not started one of these threads for a while but have moved on from my enforced ttc break and we shall give it another go. however, I have one rule.

NO TESTING BEFORE 14DPO, its for your own good!

Love this thread. I am a terrible early tester. Ridiculously and pointlessly early! I just feel so annoyed with myself when all commonsense is telling me to save your money but I just can't help yourself... Well this cycle the chances of being pregnant are virtually nil due to DH's work schedule meaning not much BD happened, practically none in fact. So the temptation is not as strong this time, but it still pops up from time to time because.... you just never know right, there is always a chance.... ha ha. CD37 for me, UCL about 38/39 though only 3rd cycle since AF returned after stopped breastfeeding so not 100% sure about that. Good luck on holding off the testing ladies, think of all the ££££ saved.

Hi non-testing MN's,
I also appreciated the clarification on POAS. On first month of TTC here and having come off the pill I really don't know when AF is due... so my question is.. why is it so important to wait until after AF is due before testing? Sorry if this is going back over some real basics.
P.S. Loving the encouragement not to test... I have renewed determination and one very pointless test on Saturday!

queenoftheslatterns · 21/03/2010 00:06

hi larag, welcome to nontesters. POAS means pee-on-a-stick, and tbh it depends. FMU (first wee of the day) is the recommended one because its undiluted and has a high concentration of hormone, however, if you dont drink too much during the day it doesnt really matter. and after period due day the hormone levels should be high enough to be detected at any time of the day. this is one reason its recommended that you wait to test.

While I'm here, I've read that the first pee when you wake up in the morning is not ideal for pregnancy testing, then also, I've read somewhere else it's the hormone rich ideal pee for best results. What do you lot think MNers?

LaRagazzaInglese · 20/03/2010 23:44

please don't bite my head off but what the heck does POAS mean?? i usually guess most of them but this one has lost me, it's not in the MN acronyms page either...

TIA

queenoftheslatterns · 20/03/2010 21:31

oh ttc unfortunately cp's are shockingly common (although it doesn't make them any less painful or upsetting) please, just rest, take a few ibuprofens and rest, rest, rest.

whole what are you going for on the sex front? We are going for every other day as of now. It worked when I got preg in Dec so hopefully it'll work again.

Wholelottalove · 17/03/2010 20:23

TTC - congratulations! Hope all goes well for you :O

Unbuffy - you know you can make it to next week. Take it from one who cracked and tested too soon, not worth it

Hey Lia - I''m at about same CD as you, so we can wait together

Lucy - glad DCs on mend, and hope got the Swine flu vac sort out.

Unbuffy · 17/03/2010 19:40

Nothing personal ttc - and congrats again x

liahgen66 · 17/03/2010 19:31

congrats ttc have been following your little mental torturethis week, am very pleased for you.

buffy you can do it, how many days to wait? I'm only on bloody cd7 so not even at crucial point yet, so hold that thought, you know how mental keen I am when it comes to testing.

Step away.

ttcbabyno3 · 17/03/2010 16:56

im not a very strong person im afraid, but good luck to you and hang on in there.

Unbuffy · 17/03/2010 13:17

Ere, ere, ere. I'm on this thread so people can encourage me NOT to test, and to back me up in NOT TESTING. No sabotaging this thread please! I need it!

ttcbabyno3 · 17/03/2010 12:03

i know its strange you just have to do one when you get the urge. and the days drag.

when are you officially due on?

Unbuffy · 17/03/2010 11:55

Congrats, ttc! All will be well!

Why are some days easy to be good, and other much harder? Wannawannawanna KNOW!

BUT. Have only 2 tests, Tesco not hypersensitive, and am s t o n y b r o k e.
Must therefore hold out...

Roll on next week...

ttcbabyno3 · 17/03/2010 09:38

ahhh thank you LUCYBARNES ha ha this will make you laugh no i cant wait till my scan lol i will book a reasurance one for 8 weeks when i get further along, maybe i should explain why i am abit of worrier lol

My first dc was an accident so by the time i found out i was nearly 3 months, then they thought he had downs etc so from then on ill was a nervous wreck, only to develop PND and was convinced it all was to good to be true, but my healthy 7 year old is perfect

2nd pregnancy i went in the labour room when she was delievery her son i was 16 weeks, poor little fella nearly died he was so poorly, so i was like omg so many things can happen. and i had a lot of problems with that pregnancy to Gestational diabetes but she is now 4 next week healthy but i had agaon PND after

now with this little bean i have been on mumsnet a while reading stories and seams everyone has had MC and i feel so sad from them so i do think why should i be so lucky, also my dad died not long so tha makes ne think bad things can happen and also in AD'S so scared that they could harm the baby.

Sorry for rambeling on, just wanted to give brief insiter to my madness lol

I am veryyyy happy but scared and i wish you all the luck Lucy really i do, i will be hanging around waiting for your BFP
