So, I thought I'd take it upon myself to kickstart the new thread. As the title suggests, this is a wonderful home full of the bravest, funniest and most inspirational women on Mumsnet, who are always ready to lend an ear and a virtual glass of wine.

The new thread is kicked off with 3 bfps in 3 days, so here's to more love and luck along the way

xx

ooh, WYG, crossed posts and have had look. That squirrel does look evil...

sparklyrainbow · 26/04/2010 22:01

Awww, thanks for all the messages It's nice to have a buddy Alba, and now Margie too, yay! Congrats and as you say, let's hope for a boring 9 months.

linda, I recommend the SWI lots and lots approach- it has worked for me , plus I was keeping an eye on CM (had started to record on fertility friend with a view to temping if we didn't get anywhere) and seemed to have timed the 'intense' week about right...

and Cheepz, I also think you're amazing.

WYG what's your exhibition? Apologies if I have missed it on a previous page of the thread. Don't envy battling tube trains daily, mind you corridors of teenagers are similar in some ways, probably just as smelly!

Take care everyone and hope to see some more BFPs soon x

WestYorkshireGirl · 26/04/2010 21:51

Love the ricocheting chinchillas. Wascally wabit scared of Lakeland SpotBot doing it's best to clean carpet ready for (victims) viewers tomorrow!

clareanna well done on the 4lbs, alas I have fallen by the wayside for the past 4 days but will try and be good tomorrow.

See y'all tomorrow xxx

PrettyVacant1 · 26/04/2010 21:16

Oooo, sounds in-ter-es-ting WYG.
Can we see? Say a link or something could appear?
I can't do it as I'm still on stoopid iPod as MrG has now given up on craptop.

I can't really tell be rude to her Moo as she's bi polar, she has no DC and lives in a world of her own wrapped in cotton wool.
I have no relationship with my own mother so she tries to "look after" me.
She's too young to do that and only just too old to be a sister figure.
FIL is amazing and has control over his gob and brain.

Loving FIM Bunny very apt.
Hope your Magic wascally wabbitt feels better soon.
I'd like a house wabbit but I'm lergic to them and James The Cat would be fwightened.
He was shit scared of the chinchilla but it did used to wind him up by waiting till he was close and ricocheting off the cage an inch from his face.

LadyBee · 26/04/2010 20:58

yay! more BFPs! congrats Margie

Just a quick one from me, back at work after the holiday today and a mountain of email to sift through still. I have so little motivation at work at the moment, but can't remember whether I was like this before pregnancy & mc or not.

Am being grumpy neighbour at the moment. Grumble grumble damn kids and their grumble grumble damn footballs. grumble.

time for tea. and a Glee. god I wish we had gin in the house.

BUnderTheBonnet · 26/04/2010 20:58

Congrats Margie!

Well it looks like I didn't ovulate when I thought I did a few days ago. Must have been some rogue wee . Looks like my wtf cycle looks set to be an exasperating one.

clareanna · 26/04/2010 20:53

evening all!
Big congrats to Margie! understand you must be feeling scared - I recommend cheepz's excellent advice to get as much antenatal support as your need to help you x

bunny fingers crossed for you

linda I went on mad clothes buying spree too - it may be shallow but there's nothing like a new handbag for a bit of false confidence when you're feeling fragile
Also recommend the Clear Blue Monitor, expensive, but tells you exactly what you need to know....

viv how did meeting go? hope you gave excellent constructive feedback and your colleague has scuttled away to hide in a box rather than you having to put him back in one?!

MrsP big cheers to MrG for looking out for you. you're so brave and positive that sometimes I think people just take it for granted. I have just returned from a punch class - I highly recommend it as a stress reliever!

WYG well done on your review - got mine tomorrow - argh!

As for me, ttc break is actually quite nice, feel I've got more head space for getting my life/work back on track. Have been exercising and watching what I eat (4lbs off in first week)woo hoo!
big waves to everyone else!

VivClicquot · 26/04/2010 20:53

The meeting went well actually - rather than try and rake over shitty ground and point out what a knobhead he is, I breezed in full of optimism about how we can make things better this time... if we do it MY way.

However, my day took a turn for the worse when I got home and discovered that our kitchen sink had sprung a massive leak and everywhere was flooded. Between you and I, I blame my dad as he came round last week to pressure wash our patio and had been fiddling with the tap... But I feel mean if I phone him up and accuse him of doing it!

Is there a snorkel smiley?

Anyway, big congrats margie - am loving the spring run of luck.

Cheepz - you're one hell of a woman, you know. You're a total inspiration x

PrettyMrsG - hope you're enjoying your week off. You deserve it.

digitalgirl - chin up missus. Like WYG says, at least you have more info now.

Off to watch Glee. Or Flash Forward. Or The Pacific. Decisions decisions.

sparkly & margie Huge congrats on your BFPs! It's great to see so many lately.
Cheepz sorry no news for you, but your positivism is still going strong I see.
pretty enjoy your week off.
Viv Hope your meeting went well with the box man.
digitalgirl Sorry you are feeling a bit flat after your scan, but at least you have some info now - I always feel better armed with info.

Hello everyone else.

I have nothing of any interest to report, really! Been to work, had some good results on my performance, spent all day typing up my Professional Development Review and came home. But was excited to open the Metro on the train and see the exhibition I have been working on for the last 2 years and which opens on Fri on p3! It cheered me up whilst being squashed like a sardine!

BunnyBaby · 26/04/2010 19:53

Margie well done you!

Pretty That is really crapsville, especially as I assume FIL partner (should we call her FIM as in foot-in-mouth) knew what a rough time you're having? You did well to contain yourself, I may have exploded.

DH is picking one of our wascally wabits up from vets. The side fell of the run that separates them and they had a dust up, requiring Magic to have surgery on her tail. Anyway, she's fine despite reacting badly to anaesthetic and stopping breathing. Will be very pleased to give her a gentle cuddle tonight.

Will definitely look into rocket science monitors next month if RTD does not show. Nothing yet, so will hold out a few more days before I test xxx

Moofold · 26/04/2010 19:46

Bloody hell, its all go with the BFPs. Great news Sparkly and Margie, well done girls!

Sorry to hear so many of you are having a shitty time, take care of yourselves.

MrsG I can't understand the logic sometimes - my mother being the worst cuplrit. I don't know if she thinks I am wallowing and should be over it - or if she thinks she is helping in some warped way. She hasn't taken the hint that I don't want to phone calls JUST to tell me who else has had a baby or is pregnant. I don't want to coo over pics of other peoples' babies. Good for Mr G stepping in and taking control of that situation

PrettyVacant1 · 26/04/2010 19:22

Bugger.
Craptop is officially fooked.
MrG has just strolled in with wine and yummy dinner and asked if he could use it.
It went poof and will not be unpoofed.
Oooops and I'm back to the iPod.
He's now swearing at it and trying to make it work again with a magic disk.

Hope everyone had a lovely day.

Did manage to catch margie's BFP before the poof.
Yeah!

Squeeezes to digi, linda and red
Big badge and tin foil crown for cheepz for being so clever and supportive and just plain lovely.

I had a wobble too last night.
We had dinner with FIL, his partner and family friends.
FIL's partner who is completely tactless isn't really diplomatic blurted out that friends had news!
My heart sank.
They are lovely people and their DD's are lovely too.
I was very happy for them as it was obvious that they were proud GP to be.
I smiled politely, said ahhh and oooo in the right places,
I was doing very well.
Fil's DP then suggested they show us the picture,
"ahh go on it's lovely" etc,etc

Nope.

Never gonna happen.

Mr.G quickly said no thanks and hurriedly stopped lovely pictures being produced.

I sat there still smiling politely until the conversation ended, excused myself, went home (we live next door) hyperventilated for a bit had a cigarette and went back in to finish dinner.

I was a leetle bit drunk so that probably didn't help.

I don't expect people to tippy toe around me but ffs,

littlemiss72 · 26/04/2010 18:53

Yay margie congrats woman! Lovely to see so many getting BFP

ViV I do hope you nailed that box down hunni, it's the only way.

linda please don't be so hard on yourself, we have all had similar experiences here so feel free to share your thoughts. Things do get better I promise you and listen to our dear wise one cheepz she's made of strong stuff bless her!

Hi to everyone else, Monday box ticked although I'm not sure what I achieved to be honest. Home alone for a couple of nights, DP living it up working in Monaco.

I shall have a glass of red and a nice soak in peace tonight and watch all the soaps woohoo.

Love to all x x x

Magic8ballhastheanswers · 26/04/2010 18:24

Laydeeez

Many congrats Margie! Lovely to see the grads list growing!!

Digitalgirl try not to feel too down, great they will scan you at 6 weeks. x

Big hugs redheadgal It gets you like that some days.....I just had some prospective parents pop round about childminding and as always I get the question "do you think you will have another one"..............I'm not sure how I held it together today........Fingers crossed it was PMT for you.

Cheepz you put it in a nutshell. You are strong lady not to get sucked in, so hard not to get obsessive.

lindalinda I know that feeling when the person looking back at you is not you. You will find her again I promise, time heals, just have to take each day x

Viv is he back in the box? Hope your day was ok hun.

Big wave to everyone else!!!!!!!!

Margie32 · 26/04/2010 17:30

Hi all,

Great to read all the latest posts. Congrats to those who are PG. As of this morning I can add my name to that list. My hands were shaking so much this morning when I took the bloody test out of the packet that I thought I was gonna drop it down the loo, but I did it and it's a BFP.

Obviously I am thrilled. However, I am also scared, nervous, on edge and pessimistic. Isn't it sad that once you've had a MC you'll never regain that innocent belief that everything's going to be fine?

First scan on May 27th, and I know our doc is going to bollock us for not waiting the recommended time after the MC.

Fingers crossed for those who are PG that we all have an uneventful 9 months, and here's hoping that all of you who are trying get to join us ASAP.

digitalgirl · 26/04/2010 17:16

wise wordz cheepz

Feeling a bit disappointed after my scan, but don't know why. She asked me why I was there. I said I thought it was to do with my to referral but wasn't sure why the epdu were scanning me. She said there's been a clerical error but seeing as your here let's scan you.

So, womb is all fine, no polyps or anything untoward lurking. However my ovaries had the 'look' of being polycystic. But seeing as I've ovulated and conceived at least twice in the last 6 months it's not what caused the miscarriages. She said pcos usually prevents you from conceiving in the first place.

Then she said they're not going to run any further tests unless I miscarry again. I asked about whether progesterone deficiency was likely and she said progesterone supplements have never been proven to prevent miscarriages in her experience. I also asked whether taking aspirin would help and she said there's no harm but again unlikely that any blood clotting disorders would have caused the mc's if I've got one healthy ds already. Then I asked if I had a third mc would they start running tests during the mc and she said yes. She also said that some of these tests would have to he done after I'd had two normal periods following the mc. So in a way I suppose it's a good thing they're not investigating now or we'd have to out ttc on hold and I've decided I really want to go for it straightaway.

She said I can call them as soon as I'm pregnant again and they'll book me in for a 6 week scan.

She also said i'm not about to ovulate either as none of my follicles are big enough.

Think I'm going to cut out alcohol and caffeine and try a low-GI diet from now on. It won't change the quality of my eggs, but if it can help regulate my cycles a bit more then that's 50% of the stress dealt with.

Sorry for another me rant but was hoping to have another test of some sort to look forward to. I guess I'm back to obsessively checking my cm and cp. Wish ov sticks and the cbfm would work for me. Unfortunately I've been known to get false lh surges so it's a complete waste of money for me.

Redheadgal · 26/04/2010 16:56

Oh dear. Just burst into tears on a colleague who was nice enough to inquire if I'd had a good Easter. Thought I was feeling better about it all. Evidently not.

On the positive side it might be PMT and the sign of RTD and my cycle getting back to normal.

Cheepz · 26/04/2010 16:11

oh linda your post made my heart reach out - its such a difficult thing, and really sometimes so lonely and you wonder where you went, where di your life go because it all becomes so much about trying and waiting and checking and seeing and then being disappointed and then trying and then being ecstatic and then being devatated and it can quickly get to be too much.

I have a DS - I have decided that if I don't have another child then my life will be different - not worse or better, just different. I think we will, I am 37 and theres no reason why in the next few years we couldn't have a sucessful pregnancy but I have decided its not going to be the thing that dominates my thinking, its not going to define me. I am going to move my life forward, for my son and husband as much as anything but mostly just for myself.

It has taken me 8 months since the first mc to get to this oint and its been really hard sometimes but I have to say - I feel so much better since I decided not to make it my number 1 priority - thank god i needed an op this time which has forced us to stop trying - I wouldn't have taken a month out if it had been a natural one and then maybe I wouldn't have had a window to change.

I feel for you because you sound so lost. It will all come together in time.

Linda, alternative is just lots of SWI... I usually obsess, use OPKs, time things perfectly... This month none of that. However, I am usually pretty regular so I'm sure I knew what needed to be done when which does help. Sometimes all the tracking can become too stressful, only you can know the right balance for you.

Thanks all for such lovely messages... I went away for a day and there are literally dozens of posts to catch up on!!

Magic8ball, thanks for being right!
Moofold, sorry you're back at the start again, that's tough...
Sparkly, yay! Here's hoping we have an easy time and a disrupted new year!!
Who else is joining us, this news usually comes in flurries...

Sorry lack of namechecking, on the phone again so it's a bit slow.... But big thankyous to all. I'll post again tomorrow after nervously checking how far along I am on one of those clever digi tests... Still a bit nervewracking but trying to stay positive and as much as I can to enjoy it, I know how lucky I am

Freezingmyarseoff · 26/04/2010 13:50

Brilliant news Alba and Sparkly it's very heartening for a fairly new newbie like me to see so many BFPs

Afraid I can't stop to namecheck everyone as got lots of deadlines this week before going away next week but hi to everyone

Cheepz · 26/04/2010 13:28

linda boodle (see grads) got preggers twice with preseed so she would swear by it!

on the whole temping and ov tests another option is to take out the effort and get yourself a clearblue fertility monitor (monitor costs about £60), this will track your cycle, you poas when it tells you (10 sticks per cycle and a pack of 20 costs 12 pounds on amazon) and it will tell you the window in which you have the most chance of getting pregnant, as well as any days when you have a high chance - this means no temping, random sticks or watching CM although of course you can because it just tells you when you are most fertile in the month,

using mine i got pregnant 2 out of 4 cycles (both mc but thems the breaks) and I will be using it again straight away - it tells me i am on CD25 at the moment but since its post erpc its just counting days for me at the moment.

what i found using mine after 7 cycles of trying by CM was that my EWCM peak is about 3 days before I ovulate so we had been trying at the wrong time! And since my dh hates knowing about dates and times and ovulation its not like I can jump his bones 5 days in a row around voulation and not have him be deeply suspicious - 2 times in a peak window on the monitor is a hard enough challenge!

I have found ti takes some of the stress out.

lucysnowe · 26/04/2010 12:57

With bold!

Aly I was on metformin before and it worked pretty well. I started at 500mg and worked my way up to 1500mg and was on a low-GI diet and avoided sugar, which helped with the sickness. I was losing weight anyway but I think the met did kick-start my ovulation, and we conceived on the first cycle hard to say if the met (which I continued taking through the first trimester) helped avoid m/c, but I did have a successful pregnancy.
