iggypiggy · 04/05/2010 16:56

4ever I think living in the present is a very good thing! Sorry you finding stuff so painful - but so exciting at how close you are to meeting her!

MLS thank you - that v. much cheered me up - I have been so happy and positive (well - since the terror early on!) that it surprised me that I was thinking like this. Hope your DD enjoyed pre-school!

cupcake am glad is not just me then! I know I should be feeling happy - and really I am - but I have been having massive self doubts... and then i feel all guilty..

re: stretch marks - I have been using the palmers cocoa butter stuff... who knows if it will work!

cupcakefairy · 04/05/2010 16:30

new thread!

barbie1 · 04/05/2010 16:28

too tired to post today but wanted to say hi and a good luck for mermaid for tomorrow in case i miss her....please dont leave me behind, post a link to the new thread cos im sure when i wake tomorrow you would of moved in over night

Speak soon my lovelies xxx

cupcakefairy · 04/05/2010 16:23

Aww MLS stuff like that makes me cry too! Bless her. How cute of your dd though.
Thanks...I started using Mama Mio at 12 weeks and loved it but after 2 pots thought I'd better switch to slightly cheaper one so been using Derma Mum the last few weeks. Feel a bit that still got stretch marks but who knows if they would have been much worse without the creams...?
Will get the recipe out in a mo

iggy I feel/have felt exactly what you described. I spent from my BFP (day dh was made redundant) to about 30 weeks feeling constantly terrified about the future, how I would cope etc. Have felt much better last few weeks & quite excited to meet lo but still very anxious and I think it is natural. Huge hugs to you; I'll try to email when I have a minute as I can so relate!

4ever lo's movements are v painful for me at the moment too; they're just getting too big! I'm getting loads of cramps/muscular aches so not sure if it is relating to spd. I'm in desperate need of a wax too hope you enjoy your pampering Thurs!

MummyLovesSadie · 04/05/2010 15:42

Oh Iggy you will be a brilliant Mummy & your fears are perfectly normal. You will cope because we all do (even when we think we're not!) & as soon as you lay eyes on your baby you will instantly fall in love. You won't even want to let sleep get in the way of being able to gaze a your baby for hours on end!

Cupcake pecan pie? Recipe please! You should try something like Palmers stretch mark cream.

4ever glad you are finally relaxing & not having to make so many trips to the hospital every day. I've started to get a niggly lower back pain & I'm hoping it's not the start of things to come for the next 23 weeks.

Right got to go & collect dd from pre-school now. She was so sweet when we got there she followed all the other children & copied them when they took off their coats & hung them up & then she put her apple in the fruit basket with all the others, I could feel my heart melting! It was my friends dd's 3rd session there & she doesn't like it so far & was crying & screaming "Mummy don't leave me". It was so sad I burst into tears!

4everhopeful · 04/05/2010 15:31

Back for part 2! Was all sunny in Surrey as MLS said, woke up a couple of hours later and completely cloudy!

Hello Iggs totally natural feelings Im sure hon, I'm glad your scan was OK! Its strange, I said to DH yesterday, I've been so hung up on just delivering a healthy baby Ive barely allowed myself to dare to think of life as a mummy & whether or not we will cope! It hit me a bit yesterday, but still cant think too forward, just need her here safe and sound first!

Hello lovely Cupcake sounds like you are having the perfect mat leave so far! I am really struggling with tired uncomfortableness these last few days beyond belief, almost making me wonder if she is gonna come sooner, only time Im not aching is lying on my side.. Dont think poor thing is v happy either she must be so squashed cos her movements are now a bit painful for me.. Your spa break sounded gorgeous. I have booked my hair for thurs and we are picking up the pram from mams and papas after that, then voting, thats my lot for this week, but hoping I can make it for 2hrs in the hairdressers?! Am gonna take a pillow! Have (much needed) wax booked next thurs and also hoping I will last til then!

Vjay big belated hug and well done for recognising you may need some extra help, I personally think you are Mrs Fantastic as you know! It cant be easy with DS1 and you always sound very jolly and upbeat so dont beat yourself up sweetie.. Also bless your DH for booking the massage! Ahh!

Blue belated ahhhhhh to your gorgeous boys! Its taking me so long to catch up properly on here I feel like Im missing loads! Hows those greenfingers and healthy veg planting going?

Jools I think every single one of us on here immediatly thought of you when we saw about that car bomb in NYC! Glad you are home safe and sound and not caught up in it! Those choc martinis sounds gorgeous! I LOVE NY! Went several shopping trips in my twenties but not been for 5 yrs and miss it loads!

Barbie never failing with the stories! I have image of you with leggings round your shoulders! Am on next page so dont wanna lose post but cant wait to sneak a peak at D all grown! Hope the sleep deprivation and routine settling not taking you over too badly and glad you have a few new mums to share things with out there...

Neeko hope you are also not beating yourself up too badly about routines and suchlike, just sleep when you can! I do feel for you and the ton of marking, but once you get stuck in hopefully will soon pass, sometimes the worry about doing something is worse than actually doing it!

Sabs that cake sounded YUM!

QA as I said some wise wirds from you! I hope DH keeps his hats off for a while longer so you can sneakily get that BFP in!

Louey if I didnt say it already, glad you got some ttc in too and had a nice birthday hon!

Yes where has PFJ gone?

I know I missed some of you, big waves to Gracie and Mrskate too, as well as other busy yummy mummys, often thinking of Annie, Buddha, MM and the others!

Can any of the SPD sufferers enlighten me if it ended up as cramps towards the end? Its just sooooo painful now! Im sapped of all energy and honestly dont care about nesting or housework, am glad most of its all done and am now thinking sod it, will do rest when she is here cos even having a bath is takin every ounce of energy! So glad dont have to leave the house this week!

OH yea - new thread soon?! Who's gonna do the honours?!

iggypiggy · 04/05/2010 14:53

quick hello to all from me....

Feeling bit scared and worried about the future... guess that in spite of being so grateful to be PG, apparently you can still have doubts about whether you will cope/ be any good / bond ok / baby will be healthy / escape pnd etc etc etc...

sorry - wallowing a little bit today...

but on the up side - had another scan today and saw the baby and all was fine - measuring average for everything so far...

cupcakefairy · 04/05/2010 13:53

Hi all just been catching up. Storing away all your sleeping tips and will def be trying them out! So sorry to hear about struggles

Neeko you crazy super lady about to start marking exams hoping and praying H will be on her best behaviour for that!

Moon so sooo sorry to read of your news and about evil witch. So hope Curly is right about you being exactly one year behind her

MLS everyone thinks I'm having a boy! A lady at my parents' church who has 4 sons just gave us masses of clothes which I have washed today..loads of blue babygros & tshirts on my line, maybe it's a premonition

Curly LOVED the photos, your dd is beautiful.. and you are one yummy mummy in your gorgeous outfit post-baby love hearing you talk about curlygirl you just sound so grateful for every second. I understand wanting to re-do things already but don't focus on that; your girl is so loved and you're doing an amazing job.

Barbie you too!!

sabs how was the cake? my dh made the naughtiest ever pecan pie at weekend with unforgivable amounts of golden syrup in...I may just have a slice in a mo

Vjay lol to the massage! I'd be exactly the same! Speaking of bodies & wobbly bits in the last 2 weeks I have suddenly developed loads of stretch marks on my tummy- boo! Thought I'd got away with it but Titch isn't so titch anymore I think!

Monkey massive hugs to you on this bittersweet day. So hope you find some peace in that garden. Oh and I think Curly was referring to thread history with the 3 BFP remark! They always seem to have come in 3s in the past and it's definitely time it happened again!

Mermaid here's my hand for tomorrow. Hope you're being nicely distracted today by demolished walls or something.

LBM yay for maternity leave! Mine is slipping away though & haven't done half the things I planned

4ever so glad you had lovely weekend and to you not being able to put dd down when she arrives

Big waves to qa, louey, iggy, pfj, jools & whoever else is lurking around today I'm off to watch more Grey's as I finally have my mitts on season 2, yippee!

littlebellsmum · 04/05/2010 12:43

curly the light shows and mobiles are a great idea - mine loved them from a very young age and it was one of my first purchases for this one. Hope they help

4everhopeful · 04/05/2010 07:48

Morning ladies

Hope you all had sunny lovely long weekends!
Sorry to hear of the sleep deprivation and struggles some of you are having..

Have been on lockdown having lazy restful weekend, hardly got out of bed, been really achey and sore, strugglng quite alot and just on countdown now...

Will be back to do proper post to you all but will start now!

Morning MLS glad you had a nice break away and how lovley for you and Neeko to meet up! Bless the comment about accents!

Monkey so glad you had a good break too, must of been lovely to see DH,but what another heartbreaking day you have ahead of you, would be good if you could collect the star then see pyschiatrist cos will do you good to have someone to talk it out wth afterwards no doubt... Sending a massive hug.. I know it doesnt seem it now but one day soon you will get a ray of light that lasts a little longer and you will eventually start to slowly heal from this deep raw pain.. My heart aches for you... x

Moon so sorry to hear about your DF news and equally sorry to hear of AF arrival.. I echo Curly it took me 8/9 cycles to fall with this one and we are def due a fresh crop of BFPs.. Hold tight my lovely... Some wedding planning to distract you perhaps? You def need disposable cameras and these TABLE CONFETTI are adorable on a white tablecoth, with chairs with white covers and blue bows (we had the same!) and everythng was themed around that shimmering irridesecent baby blue! Im thinking thats the same as you wanted?!

Mermaid you have been so unbelievably brave my lovley! Your nearly there! I am so hopeful for your very promising sounding symptoms and am I right in thinking that you are a bit further along then you have been previously?! Its near on 8 weeks isnt it? Im praying hard for you hon...

LBM yay to mat leave! Thanks to you and other wise emmsy forgive preg brain, that suggested epidural! We did birth plan last thurs, and am open to anything, gonna try gas & air first but not gonna be a martyr, if Im in agaony Ill go for it. I know inductions can cause stronger more painful contractions. TBH Im not worried about the pain, honestly, I just want our girl here safely whatever it takes Anyway missy you make the most of the next few eeks, rest when you ca, when your DC are at school do NOTHING! (Apart from pack bag/prepare nursery ect!!!)

Curly your DD is GORGEOUS! Also, I LOVE the ceiling displays and we are waiting for DH work collection which will be mothercare vouchers before we buy one, its one of last things on list! Im loving reading all your invaluable tips and methods and will def try the shush pat thing! Obviously Im a complete novice and will no doubt run screaming to you all on a regular basis in the monthes to come, but I read the reason babies cry when you put them down is cos they go into REM (dream) sleep in mums arms, so when you put them down it disturbs them? Having said that I doubt I will ever be able to put her down when she's here. Was it QA that said about PND after MC? I hope its not the case but def understand the principle..

Right, my SPD is starting to paralyse me, back to bed, back later for part 2 of my mass overdue catch up to each one of you deserving lovelys!

MummyLovesSadie · 04/05/2010 07:06

Curly yes I definitely think they would work on young babies. Their eyes are focused enough to be able to see the pictures projected on the ceiling & they love the gentle tinkly music.

LBM yay for mat leave & the sun is shining for us Surrey folk today!

Monkey hugs.

CurlyBigPants · 04/05/2010 05:22

Missed you there lbm have a wonderful first day of mat leave

CurlyBigPants · 04/05/2010 05:20

MLS I'm definetely going to try one of the nightlight displays. Do you think they work on young babies? Hope dd has fun at preschool today and that you enjoy a well earned break

monkey I wish we could all come with you but we'll be holding your hand in spirit and I think that even heathens like me will be saying a little prayer today for you and your lost angel. I hope the session with the psychiatrist helps. Be as open as you can. I know it will be a tough day but I hope it helps to find you some peace. I must admit I also got excited to hear you might want to ttc again. When the time comes we'll be here with the pompoms to stalk cheer you on

mermaid one more sleep my lovely x

littlebellsmum · 03/05/2010 22:46

Evening ladies - just waiting for some bread to cook before I can go to bed. Also need to make dc's lunches for school tomorrow, just in case BabyBelle decides to make an early arrival!

monkey Thinking of you for tomorrow. Hope it brings you some peace. IT seems like a lovely idea and a lovely place for you to go and remember him

Mermaid Not sure if it's tomorrow or Wednesday that you going to the EPU - again thinking of you for that. It has to be good news

4ever Great news you have a date - just to echo Curlys point. If you are induced and end up on the drip, ask for an epidural at that point - you'll be having constant monitoring at that point anyway, so you may as well be comfortable with it. Theres also a good chance that you may get to the 25th as induction can take a few days.

Mat leave is great - day 1 is tomorrow, and I've not even got to do the school run! currently getting baby clothes and stuff down from the loft. Found we don't have all the bits for the cot . Also found out how many vests and sleepsuits I've inherited - loads!! What I don't understand is as my sil has so many clothes, why is their washer always on , my nieces must be in much cleaner clothes than my dcs!

Apologies for no more personals but it's late now - love to all and if the sun doesn't come back out soon, I'll be back on again tomorrow!

Misson iron increase is going well - thanks loeuy for the chickpeas tip - I love houmous and will make some tomorrow.

MummyLovesSadie · 03/05/2010 21:37

Monkey x post. Wishing you really good luck for tomorrow. Maybe when you collect the star you could say "I'm here to collect this" & have it written down on a piece of paper? I'm sure they are used to people crying in front of them & they will be very sensitive with you.

I have to admit to a little lurch of excitement in my tummy when you said you are wanting to get pregnant again.

MummyLovesSadie · 03/05/2010 21:29

Moon bugger bugger bugger. Please don't give up or lose hope, it will happen. I know it feels like it's taking ages but it WILL happen. All I can say is what helped me which was pre-seed, temping & opk's.

Curly I wholeheartedly second you on the putting your baby down while still awake. That was a big regret for me too but it's all too easy to get them to sleep first & then very carefully put them to bed. I'm definitely going to buy the baby whisperer this time as I tried the shushpat when dd was about 18 months & it seemed to work. I've just checked out the pics of curlygirl.......aaaaaaaaaaaah! She looks so happy.

Vjay very at your massage. If I could afford it I'd have one every week, along with a wash & blowdry, & a manicure, & a facial, & reflexology....

Sabs I really hope you made the cake as I've not had pineapple upside down cake in years, yum.

Neeko make one of your famous lists to help with the marking, e.g plan how many you intend to mark each night & what time you you want to start & finish. I'm sure the Monica in you would love that.

QA you have a very valid point with your theory, I think you are right. We have all strived so hard to get & stay pregnant & all we think about is that magical moment when we hold our baby & everything will be perfect. It never is perfect though as reality always kick you up the bum when you are so tired that you can't remember you own name & your baby won't stop crying & you are ready to tear your dh's head off his shoulders!

Barbie & all those with sleep resisting babies, maybe you could try something like this or this?

Right I have to go now as my battery is about to run out. It's my dd's first day of pre-school tomorrow afternoon, yippee!

monkeybumsmum · 03/05/2010 20:36

Hello, just a quick one from me - brain has gone walkabouts today so I'm not much use!

Moon I haven't read back I'm afraid, but saw from Curly's post above that AF has arrived. So sorry sweetheart... It's very disheartening isn't it.

Curly I love that you said we are due 3 more BFP's, was this a Barbie prediction or based on what happened last year? Either way, it'd be fab if it happened! I'm becoming more and more obsessed each day with wanting to be pg again but am trying to keep a lid on it. Maybe in a couple of months, but will be willing all other smallpanters on from the sidelines

I have appt with pyschiatrist tomorrow morning and then I have to go and collect the star for our little boys grave and take it along to the Star Garden. I feel sick about it, and can't figure out how I'm going to get out the words that I need to say Am terrified of losing it and having a meltdown.
On a brighter note, the couple of days away with my lovely daddy were great, although I did miss dh soooo much. It was wonderful to be able to stand on the beach with all that space and just breathe. DS enjoyed it too, but knackered me and dad out Little monkey...

Sorry for not posting more individual replies, but I am sending lots of love to you all. Will be back tomorrow xxx

CurlyBigPants · 03/05/2010 18:29

oops.... reality stepped in before I could finish my post

sabs I'm hoping you made upside down cake! ok, I'll email some photos

vj your massage sounds wonderful but lol at your lovely dh not considering the wobbly bits. I am the same and hate the idea of an all over massage, and I hate anyone touching the bottom of my feet for some reason

neeko I am already wanting to do it again just to be more confident of what I'm doing. If I could do one thing different it would be to put her down awake after feeding. I don't even remember if she would ever have accepted this

moon I'm so sorry about stupid evil witch arriving The thing is that you and I had our second MCs the same month one year out and this time almost exactly last year myself, gracie and barbie had our last CD1 before getting pregnant - this time with a happy ending. So I wonder if this is the month for you We are due three more bfps lovely. Big hugs hang in there honey xxx

qa still laughing at you berating the other small panters for abandoning you to all this babytalk so I'm sorry to do more of it but just a quick one to barbie then i will pull out my pompoms and get back to concentrating on getting bfps which is what we are all about

barbie its such a relief to know we are going through the same stuff and also the re-assurance from everyone else on here really helps. I feel so awful when I get frustrated with curlygirl but sometimes when I'm really tired I just despair and worry about myself. I was most worried that she wasn't taking proper naps during the day and mostly sleeping while snuggling on one of us or the other.

The babywhisperer stuff is really good but like any of these things I think you take the bits that suit you and ignore the rest. First step was to follow the basic routine approx every three - four hours of eat, play, sleep, i.e. feeding her, playing till I see the first yawn or sign of stroppiness, then swaddling her (dont worry about this bit if devon hates it), then I cut out all rocking, walking, dancing etc and just sit her on my lap or shoulder and just say shuuuuuusssssssssssh loudly and slowly over and over while patting the top of her back. She always kicks off but if you watch a clock, actually stops in less than a minute. Keep going through any occasional whimpers and mini-cries till she falls asleep (the babywhisperer book suggests that you put them down once they get relaxed before they sleep but I'm just not ready to face doing this every time yet ) so I continue to shush pat for five mins and then put her in her cot or somewhere else quiet.

Apparently the rocking and dancing overstimulates so even if they fall asleep they wont stay that way. The shush pat really works with curlygirl and I've been able to put her down for two hour naps a couple of times a day. If she wakes earlier then I use it to get her back to sleep, ideally by turning her on her side in her cot, but if she kicks off too much then I pick her up and snuggle with shushpat till asleep again. She is so much happier now and less fretful

Check www.babywhispererforums.com/index.php?board=41.0 for a link to the baby whisperer forum and site.

Next stage is to work on putting her down awake all the time...eek. She's not a big fan so I'm taking it slowly. When I have tried it i find that it helps to take her for a walk in the sling or doing baby massage and then putting her down.

Hope that helps as I know all babies are different xxx

Big hugs to brave mermaid just two more days to go my love xxx

And lovely monkey let us know how you are doing xxx

sabs sorry I missed your post earlier. How are you? Haven't heard of that DVD. Is it any good?

VJay · 03/05/2010 16:39

Big big hug moon, so sorry you are having such a crappy time at the moment {{{{{hug}}}}}

barbie loving the James Bond moves . As for everything not being as you planned, that is totally normal, when you have your second, that's if you want one, you will be ready and prepared. It was a MAHOOSIVE shock to the system when I had ds1, but this time, I knew roughly what to expect and it has been a lot easier in some ways. Remember, you are not alone

QA wise words there. I was actually quite suprised that my mc's didn't tip me over the edge, but I think my full focus on TTC kept me going.

Welcome home mls glad you had a good hol. It's just your SIL, my heating is on as and when I need it, and up in the HIghlands it can be a lot

I had my lovely massage today, it was fab , when I got there I asked if I could just have my back, neck and shoulders done, as DH had booked me in for a full body and I didn't fancy that, too many wobbly bits . The masseuse(sp?) laughed and said they get that all the time, lovely hubbies booking in there ladies for stuff, but getting in wrong. Bless them

Neeko · 03/05/2010 16:03

Oh Moon I'm sorry on both counts.Promise never to try to tempt you to test again as you clearly know your own body. Hope DF's relatives are ok. Huge hug.

BlueMoon1981 · 03/05/2010 15:41

thank you to everyone for your kind words re. dfs family, i guess just one day at a time, very though. i hate seeing him so sad when i cant do a thing to help.

and today is cd 1 for me that is why i never test early, i would drive myself even more mad. i dont think it will ever be my month.

sorry, i cant stop, but you are all always in my thoughts.

Neeko · 03/05/2010 13:48

Sabs cake wins everytime. Please save me a slice.

Barbie 10 mins?? You lucky thing you can get for a pee in that time and everything!
