Dashing off to my scan & pleased monkeybabe otherwise growing well, but with the nuchal 2.5mm is about average so 3mm not massively over, my 3rd babe had 6mm & they even said that could of 'corrected' itself, obviously my immune issue was what caused that mc so will never know, however did lots of research at time, alot of women can be given high odds (higher than 3mm) & go on to have perfectly healthy babys, but i do kno the heartwrenching worry & turmoil she is now goin thru, so unfair after all her worry, just send her a hug from me please... must dash x x x x x

iggypiggy · 23/03/2010 09:46

In case not clear - i copied that bit fo text above fromthe second link...

iggypiggy · 23/03/2010 09:45

Oh Monkey what a worry xx So good that baby was moving around loads. I found this thread which has some info - and I also found something else online on another forum things link:

I had the nuchal fold scan at 12 weeks and our measurement was 3.1mm. Even though our chances of everything being fine are still 99.4 percent, I was concerned and found as much information as I could. I have read articles where measurements of 3.1-3.4mm, 94 percent of babies were born healthy and normal. Also, are you sure that the umbilical cord wasn't around the babies neck when they did the first scan? I was worried but my doctor said that this is a new test and it can cause needless anxiety and the most common scenario is that the baby is born healthy and normal. She said to think of it this way "people with red hair are statistically more likely to get skin cancer but that doesn't mean that everyone with red hair will get skin cancer. There are lots of other people with black, brown and blonde hair that get skin cancer too." I found this analogy to be reassuring.

Not sure if that helps at all?

GracieGirl · 23/03/2010 09:29

Just heard from Monkey - "Scan ok, baby moving loads, but slightly above normal nuchal measurement of 3.1 and Dr has us quite worried. Got to come back at 16 weeks for another scan."

She asked me to post this on here hoping someone would have some experience on this subject so they can calm her down!

Poor Monkey, its such a shame her happy scan has turned into another worry. Big hug xxx

MummyLovesSadie · 23/03/2010 07:18

Good morning, another quick one from me as still feeling poorly. I tried to get an appointment with my doctor yesterday but couldn't so will have to try again today. My cold has turned into a nasty chest infection which is affecting me badly because I have asthma.

Good luck for scans today 4ever & Monkey. My 12 week scan is next Tuesday.

There is no news from Neeko, checked my phone this morning & naughtybabyNeeko is definitely not rushing to show an appearance.

Cupcake good luck with the move. Yes 2 & 3 year olds DO have tantrums but don't worry it is a slow transition that turns your little angel into a little monster so you have time to adjust to the shock! Btw if your dh starts saying that NCT mantra when you are in labour you are more likely to kick him in the goolies rather than laugh!

PFJ I found the only way to deal with dh after my mc's was to not talk to him at all about them but to talk to the lovely ladies on this thread. Any reaction he ever gave me would always disappoint so I gave up trying. I think if he ever got wind of how badly affected I was by the mc's then he wouldn't have wanted to ttc at all.

Waves to everyone today, I hope to be posting properly again soon.

cupcakefairy · 22/03/2010 22:08

Hello girls! Wow it's just taken me ages to catch up!
Weekend was lovely thanks but was a bit seeing our friends yesterday... our goddaughter was an absolute delight and got some gorgeous pics of her cuddling up to dh...but her 3yo brother was throwing massive strops and tantrums...dh and I were a bit that that is the reality of kids...what have we let ourselves in for

Antenatal was fab today and I'm really sad it's over already! Met some lovely people... we will all be keeping in touch though. The labour rehearsal was quite weird, she played white noise to signify contractions & the ones towards the end went on for aaages...eek I am a bit scared! DH and I kept giggling though cos she was saying stuff like 'draw strength from women past' hahaha! I told dh he can say that in the labour room to make me laugh

4ever in answer to your question, NCT has been great...they are a bit militant about breastfeeding and unmedicated labours but you can take or leave that stuff. A fewcouples there had been to NHS ones too and said NCT had been a lot better (I guess you do pay for it so you'd hope it would be good!) Here's my hand for your scan tomorrow lovely.
Btw I'm 32 weeks on Weds.

Barbie lol at the poo story and I agree you sound like you're doing amazingly well Your poor MIL with her eye getting worse, how horrible. That's lovely she'll get to meet D before it's removed though.

PFJ hope things improve with dh. If it helps, my due date is May and it's coming up WAY too fast for my liking, and everyone keeps saying 'oooh not long!' so it really isn't far away Iggy is totally right that on the other side the wait doesn't feel long at all. It was hell waiting 5 months for my BFP but now I can't believe how fast everything has happened & my mc was only a year ago.

Is Neeko in labour?? She is suspiciously quiet! I reckon we'll have a new cyber nephew soon

Blue I think mine's a boy too! DH keeps calling it 'he' too...we'll see!

Iggy ooh exciting about the house going on the market we move Saturday. The flat is a TIP right now and PFJ is right we're going through the boxes a lot quicker than we thought we would all feels a bit overwhelming at the moment but looking forward to just getting it all in the new place.

Vjay soooo sad about the fish hope your pain improves too, sounds horrible! Love the new pic too!

monkey if you're lurking here's my other hand for your scan. Sure everything will be just fine and you and MLS will be in those big pants in no time

My friend is out of hospital now by the way and seems to be doing well. Hospital are being v vague with her about what happened but she thinks placenta wasn't fully delivered to start with

bluesatinsash · 22/03/2010 21:29

Hey everyone, bags the beanbag in the corner . Thanks Vjay for starting what must be our, what, 15th thread since we moved to conception? Feeling a little blue on your behalf re: Ajay self weanng but you have done so brilliantly feeding him for six months, with DS1 and your DH, house and studying to do too. I would so try and record Ajay feeding as it will be something you will look back so fondly on. I keep remembering and forgeting to snap/record B feeding from me but reading your post has spurred me on. I have some photos of DS1 on the boob and showed them to him to prepare him for DS2 . Loving your mini egg photo x

4ever - lovely name and so so apt. Will be thinking about you tomorrow as always x

ThePFJ - yes waiting is torture. Us women just want to roll up our sleeves and get back into the job in hand but May will be here before you know it and you can spend the intervening weeks getting pearls of wisdom from all of us - ahem.

monkey - big hand hold for tomorrow x

Sabs - discussion of the day no less - check you .

lionstari'vebeenpublishedyouknow great to hear from you and reassuring to read that your DS is still up feeding during the night. B was only up at 1.30am and 4.30am last night.

Gracie - gold star to you for coping without your DH. I would have decamped to my Mum's too! Mine practically lives with me at the moment which I love as she's the best .

barbie - has Devon got her own passport then? how did your night out go?

mrskate - he is yours to keep .

iggy -oooh how exciting house hunting! We've decided to convert our garage this summer into a dining room as our dr is now the boys toy room. Really looking forward to being able to have friends round for dinner and be all grown up and talk about articles I've read in The Guardian - or more probably which sleb is shagging who!

Last but not least....

....neeko - get busy missy!!!!! I have you for TOMORROW don't let me down now . Yes DS1 did have shorts on but they were more short trousers or long shorts than beach shorts and he had them on with socks and his kicker boots but there was definate bare legedness in there .

GracieGirl · 22/03/2010 20:35

Evening Moon and FamousLionStar.

PFJ - I'm not strong at all, I was just carried through it very well by a bunch of loonies with minieggs on a mumsnet thread!

Just had a text from MonkeyBumsMum she says to say hi to everyone, she's having major weebles and is terrified about her 12 week scan which is tomorrow. She says to wish Neeko lots of luck with her birth.

BlueMoon1981 · 22/03/2010 20:14

pfj he cant help being a GIANT ASSHOLE but like the other girls have said, thats why we are here to help each other cuz we all know how hard it is and how it takes time (and mini eggs), so feel free to vent as much as you like, we all do

BlueMoon1981 · 22/03/2010 20:11
Lionstar · 22/03/2010 20:05

PFJ you are not the only one . I am a 'righty', though I didn't loose it to an ectopic, mine somehow became twisted and an infection started and I had it removed by emergency surgery. I was hours from certain death if it had burst (it was the size of an orange when they removed it ). As you can see it has not affected my ability to conceive - I fell with DD on the first month of trying, my lost LO with 3 months and DS 3 months after the MMC).

I have a close friend who had an ectopic just over a year ago, she is expecting her first child next month

You will be fine, just let yourself recover. Don't rush into it, your body is amazing resilient. And I'll echo what the other girls are saying about men not being able to cope with the whole thing very well. They just don't have that emotional and physical link to make it all seem real to them. Whereas we really live that loss in such a frank and real way. What often happens too is they become not only reluctant to talk about the event, they also can pull back from TTC in order to protect you from further hurt. It is just their way.

ThePFJ · 22/03/2010 20:03

Wow Bluemoon. I guess you are so right. I should try to give my DH a break, even if he is being a GIANT ASSHOLE.

BlueMoon1981 · 22/03/2010 19:57

pfj just to share my experience of rubbish other halves with you...

mine was very good with my 1st mc, but it happened naturally so i think in a way he found that easier to deal with as there was no intervention and he was more keen than me to ttc again. however with my 2nd mc i had medical management, bled a lot, got rushed into hospital in the early hours, heard me screaming in pain as they pulled 'bits' out of me saw me with tubes in me and generally just looking crap and pale and out of it. i sent him home while i was in hospital cuz i knew he didnt want to stay and see me in pain. afterwards the 1st thing he said to me was 'you should go back on the pill' and when i refused he said well then we wait 3 months, which absolutely killed me and i cried every day til we started ttc-ing again. he was useless to me, not his fault, but he couldnt do anything to help me, which is why i think men generally close up cuz they feel powerless to help and be the big macho man and make everything ok again.

hi to everyone else

ThePFJ · 22/03/2010 19:43

wow Graciegirl, sounds like you went through alot. You sound very strong.

So. It's time I popped the big question...

Is there anyone else here with one fallopian tube??
On the last thread someone lovely referred to me as a 'lefty' since I lost my right tube. So I assume there is one gal here with just the one. Gods forgive me please if I can't remember who....

GracieGirl · 22/03/2010 19:18

Hello! Sorry I went AWOL, was far to tired to type!! Isabelle has made up for sleeping for 6 hours that one time by feeding every 1-2 hours since Thursday (DH on nights so I was completely on my own), in the end I rang Mum up and told her I was moving in for the weekend as I couldn't take it anymore! So at least I got food cooked and Isabelle entertained during the day. I'm also quite pleased that Mum and Dad didn't get woken up by Isabelle crying at night, as I didn't want to make them tired too.

My good news is that my brother got engaged on saturday! I'm really pleased for him and his DP.

I took Isabelle to be weighed today - 10lb 2oz - wow! I must be doing something right! No wonder I look so hagged!!

The 6 week check turned out to be a waste of time, some mix up with the appointment slot so Isabelle's check is now in 2 weeks and the GP just checked me, well asked me if I was depressed and whether I knew about the risks of pregnancy, not really worth getting up at 6am so get me and Isabelle to an 8am appointment!

PFJ - I agree, men are rubbish at these things. My husband worked away for the week I had my miscarriage, he came to the scan, found the baby was dead, then went away for most of the week. My Mum came to hospital with me for my operation and it took quite a while before I stopped resenting my DH for not being with me. Equally he wasn't interested in TTC again for 3 months nor interested in talking about my new pregnancy until I got to nearly 20 weeks. Its just his way of dealing with things. That's why we have this thread! My DH has been brilliant since 20 weeks, for the birth and ever since.

Neeko - isn't it about time you had a baby!!

MrsKate I'm really pleased Jack is feeding more enthusiastically now.

Lionstar · 22/03/2010 19:05

Just marking my place on the thread. And my place on the sweepstake (not that I remotely think Neeko will make fools of us!):

The Neeko Sweepstake

4ever says 19/03 (my mums birthday)
cupcake says 20/03
Gracie says 21/03
VJay says 22/03
blue says 23/03 (making him/her exactly 3 months younger than B!)
barbie/mermaid say 24/03
Iggy says 25/03
sabs says 26/03 (my brother's birthday!)
ThePFJ says 27/03
MLS says 28/03
bakingqueen says 29/03
Lionstar says 01/04

And VJay seriously you have to get your video camera going, it's SO lovely to look back at them and how they change so quickly

VJay · 22/03/2010 17:53

Talking of neeko where are you??????

OP posts:
ThePFJ · 22/03/2010 17:51

Vjay find out how to use it!!! It only takes 15 mins of your time and you'll be so pleased to have those early videos!!!!! I promise!

I am off to try and cook. Ahar harhar.

Hugs and mini eggs to all.

Neeko don't pop until my sweepstake day is here!

VJay · 22/03/2010 17:42

PfjI bought a camcorder at Christmas and have tried to use it but I haven't had time to find out how it works properly . As for the waiting I do feel for you, looking back now it seems like no time at all, but when you're in the thick of it you just want things to happen now!!! You can reason with yourself all you like but it's still hard. This place helped me to cope

OP posts:
ThePFJ · 22/03/2010 17:23

Vjay - that sounds quite normal to me, my little Jack was the same. 6 months + was when I first tried my little Jack on some starter baby foods like rice puddings and things. He loved them right from the beginning and never looked back. I still give him baby/toddler milks as well to make sure he is 'getting enough' though. I know he is 2 this april, so we are almost ready to move away from milk supplements altogether.....

The last thing you want is teething to happen and to still have a baby addicted to boob. Well in my book anyways.

I know how you feel though... It's a shame they grow up so fast. If you have a camcorder use it as much as you can while baby is still ickle. I love looking back on home movies of my LO. I wish I had more of them!

VJay · 22/03/2010 17:14

Ooooh sabs I was reading through that thread earlier, didn't realise it was you

pfj I would love some of your mini egg suprise please

Hi mrskate glad Jack is feeding better, bless him on needing to fatten up

I've started to give Ajay some formula now, mainly at bedtime, he has started to turn away from me during the day, so I'm worried he's not getting enough milk now, I'm a bit sad about it but knew it would happen sometime. He's had a good 6 months of boob. Do you think this could be him self weaning? He still guzzles during the night, just not in the day. I'm a bit about the whole thing!

OP posts:
MrsKate · 22/03/2010 16:59

hi girls made it over to new home.

went to register jacks birth today very sureal . still cant believe he is mine .

feeding is getting better hes having a feeding frenzy the last few days every 2 hours . im glad in a way . he needs to fatten up lol

ThePFJ · 22/03/2010 16:47

Well done Sabs. Seems I am in excellent company here on this thread.

4ever - an entire wholesalers box of mini-eggs?!!!! JOY!

Can I eat them NOW? I just got some meat out for dinner... but but but maybe if I put it back in the freezer I could make mini-egg surprise?!?

sabs1981 · 22/03/2010 16:34

My thread about Sam Cameron being pregnant was made the top of discussions of the day I only found out as I was watching Sky News at the time the news broke!

and this thread is again in the "most active" section!

sabs1981 · 22/03/2010 16:29

Just a quick post (while Saara hangs off me!) to say hello and to make myself comfy in our new home

pfj I also was told to wait 3 months before ttc after my mmc. I had medical management and they told me thats how long it would take to get the medication completely out of my system. It also took 3 months for my periods fall into my normal 28 day cycle. The waiting was the absolute worst for me and I spent a lot of it crying and putting on weight (I went up a dress size - I still havent lost that weight )I also got very as googling after my mmc told me that I didnt need to wait that long but my DH was adamant in listening to the doctors advice. I used to constantly beg him to ignore the advice. But DH even now says he was glad we waited as I wasnt ready mentally. I then ended up getting pregnant with Saara whilst on holiday in India.

Also I have to add that I think I would've had really serious problems if I didnt have these lovely ladies to talk to in helping me get through those dark, bleak times - so you're in the right place

Sorry the post turned out longer than expected but what I'm trying to say is I know how you're feeling and whether you decide to ttc now or later, you time WILL come

Hi iggy baking barbie vjay (loving the new pic ) lbm and 4ever (lurve the name! )

I know ive missed loads out but Saara's trying to type with me - will be back soon
