So, I thought I'd take it upon myself to kickstart the new thread. As the title suggests, this is a wonderful home full of the bravest, funniest and most inspirational women on Mumsnet, who are always ready to lend an ear and a virtual glass of wine.

The new thread is kicked off with 3 bfps in 3 days, so here's to more love and luck along the way

How many acupuncture sessions do you need? do they have to be on specific days of the cycle?

randomimposter · 08/04/2010 11:38

Hi all
My acupuncture session was interesting... Mostly consultation before the pricks as was my first one.

On the plus side, she was very positive about the fact that I am able to get pregnant quickly at 42 and that it should mean I am not on my last eggs just yet.

On the slightly negative side (though I have to believe she is right) I should abstain from TTC for a few months to try to get pg. Darn. She wants to teach me charting (oh bugger) and then pinpoint when good mucus might equal good egg. Her view is that I should allow my uterus a while to even itself out.

Ultimately it's a view, and I see no reason why it should be less correct than another. So for now I am putting faith in her and her experience (have had several recommendations for her).

Am going to the docs though to get progesterone levels checked and also definitive blood checks (my MW was less than convincing when I quizzed her on my last booking in bloods).

I have a slight headache after the session (maybe unrelated)..... so off to enjoy the sunshine and work out how I'm going to pay for the sessions.... (mind you I have given up booze, that should do it).

Sorry all me me me... Tarra for now x

VivClicquot · 08/04/2010 11:06

Morning lovelies x

So the acupuncture went well, I think - at the very least, I got a nice lie down for an hour before work so am feeling very calm and chilled out!

The acupuncturist lady was lovely - half way through the treatment, she manipulated a couple of the needles and I definitely felt a massive headrush. It felt like I had stood up too quickly, when in fact I was lieing down with my eyes closed.

Next session booked in for next Wednesday (which will be CD10) as she's then off to Australia for two weeks, so will be interesting to see if anything changes cycle-wise by the time I get back.

In other news, stepped on the scales this morning and was frankly horrified so I'm passing round a box of exotic fruit. Mango, anyone?

Morning girlies, looks like it's been busy!

littlemiss how exciting! I'm going to splash out on a CB digi later even though I've done two Boots cheapies. I think I need to see it in writing. I had a feeling you might be upduffed.

cheepz how are you chicken? Top news on the job offer, combined with moving you are most certainly going to fall pg with all the distractions. I say go for it and good on your DH for being so positive. Mine had a bit of a panic over money last night and childcare, then downloaded ipregnancy on the iPhone and started picking names !! Men do puzzle me sometimes!

viv and jolls enjoy the accupuncture, it's deffo the way forward (well I think so anyway) let us know how you get on.

scotch welcome to the madhouse. Sorry you are here but glad you have found us.

tigger thanks honey

train arriving now so will see you all later, have a good day x

Cheepz · 07/04/2010 22:51

ooooo clare hate that, dh and i had a row one peak swi night and I had to apologise even though i was right and make peace just to swi when i was busy thinking he was being a total plank ... not easy this whole ttc biz - and getting dh to swi on schedule one of the most tensest things, esp if you have one like mine who wants to know nothing about dates, times and peaks and so on ...

Moofold · 07/04/2010 22:46

Clare dammit! Pesky menfolks. Hope its not a peak you are missing out on.

Moofold · 07/04/2010 22:44

I'll have faith in my monitor and see where it gets me then

clareanna · 07/04/2010 22:43

Hmm dh not in a rumpy pumpy state of mind- something to do with a job interview tomorrow morning and needing to prepare - think I can let him off this time...(!) He seems to think it's a bit like footballers before a big game. This swi business is tricky sometimes!

Moo isn'. All the poas action great?!!!

Cheepz · 07/04/2010 22:06

moo on the post mc fertility, after first mc it took 7 cycles, after second mc it took no cycles - got pregnant on the next one, so it can go either way, on the CBFM I got pregnant on two out of the four months I used mine so cycle 3 and cycle 4 on the monitor got pg, also discovered my peak EWCM actually seemed to be a few days before my peak ovulation on the monitor - which might have accounted for the 7 cycles where I was using EWCM as an indicator - turns out it was 3 or 4 days too early! just how mine seemed to work but did confuse me as I was sure you were just sposed to go at it like a rabbit first sign of ewcm - but that didn't work for me!

am now back on the monitor just to see if i ovulate this cycle and to avoid any peak days while have no womb lining!

Moofold · 07/04/2010 21:42

Flippin heck, turn my back for one day and there's Littlemiss with some excellent news and WYG with some promising signs. Great news lassies - WYG it would be nothing short of criminal for your outstanding efforts to have gone to waste.

Your job offer sounds like just the thing Cheepz, amazing being headhunted as well! The sods law is bound to work towards getting you pregnant so go for it!

I was actually told at the hosptial about the ERPC scraping away lining but I didn't really have confidence in the doc's explanations. However, we did decide to wait to be on the safe side. Then after that stupidly long cycle not resulting in a BFP I've missed out on that other urban myth - the uber fertile 3 months post MC. Although that seems to be true for lots of ladies on here so there might be something in that one.

Clareanna how exciting about your CBFM. You and I are cycle twins using CBFM for the first time. Mine is still saying low - although my CM has been looking promising so hope I will get a shot soon, instead of at day fecking 52! Action stations for you!

Hello to everyone else and a big cuddle for Urd x

tigger15 · 07/04/2010 21:27

Barren just wanted to wish you good luck. You give me hope as the one ahead on the list.

Cheepz · 07/04/2010 20:46

gilda your bullets cannot harm me .... used to watch it before brownies!?!?!?

now had another convo about job and it sounds awesome, much more problematic as more travelling which will cause childcare complications and am sure I will miss out on maternity bens but can negotiate certain amount into package because old boss knows about miscarriage and knows I will carry on trying - its the most positive I have felt about life other than trying for baby for a while and I think might be just what I need - they need to move quickly though and our house is on the market and I am wondering how much change I can handle, if I change jobs and we move house and I get pregnant all in one go that could be quite full on! DH is a star though I ran through it all and he just said 'we will manage, we always do!' he's such a rock.

all8s its crapola when you are having a low spell but happens to us all from time to time, cycle 3, 4 and especially5 after 1st mc when nothing seemed to be happening for me was the worst I have been! Hope things seem brighter for you soon

viv and jolls all this talk about acupuncture is making me think about whether might help ... keep posted on how it goes

hippy i read that too about womb lining (we are clearly stalking same websites!!) except it said 2 cycles on the site i read as erpc can take too much away and not leave enough lining to support a pregnancy if you get pg right away. I am defo leabving it until after first RTD - if I change jobs might leave it 2 just to be sure

righto - must be about time for Austrlias biggest loser!! bless Sky Real Lives

Gi1da · 07/04/2010 20:23

Hey Allthe8s

Sorry your having a packoshite time. I'll join you on the twoweekcrazytrain, and in the mean time wishing you a Batfink wings (shields-of-steel)* against any crap life tries to chuck at you.
*Wooo that soooo shows my age!

Allthe8s · 07/04/2010 19:59

Ladies ladies ladies new (welcome) and old (waves like crazy).....hope you are all well this evening : )

Forgive me for not name checking and apologies for my lack of attendance I haven't been on much had a little bit of a crappy week/fortnight so have been laying low not wanting to drag you all down!

In my low-ness, I decided to go against my consultants advice rightly or wrongly and am now in 2ww territory and I am hoping it goes by quickly. Forgive me if I stay away and lurk but I need to keep the pressure cooker lid on!

I am pleased to see some more BFPs!!!!!!!! A LINE IS A LINE!!!! Chuffed for you ladies and it's nice to see you still around Unbuffy : ) Keep us posted!

Cadburys creme egg anyone???????

x

clareanna · 07/04/2010 19:58

littlemiss !!! eeek!!!! ,said in quiet mouse way> I knew it!!!! those pesky cramps - exactly what I had last time - fingers (and toes) crossed for tomorrow's test - crack open the CB Digital I say

Viv and Joll i'll be v interested to hear how your treatment goes - I've been looking for an acupunturist for a while for a shoulder problem plus fertility.. in fact my list is so long I think I'll look like that pinhead bloke from hellraiser during the treatmet (livin' in the 80s...)

urd hope you are OK - thinking of you.

WestYorkshiregirl spa and a facial?! That man is obviously after one thing!!! just as well it's on the cards only joking - what a treasure - could he run training sessions for other DHs?!

gi1da the sun is coming back this weekend - have been reliably informed by DH.

Scotch welcome to the thread - just seeing your name has started me having unclean thoughts about a bottle of wine - must resist schoolnight temptation....

As for me, CBFM says go go go which is earlier than I would have predicted by my usual cycle - it could just be being ultra cautious, but coupled with my new appreciation of all things egg white related I think it could have a point so we'd better get cracking - woo hoo!

randomimposter · 07/04/2010 19:50

WYG dontcha know POAStick is SO last year... now it's more reliable to POASpud.... glad you had a lovely spa break. Would LOVE one of those myself. DREAMY!

viv - you and me both acupunture tom! mine's at 9.40, my first appointment... looking forward to it.

Gilda, loving the relaxed state... tres chilled. And get you with your linguistic prowess... all flash on us!

Hi to all
x

Gi1da · 07/04/2010 19:41

Gosh! A sotto voce whoop whoop for LittleMiss! Love the image of you going round the house checking the test in different lights . A line is a line is a line!

Waves to Scotchontherocks & Freezingmyarseoff - ahoy!

WestYorks ooooooooooooooooohh exciting! Can't say you didn't put the effort in! And top marks to your DH for pampering you.

Viv enjoy your treatment. Big OM to you!

Cheepz how lovely to be offered a job without asking - top compliment. And sod's law of course to ensure imminent duffation.

Waves at Unbuffy - howya doin Dufferoo?

Hello to everybody else Ooo that's quite tiring. Don't want to exhaust my gin lifting wrist..

Scotchontherocks · 07/04/2010 19:28

Thanks for the welcomes, ladies.

Tentative congratulations littlemiss.

Gins are definitely on me!

hippychick66 · 07/04/2010 19:16

westyorkshiregirl Thats it girl - you be positive., I'm definitely going for that approach and I'll deal with the disappointment when/if it comes. Come join me in being positive .

Cheepz I was told to wait one cycle after my EPRC. We weren't sure if it was simply for dating purposes but decided to go with it. I also had an idea that the lining of the womb can be a bit thin after an EPRC and I didn't want to get preg and then lose it cos the lining wasn't right, we felt that would be too awful. I must say though that I cannot remember where i heard/read that bit about the lining - so don't quote me! Good luck when you are ready to ttc again. You are one brave and strong woman .

WestYorkshireGirl · 07/04/2010 19:00

clearly I am so relaxed and tired I can't spell - I should have written 'I felt quite queasy in the car"!

WestYorkshireGirl · 07/04/2010 18:58

Hi Ladies

I am just back from my surprise spa break and am very relaxed! DH even booked us superior rooms and booked me a facial so he has lots of brownie points! Am away again tomorrow till the weekend, but thought I would drop in and see what's been happening in my absence (and there's been a lot of action!)

Welcome to the newbies.
Barrenbrook congrats on your BFP!
Happygirl glad you are through your latest milestone.
Littlemiss possible exciting news, will hope tomorrow brings more news!
jollister misread your post and thought you said 'pee on some spuds!'

Something interesting happened to me today - I felt cwet queasy in the car and I was so tired on the way home I couldn't stay awake. These are not normal things for me... DH remarked first that this might be the sign of something, but I am too nervous to write anything down in case I've got it all wrong.... The reason I think this may be significant is that when I was PG before, I experienced extreme tiredness about 8/9 days after SWI which was just after a bad car accident. I did a test which was negative and put it down to the trauma of the accident. I did another test 5 days later which was negative. 7 days later when I was on day 39 & I had sore boobs, I tested again and it was positive. So, I may have reason to be hopeful, but it could all end in tears! We'll just have to see - I have cooked brown rice with my chili tonight just in case to be healthy!

Will be back soon!

VivClicquot · 07/04/2010 17:40

Awwww littlemiss - a line is a line is a line honey. A very quiet whoop whoop from me too.

And zayja - while we'll miss you on here, I'm pleased you're feeling optimistic about everything. Make sure you do pop back in from time to time.

As for me - I'm quite excited about tomorrow morning's acupuncture appointment. I'm going to be the epitome of zen when I log on here afterwards...
