aw no that's a crappy month for both of you then really sorry to hear that. If it helps at all i have a cousin who took 6 years to conceive her first with no medical problems at all. I think it's just down to luck more than anything. Last time a poas was about a week and a half ago. So i'm going to buy myself a test on payday (wednesday) as a treat and if it's still negative and there's still no af i'll be off to the doctors. (by the way how sad is it that my treat for the month is a hpt?!) welcome fozza haha sounds like an expensive month! My cycles have been all over the place since coming off the pill, particularly this month apparently. Good luck lasting till the weekend! I know i'm struggling already

Fozza · 24/06/2010 22:44

Evening all - loving this thread, so thank you all. First time posting on Mumsnet (vs just listening in!) so apologies if I get it wrong.

Trying for No. 2, only my second month since coming off the pill and am now, well 10 days late and 5 expensive tests down. But feeling really sick and tender so was SO sure each one would be positive. Nope! I am rationing myself to wait to the end of the weekend.

Best of luck all of you.

Hey DiceGirl - AF got me I'm gutted. And DH has broken his collarbone so not sure how much SWI will be had this month. Now into 7th month TTC and starting to feel a wee bit worried.

Have you been to see doc about your lack of AF? When did you last poas?

My poas habit has shifted from pg tests (too depressing getting all the BFNs) to OPKs. Very addictive.

TheDiceGirl · 24/06/2010 17:20

I have not been on this thread for a while, sorry!! bicnod - still no AF and still no BFP, as of last week anyway. No clue what's going on! Any news your end?

lilllysa · 24/06/2010 14:47

To follow on from the "Cheapy" test posts . . why not check the local pound shops? Mine sells the exact same as you can buy online but £1 for a 2pack and obviosly no postage to pay

Plus I was testing pos a week before I tested pos with a first response

Dandeliondrama · 23/06/2010 21:57

Thanks superpenguin Would advise you to buy shares in those companies! Haha.

superpenguin · 23/06/2010 09:45

There are loads, just do a google search.

For example, this site has 5 for £1: (+ £1.99 delivery)
www.sme-fertility.co.uk/pregnancy-tests/ultra-early-pregnancy-tests.html

or here, 5 for £2.99 and free delivery (with this product only)
www.accessdiagnostic.co.uk/acatalog/Special_Offer_Ultra_Pregnancy_Test_Strips.html#a103

Dandeliondrama · 22/06/2010 20:53

Hi superpenguin thanks for that. Where on the internet can one get good cheapy pg tests? I've got one week until AF is due drums fingers on table I've neeeeeever been good at waiting!

superpenguin · 22/06/2010 17:04

Hello all,
I feel the need to add to this thread to encourage you all to NOT waste your money on tests!
and if you do want to test, remember you can buy pg tests on the internet for about 50p each, which are just as good!

With the expensive tests, all you are paying for is the brand name and packaging and all that plastic. all you really need is the little inner absorbent stick bit that the line appears (or not) on.

In case anyone is unsure how a pg test works, the material the stick is made of has a chemical inside it (across where the line would appear) which reacts with the pregancy hormone (if there is any there) to produce a pink colour giving you a line if it is positive. and nothing if negative.
The second line is the control line which is always further away from the bit you pee on. This turns pink when it absorbs the wee and is just so you know the test has worked - because the wee doesn't reach the control line until it has already gone past the test line, if that makes sense!
So one line = neg, 2 lines = pos.

You can get a false negative if you test too early - i.e. it might show up nothing even if you are pregnant, because in the early days there is not enough hormone in your wee to produce a reaction.

However you cannot get a false positive. if you get the 2 lines you are definitely pregnant!

Good luck to everyone TTC.

poasnutter · 19/06/2010 10:19

Oh and I just read the above again and feel the need to clarify that I tangoed with my hubby lol!!!!!

poasnutter · 19/06/2010 07:31

I'm so glad I've found this thread as I think I'm going insane...... my story, had DS at beginning of December and was induced early as I was diagnosed with obs. cholestasis but all was good! Ialso developed gall stones in pregnancy and NYE I had pancreatitus and was in A&E and admitted for a few days, I had to have my gall bladder removed and that was in Feb. Anyway prior to all this I was never ill and my AF's were regular as clockwork with a 28 day cycle. My last 3 AF's were March 10th, April 10th and then May 14th.... still hasn't appeared and had a tango lol on 6th June without protection.... Now, I'm telling you all this why?? I don't know but feels better to offload!!! I've been POAS in earnest since Tuesday and I must confess that I've done 13 tests since then OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! someone give me a slap please didn't realise how many till I just worked it out

Bicnod · 11/06/2010 15:15

So.... I'm on my 2WW and wondering what happened to DiceGirl and waka. Daisyj are you still around?

If I'm not bloody pg this month it certainly isn't for lack of trying... keeping all my fingers and toes crossed and trying not to think about the pg test sat in my bathroom cabinet.

TheDiceGirl · 27/05/2010 14:46

Ooh not long then well good luck! Fingers crossed for you. I don't think this is my month, I don't have a very good feeling about it. But then again I never do

wakarimasen · 25/05/2010 20:06

Hi Dicegirl - my cycles have varied since coming off the pill but I'm on day 18 of a 25 day (roughly) cycle so about a week to go......

TheDiceGirl · 25/05/2010 19:39

Aww no well never mind. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you for this month instead

If I'm not pregnant, I just wish AF would show her stupid face so that I can start afresh! This month has been too confusing.

wakarimasen - welcome along well the temperature is a good sign! How long till your AF would be due?

wakarimasen · 25/05/2010 18:54

Can I join in this group? I'm on second month of TTC and have been charting this month sex was timed perfectly and today my temp went up again so I am feeling hopeful so................

7DPO I was overcome by my own stupidity and did a test! BFN at least though there are no tests in the house anymore LOL

Bicnod · 25/05/2010 18:26

AF got me today

Ho hum - into cycle 6 of TTC and I'm bloody well away over my most fertile days in June.

TheDiceGirl - keeping fingers crossed for you x

TheDiceGirl · 25/05/2010 18:03

Nope nothing doing! No AF and no BFP! My cycle must be screwing with me i've been needing to pee a lot, i don't know if that's a promising thing? Meh who knows. If nothing at all happens by next week I will go to the doctors maybe.

Fingers crossed that it was implantation bicnod! let us know x

Bicnod · 24/05/2010 20:59

pinkie when is your AF due?

I haven't got AF pains this month which is making me hope hope hope that the browny-pink spotting was implantation rather than AF on the way.

Wishful thinking I'm sure AF will start tonight

pinkie08 · 24/05/2010 20:42

Hi all Can i join in. Hate the delayed days that make you think "if i just get to Monday then will test" and what happens Sunday night pink staining.AHHHHH painful.

Thought i gotg the right days this month but obviously not as sitting here with AF pains.

Bicnod · 24/05/2010 18:50

DiceGirl - any news?

AF due on Thursday but had very slight browny-pink spotting today.

arrrrrrrrrrrrrggggggggggggggghhhhh I hate the 2ww.

TheDiceGirl · 22/05/2010 02:15

thanks bicnod! Just keep SWI and hope for the best ;) i don't know if it's very likely but you never know! Daisyj - sorry about your AF arriving hoping it won't be long till your bfp though! Nope no AF for me yet :S x

daisyj · 21/05/2010 19:27

Not likely, no, but don't do what I did and miss the signs. I had ewcm around day 22 this month, convinced myself I was imagining it, and missed my chance! AF turned up yesterday (CD35), so either I'm still a bit up the creek after my cp or my cycle has changed. Sounds like you've done a pretty good job for this month, though . Only one week to wait now. Will be checking back soon...

DiceGirl - Did AF turn up yet?

Bicnod · 20/05/2010 08:28

Still keeping fingers crossed for your daisy and DiceGirl

I wish I knew for sure if I had ovulated - we've been SWIing like mad (every other day whether we feel like it or not ) and now DH is going away on a stag do - I'm assuming that from one week before AF is due I'm not that likely to be ovulating?

TheDiceGirl · 18/05/2010 21:43

daisyj - so sorry, my internet screws up at the worst possible times! I tested on saturday, BFN but I still haven't had any sign of AF either. See how the next few days go I guess!

Bicnod - good luck! sends baby dust
