Ok, feel a bit scared actually starting the new thread but here we are, for however long (or short) our time here may be.

Off you go ladies. Welcome () one and all.

OP posts:
hippychick66 · 14/03/2010 20:12

Sorry muser just read your post and really really hope I didn't upset you. I guess if you MC early you don't get those weeks. I feel awful now - me and my big mouth.

I really hope this is your year and that you get to experience a full term preg very soon.

AlbaDeTamble · 14/03/2010 20:10

watchout hippy, I did that, and got cystitis as my reward... sat at home drinking gallons of cranberry juice last night rather than planned lovely pre-mothers day dinner out. Missed out on probably the most important SWI of the month too... if this cycle is like normal... but fingers crossed the sticks really are right and ovulation is going to be late for me this month. It did leave me feeling very flat today, and much as it was lovely getting cards and presents from my gorgeous little DS and DSCs too, I was feeling like such a failure after the mc, and now being unable to even SWI when I need to makes me feel utterly useless... grrr, need angry face, but that's reserved, but also . Frustrating that I should be counting my blessings, but still really cut up about the mc and really want a sibling for my little boy (DSCs do count, but are all much older than him -- and anyway, have their own mother so in a way it's jealousy on my part too). Can I still blame my hormones being messed up for my awful mood today, after 6 weeks?

Oh dear, bit of a rant.

Unbuffy, I hope your brother and his wife are gone now and you have a big glass of wine and something lovely to do this evening.

Muser, big hug, it's a funny old day, I have trouble buying in to my DH's optimism that it'll all work out in the end, but try to imagine mothers day in years to come, when it has come right and you can look back and it will all have been worth it.

hippychick66 · 14/03/2010 20:09

limelight you are very clever to update the stats as soon as you get here. I'm so scared of mucking them up that I never touch them.

So sorry to hear of your double loss. I know what you mean about fearing you are at the begining of a string of MC's.

I recently had my first and hopefully only MMC. So many people find out at that damn scan - it's heartbreaking. I just keep focusing on the fact that many people have one mc followed by a healthy pregnancy. I think it is fairy normal to fear the worst. You obviously can carry to full term and chances are that next time you will be absolutely fine.

Good luck and welcome.

Muser · 14/03/2010 20:04

I've never had that feeling that I was a mother. For both my pregnancies I knew they were going wrong from the beginning. Never had those weeks of hope. Never even had the missed period. In a way that makes it easier as the loss is anticipated. But it's also so hard. I know when we start trying again I will dread every period as I won't know if it's a true period or the start of something worse.

Limelight · 14/03/2010 19:59

Hi! So, ready to start again...

I discovered I'd had a MMC in January at my 12 week scan (my twins died at 7 and 7.3 weeks). I had an ERPC, which caused quite a lot of pain and I bled for AGES! Had my period quite quickly after that though and so we've decided to start trying again. I should also say that I have PCOS (which I've known about since I was quite young and have been completely unphased by until now!), and also have a DS aged 2.9.

Deep breathing, trying very hard not to be obsessive about this, and also not assuming that I'm about to have a string of MCs, is the order of the day!

Nice to meet you all and Happy Mother's Day too! Here are updated stats (with me on the list!):

Happy Mothers Day to all. As someone else said, we are all mums on here.

Some of us are lucky enough to have DC's already but everyone has been a mum, even if only for a few secret weeks. I hope and pray that everyone on this thread gets to experience the full joy of motherhood very very soon. Each and everyone on here deserves it so much.

A special hello to the person I was talking to who lost her mum a year ago (sorry I'm not 100% sure what your name was and I'm worried I'm name check the wrong person - I think it was wannabeamum.) Anyway, you know who you are and I know today must be rubbish for you, I still find fathers day hard.

I am gearing up for the first since eprc. Will report back on whether it comes with a bang or a fizzle. I am kind of looking forward to it cos it means I will be begining to try again. But of course am still thinking WHY THE F*CK SHOULD I HAVE TO TRY AGAIN! But we all feel like that.

Have composed a killer letter to my consultant explaining why I do not feel I should pay for his time. Concluding that neither mine or my husbands expectations for the consultation were met. I am off to the hosp for an NHS appointment on Friday when I will ask all the same questions about my cycle that I asked him. Hope I get more answers this time.

By the way, I bought that book by Toni welcher. It is quite good and I am very familiar with all the different kinds of CM now. I am gonna go for it like a complete sex addict as soon as I see that egg white and not stop till it's gone. Ha Ha - Look out DH!!

Allthe8s · 14/03/2010 18:30

Big hugs Muser, know what you mean about FB I deactive my account if I am having a bad few days as I find lots of updates hard to read when I am down in the depths. Tomorrow is another day hun and another step closer, chin up xx

Muser · 14/03/2010 18:23

Don't know about anyone else, but I'm not dealing well with mother's day. I wasn't expecting it to be hard, but when I went on to Facebook and saw all these updates about what people's kids have done for them it was just too much.

Then I watched the episode of ER where Carter's baby is stillborn and that finished me off.

ElmMum · 14/03/2010 11:54

Hi all, hope you're all coping ok with mothers' day.

We're off later for dinner with a friend who told me she's pregnant last week. She was very very tactful (she was one of only two people I told I was pregnant in the first place because we'd discussed that we would both start TTC after Christmas). Even though she was gentle about it, it knocked me back. Made me realise how much I wanted to be able to say I was still pregnant too. Plus, we would have had first scan by now so were thinking we would tell grandparents today as a nice mothers' day surprise.

But I do feel a bit more positive today. I seem to have finally stopped bleeding and I spoke to my tutor on Thursday who said there's no reason I couldn't still finish and pass my course being pregnant. He's had other students have babies in their second (final) year, even when they've given birth before the end of the last term.

Made me feel sooo much better to think we don't have to wait a year but could actually start TTC once I've had a couple of normal periods and we feel ready.

So... a tentative from me. And the sun is shining.

Hope you all have days today. Loads of love to you all.

xxx

PS - sorry for self-centred focus of post. There are just too many people to namecheck all. But I am reading your posts and feeling for you all.

PPS - I will be TTC number 2 (where the bej-whatstits is the hash key on my keyboard!), my UCL is 28/29 days but I'm only just finish mc so no idea just now when I'll get my first . Hey, I feel like a real pro now I've cracked my stats!
x

Unbuffy · 14/03/2010 11:35

Just popping in to say hi. Feeling a bit low - sil and bro still here, obv, and spending their time looking at new cars online. I mean, ffs??! Not playing with dd, or talking to us, or anything. They're just off the computer for a few min now, but they'll be back on before any time I'm sure.

Also confused because feeling queasy and not sure why... unhappy and frightened whether pg or not pg, so it's a no win situation, and suspecting i'm getting my hopes up unneccessarily (see stats: day 20 only)

Glad everyone else seems a bit more cheerful, makes me feel better !

Oh, and best wishes for mothering Sunday everyone. We've all been mothers here, if only for a few private weeks that rl isn't aware of, and we will all be mothers again. VERY SOON (all things willing). Baby marshmallows and sticky choccy brownies all round.
x

Muser · 14/03/2010 11:11

Updating stats is easy.

  1. Find the most recent stats post.
  1. Copy all the text
  1. Paste it into the message box
  1. If the stats haven't been updated that day already, add 1 day to everyone's CD figure.
  1. If they have been updated that day, just update your own to whatever they should be.
  1. Post the message.

There is no science, just copying and pasting.

AlbaDeTamble · 14/03/2010 09:50

Sorry Moofold, was so hopeful for you... I suppose small consolation that at least you know you're oving and could well have that bfp in 2 weeks time...

Quite proud of the resilience of my body - 28 days following the first negative hcg test my period has arrived! Sad the little things that perk you up post nightshift eh? Warned DH to limber up for next week!.....

Jollster, Barrenbrook & Alba - BFN. I'm staying in my permanent position at the top of the list for a while yet!

lots of arsicles tonight...
so sorry unbuffy that's shit frankly.
barrenbrook double shit-piles.

(But of course all good really as lovely for them, and as we know there aren't limited babies available; it won't make our quests less likely...)

liah admire you greatly - you are surrounded by fertility blossoming. All hail to you and your strength.

moofold....? Test, test, TEST x

muse , I won't patronise with platitudes. Have just poured ANOTHER glass of SB.... Can I get one for you? x

barren tough news. My recent line to someone at work who is always intrusive and asking when will I have another was with a very serious face "that's not a good question to ask. just think what the possible answers might be." It really worked. It doesn't admit anything (and for all they know the answer might be that I don't want any more children and don't want to discuss it in detail) and if they press for more details just say you don't want to talk about it.

I belong to a very religious community where it is expected that you will have children so where a gap starts to come the automatic assumption is more towards you are having problems than you are deliberately putting it off and people are generally (although not universally) more careful about not sticking their foot in it. I used to belong to a less religious one where it was considered fine to ask if you were expecting and if not why not. A lot of other people seem to assume that 1. if you don't have children it is because of a personal choice which you can be talked out of and 2. nowadays everyone can have children. It can be very distressing and upsetting.

Buffy keep going you will get there. I can think of lots of ways to upset doctors but my response to people distressing me is to usually retaliate by a factor of 10. I like the death comment.

Moofold · 13/03/2010 20:31

Barrenbrook virtual glass of wine winging its way to you. I feel like I am turning into a total ogre sometimes too. My Mum phoned me the other day to tell me my cousin had her baby and that close family friends' son and his wife are due in September and I couldn't even bring myself to come out with the usual platitudes. Then I got angry with her for phoning to tell me those bits of news in the first place. So don't worry about not wanting to go and see newborns - I went to see my friend's a few weeks back and he was a month old by the time I could muster the strength/ will.

Right - I will test first thing tomorrow and let you know. However, I know I am not - not presenting symptoms and BBT chart only now showing the temp shift. OPK positive today again mind you. Like I said to Alba yesterday, I don't need much persuading to pee on a stick so I'll have a go tomorrow!

Despite succumbing to DD's cold we have managed a few SWI sessions over these positive OPKs so fingers crossed!

Glad RTD is calming down Liah.

Have a good evening all x

liahgen66 · 13/03/2010 20:00

Oh buffy I'm sorry your sil timing was off for you. Drown your sorrows,

Err, that was me posting stats and no "talk", was just rushing but didn't want my stats to carry on wrong.

I took on a client today that's due when I would have been. I did think about it but they are a really lovely couple and I really want to support them get a positive experience. 1st baby for them.

Bleeding not quite so heavy today so hopefully it'll turn into a normal period for a day or 2 then I can get down to it, (err,I mean we )

Have lovely mothers day everyone.

OP posts:
barrenbrook · 13/03/2010 19:51

Moofold I'm still maintaining that you are updiffed lady!

Unbuffy f*cksticks, hope you are OK, same thing pretty much happened to me last weekend as you all know, so I am feeling your pain honey. Drink your way through it. did!

Liah My post ERPC RTD was about 10 days... Not so frustrating for me though as I was told to abstain or at least have protected sex for three months because of it being a suspected molar. Hope yours ends soon matey.

RANT ALERT!!!!

SIL and her sister (they were both due the same day, how freaky) both gave birth this weekend, one boy and one girl. I am of course over the moon for my brother and his wife but I feel shit, I don't even want to go and see them. How wrong is that?! Plus they all keep saying, when are you two having kids, you're both getting older, clock's ticking, blah, blah, blah. None of them know about the two miscarriages that we've had and I can't face telling them as I can't stand the fuss and sympathy (I have no idea why).

No pleasing some people is there!!

Sorry for the self obsessed post. Where's the wine!

Gi1da · 13/03/2010 18:53

Jollster don't fret! Unbuffy, oh arsewhangknickers! I hope the rest of the weekend is ok. Have faith that it will all come good in the end. Hug.

Moofold · 13/03/2010 18:45

Oh Unbuffy that's shit. This is happpening to me a lot recently too - every time I think I am getting a little more emotionally stable someone else makes a happy announcement and its like a knife to the heart every time. Obviously I am happy for them but in a purely selfish way I really don't want to be confronted with numerous pregnancies as it brings forth painful memories.

Hang on in there, reach for the wine let it all out if you need to and keep your pecker up

Unbuffy · 13/03/2010 18:01

smaaaall rant.

SIL expecting. ARGGGGH!!!

Trying to be nice, smile a bit fixed and gritted-teethy.

randomimposter · 13/03/2010 16:42

ooooo, did I come over all schoolmarmy earlier - now there are stats posts with no other comments ....
littlemiss hope the house hunt goes well. Think you have to move on with real life... have been guilty myself of over-focusing on getting/staying (!) pg, and not dealing with other stuff.
