So a slightly lighter and less scary thread for those who are chucking away the pills and the condoms and hoping for the best!

Think I might join you. Was on waiting to ttc but came off the pill at end of december. Now using condoms but not everytime. Think dh too scared to admit we are trying to conceive so now trying for a happy "accident"

LittleB · 26/02/2010 12:55

Thanks, no wonder I couldn't guess it then! Well had another 'big fat negative' but no sign of AF even though its due, so will just have to have a large glass (or two) of wine later and some more unproductive but fun shagging. Have decided when I get AF will just have to treat myself with all those things we're not allowed if pg, so looking forward to lashings of creamy blue cheese, fresh crab and dyeing my hair !

Floopy21 · 26/02/2010 10:37

Hi fellow newbies!
Sounds like we're at exactly the same stage Brassica.
LittleB, I think the 'BF' stands for 'big fat'

BrassicaBabe · 25/02/2010 22:58

Hi
Can I hang out too? Stopped pill last Friday, not had a period in years. So now just waiting for AF to return. There is time to obsess, but hoping that's a long way off...
(Do have some digital CB tests in the car, but that's another story! ;-) )

Ooh, a less scary thread, I like it. All these acronyms have been making my head spin (still haven't quite worked out what all of them stand for, even if I can suss out meaning from the context)!

Started trying last month. We decided to take a mostly relaxed approach to the whole business, don't want to take the fun out of it. Only thing I've monitored is the length of my cycle, so know when I'm due on and have a rough idea of when my fertile period is. Regardless, we're only really having sex when we feel like it, no schedule here!

Was fine with it when my period arrived first time, although other half apologised to me, bless him. Now I've got a week until I'm due again and starting to go crazy! Found myself symptom spotting last night and had to give myself a talking to!

LittleB · 25/02/2010 13:53

Hi, can I join too, some of the other threads are just too technical for me! We've been unprotected for a month now, but not pregnant this month, although no period yet, so will wait and see (have to admit to having done 2 first response tests, both negative (I know thats BFN but what does the 'BF' stand for?). But again its my first month off the pill, so could take a while to settle down and I've had loads of strange aches over the last month - hormones going into overdrive I think! I didn't bother to wait a month after coming off the pill, I asked my Dr and he said it didn't matter as dating scans are so accurate they don't really need dates, so don't worry about it; therefore no need to define 'normal' just start shagging. Not knowing my cycles, we're just shagging (should that be SWI or BD?)lots whenever we want too! DH doesn't seem too bothered if its going to take months sorry if TMI!!!

Floopy21 · 25/02/2010 13:50

30, I think that's all there is to it. I think a normal cycle can be anything from 3-6 weeks, with many having irregular cycles for a bit after coming off the pill. Bleed & wait is going to be my tactic anyway

30andLurking · 25/02/2010 13:37

Thanks frakkin, anyone else know what the definition of 'normal' is - any advance on final pill, bleed, wait, bleed, wait, bleed?!

Floopy21 · 25/02/2010 11:50

Hi All! Thought I'd pop in if that's OK? Finished the pill last Sunday. No idea what a real period will be like or when to expect it either. Very excited though!! Obviously in a 'not bothered' kinda way

Big Fat Congrat Tanmu! You must be over the moon

frakkinaround · 25/02/2010 10:32

Nope you don't need to define normal. I'm still waiting for one to appear after coming off the pill though! I had a bitch of a withdrawal bleed (went on for about 2 weeks) so now I'm waiting....and waiting....

I figure a normal cycle is natural period, wait, natural period but I could be wrong. That's why I'm here too!

OP posts:
30andLurking · 25/02/2010 10:30

Oh god, do I need to define 'normal'?!?

The reason I'm here is because I don't understand one word in 10 on the forums where everyone knows EXACTLY what bit of their cycle they're at every minute of every day.

I was just going to wait, roughly 28 days or so, have a period, then start shagging. You know, the old fashioned way!

frakkinaround · 25/02/2010 09:03

Oh wow, tanmu, that's fab!

Yay for the 'not bothered' approach working.

30 I'm waiting for a normal cycle...ha ha. Not here yet.

cluckyduck · 24/02/2010 20:34

Hi 30...

The first time is terrifying - but awesome once you get into it, like skydiving

Good luck, welcome to the club

30andLurking · 24/02/2010 20:29

Oooh oooh ooooh oooh, can I linger here!

I think I may have just finished my last packet of pills... So I guess I wait for one normal cycle... Meanwhile my DH and I are playing some sort of pre-TTC game of chicken, whereby we both talk about it occasionally in the abstract, but neither of us have quite got the guts to say 'Soo, when are we going to start having unprotected sex then?!'

It's normal to think the first time will be terrifying, right?

cluckyduck · 24/02/2010 20:27

Congrats tanmu! Great news

Yes, frakkin I am with you; I bought the "Taking Control of your Fertility" and got freaked out by all the stats and cervical mucus stuff and just pounced on OH instead, i prefer being proactive in that way

tanmu82 · 24/02/2010 20:25

just wanted to say that I have a BFP!!! I really want to tell the family, but it is really early days still so think it best to wait....that's why I'm telling you lot on MN - to let it all out! So, thank God I don't have to actually start figuring out all the charting and temping and the like.....

frakkinaround · 23/02/2010 21:15

liahgen

I think the stress of the temping and all that malarkey may be counter productive for me. It would turn sex into a scheduled activity.

"no...no...we have to have sex TOMORROW because that's the beginning of my fertile period"

OP posts:
liahgen66 · 23/02/2010 20:18

i'll pop in and out if I may

It does get you that way i'm afraid unless you're one of the lucky ones. We've been trying a year and a half and i've had a mc at 6 wks and a mmc at ten and half wks.

I have now stopped temping and everything, we are having sex every other day and will see where that takes us.

Good luck to you all.

frakkinaround · 23/02/2010 19:29

I can just imagine the reactions if I told you not to test! I'm terrible though - we're not actively TTC but if it happened it wouldn't be terrible and sometimes we forget condoms but I never test. I'm always too scared it might be positive/negative (depends on my mood.

OP posts:
cluckyduck · 23/02/2010 17:55

Ooh, can I join?

Gave up contraception in the end of Dec 09, when we had a pretty awful bereavement, and it just seemed right to start trying, if that makes sense!

Currently on day 30 of a 28day cycle so think the stress has knocked my cycle out of whack, grrr!

tanmu82 · 23/02/2010 17:36

what shall we obsess talk about indeed....hmm, maybe how much we're not really obsessing...???

seriously though, I think we are all actually trying for a baby, just not wanting to get all technical...doing the deed and the crossing fingers tightly Speaking for myself, I shall still be peeing on sticks every month and I shall still keep doing my 'research' of baby clothes/furniture/names and so on....and I shall still keep boring telling you all about it! But I do want to keep the love making side fun and not just about making a baby...

PrivetDancer · 23/02/2010 17:28

Ooh go on then! Are we even allowed to mention when we pee on pg sticks?
I'm only just starting out, casually for now, but last time it took 2 years so I don't think it'll be long before I start obsessing.
Actually I've already bought 10 pg tests and an ovulation saliva tester perhaps I should move along...!

amylou222 · 23/02/2010 17:14

I'm in too... but I'm not sure for how long! We've only been TTC for 2 months and I can already feel myself getting sucked into all things scary. I found myself hovering around the chemists looking at ovulation kits the only day! I'm going to stick in with this thread and maybe I'm resist the scary looking ovulation kits and stick to good old fashioned love making (for now!!!)

TeaFan · 23/02/2010 16:28

Oooh yes, i'm in too. 12 months on I just want to have fun and forget about it but if we're not going to measure/obsess/symptom spot, what will we talk about?

sunshineandstrawberries · 23/02/2010 14:41

I'm in - if I'm allowed? I have started to get way too obsessed about this TTC business (+12months) and really need to get my head back in the 'lets just see what happens' zone

I promise not to symptom spot, obsess, knit booties, measure anything! and most of all I promise to covet thy husband and enjoy every minute
