Hello all...

My partner and I are trying for a baby and in our first month of trying. AF is due on Sat, fingers crossed i don't get to see it.

But i cant help but think this is going to be a difficult ride....I have never thought the prospect of having children ever be a difficult one but now i have started trying, I am now wondering if i am going to find it hard to conceive.

Am i the only one who thinks this? Or am i not the only paranoid being on Mumsnet??

lucybarnes Hope they don't get their swine flu jabs if they're not feeling 100% I had a friend who got it as she was recovering from a chest infection and it didn't do her too many favours!
Well think I have achieved the every 2-3 days this month! Although don't think any of it was on the right days! I've tried doing it the first day my OPK's are +ve, done it the day after and this month tried it in the days running up to Ov but not on the actual days!

Pinkie My cycles vary aswell 27-32 days not as erratic as yours but still annoying, whats wrong with a nice average 28 eh!!

PinkiePoo · 17/03/2010 12:49

lucy i am on CD 13, I don't really have a normal cycle, usually ranges from 28-37/38.

Very very annoying!!!!

Hi guys, thanks for the friendly welcome

I have been charting already on 'my monthly cycles' but didn't know if that was the best one to be using or not - my friend suggested it so I just gave it a bash!
I've not been doing CM or temps at the moment, mainly because I have no desire to be rummaging around in the lady garden to check out mucus and no temping because I've been working nightshift so can't check them properly until I'm back into a normal routine.

Have been ttc for 8 months now but this is the first month I have charted properly altho was a bit gutted I wasn't able to pinpoint my ovulation this month.

CCBloom loving your bar chart idea!! Doesn't make you sad at all! Sounds like you'll have your cycles totally nailed by the time you start ttc!

PinkiePoo My OH also thinks I am obsessed but also admitted today he is glad I have this because he doesn't understand all the ins and outs of cycles etc! I'm sure I'm boring him to death most days explaining it all!

lucybarnes We meet again - how is the toilet training going!? I'm gonna have a look on fertility friend and see what it's like, I'm guessing probably much the same as the one I'm already using anyway!

Well I'm 12 dpo now and feel like AF is on her way so I'm probably out again for this month Roll on next month for a Christmas baby eh!

CCBloom · 16/03/2010 14:58

Hello and welcome MrsWajs! Like Lucy I've started charting just so I am better informed when it comes to starting to ttc for real in June. I looked at a few sites online and printed off some paper versions of charts but then I created my own spreadsheet using the best features I liked from each of the versions of charts I had seen, I even have it set up to generate a bar graph everytime I enter information. Charting does become a bit obsessive but since I am a Project Manager by occupation I always like to be well informed and have a report that I can look at to track progress- how sad am !?!?!

Lucy loving the 'paranoid chartet' and 'knicker peeker' expressions, they sum me up perfectly!

Pinkie you should be proud of this thread it's cosy and intimate and has some lovely ladies on it!

PinkiePoo · 16/03/2010 09:51

MrsWajs certainly not butting in.....the more the merrier. I am pretty useless at this charting business, although i am on the december bus which you pop your stats down, took me a little while to 'get it'!!
My OH laughs at my little obsession with mumsnet, and my little thread i started, but thinks its great to talk about it, which it is. I have told a few people about us trying but didn't want to broadcast it, as pressure would become too much, so its great we are all in the same boat and supporting each other!

Strange, people you don't know, yet i am absolutely rooting for every single one of us : )

Hi!

Hope you don't mind me butting in but just wondered where you guys are doing your charting?? Online or just on paper?

CCBloom · 15/03/2010 15:32

Thanks for the really lovely and thoughtful message Lucy it's topped off a positive 3 days for me! So pleased that I have the compassion and understanding of you wonderful ladies to get me through the harder days but happy that we share the good times too.

Lucy and Pinkie thanks for your enthusiastic responses to my update, I knew it was the right place to come and share my excitement. I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much about a positive result this month but at least we've taken a step in the right direction. Don't get me wrong I would be beyond delighted if we got a BFP in the near future!!

My OH works nightshift so we have that working against us and I can sympathisise with you Lucy on finding the right time when you both have the energy and the charting only makes us more focused on knowing when we should be getting busy! It sounds like you have a good attitude and approach to your situation anyway and I'm sure a nice little surprise will come your way soon.

Pinkie we know that relaxing is the best thing to do but it's easier said than done isn't it? Because I was on a big drunken night out with my OH on Friday I thought that there was no way any talk of babies would be on the agenda but as soon as we relaxed and had fun together he brought the subject over to babies and even started talking about names. I couldn't believe the transformation in him!!!

ccbloom ha ha that is GREAT news....i have a good feeling for you. sometimes the spontaneous acts, are the ones that work. FINGERS CROSSED. PLLLEAAASSEEEE let us know!!

Me and the OH have slowed down a little bit, think we went a little bit too crazy last month. But not giving up, no way. Did my OV test this morn and nothing....grrrrr!!! I am on day 11, but i am guessing where i am a little irregular, then i have no idea when i could ovulate!!

You're right Lucy the charting is empowering but also highly addictive. I can't believe how little I knew about my own body and cycle before I started down this road.

Anyway at the risk of sharing too much, my OH and I went to an engagement party on Friday, got very drunk, had some lovely drunken conversations about wanting to have a baby and then came home and had some unprotected action on the living room floor. I was 13 days into my cycle so hopefully there is a smidgen of a chance this month for me. Not sure if this spontaneous act means that he has changed his thinking on waiting until June but it has made me feel so much happier about his willingness to move in the right direction slowly but surely and to hear from him about how much he wants a baby too.

You're right lucybarnes it is really hard to take a step back. I started charting this month just so I could feel like I was moving in the right direction. Anyway now I know I must just be about to ovulate so I'm having to hold myself back from leaping on my OH and trying to make him forget about the condoms!! I never was a patient girl once I set my mind on something. I was saying to my OH the other day that the waiting until June and giving him time to quit smoking is a bit like someone putting a pile of presents in front of me and saying I can't open them for 3 months - it's torture!!!

Anyway good luck to you girls. Hope you all have lovely weekends and let's keep popping in to say hello.

Hello everyone,

PinkiePoo Good news on the blood tests, really pleased for you!

Hello lucybarnes good luck SWI - we struggle to find the time too, I also wonder how we'll ever manage to fit in looking after a baby!

CCBloom I just wanted to say, my DH has only just given up smoking - he's not smoked for about 2 and a half months now, since we started actively TTC. I've been nagging him to stop for 10 years and it's never made a blind bit of difference - but his dad died of cancer (not smoking related) five years ago when he was 25, and I think the thought (which I may or may not have put into his head ) that continuing to smoke might one day deprive his own kids of their father was much more persuasive than any of the 'do it for your health' arguments. He started by cutting down, and reading the Allen Carr book, then went onto patches. He's just ditched the patches, and says he feels much better for stopping. Good luck persuading your OH, and you have my sympathy during the nicotine-withdrawal stage when it comes - just keep reminding yourself that it's totally worthwhile!

I hope no-one minds that I kind of just dip into the thread every now and then, but I'm always reading your updates and keeping my fingers crossed for everyone!

PinkiePoo · 11/03/2010 12:23

I agree, i like this thread, nice and cosy!

CCBloom I think a bit of OH blackmail wouldn't go a miss or bribe with massages etc.....kick him into touch girl .

lucybarnes it is hard, my oh and i have been so tired, that i was a little glad to have a breather with the arrival of AF. This month we will calm the SWI down a bit. went a bit crazy last month with no success.

I really hope it happens for all of us and soon. Would be great, but for time being nothing like a bit of womanly support!!!

Great news about your bloodtests PinkiePoo that must feel like a great relief for you!

Thanks for the encouraging words Lucybarnes, I'm on some other threads too but I like this one since it's a bit smaller and easier to keep track with people individually. I agree we need solidarity in numbers so I'm cheering you both on this month while continuing to try and get my OH on board to start SWI ourselves soon!!
