Ok, feel a bit scared actually starting the new thread but here we are, for however long (or short) our time here may be.

Off you go ladies. Welcome () one and all.

barren I'm really sorry to hear your news.

take it easy. x

So sorry Barren I didn't see your post, must have been faffing about typing my long one and pressed post message - then spotted yours.

How awful for you. You are soooo entitled to drown your sorrows . I hope it's physically not too bad for you and that you have lots of support in the real world.

hippychick66 · 05/03/2010 20:28

Goodluckbear that story about your ex - OMG, we all hope to met up with ex's when we look fab - what a god awful time to see him - poor you!!

jollster You poor poor thing. That is exactly what I was scared of happening to me. I was so releived when I got my EPRC and I really do wish they had fitted you in for one sooner so you didn't have to go through that. I feel so on your behalf. I really hope everything has been passed and that you can begin to get over it physically asap. Sending loads of love to you - (super-mum!).

maitri I don't have much advise cos as I said i was lucky in a way and I got booked in for an EPRC before anything happened naturally. I understand why you have decided not to have one cos of the anaesthetic. There are lots of ladies on here who can advise you about miscarrying naturally. I was told to have sani towels ready and heavy duty pain-killers just incase it started naturally. I think the doctors say it's like a heavy period but from what I've heard - that's the understatment of the year. My thoughts are with you - I hope you get through it ok. It is just so sad that so many people have to lose their much loved little ones. I am drinking a large glass of red - join me as soon as you can. Take care.

newcastle I think they say have one period before you try but this is probably due to it making it easier to date the next pregnancy. I have decided to have one AF before I start trying just because I want to be sure that everything from this little one has gone and that I am starting from scratch. Also i'm still spotting quite a bit even though it's been 17 days since EPRC - so would just worry myself sick if I got preg now. There are plenty of ladies who start trying immediately after a MC and many who are successful. Just ask Lia! A girl at my work is 13 weeks preg and she got preg straight after a MC without an AF. It really is your decision. Good luck. Be kind to yourself - it's still very early.

Hippy raises her full glass to all the ladies who share her pain and understand completely why she feels like sobbing at odd moments. Cheers.

Allthe8s · 05/03/2010 20:20

ohhhhh Barrenbrook I am so bloody sorry xxxxx

barrenbrook · 05/03/2010 20:14

Well that has to be one of the shortest pregnancies ever. Game over for me today, m/c again. Bleeding started this afternoon, started brown and has now turned red and heavy.

Have moved myself back to bottom of list.

Have a good weekend ladies, I'm off to drown my sorrows.

wow ladies I shouldn't stay away so long. Hello to all the newbies and I am sorry that you have all found yourself here. Jollster & Maitri I hope you are doing ok now.x

Sakura28 that is the pits, have been there and know how you feel. Communication between departments & Gps is bloody awful and it's not too much to ask. When I mc last year at 21 weeks I was on the delivery suite, discharged etc etc, I got a phone call about a month before what would have been my due date asking me to come in to see the anaesthetist about my forthcoming labour. I went f'ing ape. I know it's part of the miscarriage code of practice MN are campaigning about........I think it just depends on who you get sadly, when my mmc in Jan was confirmed the epu cancelled all my appointments during my consultation. However I received a pampers "your baby is four months old" mag in the new year (7 months after mc1 and just as mc2 had been confirmed) my fault for not cancelling everything although I never received any other mags from them prior to that one!

GLB your train story (((((((()))))))))

Urd I am starting on the wine now........white, red or what about a rose as it has been a sunny week???? Any takers?

Viv I have those conversations in my head all the time.x

Well AF gone thank goodness (16 days!!!!!!!!! Was that a good period ffs?? Anyone managed to get tightie whities in this week?) no idea when or if I have ov'd. Roll on next AF now I suppose! At least I can get lazzered on my birthday!!

Hi everyone - wow this thread moves fast!

I've not had internet for a few days so hello to everyone and sending positive thoughts out for some BFP's soon

Also thought I'd have a mini rant about a phone call from the midwife the other day - after they sent me 2 appointment letters (both of which I ignored, I didn't have the strength to ring them and tell them I'd mc'd) they then rang up and asked if I still wanted an appointment! Managed not to swear and just say "no", really I'm angry at the doctor, it wouldn't have taken much for them to let the midwife know what had happened would it really?! Maybe thats asking too much...

Anyway, positive thinking from now on and nice to meet you all xxx

Goodluckbear · 05/03/2010 10:21

Ah Jollster and Maitri - wish I'd come online last night now to offer hugs.

Yeah, I had an ERPC in the end, but it already started the day before - if it hadn't been for MN I would've had no idea of the amount of blood and clots. I sat on the toilet for about 2hrs. I wish I had known that this is normal and ok, not told that it would be like a "heavy period" - my arse. If women were having periods like that no work would ever actually get done. And the laundry bills would be phenomenal. I hope it is going/has gone ok for you guys, and echo everything else everyone else said (in better ways).

If it's any help/consolation/entertainment, the day after all that I got the train to the hospital for the ERPC (on my own - am a loon) and bumped into my ex boyfriend. I hadn't seen him in 8 years, had always daydreamed of bumping into him whilst on my way to some posh do, looking totally glam, and him going "Oh, hi GLB, god you look great" and me going "Who are you? Oh, Jon, I remember you, nice to see you". Instead, no, I am dressed in (slightly bloodstained) tracksuit, with greasy hair and pale as death, and I go "Jon! Wow, how are you?" and he goes "Have we met?".

I could've just DIED. Thank god I was getting off at the next stop.

Viv - I have the imaginary conversations too, in fact, for some reason I am now having an imaginary conversation with your SIL and it is playing out nicely in my head. A bit of OUTRAGE for a Friday morning. Passing the box of Mars bars your way (they are fun size, you can take a handful).

Hi to everyone, newbies and old hands, hope today is a better day/good day for all. And apologies for not namechecking properly.

xxxxxxxxxx

Pollybloodyanna · 05/03/2010 10:02

oh maitri sorry didn't reply to you. hope it goes as well as possible for you.

i had a natural mc, - I was close to 12 weeks, but foetus was less. I was worried about it all, but you will get warning about when it is going to happen.

For me it was an absolute bloodbath, and I spent rather too long at home - call an ambulance if bleeding gets too much - I nearly fainted and lost too much. I found it easier to sit on the loo during most of it. take some painkillers too - my dh went to the pharmacy and got some co-codomol for me which may have helped.

I was very anaemic afterwards and refused a blood transfusion (don't know why - wanted to get home probably) and had some very severe anaemia symptoms some of which are still going on 5 weeks later. I took Sytron which is an iron supplement which is more gentle on the stomach. If I had gone into hospital earlier i would have been better i think.

everyone is different though and i hope you are ok. xx

Pollybloodyanna · 05/03/2010 09:54

Hello all,

Jollster sorry about your horrific day - my natural mc was very similar - ended up in hosptial as I lost too much blood. Hadn't expelled everything either . hope it goes ok with you. i agree - erpc seems much better to me.

lia sorry about your bfn.

Sorry can't namecheck everyone else, but hope you are all doing ok.

Oh I think I have an af!! Please can someone add me as CD1? (although I may be CD3 as I have had some bleeding for the last couple of days). Am going to see dr about possible short luteal phase/progesterone probs i think.

Anyway, I am relieved in a way - I'm pretty sure I didnt ovulate after mc and hopefully I will this time and can swi!

Gi1da · 05/03/2010 09:43

Morning all [waves hello]. Maitri hope you are ok this morning, you too Jollster.

Big commiserations for all those whose aunt comes to stay uninvited, but a relief to those who sent out an rsvp. Lets hope March brings sunshine and a liberal dose of sticky beans.

urd · 05/03/2010 09:35

Hello all, hope today is the start of a weekend of some good news.
Welcome pumpkinjoy, newcastle and mummy 369. I have only been on here a couple of weeks and it is very comforting.
Good luck littlemiss hope its good news.
Jolster and Maitri, hope you are both ok, your'e very brave I opted for the ERPC.Hope you are feeling a bit better over next couple of days.

I had my ERPC two weeks ago tomorrow, slight tummy cramps, could I be ovulating do you think ?
Anyway will check in later, Shall we start the wine early today as its Friday?

(God, I didn't mean now if thats what you think, bit early.............give it another hour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Allthe8s · 05/03/2010 09:11

Morning ladies just a quick pop round the door to wish you all a cold but sunny happy friday. Will be back at lunch for a proper catch up xxx

VivClicquot · 05/03/2010 09:11

Christ Jollster, sounds as though you had a right day of it. Sending you lots of love today.

And hi Maitri - I'm afraid I can't offer any advice as with my mmc, I opted for the ERPC. However, as you can see, there are lots of lovely ladies here who can help. Hope you and your DH are doing okay.

As for me - slight smudge of blood this morning so think AF will show on time tomorrow. And there me was wondering whether my lack of spotting was a good sign.

To be honest, rather than being sad, I'm frankly fucking furious about it (how DARE I not be pregnant!), which has mothballed into me having imaginary conversations in my head about what I'll say next time my SIL asks me if I have 'any news'.

Not the best start to the weekend...

randomimposter · 05/03/2010 08:44

thanks littlemiss and bunnybaby. Maitri it may be all over by now for you. Hope it is. Am going to take some Spatone (iron supp) myself to get back on track. Actually the worst bit for me was not knowing whether it was going to get worse... fear of unknown I guess. Am due to EPU today anyway to repeat my bloods (their cock-up) so will see if they can scan me. Despite much "loss" yesterday, I'm not convinced it's over. Whilst I didn't analyse every single emission I thought I'd be more aware of expelling a nine week size?

Morning everyone. Any BFPs for the weekend? x

AlbaDeTamble · 05/03/2010 08:34

Jollster and Maitri, thinking of you both and hope you had restful nights.

Positive thoughts to those at the top of the list. I hope your advice to MrsR is right for you too Viv! LittleMiss, fingers crossed. I think we had our ERPCs on the same day and my first AF nearly over now. I think there's a good chance you're pg not late . moofold, great news on opks! Liah, still fx for you despite bfns...

littlemiss72 · 05/03/2010 07:51

Morning all, jollster hope your ok hunni, sounds like you've had rough time. Thought the cats comment was awesome

Hi to the newbies, sorry you have found yourself here. newcastle you do what you think is right, I was lucky and stopped bleeding pretty quickly and was back to swi about 9/10 days after. More to feel close than ttc really.

That said still no AF so far today I have seen from other posts you can wait a while so I'm hanging out.

FRIDAY at last, have to say I certainly looking forward to the weekend.

Love to all xxx

Hopefully · 05/03/2010 07:41

Maitri so sorry you find yourself going through this. My MC was much earlier, but I think some unpleasant cramps are par for the course. How bad they are depends entirely on your personal circumstances, but please don't hesitate to take decent painkillers (there are some you can combine like, I think, ibuprofen and paracetamol). There's no point enduring anything unnecessarily.

Theoretically AF is due tomorrow. I am manfully resisting testing (mainly because we're incredibly poor and trying to save money to move house in a month), but I have NO symptoms whatsoever, and I had symptoms for both my other pregnancies by this stage, so i doubt it's going to be BFP for me this month somehow.

Gi1da · 05/03/2010 00:24

Ps took a week off work which was an absolute nec just to have time to think, rest etc. Also allows time for follow up blood tests to monitor hormone levels at hospital. Recommend Iron / vitamin supplement, I didn't and promptly got a bloody cold. Just be really kind to yourself and take it easy. And it's an emotional roller coaster too so be kind to yourself. And come here often as it really helps for support. Best of luck. Sorry brain a bit scrambled, way past my bed time and head not on straight. Hope info helps and is not scary.

Gi1da · 05/03/2010 00:15

Maitri, sorry to hear you're in this boat. Just to give you an idea of what might happen.
I moved around quite a bit when it was all happening, loo to sofa and back repeatedly with some pacing. Hurt less when moving. Worst bit was intense and lasted about an hour I think, though all a bit of a blur now. Most of that in bathroom. Yuk. Flush often, don't look was my policy. Mc lasted several hours (then period like for a week). It is horrid, but you get through it. Recommend having some blankets to huddle in, and can take to bathroom. Top banana if you have painkillers, I stupidly didn't even have aspirin in the house, or sanitary pads - doh! Also had sent DH away cos I thought mc had already happened, had been bleeding since the previous evening, then spent a few hours at a&e next morning. Total ignorance on my part, thanks for that NHS! Having company about is good to make sure you are ok, hand hold, make tea etc.

It's shite, but it will be over soon enough and then you can move on. Sending you a big un-mnnet hug. (())

Maitri · 04/03/2010 22:21

Eeek! Have just read the posts regarding bloodbaths which is just what my post is about... I went in for my 12 wk scan on Monday to learn that there was no heartbeat. Seems we lost the baby at 8 weeks. I was given the option of surgery the following day but decided to sit it out and made a booking for Monday of next week for the EPRC. There's a bit of family history regarding general anaesthetics so I wanted to avoid it if possible.

Psychologically, I feel okay about the m/c. I am really lucky to have two lovely dcs already and we feel quite philosophical about the fact that this embryo just wasn't going to make the grade. I've had my tears and I certainly have a sense of loss and disappointment but I'm not wrestling with challenging emotions at this point. I hope that doesn't sound heartless - I'm an absolute softy and I recognise the emotional agony that many women go through following a m/c.

My question is: What should I expect physically? I had a "show" a few hours ago which was a bit streaky and I'm now cramping a little bit and have achy legs. I'm also feeling a bit sick. I suppose I'm just really scared of the unknown. I'm expecting rivers of blood, unbelievable pain and enormous globules of matter. If that is the case, how do you recommend I deal with it? - do I just sit on the loo for hours on end? (dh has set up the laptop in the bathroom so that I can watch endless dvds to take my mind off it) - or is it better to bulk out my knickers with maternity pads and take to my bed? Would you recommend I take any supplements (vits or iron)? How long might I need to take off work?

Any gentle advice would be really appreciated. Many thanks.

Newcastle16 · 04/03/2010 22:19

Girls sorry for the late message but DH and I are so confused as to what to do.. Do we start trying again next week? I MC last week so in theory will ovulate some time from mid nxt wk but who knows when. Just dont know if thats risky to try before first period or if its ok as Ive read we are at our most fertile after MC. So so scared.
