Hello all

am back and very happy cos I went shopping today and went into mamas and papas which is my new favourite shop

Only bought things for me to wear - nothing for the baby yet

4ever your pram looks lovely we still picking ours - but think it may be a phil and teds one... unsure..

barbie am actually getting very excited for you!lets hope something happens before monday!

BlueMoon1981 · 16/02/2010 14:23

did anyone else have problems getting on last night, i was most annoyed i couldnt settle down for my bedtime reading!

cupcake you and your bump are very beautiful

barbie i agree with the others, 6lb isnt small, my friend had her baby 3 weeks early before christmas and was only 4lb 1oz but she was just small and perfectly formed for no apparent reason, and is now putting on weight steadily and is absolutely fine

had a lovely evening out with df on sunday, we both agreed it was nice to have some 'us time' without family and friends and tv and laptops etc.. made me remember how much i love him and he looks lovely in a shirt

still cramping but backache has also set in now which means af is a week away, so think i am out for this month

not at work for the next 2 days so am using my time doing nothing productively

MrsKate · 16/02/2010 11:51

hi girls

hope everyone is ok

barbie hope you are ok its exciting that not long to wait.xxxxxx

4ever love the pram

cupcake love the pics

been having major nesting time on my days off . im knackered . back at work tomorrow bo ho

barbie1 · 16/02/2010 09:57

Still here waiting.......

I think i had a bot of a show last night and then a few twinges while in bed, very restless night. Nothing again this morning so back to the walking, hot food and sex Im really hoping that things kick of on their own before monday....

4ever nice pram! i bet you cant wait to finally get it, ive been pushing my pram around the villa trying to get used to not knocking things or running the dog over Cant quite get my head around that this time next week the baby will be here.....

blue gorgeous pictures of the wee man.....beautiful baby you are right to be a very proud mummy!

I have packed and repacked my hospital bag, having to go out this evening to get a few more small baby grows. The notes we were given yesterday from the hospital suggest that the baby will be no bigger than 5.4lb so we are having to buy prem baby grows ....I think we have bought every size going!

I have jools number if any thing kicks off, but im sure ill still be here sunday night shitting myself worried about being induced the following day. I will promise to get on here at least once a day so you all dont think something has happened!

4everhopeful · 15/02/2010 18:33

Hey Blue and Cupcake Bless you both getting excited for me talking of prams! This is THE PRAM ! [GRIN] MIL did always say she'd buy the pram, but now she has to buy 2 of everything cos of BIL gf due at same time as us! It is VERY expensive, but so love it & is carseat & buggy to last til 4yrs old so its an investment! We may have to chip in too though!

I agree Blue, cant wait to spend last days waiting for our LO in the garden catching the sunrays on our swingchair (if it takes my collosal weight by then!) Just sneaked a peak & also got goosebumps at your gorgeous boy!

Right back to sofa, Im all achey & twingey, LO doesnt like this work malarky!

bluesatinsash · 15/02/2010 16:57

oh Barbie - what a week you've had honey but please don't worry to much about your bump size. Your lo will be just fine and bump size is notoriously hard to guage accurately. I'm now starting to think you're having a girl tho' as they are daintier .

4ever - echo cupcake in getting all goosebumps hearing about your nursery and starting to hang pink things up there! Your pg dates remind me of mine with DS1 as he was due on 2nd June (arrived 6/6/6!) and I finished up on mat leav eon 5th May that year - lovely time of year to be off blossom everywhere etc.

I also thought my bump was neat from the front but side view expecially when starkers -

Hey MLS - enjoy your 'me'time. did your DH get on the plane??

Iggy - you flew a plane?!! Wow what other exciting things have you done?

cupcake and 4ever - enjoy buying the pram its a lovely milestone to get to and so much fun - epscially if your paretns offer to buy it .

I've uploaded a recent photo of B as he is really filling out and looking less like a curled up comma now . God I love him to bits even at 3/4/5am!!

Hey to everyone else x

Hi 4ever awww, so lovely to hear you talking about prams and nurseries which M&P pram are you getting then? We were tempted by the Sola as it's v similar to the iCandy Cherry but we settled on the Cherry in the end.
Yes do mention your pain to GP. Although I told mw last week about sciatica (she didn't know before cos I'd phoned maternity unit direct) and she just said 'oh right' and didn't put it in my notes or anything

Lol, barbie I think my bump is small too until I see it in photos then I'm like and I'm always surprised when people I don't know say to me 'when's the baby due?' cos I wonder whether I do actually look pregnant!

4everhopeful · 15/02/2010 16:17

Hello lovelies - a quickie from me cos im shattered and every bit of my body is aching - I need to be horizontal! Sorry for worrying you all with my dissapearance! Was having a loving valentines lockdown with DH!

Barbie you poor love, so sorry you are having so much anxiety, only to be expected by any first time mum Im sure, but after all the dramas you have had its totally understandable.. At least you know when you will get to meet baby barbie now though, this time next week you will be cradling him or her in your arms!

Cupcake thanks for checking up on me sweetie! I really hope the flat is 'the one'! I def agree with the others about your serene and lovely bump pic!

MLS poor DH - hope he made it ok! 9 days & counting! Enjoy the sky + to help distract you! My bump is massive & im hoping it does show a big baby as this LO needs to be growing cos of that 2 vessel cord thing, so the bigger the better! (Remind me of that when Im pushing out a 10 lber!)

Neeko thanks for thinking of me this morning you lovely lady.. Hope you are enjoying quality time with DH & the nursery is all painted & lovely now? We DH set up the PC cupboard on sat & now its all hidden away, the what will be babys room, which was decorated last easter in anticipation & hope, is neutral beige carpet & wallpaper.. Now its an array of pink baby clothes hanging off various handles, a few cute cuddly toys & a couple of pink baby blankets & picture to match the moses! I bottled it by the way, the moses is gonna live at my mums till further notice! I did get another 20quid off though as it was the display one! So, 100quid down to 27.50! We also spent about an hour in there getting a demo on the pram we want, its gorgeous! We fell in love with it when we allowed ourselves to dare to look the first time befire xmas & its definately 'the one'! Cant believe Im talking like this!

Iggy Im so [shocked] at your mum & dads flying rigmarale! Mind you, as Ive got older my bottles gone a bit too, used to love it, now I do worry a bit, DH not keen either. I cant say Ive flown a plane but I did jump out of one once!

Right my shoulder is on fire, I must lie down! Work was ok, took in my MATB form but HR not in our office today! Am planning last day as 30th April! Felt a bit wierd filling out form, & drafting a mail to my contacts tellin them Ill be leaving/taking maternity, bit like Im counting my chicken so made me feel a bit nervous.. Think Im also bit anxious about scan next tues, this is longest Iv gone without one! A whole 4wks! Just oraying she is growing ok and her heart & kidneys are ok cos of this cord thing.. At least breaks my week up next week again & this week Im doing half days & day off on thurs for DH birthday, to break me in slowly.. I just brought him a present from baby - a magnet frame which says 'I Love My Dad' and ive put a scan pic in there!

Anyway, my whole body is collapsing, I need to lay down sooooooo much, I get a really bad pelvic bone pain (pubic bone on left side) when done too much & am wondering how the return to work will affect it. I have GP tomorrow so may mention it..

Lotsa love to all I didnt mention x x x x x

iggypiggy · 15/02/2010 15:43

MLS yes - they said it was in case one of the planes crashed and so we wouldn't be left orphaned - they had the best intentions tho!

Incidentally - my parents changed their will's on my 18th birthday to make me carer for my sisters if anything happened to both of them. Which was nicely intentioned but scared me a bit!

I flew a chipmunk (like this here a very long time ago.

barbie that is great news about your doctor!

barbie1 · 15/02/2010 14:45

mls im here and reading ....im coming to terms with a small baby now, not worried about the size was more worried about why it was so small.
My old doctor called today (the one who left dubai and came back) to check up on me and to say again how sorry she was to leave in the middle of my ante natal care, long sotry but office politics forced her out of the surgery...blah blah blah. Told her about todays appt and she reassured me that she did everything correct and she didnt see any problems in the 36 weeks she was with me, and that she had more than 25 years experience etc, she said im just a lucky lady who has small babies!

iggy brave lady flying a plane, dh wont even leave me in charge of pushing a empty pram let alone fly a plane!...

mls hope you enjoy the next 10 husband free days...thats if he got on the plane! i would be indulging in eating chocolate in bed, banning shaving of legs and other body parts and watching every single bad soap going...oh the joys of having a remote control to yourself, bliss!
Fab news on the clear blue, i have a very good feeling about this lo ...in 9 days you will have a fab scan and in 9 days i should have a 2 day old

cupcake im so used to my bump now, i think its small...until i catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror and its big! although at the hospital today a lady thought i said i was only 29 weeks, and when i said no 39 weeks she said wow what a small bump ....oh well

MummyLovesSadie · 15/02/2010 14:20

Oh my god Iggy no wonder you don't like flying!! Didn't your parents think it was a bit extreme taking separate flights?? Did they actually say to you that they were on different flights in case one flight crashed & they died? That is what they do at my dh's company, he is not allowed to fly with any of the other vp's. Also..... you flew a plane?! When? Where??

Cupcake a friend of mine (who is tall) had a really small bump in both of her pregnancies, in fact she only looked about 6 or 7 months pregnant when she was full term. Anyway both of her babies were big & the second one was about 9lb. I think it depends on how much fluid is around the baby. Every time I went to see the midwife when I was pregnant with dd they always said that they really couldn't tell the weight until the baby was born - Barbie I hope you are reading this.

cupcakefairy · 15/02/2010 13:34

Hi girls, sorry should have come back on to say 4ever is fine but yeah, she has emailed now... she was just having a chilled Valentine weekend with hubby

iggy I read that Sam Mendes and Kate Winslet always book separate flights when they go away without their kids; they're doing it to reassure themselves but I guess it probably does scaremonger their kids slightly!

MLS brilliant news that the cb digi is in line with dates... counting down those days with you. Also good news that you had a small baby! I worry cos dh and I are both tall too and my bump is massive compared to some friends with same dates but hoping for a nice 7lb-er, even though I've been eating for Britain!

barbie so glad you are a bit more chilled

iggypiggy · 15/02/2010 12:03

I have always felt uneasy about flying - but I was on a terrible flight in a thunderstorm - 4hrs long - airline staff panicking - and it tipped me over the edge from 'don't like but can tolerate flying' to 'fear of flying'

My fear is all about dying and also loss of control... It kind of stems form my parents taking separate flights in case either plane crashed when they went away for a week when we were little (I was about 11?) and I think I started to fear flying from then on..

I have flown a plane - and that is fine cos I am in control...

Am honestly alot better now - I have always managed to keep getting on planes - so maybe am not the worse phobic there is!

MummyLovesSadie · 15/02/2010 11:51

Update on 4ever she is fine, back at work. She's sent an email round to us all with a new email address for her.

Iggy did your fear come on suddenly for a reason or have you always had it?

I've just checked his flight & it's taken off..... he'd better be on it!

iggypiggy · 15/02/2010 11:40

MLS I am afraid of flying too. Am actually getting better now - but can sympathise with your DH cos there was a stage where I would insist on meeting the captain before flying... - then i would shake, refuse to eat and generally panic for the whole flight until we landed safely. Is irrational isn't it...

9 more days to scan is good. Although I think the waiting for the first scan is the longest feeling wait ever. xx

MummyLovesSadie · 15/02/2010 11:37

Barbie sending you a big hug too. What a stressful time you have had. If it is any consolation I was massive just before I gave birth, I could barely lug my massive frame about & because both dh & I are tall I assumed I was having a massive baby. I was so shocked when dd was 6lb 13oz & she has certainly made up for it since. She is much bigger than all of her friends & looks more like 3 rather than 2. 6lb is fine for a weight so please try not to worry too much about that. Also remember that you baby will put on a little bit of weight in the next week.

Dh is at the airport & I've had a very stressed text from him. I don't know if you all remember but he's developed acute anxiety about flying since dd was born. I just want him to get on that bloody plane! I've had a constant dull.... not exactly pain but a kind of pulsing sensation in my tummy all morning, I'm hoping that it's a good sign. I did my last cb digi this morning & it tied up with my dates so it means at least I'm still producing an increasing amount of hcg. I'm six weeks today & I have nine more days to my scan.

barbie1 · 15/02/2010 11:00

thanks girls, feeling better now

All booked in for 8am monday...so this time next week ill be screaming my head off in labour hopefully....

cupcake love the bump pics, just seen them....too cute!
please let us know when you hear from 4ever i too am a little worried about her

iggy forgot to congratulate you for moving onto the big pant bench, very proud of you honey!

neeko thanks for the hug...and yes you are right, the smallest baby grows we have for babies under 6lb are very cute and dont look that small at all!

x

iggypiggy · 15/02/2010 10:43

cupcake I memat to say - your bump pic is lovely - very neat

cupcakefairy · 15/02/2010 10:37

Oh barbie what a crazy week it's been for you; really really feel for you but that is so exciting that this time next week, you will be holding your little one. Glad dh is looking after you. I started having labour panics at the weekend too (and I know your situation is much more scary with the heart thing so not trying to say I know how you feel!) but keep reminding myself that my body will do what it has to. I've been in immense pain before and have got through it; I will again. Massive hugs to you.

Loving all the good feelings for the flat thanks! Will let you know the outcome on Weds. And thanks for the bump comments ha, 'serene' and 'at one'- I look more like I'm falling asleep! but it was the best dh took.

MLS you're so right it's amazing to see how far people have come on this thread. It will be you in a few months' time your 10 days of tv and food sounds amazing, enjoy!

I'm gonna text 4ever now, bit unusual for her not to be on this long

iggypiggy · 15/02/2010 10:36

barbie also dropping in for quick hug of barbieweeble - and just one week to go!! If it helps - a friend of mine had a 5lb baby and he is fine

Big waves to everyone else!

Neeko · 15/02/2010 10:33

Flying visit to send Barbie a huge hug. 6lbs is not too small and baby will be fine. In a week you'll be able to obsessively check see for yourself. hang on, the end is nigh!

barbie1 · 15/02/2010 07:37

The weeble is back...

FIrstly im saying sorry in advance because this is going to be a very me me me post

Ok...so my week went like this....posted and said how confident i am about everything, not worried about heart, labour, dates etc. That night broke down and worried about everything

Dh watched the channel 4 programme about labour and i hid upstairs with a book for the evening, but could still hear the screams etc and spent the whole evening crying my eyes out, worried about labour, my heart etc etc.

Went for scan today and baby is very small, no bigger than 6lbs, in fact the measurements indicate a 34week pregnancy not a 40 week one. The doctor was great though and listened to me as i explained the whole bleeding thing and bfp date. He agreed that i couldnt be any less then i thought and moved my due date by just one day to the 19th....he just said the baby was small all over and nothing stood out that was in any way an odd growth.

Nest i was sent to my doctor who said as we havent seen the baby growth chart since 20 weeks she was concerned that the growth in fact could of slowed down from the last records she had from the last scan (20week) where the baby was on target. So she decided not to risk things and has booked me in for an induction....she wants it done on thursday but im waiting for confirmation and she thinks it might have to be sunday at the earliest due to space issues.

I had a sweep.

So now i know baby barbie will be here this time next week...i do not know why it is small and so im going to wobble and weeble until i meet this little one.

I cant have pessaries due to the reaction i had while having my mmc (very bad) will have to be wired up to a drip with a drug to induce contrations, along with my heart monitor.

I run a high risk of having to have a c section.....but apart from all this im ok

mls glad you are getting stretching pains, all good signs of a little healthy bean. I missed when you said your first scan was?

cupcake i have everything crossed that you like the next house, and that you are planning where to put the cot as i type!

neeko i bet your nursery is looking fab...I really cant even remember if you have started mat leave yet (sorry my head is all over the place!) oh and i went swimming a few times this weekend and thought of you

Cupcake just do as i did and buy the seperates from topshop and make your own tankini! I ended up buying big pants and a string top but both in bigger sizes, and as you grow you can just buy the top/bottom that you have grown out off, cheap too

curly nice to see you pop on and posting updates, ill be joining you in a few days

gg how is babygracie? i hope you are enjoying being a yummy mummy

4ever are you ok hon??? missing your postings!

I know there are many more of you to speak with, however i have to rest a little...i will be back and keep you updated

Big hugs to you all xxx

barbie1 · 15/02/2010 04:02

Sorry not been on so much....i have had major wobbles re this scan 59 minutes and counting!

I have tried to say away from the computer for as long as possible over the weekend, had so many heart palputations that i lost count, so dh stayed home yesterday to look after me...

So i promise i will be back in a few hours with an update and dh has promised to go to work so i can mn without him here

Love to all xxx

MummyLovesSadie · 14/02/2010 21:03

Neeko lol at you thinking you'd have to feed dd on the floor out shopping! How is the nursery looking now?

Cupcake I have a good feeling about the flat you are going to see. I just know that you are going to get the one that you love the most. Love your bump pic, you look very 'at one'. When I look at everyone's bump pic on the thread & think back to how each of you were a few months ago & I'd love for you all back then to have been able to see yourself as you are now.

Moon cramping is such a good sign! Did you check out that obsessive symptom spotting website I linked to a couple of weeks ago?

Barbie keep us all informed won't you!

LBM liking the idea of a 30min second labour, yes please I'll have some of that! There is a really good children's play-area in Princes Street Gardens which are the gardens nestled at the bottom of the castle, opposite the shops.

Jools glad you got your bag back, was it intact?

Lion my dd isn't blessed in the hair department either, it's lovely & curly but she is 2 years 4 months, has never had a haircut & it barely reaches her ears! V. jealous of Neeko as her dd has hair right down her back!

Blue glad you are refreshed after your amazingly long lie-in. I'd be happy with a lie-in until 7.30.

Well more stretching pains for me today. I find it really uncomfortable to have anything tight across my tummy. I tried wearing my maternity leggings today but ended up having to keep pulling them up all day! Dh flies out to Chicago tomorrow morning for 10 days so for me that's 10 days of watching all the things I've Sky plussed for the last umpteen months & eating whatever I fancy! I have my 7 week scan the day before he gets home.... all I keep thinking is that I've never seen a printer attached to the scan machine in the epu in all the many many many many times I've been there!

Neeko · 14/02/2010 18:56

Hi all and happy Vaentine's day to you.

Cupcake Lovely pictures. What a beautiful bump you have. I have a really good feeling about this ground floor flat.

Blue You sound really chilled after your long lie. Well done on the 6oz too. Glad you exorcised some demons with B's birth but I'd still rather not go there.

LBM Hope you have a fab time in Edinburgh. Stuck my fingers in my ears to avoid listening to how fast your DS's birth was I'm also much more tired this time round, yet can't sleep when I am in bed - typical.

Moon Glad to know you're still with us. to CD19 but also have my fingers and toes crossed.

MLS Hope you have a lovely Valentine's at home and DH gets away ok. By the time he comes back you'll have a pic of your LO

Barbie Hop[e you're feeling super-chilled or in labour!

Curly well done for you for finding the time to post. I'm sure you'll find the feeding easier as time goes by but as others have said don't beat yourself up if you don't. When I left hospital I could only feed DD lying down and had visions of me having to lie on the floor in Debehams etc when I was out and about!!

Mermaid/Jools/4ever You've all gone quiet. Hope you're ok. xx
