Am i the only person who thinks this?

Hello all...

My partner and I are trying for a baby and in our first month of trying. AF is due on Sat, fingers crossed i don't get to see it.

But i cant help but think this is going to be a difficult ride....I have never thought the prospect of having children ever be a difficult one but now i have started trying, I am now wondering if i am going to find it hard to conceive.

Am i the only one who thinks this? Or am i not the only paranoid being on Mumsnet??

Where has everyone gone......have you all deserted me for other threads.....

MrsWajs oh no....bet he is fully milking this though. At least it may have taken your mind off the AF.....if it ever comes, lets hope it doesn't ;-)

FourofFour WELCOME [GRIN].... you and me both honey, in very similar situations. My OH has 1 DD and he is mind thirties and i am late 20's. I too (hence why i started this thread) think that its not going to happen for me, or will take a VERY long time. You have 1 up on me though, your ovulating. I however am not, or too late....grrrr.

But hate to say it, your DH is right. I bought the CB Ov tests and ended up in a foul mood everyday because there was no so the oh has banned them. I am on cycle 2, nearing onto cycle 3 as the cramps have arrived....

hang in there sweetie. If it does not happen just yet, enjoy each other, do things you wouldnt be able to if you were preggo or with children and relax.

We are all here for each other and this is a great thread for support, lots of bitching and general chit chat....so enjoy

Hello Ladies, would you mind if I joined you?

We're TTC no 1 for us (no 3 for DH) and I am really starting to get panicky!

We're only on our 4th cycle, but I just can't shake this feeling that it won't happen for us. As somebody else said, somebody has to be in the 20% who don't conceive within a year.

I'm sure that it is unfounded, but I just wish I could relax. I'm using the CBFM, according to which I am ovulating so that has been a bit of a relief.

The main problem is that DH really doesn't seem to get my sense of urgency. I'm 30, and he is mid 40s, yet he still seems to think we are both spring chickens and that I am fretting about nothing. He insists that I don't tell him when my fertile times are as he would feel pressured, which I do (kind of) understand, but it is so frustrating when it is ovulation day and he is too tired/not in the mood to DTD.

I'm trying to hold onto the fact that if it takes us a few more months, then that would mean a spring baby which would be ideal but every time AF arrives I feel devastated and it is being compounded by the fact that I am resentful that he doesn't seem to be fully on board.

Sorry for the massively self indulgent post, just feeling a bit at the moment.

Pinkie I think Lucy is referring to First Time Frolickers, which is the other thread I'm on! DP fell on Thursday and has broken both his wrists so is all plastered up!

lucy thanks for your support! DP is okay, just sore, we have to go back to hospital tomorrow morning to see what the treatment for the next few weeks is gonna be. Hopefully not plaster casts for both because I'm gonna need to take time off work if that's the case!! I think DP is secretly quite liking the fact that I have to shower him in the morning!!

On the TTC front - still no news, with all the hilarity I hadn't realised I was on CD39!! Just chilling about it tho - even had a glass of wine last night that's how convinced I am that I'm not pg!! Probably now I bloody will be and spend the next 9 months feeling guilty!!xx

PinkiePoo · 27/03/2010 12:41

Can't find the other thread......mrswajs hope you are ok?? and your poor DH. Not sure what has happened?!!

Let me know everything is ok.....has AF arrived yet too?? x

Thanks for letting me know lucy x

LADIES......I ma right here, ha ha!!

No plans in easter, i have 3 weeks off, due to being a teacher, bliss, but keeping myself busy with visits to the sister and nephew in Cambridge and various little trips.

cc it may still be a bit too early.....but really rooting for ya. Let me know.....the waiting is the absolute worst!

mrswajs docs are the bain of my life at times....always saying come back next week if no different. hang on in there girl..hopefully you will get that BFP soon!

lucy wow....you lucky thing. Jetsetters are us!! What with cc going to Miami soon, me? jealous? never

As for little old me, i have a day with the OH as working from home, but neither of us are in no SWI mood, slightly hungover if i am frankly honest, the perks of being non-preggo. Then off to teach later tonight. Roll on Sunday, when i have my lovely 3 weeks off.....ahhhhhhhhhh

Morning ladies. What a miserable drizzly day it is here in South London, it kind of suits my mood. Despite all my best efforts to distract myself this month I am still symptom spotting like mad on the off chance that our one drunken encounter might have resulted in something. I'm at day 25 of my cycle and had mild period-like stomach cramps yesterday along with backache and a pinky brown discharge which I convinced myself straight away was implantation bleeding. Rather impulsively tested using a cheapy this morning and of course it was negative but I seem to have lost all rational thought and even went to sleep holding my stomach protectively last night - it's going to be long 7 days until AF is due!!

MrsWajs you must be so fed up by this stage. It's the feeling of frustration of just waiting and not being able to do anything that's the worst. Fingers crossed your next test is a BFP.

Lucy sorry I forgot about your European Easter trip, will definitely be keeping you busy and we all need a break from RL just to keep us sane!

Pinkie hope you're ok too, come back to us if you need us.

MrsWajs · 25/03/2010 08:52

Pinkie are you still with us?? Hope you haven't abandoned the thread along with the opk's!!?? x

MrsWajs · 25/03/2010 08:51

Lucy It seems to be normal practice around my neck of the wood that if you haven't been trying for at least a year they won't touch you with a barge pole! My friend is testament to this as she has been TTC#2 for almost 4 years now and doesn't seem to be getting anywhere!

Someone mentioned on another thread a day21 blood test but not sure exactly what that entails think I may need AF to show first though? I did think they might have done a blood preg test but no. Have to re-test at home in a week and if still BFN then make another appointment. She did however say that she has known women to test negative for up to 4 weeks late and still be preggers so fingers crossed that might be me, although to be honest I don't feel very pg (not that I would know how it feels!) but no obvious symptoms anyway.

How are things with you luvvy??x

Not much to say here, CD36 now and still no AF but still no BFP either - done 2 tests now and both negative so I'm baffled.

Think I might have had delayed ovulation due to being unwell a few weeks ago, Been to Drs today to discuss it but didn't get much from them - if still no AF next wek have to go back and see them again.

CCBloom · 24/03/2010 12:51

Hi ladies, the PGCE is a postgraduate certificate in education and I would be looking to study to become a primary school teacher. Maybe having my own class of children would satisfy my urge for children!! Like Pinkie said even though the course is my strategy for moving forward nothing would make me happier than finding out I was pregnant.

Anyway on to you ladies. MrsWajs do you have any updates for us today? We're all living through you at the moment.

Lucy and Pinkie what exciting things are you up to keep yourselves distracted at the moment? Hope you all have exciting Easter holiday plans.

PinkiePoo · 23/03/2010 08:05

cc what a great idea.....throw yourself into something. That way we can fool our OH into thinking we are cool and breezy about the whole situation, but deep down we know we are still completely obsessive and out of control, ha ha!
What would you like to teach? I am a dance teacher, and LOVE it.

mrswajs I am trying to not get TOO excited for you, but we are all on counting on you. I really hope AF has done a runner for a good 9 months or so for you ;)

Well yep, no OV this month....or so i think. Actually feeling quite liberated without those sticks! and like cc i am trying to think of all the positives of not being pg right now....work, sisters wedding in aug (need to fit into my bridesmaid dress) and of course the freedom to do whatever i choose...however, we all know totally kidding myself and would much prefer to be up the 'duff'!

OP posts:
MrsWajs · 22/03/2010 23:46

Excuse my ignorance CC but what is a PGCE?? I'm guessing at a post-grad something but stumped at the rest! Good plan though, something to distract you from crazy baby lady thoughts!! Might take one up myself, whatever it is!!

Pinkie Sory to hear still no ov! Bloody eggs, nuisance they are!! But I agree with everyone else just go at it every second day and it's bound to come good sooner or later!! This is my new plan anyway. Either that or might give the Deanna plan a bash although DP isn't overly keen on the lack of BD'ing in between Ov and CD8 of following cycle!!

Lucy For some reason I thought you were trying too?!?!?! I am obviously not paying enough attention!!

Well still no AF here! Dunno if this is good or bad? On the plus side, I guess it's good if it means I'm pg, but on the other hand it's bad if I'm not cus it means I'm having an extraordinarily long cycle!!!
Just have to wait and see I guess (my favourite game - )will probably re-test again Wednesday or Thursday if still no AF.

CCBloom · 22/03/2010 16:27

Hi ladies sorry I have been AWOL for a few days but I've been trying to put my energy and thoughts into some other things. I'm really strongly considering doing a PGCE. It's something I have been putting off for years and now I just want to take the leap and do it. I've completed my application today and will send it off in a little while. This obviously has implications for ttc but I keep thinking that if I just get this under my belt now it sets me up better for the future for being off on school holidays and actually having a career that motivates me. I think it would be best to do the studying side of things before having children although I realise things don't always go to plan!!! Anyway we will see what happens. I have a sneaky feeling if I throw my energy into something else I might get a pleasant surprise and I could always defer the PGCE!! Like you both Lucy and Pinkie I don't like not being in control of a situation and it feels like this is something that is in my power to deal with!

Pinkie it sounds like you're going through the mill this month with the whole ovulation situation. I actually ovulated on day 18 of my cycle and I was fed up of waiting by then! I think Lucy is right you need to throw away the sticks and just have some fun every 2-3 days with your OH. It will happen for you although I know the waiting is hard.

MrsWajs I'm hoping for the best for you this month too!!

PinkiePoo · 22/03/2010 15:35

mrswajs i have everything crossed for you!! we need some good news on this thread!!!!

This is the first month for really checking, but doc did say i may not ovulate every month due to irregular periods.

I have decided to take a few little chill pills....sit back and let mother nature take its course. If of course, it decides that she is being a lazy little so and so, then off to the docs i will go next year....really hope it does not get to that. The OH and I were starting to feel the strain with my obsession, so not worth it, and we both decided for both our sanity's to just see what happens.

Oh sorry i thought you were trying lucy

Oooooh lucybarnes you have not had your AF yet? or is this mrswajs?? Very true, still early days, so could be a false negative....fingers crossed!

lucybarnes My cycle length varies....last month it was 35, month before was 28. This is my 2nd cycle.

did an OV test again this morning and NOTHING!! And have no more tests now, so guessing this month is a BIG FAT NO FOR ME!!
