So, I thought I'd take it upon myself to kickstart the new thread. As the title suggests, this is a wonderful home full of the bravest, funniest and most inspirational women on Mumsnet, who are always ready to lend an ear and a virtual glass of wine.

The new thread is kicked off with 3 bfps in 3 days, so here's to more love and luck along the way

xx

Sorry to hear about your Dad Urd, that must have been a terrible shock. Look after yourself pal

hippychick66 · 27/03/2010 18:09

Thanks Malteser for the very positive news about the 43 year old.

Urd - I feel for you. I lost my Dad 5 years ago he died very suddenly as yours did and I still remember how it felt to lose him like that. There is nothing I can say to you, except what everyone else tells you - You will not feel like this forever, it does get easier. I still think of him and I still miss him but that awful, desperate feeling you have now will get easier - I promise.

So sorry to Cheepz, I cannot imagine how disappointed and sad and bloody well robbed you are feling right now.

Good luck for Tues - Meatandtatty.

LucyT66 · 27/03/2010 18:08

urd - so terribly sorry to hear about the sudden and unexpected loss of your dad. What an awful shock.

Cheepz - sorry to hear your sad news too.

Sorry for not namechecking everyone. And sorry for not being very good at contributing. I feel strangely shy on here.

Back to the bottom for me... xx

Cheepz · 27/03/2010 17:28

Oh urd that is so sad, so very sad, that is too young to go - my Dad is 67 and sounds alot liek yours. You must be so shocked with it being so sudden, very much love to you and your family. Much love and thinking of you.

urd · 27/03/2010 17:07

Cheepz- so sorry to hear your news
Malteser- thats so fantastic, really great to hear.

I am in deep shock today, my wonderful dad passed away yesterday morning, he was 67, the most fit and active dad you could have, played tennis, football with the grandkids and everything you could imagine. He just didn't wake up in the morning. I will continue to check in and read this thread every day but may not comment for the next few weeks. Can this year get any worse? This has just made me even more determined to keep ttc, I will get get my little baby for him. RIP Dad, love you.
Take care allxxx

I hope this fills those in need of it with hope, and makes the newly BFP optimistic.

I delivered a lovely healthy baby girl yesterday. Her mummy was 43 and had had 6 miscarriages following IVF (between 8 -14 weeks). All the investigations were normal and she had given up hope as she was menopausal.......or so she thought!

Sorry to hear that bunnybaby- glad you are managing to be positive- it's so sad when that happens. what highs and lows we're having on this thread.

The dreaded pox! My ds has managed to avoid it so far, so haven't had the pleasure- enjoy the lie in!

BunnyBaby · 27/03/2010 08:17

Ps this now puts me on cycle 2 not 3. Would copy myself but on iPhone and can't work it out, so pretty please (flutters eyelashes) to the next kind soul who can copy and paste

BunnyBaby · 27/03/2010 08:12

moofold perhaps you're having a good clear out which sounds reasonable after such a long wait. Take plenty of vits and eat your spinach so you don't get depleted.

Morning ladies, he's a virtual cuppa and paper in bed being passed round. DS1 has chicken pox, though not too badly and is very happy about everything! As it's Saturday DH is chasing round after him!

clareanna damn, had my fingers crossed it would be a phantom type bleed and you were really pg!

Can someone help me update my stats? I'm back to the bottom on day 2 but it would appear I now have 31 day cycles.

My spotting this month was implantation hence pg symptoms so quickly. My additional cycle was just breakthrough bleeding which increased from spotting at day 10 and settled down just after. Would appear I have had a chemical pg looking at what I am expelling (dark with little clots) though perhaps as this has happened naturally it will sort out the imbalance causing me to spot / bleed for 17 days of each cycle. Off to cranial osteopath this am for her to work on pituatory gland to help get me back to normal.

As DH put it (he's a mechanic) at least you're regular again, but would appear to have a slight mis-fire which needs tuning! I think he's right and am amazed an egg managed to be fertilised amongst all that bleeding. Lol

sparklyrainbow · 26/03/2010 21:59

A miserable catch up

Cheepz, so sorry it's happened again, I can only imagine how that must feel and Alba sorry to hear your news too- definitely book that holiday. Thinking of you both.

Happygirl hoping your bean is sticky and the pains subside.

WestYorks can't offer spa advice but I am the same with One Born a Minute. I always cry and get myself into a state but still put myself through it every week although I do actually enjoy it...I watch it on 4od instead of live though, somehow being on the laptop instead of TV makes it easier. I have no idea why....

Hopefully there'll be some more positive news on here soon. Have a good weekend everyone.

clareanna · 26/03/2010 21:33

Westyorksgirl- don't know what help I can be but here goes... I had to go to a spa with work colleagues when I was 7 weeks preg. I manage the team and for various reasons really didn't want work to know or suspect I was pg. I did go in the sauna and hot tub, but for v short periods of time (ie not enough to feel overheated or sweaty). However, this was the pg that then was an mmc at 12 wks (babys hb stopped at 9.5) so I can't say 100% it was ok. Believe you me I went though every meal I had, everything I did that could have contributed or caused the mc. What I do know is that babies that are meant to be can survive earthquakes and all sorts of awfulness , so abit of spa action should be ok but it depends what risks you're comfortable with if you want to take no risks at all follow the advice of the spa and err on the side of caution. ( a day in a dressing gown sounds good enough for me!) hope this helps

ps RTD has come back - a fickle tide!

Moofold · 26/03/2010 21:17

On a lighter note since that previous post I am just getting round to catching up from the start of this thread and saw Mrs G's post about Facebook. So I'll come look for you and Allthe8s and Viv - I'm quite excited about putting faces to the made up names!

randomimposter · 26/03/2010 21:08

WYG I would say mention it to the spa. All therapists are well trained regarding oils and treatments to avoid in early pregnancy. Most will offer prenatal treatments, specifically designed to be safe and yet still a lovely treat. Apart from avoiding the sauna and hot tubs, there will still be lots of things to do to be spoiled (depending on the spa you're going to). So I'm more in the "do it" camp! Obviously FX you will be pg, but in that you may not be, it seems a shame not to do the day? Lots of lolling about in a robe...? Yummy. Mind you IIRC viv is a bit of a spa aficianado (sp?), she may have other advice.

Weary wave to all. Have suffered today with a late boozy night last night, and a boisterous DS. Also it's been an emotional day with sad news... off to zzz.

Gi1da · 26/03/2010 21:02

Westyorks, sorry was focussing on the sauna aspect. If you tell the masseuse/aromatherapist you are ttc you should be fine so have a relaxing massage. Facial also should be fine. Some essential oils not advised for general use during preg, but as ttc and a one off should be no problem. IMHO.

Moofold · 26/03/2010 21:00

Some sad posts to catch up on this evening. I really am so so sorry to read about Cheepz and Alba,I can't believe fate has been so cruel again. I'm actually feeling quite angry as well. Its so unfair that any of us are here but for this to happen to some more than once is a travesty. Where is the justice, we all deserve a break and some happiness. This is so shit.

Alba, so sorry your joy was short lived. Hope you are ok pal and get your holiday booked up, it will be good to get away. You are being very brave, hang on in there.

Cheepz I think I joined this thread just as you were graduating so I don't know your history. What has happened to you is our worst nightmare, that it will happen again. I had a MMC spotted at 12 week scan and the words of that sonographer will haunt me. You found the strength to try again before and I'm sure you will get there again. Thinking of you both tonight.

Happygirl - hope your pains settle down. I remember some alarming pains early on both times with DD and the little one we lost. I know you will worry anyway but my pregnancy with DD was trouble free despite those terrible pains in the first few weeks. Sure yours will settle down too.

Gilda I was nearly happpy to see arrival of RTD - except being sad all over again about not being pregnant, especially after my delusions of symptoms. I'm hopeful for next cycle - when I got pregnant in Oct last year it was after a similar ridiculously lengthed cycle.

Girls - on the RTD subject I am a little alarmed. Ok, its probably 3 cycle's worth I am expelling but I am in savage pain and having to change a super tampon every hour or so. I normally use regular ones and have fairly medium RTDs. First RTD after ERPC was short and light so unsure if I should worry or not. What do you think?

Big hugs, chocs, wines, anything that will help to those that need them x

Westyorks, sorry can't help, only been pg the once which didn't reach 12 wks and no spas involved. General advice from me would be that if you think there is any chance of an issue then just don't do it. Just so no kicking of self if things go tits up later. Prob nothing you do (bar competing in Marathon belly flob championship) will make a difference but you just don't want any naggy doubts in your head, rational or irrational. Hope that makes sense and doesn't sound pious. Not meant to be.
