Hi

I'm thinking about having another child - I have one 2.5 year old already and I'm now 41!

What was your age when you had your latest child?

Juggling the idea of going or not going for it!

Tothesea: congratulations on your dc. Any tips for those of us getting on a bit then? Especially ones with no kids yet?

I am 42 and currently 32 weeks pregnant with DS2.
It did take two years of TTC though and we had given up all hope when finally got BFP!

Had dd at 37 yrs and ds at 40 yrs and yep Tibbychop both naturally and they were speedy conceptions.

I would read up on Zita West though as there is no time to spare and make sure that the myth about doing it only every other day is abandoned, Zita explains this well - the more a man has sex the more sperm he produces.

My great aunt had her first at 48 naturally conceived - thought she was going through menopause, she had been trying for years but at the time there wasn't much help available.

I had twins at 37 and my last child when I was 40.7 months.

MountTheFairy, most of my friends of the same age as me are now grandparents! now that's scary!
Age doesn't matter, it's down to your own personal body clock and a bit of luck and judgement. Good luck anyway!

I am 32 (well, soon 33), trying for my first for 7 months now. I was not worried to start with but now that it is taking a while I am REALLY starting to worry. I suppose also because now I will be 33, which for some reason seems so much worse than 32... Went to the GP who said:"32! That's really young!" At least that is comforting. Thruth be told most of our friends had kids when they were between 32 - 40, but then they all conceived straight away! Much easier than me, so it seems like age actually does not matter...

I'm on a fab thread for women over 40 who are ttc. We're all at very different stages and doing different things but we all would very much like a child and are in our 40's. Come and join us if you decide to go ahead or if you are just curious.

I'm totally rubbish at technology (had to ask my 9 year old how to use an MP3 player the other day!), so wont be able to do a proper link but the name of the thread is:-

As for me, I'm 43 and TTC #3. I have a 9 year old a 7 year old and I had a MMC at 12 weeks in February.

I know the risks of MC are greater at my age and it does concern me - especially after my experience in Feb and I do think that you need to be aware of that and consider it. But at the end of the day, I've decided to go for it again.

TIBBYCHOP, I fell pg for the first time after 12 years which ended in a MMC(I was 31). I had been on the IVF list, but had conceived without it amazingly. It then took another two years before I fell pg again and had Ds at 34...another MC at 41 and Dd at almost 43. All naturally even though I was told at 31(before first conception)that I'd never conceive without assistance.

I had my first, naturally conceived, at the age of 43!

Had DD at 36, first attempt, no problems. Am 38.5 and next month we start ttc number 2. Fingers crossed for the same results but realistic enough to expect a longer wait.

I had DD at 38, shes PFB and don't want any more (at the moment).

Had 1 MC prior but put that down to Coeliac Disease and severe deficiency of all vitamins & minerals 1 body needs to survive, nevermind 2!

Easy conception and fabby pregnancy - never been healthier or felt better in my life!

am 42, trying for #2 at present, DS is 2.4 now. Been trying for over a year, MC just before Christmas, am a bit concernced but just keep trying. Only took 3months trying to get DS - I was 39 at the time. Bit harder this time around.

Had DS at 36 and DD at 39, with a miscarriage before both. I have PCOS but didn't have any interventions.

I was diagnosed at 18 and told I probably wouldn't have kids. Went through my whole adulthood assuming I wouldn't, when I met DH we thought we'd give it a try.

i had twins at 33 (took 6 months) and now i am on cycle 8 for dc3 at 38 (started at 37). Am getting really anxious about it now, as not a glimmer. i have had bloods and hubby has had sperm test and all came back ok, but each month af arrives

I had DD at 37 naturally but have struggled for siblings, had 3 m/c and am just about to embark on IVF (i'm 41 in May)
