So, I thought I'd take it upon myself to kickstart the new thread. As the title suggests, this is a wonderful home full of the bravest, funniest and most inspirational women on Mumsnet, who are always ready to lend an ear and a virtual glass of wine.

The new thread is kicked off with 3 bfps in 3 days, so here's to more love and luck along the way

xx

Nom noms are lovelinesses of the food variety, or the sound of enjoyment of said loveliness

as in "Mmm cake nom nom nom"

Gi1da · 15/04/2010 21:05

Freezing thanks, I will try Ocado, I think I saw the same thread and didn't read all as my judgey pants prevent me from ever setting foot in Tescos. Word to the Wise - don't ask why I boycott Tesco. I won't be able to explain lucidly but am likely to start frothing at the mouth, and spittle is SO not a good look.

Am interested in the wisteria, well done you! Its on my own garden wish-list so will be looking for tips. (Just moved and it's a blank canvas out there to put it kindly).

Clarea still chuckling at CMFM. Although I think my ovaries will pack up and leave home if I ever inflict Zita on them.

PrettyMrsG hope the day went well. And that Sheffield caved in and gave you a winning baybee lottery ticket for next month's draw.

WestYorkshireGirl · 15/04/2010 20:54

What's a nom-nom?

Gi1da · 15/04/2010 20:49

Nom-noms bloody presumptuous iPod spelling wizard!

Gi1da · 15/04/2010 20:46

Westy so very sorry, what an awful day for you. It will happen, it will. It bloody well WILL. I understand you just want it now though

I hope your DH is home to make you hot water bottles and bring you wine, cake or nom-moms as needed.

Freezingmyarseoff · 15/04/2010 20:39

Evening everyone

WYG so sorry to hear about your shit day, really thinking of you.

Nbelle glad you're feeling a bit better today. You're in Norway aren't you? I suddenly had visions of your DH driving back to UK from Oslo. RTD is red tide of doom (ie. period) - I only found out the other day

Clareanna like the CMFM - sounds interesting

Good luck Cheepz in finding a spa for the weekend - I would love one too

Gonnebe good name - I like it

LadyBee what film did you see last night?

G1ida I do likey Ocado. Tried it out after reading a MN thread about it. Give it a whirl. Talking of gardening I seem to have swapped knicker checking for wisteria flower bud checking. Have been here 4 years, and have tried every year to prune the wisteria to get it to flower, but am complete gardening novice so don't really have clue what to do. However, this year there seems to be some positive flowering type buds (I think). Unfortunately I'll keep you and everyone else updated even if you're not interested!

VivCliquot you're making me feel about healthy eating, have just inhaled a massive bag of crisp waiting for DH to come home. I meant to be cooking dinner but not hungry now. Plus my motto is "never say no to champagne* (not that I get offered it very often)

PrettyVacant hope the day at work went well

Hello to digigirl, bunnybaby, GLB, Moofold, LAF, and Allthe8s and everyone else v sorry if I have missed you out

BunnyBaby · 15/04/2010 20:22

wyg really sorry your cycle is confusing you. I had two long 31 day cycles with 18 days of bleeding / spotting for both, it was so odd that the breakthrough bleeding was as heavy as a period. However this month all seems back to normal with 28 day cycle and early fertility peak.

It's all a bit scary but trust your body and mother nature are sorting you out. I've got a very good cranial osteopath who helped balance my hormones and physiology which I think helped.

I also think last month I had a chemical pregnancy which reset things for me. As you're bleeding very heavily perhaps you have had the same and it's helping you rebalance again.

nbelle and laf it's a really tough time physically let alone mentally. My heart is with you, make sure you get lots of tlc and talk about it as little or as much as you want to.

LAF77 · 15/04/2010 20:10

Thanks for all of your lovely messages of support. Yesterday was a tough day visiting the EPU and confirming that our bean was gone. I suppose I can be grateful that I have had a natural m/c.

I am sorely tempted to play TTC roulette rather than be on the sidelines for the next two months. I've got a doctor's appt on Tuesday to see if anything should be done about the fibroid as I'd hate for it to be a problem further down the line.

It's not easy when you have pregnant friends and everything is going well for them. Hopefully, my turn will come.

NBelle · 15/04/2010 20:08

moofold are you scottish? just some of your terminology made me think of home

Felt like a bag of shite last night, was bleeding heavily and really bad cramps and of course my DH was away for the night. He is now driving home from Oslo after his flight was cancelled because of the volcanic ash.

Feeling better again today, guess it's an up and down thing.

DH and I both have tomorrow off and we are heading out at night for an Indian and a few cocktails/beers since it is my birthday on Sunday.

I think my stats are as follows: TTC#1 MMC 09/04/10 UCL 27-29, on the WTTC list, have to wait for a period first before we start the IVF process again.

What's RTD?

WestYorkshireGirl · 15/04/2010 20:08

Been away with work. In a bit of a state. In meeting this aft, developed terrible cramps, then in loo at Peterborough station discovered was bleeding. Made it home, got absolutely shocking pains, mostly in the middle and low down, am totally exhausted and gutted that I am clearly not pg. No idea what's going on as last 2 cycles were 37 days (and that length before I got pg first time), this one now 29 days. If this cycle is earlier than others, then the huge amounts of SWI for 9 days should have been successful. All RTDs since mc have been very painful - is this normal?

I really was getting hopeful again with all the tiredness and random queasiness and it's just so bloody rubbish. How am I going to manage if it takes so bloody long to get pg? I just want one baby - my first - like everyone else seems to have. I know at 31 time is not exactly ebbing away, but I just can't explain it. I've been married for 10 years and the time is right. I don't know what to do or how to cope. Today has been such a shitty day. I am so sorry for the rant - it's not like me. I hope you are doing better than me.

clareanna · 15/04/2010 19:54

CMFM ? weird new eggwhite related radio station with non stop Zita West playing?!
should have read CBFM...

clareanna · 15/04/2010 19:52

Digi what pants. Thanks for understanding NYE baby would have to be C-Section after unrepeatable time last time, so that would be just before xmas! but I don't care! (is that selfish for poor child

GLB was spot responsible for volcanic ash erruption?! I am allowed to tease as am also prone to monster spot attack. Spots and wrinkles - if you'd told me this at 13 I may have never left my room

Have been and had my hair done and did obligatory "look at my bouncy new hair" walk down the street. Feel far better than this morning/last night - shallow, moi?!

Turns out it might have been slightly hormonal too - CMFM fans - I got a peak a PEAK! this is brill as shows at least body is working again... why am I telling you this?! need to be telling DH whilst wearing best pants....!

Goodluckbear · 15/04/2010 18:55

Man, Digigirl - those guys are crap. Swear away.

Viv that all makes perfect sense to me and I'm sticking with it, seeing as I was probably having a glass a day up to the day RTD was due. I obviously beat myself up about it considerably, and am making up for it by being supremely healthy now. Apart from the M&S chocolate mini bites (but surely M&S is healthy by definition?)

Have stopped playing with The Spot, going point Cheepz. Think Spot is on it's way out now anyway, it looks less interesting this afternoon.

Love the new name Gonnabe!!

xxx

Oh digital swear away how annoying for you - so thoughtless of them not to come back to you. Glad you've booked your gp regardless.

Re the being healthy I'm kinda still a wine lover I'm afraid but I'm with viv the minute I get positive I will be tea total. I'm caffine free, but only cos I drink so much and it tastes just as good de caf so hubbie and I gave up a while ago - although I do succumb to a diet coke at times....

viv I'm a 28 day cycle girl I think! That's how I work out when I'm due and it's always on time give or take 24 hrs - would you put me on the list please?

Right I'm going to scuttle out of work early - shhhhh!!
X

VivClicquot · 15/04/2010 17:21

Digitalgirl - swear away. If it makes you feel any better, I had to phone and chase my EPU for the results of the genetic testing on my placental tissue after my second loss. The fucking fuckers had only fucking lost the sample, so no test was done. Fuckers.

OP posts:
VivClicquot · 15/04/2010 17:19

Ooh Clareanna, whereabouts are you going? I'm a bornandbred Derbyshire lass, you know - albeit one that's now in exile up the A6 in Manchester.

Gonnabe - LOVING the positive thinking. Based on what you've just said, your stats are along the lines of:

Gonnabe TTC#1 UCL?? Cycle 2 CD1

I'm not sure what your usual cycle length is, hence the question marks x

Digitalgirl - I'm trying to eat as healthily as I can but am not totally abstaining from alcohol or caffeine. To be fair, I'm not a big coffee drinker (one ponceymochachocoskinnyventibullshitlatte a day!) so the occasional glass of sauv blanc is my only vice.

Plus I know it sounds reckless and I'll probably get flamed to hell, but given the average embryo doesn't emplant until D7-10, with BFPs coming around D14, there's only a 4-7 day window in which what you eat/drink would have an effect on the baby - and unless you're drinking booze or red bull all day every day, the effect of one glass of wine or one cup of coffee would be small I'm sure.

(Note: I only dabble in medicine )

OP posts:
digitalgirl · 15/04/2010 17:15

Right, GP appt booked anyway. Sorry for swearing.

digitalgirl · 15/04/2010 17:11

Right am really fucked off

Just called the EPDU to get the results from yesterday's blood test. And they're closed. They were supposed to call me. Not only do I have to have a fucking miscarriage but I have to chase my own miserable results to confirm it. I just wanted to book a GP appointment off the back of those results.

digitalgirl · 15/04/2010 17:04

clareanna I had a massive freakout when I'd hit three months after my last MC. Think I was worried that we'd missed the 3 months of 'super-fertility' myth and that i'd never get pg again EVER. Obviously I got that wrong. You can't really overplan these things. Say you do get a NYE due date, the baby might have other ideas about coming early (DS was 3 weeks early) or late.

LAF So sorry for your miscarriage, you've come to right place. I've only been here since Monday and it's already been a source of comfort.

wannabe sorry bout RTD. I find CD1 the worst, but by CD5 it's a new cycle and there's a lot to look forward to.

cheepz Don't know whereabouts you are but Bailiffs Court has a lovely spa. I would so love a spa weekend right now, that would just do the trick. Or maybe a Hotel Du Vin weekend. Food, booze and then a bit more booze and food.

DH is currently stuck in Italy waiting to find out how delayed his flight back tomorrow morning is going to be. We're supposed to be going to a shot-gun wedding tomorrow. The bride is 14 weeks pregnant and the invites were telephoned out 4 weeks ago. Was really looking forward to telling her that we'd be on maternity leave together. Oh well. Hope I don't burst into tears too many times tomorrow, still haven't cried yet.

Toying with the idea of doing the super-healthy thing in order to minimise risks of another mc. Was eating/drinking as normal till I got my BFP as I didn't want to spend all the time living as if I was pretending to be pregnant. But now am wondering if the caffeine/booze I had in the 2ww might not have helped. Is everyone else doing this?

Gonnabe · 15/04/2010 16:52

Ta darrrr... new positive name..

Bunny Im not on the list, as i dont really understand it?! I MC in Feb, had my first RTD about 5 weeks after that and now have begun the second RTD today- I dont have any Tiddlywinks yet.

Had the longest day at work ever today.... cant wait for home time when its sausages, mash, peas and wine for dinner YUM YUM. Diet and exercise starts Monday!!

Love to all

clareanna · 15/04/2010 15:57

I like bug hugs thanks cheepz! Also sounds like something my ds would be fond of... thanks also to you and glb we are going to derbyshire this weekend to a cottage so should be good. Hopefully we can chat then.

cheepz ragdale? Babington? Bovey? Mandarin oriental ? You will be relaxed this weekend!

LAF so sorry for your loss, hope we can support you through this time

wannabe - argh what a nightmare, poor you. Sending you a big hug

prettyg how did you first day at big school go? Hope it went well ? What news from the baybee givers in Sheffield?

moo still high, no peak- arggh

have just been given a bag of peanut m&ms by work colleague- these are not in keeping with new healthy lifestyle so am putting them out for all to share

BunnyBaby · 15/04/2010 15:57

gonnabe are you on the stats list? I looked but couldn't see you there. X

wannabeamum · 15/04/2010 14:08

Thanks bunny and cheepz and to everyone. I know you are right. Might change my name to gonnabeamum - bit less depressing! I have only been trying a little while so I must stop being such a whinger. Although on my walk to Westfield to buy lunch (and wine) today I counted no less that 7 pregnant ladies..

Cheepz · 15/04/2010 13:43

afternoon ladies, not managing to get much done today as we are suposed to be flying to dubling tomorrow but a cloud of volcanic ash has closed all the airports and cancelled all flights ... gahhhhh, now looking for UK spa options in case we can't go - am buggered if i am giving up grown up weekend of r&r although would be shame not to see pals in ireland and get super cheap fab suite from our friend the hotel manager ... means actually doing any work is a low second priority right now!

PV sounds like you are having a busy day and have a load going on at work, good to be busy though, having time when you are in our shoes is abit of a problem I find - better not to have much time to fester! And quite right, get yee on the blower to Sheffield and demand they provide you with your baybeee, like right now

Clarea bug hugs to you today, my DH was also abit of a cholcolate teapot when it came to 'getting it' and was always abit menana menana, next month will be fine, i think they don't get how much you are putting on hold or the emotional investment in the waiting and checking and counting and so on, DH gets it now but only after 9 months and 3 mcs he finally realises my whole life has been on hold waiting to get and stay pregnant and the frustration of it not happening as per the plan. try and get him on some neutral territory - out of the house - and tell him how you feel

GLB I also get big spots with hormones although mostly they lurk and dissipate if I leave them alone, unfortunately I never manage to leave them alone and end up with big scabby spots where I have scrathed and poked and fiddled with them .... leave it!

bunnyb love their little announcements, at the weekend DS announced loudly in our garden that 'dere musenic (music) is toooo loud' about our neighbours noise levels, atwhich point the musenic in question was turned down a little - we have lovely neighbours, but the 'I dun a poo' 'I been sick' 'mine did big pip' type announcements crack me up

wannabe its tough, underneath everything every time she blows its tough, until the day where you can say 'ding dong the witch is dead' thinking of you xx

right champneys have no availability - time to look at pennyhill park!
