So, I thought I'd take it upon myself to kickstart the new thread. As the title suggests, this is a wonderful home full of the bravest, funniest and most inspirational women on Mumsnet, who are always ready to lend an ear and a virtual glass of wine.

The new thread is kicked off with 3 bfps in 3 days, so here's to more love and luck along the way

xx

*Teaser" Thanks. How do the ovulation tests work then or is it obvious e.g. you POAS then they tell you when you ov and therefore when to SWI? Do you have to do one a day?

Freezing I started the quieter July 2010 thread so wasn't on August. Occasionally look at it which is all a bit weird considering when I started it I never dreamed of having a mc.

Am impressed at all the talk of gardening, Jollster and Gilda - certainly the right thing to be doing in the sunshine.

Am off to Northumberland tomorrow so better sign off now and get some kip!

randomimposter · 20/04/2010 21:17

Gilda stay as long as you like - you make us larf. Know you will, but please wear gloves when you are gardening yes?

Good news Digi. Alba, if there are any smarties going, would LOVE some. After all, only smarties have the answer .

Freezing - lucky you with wisteria, I am SOOOOOOOOOOO ungreenfingered - boo.

Hope all ok - off to bed soon, tired out from gardening (badly), and DS cutting out his daytime nap. Before he's 2? I did NOT order one of those...

Freezingmyarseoff · 20/04/2010 20:31

cheepz you always so positive, you're a real inspiration - thank you. I will try to look at bfn as drawing under the past and looking forward to the summer and my flowering wisteria and house extension and a bfp.

Moofold I had a couple of blood tests at the EPu and they said HCG was coming down as expected but they asked me to do a pregnancy test one week after last blood test to check HCG had returned to "normal, non-pregnant" levels. They asked me to pay for my own sticks, but my sister works in a hospital and managed to get some for me (shhh)- which really helps because I'm crap at POAS and usually use at least 2 at a time before I get it right Can't even contemplate POAS every single day for ovulation tests so not an option for me when we start TTC again

WYG were you on the Aug 2010 thread? I think I remember seeing you there. Annoying for you to have to go back for a re-test but at least they may be able to give you some more answers

Digital that's positive to get referred, a good step in the right direction.

Gl1da at the crochet

Bunder hope the headaches go away very soon

Dorcas my sympathies with you, going through the same thing. Have a large Gin and Tonic - I am

Waves to Alba, Red, Clareanna, Jolster, Littlemiss, Viv and MrsPretty and everyone else. Always worry I've missed someone on the namecheck

malteser1981 · 20/04/2010 20:04

Westyorkshire - very cheap and reliable ovulation and pregnancy tests.

dorcas111 · 20/04/2010 20:04

Cheepz you're right, it is better to have got a BFN. I tested a week after the mc, then two weeks, both positive and that was equally hard, the stick telling me I was pregnant and knowing I'm not. Basically everything about this mc business is rubbish! I'm sorry that things are taking so long for you to get back to normal and hope they do soon.
Moofold I don't know why they ask you to do it- to make absolutely sure you are not pregnant still? They have called me too to make sure- I need to call them back to let them know but can't face it right now.

Gi1da · 20/04/2010 19:48

at Scotch's nipples, Moof I'm glad you did a double take too!

Great news Digi answers are good and even if they test and the answer is well, no idea, everything looks fine, then you know you were just very very unlucky.

Crap about being asked to pee on sticks, that's just emotional thumbscrews . Are they providing sticks or are you having to buy them (yet more )? I had my levels checked by a couple of blood tests and that seemed good enough for them.

West glad you are feeling better, in all ways

MrsPretty strength to you and MrPretty. I know you're in dark days right now, but in a little way I hope it's good to know you have a whole team rooting for you.

Garden update - yup, the local felines are LOVING the new veg patch toilet. Will get back out there at the weekend, hoe it, de-poo it then am planning a crazy string cat-confuzzulator contraption - have you seen Entrapment? Like the lasers but a bit more crochet

Am happy to move down the list but please don't take my locker key off me yet. I feel at home here and I'd only lurk as I want to know how you all are!

WestYorkshireGirl · 20/04/2010 19:43

Dorcas sorry you are feeling low. It is all part of the grieving process and all I can say is that it does get better in time.

Teaser what are you bulk buying?

Digitalgirl I am really pleased you have been referred & brownie points to DH for going with you.

freezing I sorry you are feeling down and I sympathise that it's harder when you are around babies. My dog and cats are lovely but there's just something so different about babies..

All those in the 2WW, that's another day gone!

Red your research sounds interesting. Working for English Heritage, the history stuff is just my thing.

Well, I've come out of my doom and gloom and gone back to work even though I still have a sore throat.
Got blood test results back from Drs and I have to go back next Tues for a re-test as the results 'weren't in the correct range'. When pressed the receptionist didn't know what this meant either! When I asked about the HCG one she said I wasn't pg (which I knew). I had the bloods done 16 hours after I started bleeding, but I don't know how long it takes for your HCG to go down after a mc - by the look of things on here, some weeks so maybe I wasn't pg. The Dr did say it could be iron deficiency causing the tiredness, queasiness, heavy bleeding etc. When I have had the second tests done I will go back and ask what it all means.

So, if I wasn't pg and didn't mc, I don't feel so bad or useless as lots of people have 1 mc (which is a very bad thing), but I think I'd started to think there may be something wrong. Now I have a bit of hope again and don't think we should take a break, I just need to try to chill out a bit more....

On that note, I had a lovely visit to one of our country houses today - the sun was shining and although it was cold I looked at the flowers and thought life isn't that bad really.

That's my bit of self-help for today and I'm trying to stick with it!

malteser1981 · 20/04/2010 19:25

Just out it in at the checkout. Hope it;s useful.

Moofold · 20/04/2010 19:22

No one even told me to do pregnancy tests after the MC and ERPC? Why do they ask you to do that? Can understand it just one more awful reminder and kick in the teeth though.

Littlemiss I misread your post and thought you were suggesting we all enjoy Scotch's nipples!! That happens to me a lot - I sometimes wonder if I have a mutated form of Tourettes where I see rude/ swear words that just aren't there!

BUnderTheBonnet · 20/04/2010 18:18

I'm with Dorcas on the snooty little smug-arse sticks. BFNs suck, even when they're "good" ones.

I'm still off work - did anyone else have really foul headaches after they MCed? My head feels like it's about to come off whenever I stand up.

Congrats to everyone with great news, and commiserations to everyone with sad news too.

Cheepz · 20/04/2010 18:17

ah but dorcus once you have a bfn you can try again, i have the opposite problem - i am nearly 3 weeks past ERPC and still getting faint BFP ... granted its way lighter than the last one so fading, but still enough that if I was trying I would be on here shouting about very faint but possible BFP and getting all excited - in some ways it means you can't draw a line under the mc and move forward, it reminds you you were pregnant and now youre not but still not back to normal which means longer to wait until we can get a RTD and longer before we can try again!

Its a no win situation really, but try and see it as a positive.

I recommend a bit chunk of pate, followed up by prawns and topped off with some chilled champers and a double espresso!

dorcas111 · 20/04/2010 17:18

Hi Freezing, I did a test yesterday to confirm my hcg levels had returned to normal and got a negative. Which I know is a 'good' thing, but it felt like it set me back emotionally about three weeks. There's just something horrible about having it confirmed- you know that you are not pregnant but it feels like that stupid little stick is really rubbing your nose in it. Drank lots of vino last night with friends, not sure if that helped as still feel very low today but I just thought screw it, I'm not pregnant I'm going to have a drink. Might go and find some ripe french cheese to ingest next.

digitalgirl · 20/04/2010 13:44

GP has referred me! Yay! Two mc's in less than 6 months plus I had a lot of bleeding in my first trimester with ds so he reckons that's enough to warrant talking to a gynae. So pleased he didn't just fob me off. Although I'm obviously hoping that it's a complete waste of time and that there's absolutely no reason why my next pregnancy won't be successful.

In my excitement at being referred I completely forgot to ask about early ante-natal support. But hoping that if I'm having gynae appointments that they'll keep a close eye on me should i manage to score a bfp anytime soon.

Might not even bother with testing this weekend, as think bleeding has finished (hate hate hate bfns). Quicker than last time, but maybe because it stopped developing even earlier.

Waves to everyone. Am missing the sunshine today working in a basement studio. Have had a huge chocolate brownie to make up for it.

Freezingmyarseoff · 20/04/2010 12:40

Hello for today

Normally I would say it's a little early for some Pimms, but feeling a bit down today so going to help myself, thank Scotch.

Just done a pregnancy test to check that HCG levels are back to normal, and although it was negative and therefore things are okay, it still feels depressing. We had a lovely weekend with some friends coming to stay with their 5 month old, but it was hard too. It just made me realise that I really want another baby (although I know we're lucky already). They were telling of us how many of our friends are pregnant and both DH and I were feeling very sad and quiet.

We've decided to wait for 2 cycles rather than 3 because I have arthritis and it's really flaring up. I'm on the maximum dose of medication that is okay for getting pregnant. (well as much as being on any on medication when TTC can be) If it gets worse then I'll have to change to methrexate which is a definate no-no for TCC, so I'm terrified of it getting any worse.

On the postive side, I think my cycle is kicking in again - although counting ahead that will mean RTD (although probably not really RTD if not TCC) during our 1st child free holiday -

please please please stop the symptom spotting. Week two of 2ww, and despite being pretty sure this month is not my month I can't help but hope. Must NOT test until well and truly late (please keep reminding me!). Don't want any more upsets...

So, to keep me busy, I had a go at the list... apols if any mistakes -- maltybaby (I can't remember being in my 20s either) I've put you on the grads list as you said you were happy to move a few pages back... but I didn't get back far enough to find out what date your BFP was...
lucysnowe CD is cycle day, first day of RTD is day1
Gi1da huge congrats, fab news, haven't moved you yet, will leave it to you to decide when you're ready but really really happy for you
Pretty it's just not fair that you have more challenges in the baby race. Very best of luck, hope this is the last hurdle.

I forgot to hand round the holiday cakes at the weekend - so sharing now, DS's extra large tube of smarties with Winnie the Pooh on top. Saved us from what looked set to be a very protracted tantrum in Gare du Nord on the way home, so they're lucky smarties

Big wave to all x

PS viv will join Cheepzy with vicarious symptom spotting too if that's ok.... ooo what fun.

malteser1981 · 20/04/2010 10:36

Jollster - I am going to be thirty next year you know!

Morning all, hope the sun is shining where you are, it's a lovely day up north.

littlemiss72 · 20/04/2010 10:13

Morning all, Gi1da!! Bloody hell, that was a sneaky BFP. Yay Yay Yay!!!

Hello to everyone else, I'm not up to going through and name checking today, had a sickness bug since the weekend I feeling a little poorly.

scotch share the pimms woman! looks like we are going through this month together so I'll sit quitely at the back with you whilst sampling your fine tipples..

GOOD NEWS ALERT, been supporting a friend at work with PCOS, she contact me yesterday to tell me she has a BFP!

Happy Tuesday all x

Redheadgal · 20/04/2010 10:07

So sorry to hear your news Pretty. But hoping that all this testing and waiting will result in a healthy baby for you.

Really am stoked for all those with a +

I'm now at the 'sod-wanting-to-be-preggers-I-just-want- to-ovulate' stage. Stupidly hoped I'd be the one to buck the trend and ovulate straight after mc. Now accepting it's going to be a long wait.

For all those in search of alternative remedies... I'm still grappling with the somewhat close to the bone subject of medieval miscarriage. Had a lady yesterday who had given birth to three sons prematurely and all had died. Turns out it was because of the sins of the father. Thankfully wrapping the belt of St Godric around you is a tried and tested solution. I'm repeatedly amazed at the level of gynaecological know how, but equally saddened by the descriptions of inter-uterine deaths

Cheepz · 20/04/2010 10:06

ooooh viv i have cramping - do you think 1 dpo is too early for implantation cramps

shit - maybe i am ovulating - have finally stopped bleeding 3 weeks after erpc = no shagging for me!

VivClicquot · 20/04/2010 09:38

Hahah Cheepz, yes you can. You can join me in regular subtle boob prodding, and speculation that the funny taste in our mouths is because of a baby, rather than off milk.

gilda still smiling for you babe

digigirl good to find out what you are entitled to, ante natal support post mc is reeeeeaaaallllllly important so kick some GP butt

right time to call solicitors and mortgage company .. busy busy
