So, I thought I'd take it upon myself to kickstart the new thread. As the title suggests, this is a wonderful home full of the bravest, funniest and most inspirational women on Mumsnet, who are always ready to lend an ear and a virtual glass of wine.

The new thread is kicked off with 3 bfps in 3 days, so here's to more love and luck along the way

xx

Congrats alba and sparkly! Am feeling v. heartened by all these bfps! Must be the weather :-)

Aly I was on metformin before and it worked pretty well. I started at 500mg and worked my way up to 1500mg and was on a low-GI diet and avoided sugar, which helped with the sickness. I was losing weight anyway but I think the met did kick-start my ovulation, and we conceived on the first cycle hard to say if the met (which I continued taking through the first trimester) helped avoid m/c, but I did have a successful pregnancy.

Linda we used pre-seed for that one and it worked well. There are a few more sperm-friendly lubricants out there now though so you can pick and choose a bit.

Thankyou moofold and clareanna re agnus castus... will look out for it.

digitalgirl · 26/04/2010 12:41

lindalinda ewcm (the egg White type mucus) can turn up a few days before ovulating or just before. Temping can help you look at your cycle overall and you can see looking back if you got the temp rise just after or a few days after you got a batch of mucus.

I'd say if you get some mucus, go for it every 24-36 hours for at least four-five days. Preferably you'd be having sex throughout your cycle just in case you ovulate earlier or later than normal.

Lindalinda you need any digital thermometer that has 2 decimal places. I got mine off Amazon. I use fertilityfriend.com for keeping track of my temping and other info, and the tutorials on there are quite helpful, explaining...ahem...mucus, and "stuff". I temp and use ov sticks, and if I get a positive on the ov stick, I basically have as much sex as possible over the next couple of days. Temping only really tells you you've ovulated after it has already happened, so it's useful for keeping an eye on you cycles but not for planning the attack on DH. Mucus, however, is definitely the way forward for planning when to SWI, as gross as it sounds. That rambled a bit - hope it was useful.

Morning all. In the office a bit earlier than usual due to a meeting with a guy here that I don't get on with. I need to put him back in his box after a recent run-in, so I'm not looking forward to it at all. Wish me luck girls! x

Big BFP woot woots to Alba and Sparkly! Well done to you and your DPs and sticky vibes coming your way.

clareanna · 25/04/2010 22:21

fab news sparkly ! Congratulations !!!!

digitalgirl · 25/04/2010 22:16

Huge congrats to Alba and sparkly!!! Lovely to see bfps on this thread. Hope you both have boring and reassuringly uneventful pregnancies.

Getting the odd twinge in my ovaries. But no ewcm yet. Would be very surprised if I ov'ed this early after only stopped bleeding last Thursday. Would be nice to have short cycle for a change.

Got my scan tomorrow. Not quite sure what they'll be looking for. But maybe they can tell me if I'm ovulating soon? Will be going to work either side of the appointment, coz that's how I roll.

BunnyBaby · 25/04/2010 21:45

alba and sparkly congrats!

I'm holding off testing, would normally be due at 28 days (Friday) but last 2 post MC cycles have been 31 days. This would put me as due RTD tomorrow. I don't like to test early so will give it a few days to the latter half of the week if nothing happens.

Have been clearing out sheds and garden. Have seen pretty house in tiny village (still near outer zone tube). Hubby grew up on farm and I was a towny, but have been craving peace and quiet for past few years. He's well pleased to have me round to his way of thinking. No rush and need to be moved by Jan 2012 for primary school for DS1. It is funny how you do nice things to your house when you're leaving that you can't be arsed to do for yourself! A but like cleaning for the burglars before you go on holiday.

Have a lovely week all xxx

My diet fell apart towads the end of the week, so joining ladies only gym tomorrow. Should be fun?!

Cheepz · 25/04/2010 20:48

big piles or arse - its barely there but still no flat out BFN for me... sigh, 25 days post erpc, no bleeding for a week, defo fainter than last time - hold up to the light line but i want a no holds barred, no line whatsoever negative to draw a line under it once and for all.

upside .....if it takes me longer to be ready ot ry again it might give me a little longer in a new job before i would be preggers again and that would be no bad thing.... always seeking the upside

congrats sparkly we crossed posts earlier, thats lovely news

linda i would say push for all test yo can have - there are blood tests and chromosome tests which they can do - also will look at your oh sperm 'quality' nhs don't do immune system tests or look for natural killer cells which are tests you would have privately if you wanted them, but the doctors are saying to me the best test is if you have had a child already - if so the chances are there is nothing wrong with you that they can treat to make things any diffrent, nhs will only do tests once you have had 3 mc in a row, but if you don't have time on your hands you can argue theres a need to accelerate the process - although they may push back in which case i would say go private if you can. bottom line is if you have 3 dc's already and this is your first mc the chances of it being just one of those things is high ....

curly cd17 sounds very odd, very early, might just be a wierd anomoly, would think its unlikely to be an infection or related to mc after a couple of normal cycles so not sure really, but if you are worried i would say get it checked out!

i am off for a bath and early night, cheerio

Curlylox · 25/04/2010 20:17

Congrats to Alba and Sparkly!

Apologies to all as I haven't been on as late, but do lurk on the odd occasion to see how you're all getting on. I am great (when I have the time) to read your posts and empathise, laugh etc but to respond am not good at typing the words, however if you were in front of me I'm great (mmm does that make any sense??).

Anyway wondering if anyone can shed any light on my little hiccup, my cl is quite regular 28 days (once I had a cl of 21 days in Dec 09 this was last AF before BFP). Since MC in Feb had AF about 28 days then another normal cycle but have had another AF after 17 days since my last one. The few days leading up to this I did feel tired, headache, waves of nausea, angry and weepy. It isnt light bleeding either, seems more like AF, is this all normal??

VivClicquot · 25/04/2010 19:37

Awwww how lovely to see two more BFPs - lots of love and congratulations to Alba and Sparkly

And cheepz - here's to all things negatory, my love

Have had a lovely weekend but am feeling nervous about the week ahead. DH and I fly to Baltimore on Thursday for a long weekend visiting one of my best friends - am uber excited, but I know that by the time I return on Tuesday, I'll either have AF (due a week tomorrow) or I'll be late.

In surreptitious symptom spotting news, my boobs have been killing me all day today which is very unusual for me. But then every month so far has thrown up a new non-symptom which seems unusual at the time, but which turns out to be my body playing silly buggers. Sigh.

Kisses to all xxx

sparklyrainbow · 25/04/2010 18:28

Hi everyone

I have been AWOL for a while (holiday, DP's brother's wedding to grit teeth through and first week back at work- aka school- madness) but see it's been very busy here! Seems there are loads of newbies sorry you're here> and a quite a few BFPs- congratulations GLbear, Malteser, Gi1da and of course Alba

I will add to the list as I also got a BFP this morning...I'm not letting myself get excited (and won't for a while so I will still mostly lurk on here) but quietly very pleased and of course pretty scared too. It will be a New Year baby if it's a sticky one, fingers crossed we get that far...

Alba Congratulations!!! As a newbie here, I LOVE seeing the BFPs!!

I'm just trying not get get my hopes up that it'll happen fast for me. I can remember how shattered I was each month pre-mc, I imagine it hits harder after. Even with the alleged "increased fertility" the odds are still crap each month. I'm much more afraid of my my feelings first BFN than I am of having sex again or first RTD.

LadyBee, I just got my -ve, too. It was a relief to see it. I don't know how your GP works, but I know in the US, most doctors refuse to give any results (good or bad) over the phone. It also makes sense that they would want to see you to make sure everything is good. If they did find something, it doesn't mean that it would be anything that would repeat itself. It would be nice if they could get you in fast though- it's shit that you have to wait for the appointment.

Littlemiss, sorry about the marathon. Hopefully you'll miss next year's with a big smile on your face and a tiny baby in your arms. I'm impressed that you run marathons. I convinced myself I was going to do a half and didn't even have the discipline to do that (I barely got up to a 10k). You're a star.

Also, just wondering how those taking Metformin like it. How do you feel on it? I'm considering asking my doctor if I can go on a low dose to get my bloodsugars lower pre-pregnancy. The ttc side-effects would be an added benefit . Does it change your ovulation in any way? I ovulate cd 20-23 and would love to have it move earlier. Could it make a difference?

Hope those with hangovers feel better soon! I had one yesterday after barely drinking. Getting old sucks!
