Aw dear Monkey of course this is all gonna keep hittin u in massive waves, losing our 3rd babe at 13wks was traumatic enough without actually having to endure birth & meeting ur tiny angel, then the op on top, as well as still grieving so freshly for ur dear mum... To be able to even function at all is nothing short of a miracle & was in no way suggesting ur 'healed' but as i said, slowly slowly, small steps each day. I totally remember (& still do sometimes) have to 'act normal' & it feels so false, but eventually it helps to remember what 'normal' is meant to feel like, if only for a few mins each day at the beginning, if that makes sense at all? I also remember that to if people said i was brave, for a few seconds, id think 'yea i bloody am arent i? Im glad u acknowledge that!' Im glad u have counselling booked hon... Iggy thank u sweetheart, all advice very gratefully recieved! I did mean diet sugar free yoghurts! The dietician recommended them as a sugar free dessert, i dont even like them normally tho but just want something i can call dessert! Ill be doin lots of label reading 2moro.. So wierd as iv always been one of those annoying skinny types that eat what they want! Im very impressed with ur knowledge & qualifications tho hon! Well done u mrs brains! Also to 27wks! OMG! Where has the time gone? Im so glad its goin quick for you too! X

iggypiggy · 22/04/2010 15:51

monkey it is totally understandable that you would feel like that. I hope the counselling session is good next week. sending you virtual love and thoughts. x

4ever Am 27 weeks now - and it does seem to be going fast! Glad you getting low readings - that must be good. Many apologies if this is interfereing/ unwanted info, but i would stay away from the low fat yoghurts - they usually have lots of sugar in them to make up for the lack of fat - and from what i understand you need low sugar/ low GI food to control blood sugar? Sorry if that is unwanted advice - thought thought I would say! I always like the full fat plain yoghurts better anyway...

My undergrad uni degree is in animal physiology (postgrad one is neuroscience - don't ask!) - so am drawing on fairly old knowledge - am sure you have read all the stuff and know lots. Really hope you can start to enjoy the last bit of the preganacy x

monkeybumsmum · 22/04/2010 15:25

Just a quick one to say hi and good luck for tomorrow 4ever I hope they put your mind at rest a little. Will you manage to text an update to someone - your plan afterwards sounds lovely. Good luck also to your lovely dh with all the putting together of things. It's a very exciting time.
PS I wasn't going to say anything but feel a fraud - am not doing magnificently at all, in fact think I'm not doing very well. Don't know if I can cope with this really. I think I've just been numb and gradually it's dawning on me what's happened and I feel so much pain it's untrue. I can't believe we got to nearly 15 weeks and then lost the baby. Have got counselling appt next week at hospital though so hope that'll help. I feel like we may as well buy shares in the car park too - we seem to spend so much time there.

Mermaid Still thinking of you and sending you another big hug xxx

MLS Am glad things went well at the scan x

4everhopeful · 22/04/2010 14:20

OOh x post Cupcake, sorry to hear you are worrying about leg length, Im sure its nothing to be concerned about or they would of said.. You really dont have long now, 3and a half/4weeks isnt it? You never know, could even be sooner! Im sure none of us will rest til our babies are actually in our arms.. Enjoy your soak and go & put your feet up in the garden with a gossip mag or a good book, and switch off! Thats my plan, beans on toast, then retire to the garden to do exactly that, DH blitzed it yesterday and its gorgeous out there, mowed lawn, manicured flower beds, I pruned the roses and watched from the swingchair! Im not gettin out my PJs til DH is home from work and then I'll dissapear for my soak in the bath while he attempts the baby furniture DIY!

4everhopeful · 22/04/2010 14:10

Lovely Mermaid know we have been in contact but just saying again how and I am for that this is happening again for you, I am holding on for that miracle, you are so lovely and so deserve things to work out, not this ongoing nightmare...

Louey you sound very strong and brave and Im in awe at your ability to post lovely thoughtful messages to everyone straight after an ERPC! I hope you have a lovely break away in Cornwall and rest lots and hope you get spoilt rotten on your birthday on Tuesday!

MLS Im really pleased all went well for you yesterday, the nuchal fold only eing 1.3mm is really so tiny (our 3rd was 6mm!) and its prob just age that has given those odds as Im sure your consultants have told you! Sorry you had a long wait but that is a great hospital! Ive been very lucky where I live! Wow you are 15wks already! Nearly half way hon!

Neeko hope H is letting you get a bit more sleep occasionally, and now the sun is shining you can really enjoy mat leave and bonding time!

Monkey Im also impressed and in awe at your recent posts, you sound like you are doing magnificently and are so strong, even thought Im sure you've not felt it at times... Slowly slowly, when do you get away with your lovely Dad for that much needed respite and R and R?

Jools good to see you briefly poking your head in lovely lady! When so you go to the US? So glad the planes are flying again cos know how much you are looking forward to your girly trip!

Vjay lovely supermum - what did we nickname you? Mrs Fantastic from the Fantastic 4 with the long arms? Remember that OK?! My heart melted at DS1 under the chair, it must be so hard for you sometimes, but you are amazing and your lovely boys know that...

My very lovely and incredibly thoughtful pregnant buddy Cupcake! Its really not long now at all is it? Hows the nursery and nesting going? Are you feeling settled now? Bet you are so relieved to be on mat leave? I am, if only I wasnt practiclly living at the hospital! We got our cot/wardrobe/drawers and changer delivered this morning so DH will be on DIY duty later, and we can finally put all the clothes away instead of hanging off every handle in the room!

LBM you have been quiet lovely? We are all on countdown now! Are your bags packed? Nursey ready? Come and share?!? Wonder f we will make it a triple whammy?!

Blue how you doing my lovely? Fellow Glee watcher! Know its complete parmesan flavoured cheese but just the ticket for saturday/sunday morning telly (thanks also to sky +!) whilst eating a full brekkie with DH!

Iggy your pregnancy seems to be sailing by! Im sure not for you though! How many weeks are you now? I have lost track completely!

Gracie I am missing recent poo and IL stories! Hope all is going well?

Nice to see Mrskate pop in too!

Talking of poo stories, you have been quiet too Barbie! So awful about your PC, we have been talking of getting a hard drive to back up our ton of photos and may add that to our shopping list for tomorrow actually!

Moon we need to get back on the case with wedding plans my sweet! We had a turquoisey/baby blue theme too (to match my engagement ring, my dads fave colour!) so I have a ton of ideas for your table decs! Have you got a date yet?

PFJ you have been quiet too, hope your OK?

I know Ive still missed a few of you, big waves to Sabs and all other yummy mummys, big & medium panters and the small pant crew! Preg brain has really kicked in massively for me now!

Im still pricking my finger 3 times a day til tuesday when we see diabetic midwife again (the nice one!) my fingers are a bit sore now! Readings seem fairly low, with the occasional high one, Im just rolling with it and hoping for the best.. Am crapping myself a bit worried about this heart scan for baby tomorrow at 9.30am, its with the Fetal meds specialist.. I spose being at St Georges which is a specialist unit and training hospital is both good and bad, in that they are incredibly thorough, and probaly go the extra mile, which is obviusly good, but also causes extra worry which I am just praying will turn out to be needless and unfounded tomorrow! Im having the odd panic they will just keep me there! DH had so much time off already he is using hol so we are shopping afterwards, gonna grab a few of the very last bits we dont yet have for baby (not much!) and get a nice healthy food shop with no choc or munch and diet yoghuts and the sugar free cereal and suchlike! No for me! May as well get shares in the hosp car park, scan tomorrow, ante natal class monday, diabetic midwife on tues, and on thurs we see consultant (who will hopefully give us a nice broad overview of recent weeks shenannigans and stresses, and discuss induction etc ) then after we see him we see a midwife to do the birthplan! I thought Id spend my mat leave pottering round the house, nesting and preparing, with the odd bit of sunbathing instead Im a permanent visitor at the hospital!

cupcakefairy · 22/04/2010 13:33

Hi girls,

Vjay glad you and ds1 hugged it out and fab that he was trying out the tae kwondo moves

MLS great news from your scan too.
I am a bit scared by the leg length thing though as at my scan on Tues the femur length is measuring just over a week behind everything else...sonographer didn't point it out as something to be worried about but now I have time to google to myself I am really freaked out by it Did they say that is a common sign?

Right, think I am going to have a bath.

iggypiggy · 22/04/2010 09:54

mermaid so sorry that you didn't get good news at the scan. I, like everyone else, will be crossing everything that is was just too early x

louey am glad yesterday is over with for you. Look after yourself and eat chocolate. x

mls that's great news!

xxx

bluesatinsash · 22/04/2010 09:36

Brilliant news mls

I'm so sorry mermaid. I'll pray for that miracle for you- I just wish that for once, life could be a bit kinder to you. I know you are wonderfully brave, and also thankful for a lovely dh and ds, but it just isn't fair. Massive hugs missus xxx

barbie, it's almost always possible to recover lost files including images. Take it to an IT expert

lots of love and big hugs to everyone xxx

That's great news MLS.

BlueMoon1981 · 21/04/2010 21:33

mls looking good

MummyLovesSadie · 21/04/2010 21:24

Hello all, sorry to keep you in suspenders. Was waiting for three bloody hours to be seen then didn't get home until 5.30.... then had to wait to nap dh's laptop. Thanks for all of your good luck vibes, they made me feel loads better

The scan looks good, all measuring well (exceptionally long legs) & no soft markers. All finger joints are present (apparently 75% of downs babies have a finger joint missing) & nasal bone present. She did say however that there is a limitation to what they can tell at 15 weeks so I'm booked in to go back at the end of next month for another scan.

Mermaid it's shit that you have to go through this waiting game. I'm hoping & praying that things look better for you in two weeks. It's not fair & you shouldn't be going through this again.

Vjay have a hug from me. Bless your ds, how about showing him some taekwando on youtube to get him interested?

Blue I know what you mean about putting them back in babygro's & cuddling them.

Moon great link, I'll be signing up tomorrow when I get my laptop back.

Louey Glad your op is all done & dusted. I always say once you have dc's you never actually get a holiday, just a change of scenery!

Barbie I have an external hard drive, will have to work out how to back up my pics onto it as you've scared the bejesus out of me.

Big waves to everyone else, off to bed now, I'll be back tomorrow.

VJay · 21/04/2010 20:40

That's why I'm studying, i'm waiting to see how mls is, plus dh is out. Thanks for the vino mermaid, think I will really go and pour one, got a bottle of red open somewhere. You are pretty sure of your dates aren't you, i suppose you can only wait and see, but that's bloody hard to do. I probably would try and get another scan next week if nothing id happening, just to stop you going stir crazy wondering.

mermaidspurse · 21/04/2010 20:33

vjay bless your ds huddled under a chair think I would have joined him today. It's a great sign he came home and tried some moves out though, maybe it will simmer. Glass of jools wine for you tonight.
jools incidentally I have been holding my breath fro your holiday and it is looking good

re the dates I am certain I am right 5th march. I have seen others on threads today with scans at 6+1 with heart beats and I am meant to be 6+5.

Other than tying dhs willy in a complicated macrame pattern I will just have to sit it out I guess and see what my poor bod decides to do.

how is mls anyone heard?

VJay · 21/04/2010 20:32

I am studying

OP posts:
bluesatinsash · 21/04/2010 20:30

He did. DH takes him, its their big 'Daddy/son' bonding session and they come home via bakers with rolls and cakes for our Sat brunch. DH says he can be a bit intimidated by the bigger (aged 4 rather than 3) boys so think he was jus nervous but it breaks your heart seeing them like that, just wanted to put him in a babygrow and cuddle him .

Glad you and your DS1 have hugged

Now, down to studying missy!

VJay · 21/04/2010 20:22

Awww blue your poor ds1, did get back into it in the end? I have had a big cuddle with ds1, and have said if he wants to try again in the future he can, but he doesn't have to.

I'm supposed to be stuyding at the mo, but have just been reading the scary stories in the 'discussion of the day', and am now all scared!

OP posts:
bluesatinsash · 21/04/2010 20:11

mermaid - I logged on praying that when the page came up there wouldn't be any faces....

WE can only hope and pray your dates are wrong and keep you busy waiting for the 5th. Pass me a glass of that Rose would you (thanks Jools). Vjay - you tried that's all you can hope for and your DS1 must have liked it a little bit if he was doing it at home. Hope you have had your cuddle. FWIW we had mini meltdown on Sat as DS1 footie class started back and he didn't want to go, faining a sore knee/finger and it was just nerves as it had been off for Easter hols. He can be very unsure of things to begin with too.

Moon thanks for link - interesting reading - I'm sure Sabs will be interested she likes a wee bargain back and forward .

MLS - really hope everything OK today.

Cupcake - great to hear you had a good scan and your DH comment was just lovely

Louey - hope you're resting and finding closure at last. Enjoy cornwall, have some fudge on me

VJay · 21/04/2010 20:04

louey you derserve your holiday so much and I hope you do manage to relax, and have a fab birthday too

loueytbg · 21/04/2010 20:01

Crappity crap mermaid, was really hoping it was going to be your time. Lets hope it was late ovulation, a few days can make a massive difference to what you seen on the scan at this stage. Lots of hand-holding for you for the next 2 weeks.

Vjay hugs to you. I'm sorry the taekwondo was so stressful for you all. Will DS1 go back and try again? It must be hard for him to try something new like that.

gracie I thought mls scan was next Wednesday, but I may have read it wrong?

mls at DD. Am dreading those kind of conversations, DS2 has a voice like a foghorn....

moon link works, clever girl. But mine are now 3 so can't take part. Boo. I'm sure someone else will find it useful though.

cupcake enjoy your dinner out. So glad the scan was reassuring.

4ever how are you feeling today? You are very near the end of the journey, you just might meet your baby earlier than you had thought. Trust me, having had 2 babies which were very little and needed special care, being a little on the large side is much the best thing and TBH the scans aren't great predictors in end. It will all be fine. Only a few weeks to go.

barbie so sorry you lost some pics. Its rubbish isn't it and you can't remember to do everything when you have a small baby to look after.

blue my isaac doesn't have the history behind his name that yours does - it was about the only name we could agree on.

Waves to jools, monkey, mrskate and anyone else I've probably missed

Thank you all for your hugs. Am at home and ok, feel a bit shaky but otherwise ok. They say they got it all out this time. I'm looking forward to our holiday although I don't think it will be very relaxing. DTs will be sleeping in the same bedroom as us and can practically reach our bed from their cots. I'm anticipating early wake-ups for us all. Its my birthday on Tuesday though and we are going out for dinner and ILs are babysitting. Am looking forward to that.
