.

HC- hope you had a nice evening.

As for me, I'm feeling out of sorts today. My boobs really ache, especially the left one! Maybe I've overdone something!
And completely off topic, both episodes of Lost are repeated tomorrow night on Channel 4, although DH was saying it's the uncut version, so hope you all like your blood and gore!

strike1 · 12/08/2005 09:09

HC how was your anniversary evening?

strike1 · 12/08/2005 09:08

Morning all. Just thought I'd drop back in. Been enjoying not ttc over my af time (and indulging in a few glasses of vino) But it's time to get back in the saddle so to speak! Diddle my last cycle was 35 days too, and the last proper cycle I counted was 32, so mine's on the long side as well. It's annoying cause I've got ages to wait till ov time (two weeks!) then even longer till test time. Still enjoying the bding.

Lunasea, your doctor sounds horrid and out of order. I thought you could get a referal if you'd been trying for over a year regardless of other children/pg's, is that not the case? Are there any other doctors within the practice that might be more helpful?

LunarSea · 11/08/2005 23:58

maddyd - yes ds is fine - he's nearly 4 now. But GP doesn't think that there's any problem, so I can't even get a referal to see anyone else, let alone any medication to help with the situation I've posted elsewhere about the trouble I have trying to get him to accept that one child in nine years is NOT a good average, and that as I'm 39 now, I don't really have another 9 years to put up with him telling me that if it can happen once it can happen again (you could probably find it if you searched).

I'm afraid that after all this time I just expect a -ve outcome all the time now. I think I've all but run out of hope.

CHOCOLATEPEANUT · 11/08/2005 21:55

Maddyd Glad your feeling better xx
Diddle My cycle was 33 days lasdt month and 31 month before (was always 28 before loss in april)
HC Happy Anniversary!!

I watched lost.Cant decide if i like it or not,Is it a bit like Jurrasic Park? What was that thing that grabbed pilot? Anyhow it looks like set of Jurrasic and dont think its a conventional 'stranded on a dessert island story'will have to see a few more before i decide.

Fed up of big brother, dont really like anyone but if had to decide would be kinga or eugene to win. I feel sorry for them both in different ways. Wanted Makosi out last night (big headed b*tch)aggghhhhh makes blood boilso two faced and nasty
This weekend is dh last chance to drink as hip,hip hooray its ov testing time once again coming up and lots of bding though not really in mood for it,much rather have lots and lots chocolate maybe i could smother dh in melted galaxy??

mmmmmmm,maybe not.Hes quite hairy

Blimey its 10.00 betta tune in to see whats happening

bye girlies

maddyd · 11/08/2005 20:43

Right i will bid you all goodnight and sweetdreams. Im having an early night as Dp playing tennis and i dont want to be awake when he gets home or i may be tempted to BD, and i really dont want to fall this month or ill blame myself taking pain killers if anything went wrong. God only day 12, ages till af, ages till bding, ages till pg. Theres just so much waiting in this ttcing game xxxxx

maddyd · 11/08/2005 20:12

Lunar i meant wasnt clear iyswim

maddyd · 11/08/2005 20:10

Poor you Lunar nine years of ttcing. How on earh do you get through each month. Are you on medication or ivf too. Sorry i cant remenber did you have Ds sucessfully? It was clear, and i dont want to upset if you didnt carry full term? XXXXXXX

Diddle im not doing too bad ta. Scan date still not through but its fine aslong as i avoid food Lost was good but i cant really stay awake that late. Im a lightwieght. Big Brother was better.
Good on Eugine for taking the money and they are hypacrites for saying they wouldnt. Come on, your handed 50,000 for nothing. Who would say no. I think Eugine would have said no if he knew the money would have doubled. Hey ho hope he wins now to pee them all off. [evil grin, eviller than the mn one]

nicmum2boys. I do the opk tsts too. They are a strong line just before ov and then it will tail off. If you have no lines you havnt ov;d yet or you have and youve miised it. Thats why they give you 5 i think to do over your predicted fertile time. I got a pink line on day 9 which means i would ov that or the next day. Today the line is alot fainter so im guessing i have ovulated. Very early though im only on day 12 now. Shows all that bding over day 13,14 and 15 counted for nothing. I did get an early af last month though.

Happy Annivesary HC hope you have a love;ly evening. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH how sweet.

LunarSea · 11/08/2005 17:36

HC - don't see much point in testing, when OPK's, saliva microscope thing, and charting all agree that I didn't OV. I'm just putting it down to being a crazy cycle all round which is best over and done with. All I can do is hope that it's a one off and things will get back to normal next time.

HumphreysCorner · 11/08/2005 17:28

Ooh LunarSea-why don't you test?

Diddle · 11/08/2005 17:28

hi ladies,

Happy Anniversary HC, have a nice relaxing evening

Sounds like we're all oving at the same time this week, although we all have different cycle lengths, anyone got a long cycle like me, 35 days???

Missed lost, but wish i hadn't really wanted to see it, what time was it on. Like the look of the lead blokey, can't remember his name, something fox, he was in "party of five" on a long time ago.

maddyd - how you feeling now?? i'm going to keep asking you.

LunarSea · 11/08/2005 16:27

Hi girls. Sorry not to get too involved in this every day, but after nearly 9 years of ttc (less about 18 months expecting/just after ds) it's sometimes hard to find anything new to say about it. Although perhaps I shouldn't be wishing for something new, as this month I am getting odd symptoms which haven't happened before.

I'm now on my 8th day of spotting/light bleeding, with intermittent gaps where it stops completely, but still nothing like the amount I'd usually get at the start of a proper AF. So I'm not sure now if this is CD25 of the last one, or CD8 of this one?

HumphreysCorner · 11/08/2005 15:52

petunia-I have bought off www.earlypregnancy.co.uk before with next day delivery but much prefer buying off E-Bay and cheaper too.

My mouth is very numb now after the filling. At the time it wasn't quite so numb and hurt when he drilled-I don't think he waited long enough [ouch].

nicmum2boys-I tested on the day my period was due last time only because the sticks happened to arrive on that day so I am beginning to wonder if you can get a result several days before. www.peeonastick.com has some wonderful examples of result lines.

DD having a sleep so off to watch NipTuck from last night.

((xx))

petunia · 11/08/2005 14:44

Afternoon all,
HC- hope your mouth isn't too numb after your visit to the dentist. I don't really know when to start testing. AF is due Wednesday and I don't really want to do one earlier because the pg tests from Sainsburys are really expensive. Did put pg tests into Google and it came up with some sites, but haven't really investigated pg tests bought over the internet. So if anyone can recommend an internet company and type of test, I might drag the old credit card out and buy some!

nicmum2boys · 11/08/2005 14:43

Hi everyone. Been feeling very delicate today, drank far too much wine last night in a desparate bid to keep relaxed about everything. Now feeling really guilty and stupid in case I have mucked up my chances for another month .
Don't know what to make of it all at the moment. I was pretty sure I was oving last few days, as have had pains in my lower abdomen like I normally get, but had a slight bleed last night, and then today I've had loads of ewcm. Finally caved in and did one of those opk tests today and it was neg. Now confused. Does this mean I haven't oved, or could it mean that I already have? Does anyone know how long after oving they stay positive for? Would be a whole lot easier (and cheaper) if we all turned blue when oving and green when pg. Guess I just want to be in control of something I can't be in control of!

Happy anniversary HC, what a day to have a filling on! I got some early tests from ebay, and it wasn't until I'd used all 5 of them that I read through the instructions to the end and realised it said they were suitable from first day of missed period, not 4 days before as advertised. Was a bit miffed at the time, but I suppose they were right as were all neg.

Maddyd glad you're feeling better today. I know what you mean about taking a break from trying. DS1 took us 2 years to conceive, it was very stressful, and some months we did just deliberately not bother. Sometimes you just need to step off the "am I, aren't I?" rollercoaster and catch your breath.

HumphreysCorner · 11/08/2005 13:37

petunia-my Clear Blue test & 3 ultra early tests arrived this morning-hmmmm, can I really wait until Monday to start testing????????? How about you? Watch this space.

Surely all those in Lost would be dead by the 3rd series especially having absolutely no food or water!

Got to get ready for my filling in an hour so byee for now

((xx))

maddyd · 11/08/2005 11:25

Good Luck on testing Petunia and Chocolatepeanut, fingers and everything else crossed for you. xxxx

petunia · 11/08/2005 10:24

Morning all,
HC- Happy Anniversary. You and I might be testing together next week then! I watched Lost too. DH said they're starting the 3rd series of it in the USA. It's OK but have they really managed to stretch being stranded on an island to a 3rd series?!

Maddyd- glad you're doing OK.

Been lurking the last few days. Just waiting for next Wednesday, when AF's due. Boobs not aching as much as on Monday but got DH to buy me some pg tests from Sainsburys last night just in case!
Have a good day everyone.

auntynon · 11/08/2005 09:19

11 days!

auntynon · 11/08/2005 09:18

happy anniversary HC. Still as impatient as ever, 11 since M/C. Stopped bleeding after 7 days, feel ok, just waiting for AF so I know where I am re TTC. Once I get to that point I'll be posting obsessively. Good luck to everyone doing tests in the next week.

HumphreysCorner · 11/08/2005 09:01

Morning ladies

It's our anniversary today-4 years! But, have got to have a horrible filling this afternnon then I'm off out with my friend who is home from Staffordshire so hope the numbness wears off before then.

Day 21 here now so AF due 1 week today-have convinced myself that milk tastes awful (usually the first thing I go off when PG). Have managed to win a Clear Blue PG test off E-Bay and have ordered 3 more ultra early pee sticks. I do find that when they arrive they are all the same reagardless of whether they are ultra early or just early and all say test 7-10 days after. The last lot I bought doesn't even say when to test so am a bit confused as to when to test.

I am pleased that Craig was booted out of Big Bro. Also, good on Eugene as I would have taken the money and I don't believe that Makosi wouldn't have taken it-liar!

Lost was quite good too but don't know if I can stick it until the end.

Promise you won't leave on my own on here or I will have nobody to talk to.

Have 2 of my friends coming here this morning with their 3 & nearly 4 year old DD's. One of them is the one who was due last Tuesday (9th) so hope we don't have a home delivery today.

Right, must go as have to tidy up. Hope everyone has a lovely day and I'll check up on you later.

((((((((((((((XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX)))))))))))))))

maddyd · 11/08/2005 08:08

Im not going anywhere. I spent the day in bed yesterday sleepping though nit bding. Think i took too may pain killers the night before and yesterday i couldnt function at all, just had to keep closing my eyes. Had nothing to eat all and pain is fine today, gonnatry some breakfast soon though.

Im oving but not bding so wont be my month but im glad about that as i want to be drug free for when i try which is def next month. The thing is knowing im not trying this month has really relieved the pressure and stress and worry.
Im alot less emotional. Next motn is the month for me. I need to catch up with pg ladies.
