Hi girls,

Didn't get on at all yesterday - not even to lurk boys keeping me busy, busy, busy . DS1 is at nusery today and bennyboy is sleeping for hopefully a long time as he has just fed for one hour - yes one hour solid!

So to cath up:

Gracie - v. common for them to prefer one side to begin with. Benjamin was all over my right boob but took ages to latch on left, it was sorer so I think my tensing up didn't help. As the others have said, persevere as it will get easier and little Isabelle will get used to both and you don't have to epxress and dump ! So relate to not having time to express/sterelise etc. I actually expressed in the kitchen this morning whilst easting my museli as it was the only time I had today (well I could be doing it now but MN time is medicinal). You could post a question in 'breast and bottle' feeding - tiktok is the resident bf expert and will have some good tips I'm sure. at your non appearing HV - grrr! Oh and almost forget to say great birth story - one I could only dream of...

Loved 'One born every minute' on Tues, especially the 20 year old Mum telling her very strongly to pull herself together and stop making a fool of herself

Barbie - I am getting SO excited for you!!! LOL at the comedy show laughing your lo into the world. This time next week you WILL be a Mummy - yay!!

4ever - big hug for bittersweet DH b'day and remember your second lost lo. This time next year he will have a 'to my daddy' b'day card on the mantlepiece! I have the same pram system as you (M&P Ultimo) albeit in navy from 2006 and its fab. Only thing I would say is get a wee head hugger insert for car seat as its quite upright and their heads can flop to side. I got a gorgeous velvety soft one from Blooming Marvellous for £18...

cupcake - on you behalf honey for flat rental - grrr. Anything on the horizon?

Vjay - LOVING that photo of Ajay - quite the yojng man . Great to hear the christening went well. I need to phone the vicar about B's - thinking 25th April...

Annie - lovely to hear form you and glad little E is sleeping better. Ben tends to cat nap during the day although I - fingers crossed - get one long 2 hours stretch from him but it still up twice during th enight. Last night was longest he went from 8.30pm to 2am!

MLS - feeling so positive and excited for you and this lo. Keep hugging the wheaten bag! Don't need to ask you if you'll be watching 'enders tonight .

Neeko - happy last day at work for ages and ages - are you going to attempt a wee heel click as you leave or is your centre of gravity to far off for that these days .

Iggy - are you thinking of using the hypnotherapy tapes?

Moon - metallic taste is v.v. good sign....

Hi to everyone else, really need to go and dust the living room while B is still sleeping. The housework just never ends does it -

Apologies in advance for spelling!

Hello Iggy! Well I listened to the Natal Hypnotherapy CDs I bought from ebay about 10 times but generally fell asleep whilst listening to them! The way the CDs taught me to relax was quite useful and the breathing from antenatal classes. Staying calm is definately the way forward, my most painful bit was the drive to the hospital as I was on edge, luckily only had 1 contraction in the car as we live only a few mins from the hospital. The gas & air is good for reminding you about how to breathe deep and slow.

I got out of bed (whilst Isabelle was sleeping), showered and tidied up for a 9am health visitor appointment, I've just rang them to find out where she is and apparently she's been off sick since wednesday but no one thought to tell me!

anniebigpants · 19/02/2010 12:01

4ever sweetie, sending you a big hug, i can feel your panic from here, bless you. Glad you got through yesterday and DH had a nice birthday, my lart mc was on my DH,s birthday too (or should i say the day we found out id had a MMC was) so this year i was desperate we should have a lovely day on his birthday and we went for a meal with close friends and had a lovely time, but i couldnt stop thinking of how different it was a year ago.
Re the leaking fluid, amnio fluid is straw coloured or has a pinky tinge, as Barbie says it smells sweet, its much more likely to be discharge which can get very watery.
Thinking of you for Mondays scan XX

Cupcake-Yes, start buying now, you can never be too prepared. I would try and make a start on your hospital bag too when you get to 30ish weeks.
I used to get terrible leg cramps when i was pregnant too, and yes like your DH, mine used to jump up in fright thinking id gone into labour as i was jumping around the bed screaming

MLS-Yeyy for feeling sick!! Those wheat pads are great, i used them on my bad back when i was pregnant, i also used to warm one up when i was feeding Ellis when he was newborn and warm his crib mattress with it.

Barbie-You could be having contractions, i had a run of contractions in the days leading up to my labour. Even when i got to hospital the contractions were no more uncomfortable than period pains, and the mw was astonished to see i was 6cm dilated as i 'looked far too calm and comfortable'-lol! I got to 8cm dilated with no pain relief apart from the Tens machine, then unfortunately got carted off for a CS due to DS2 being in awkward position and previous CS scar showing signs of rupturing
Are you all sorted now, everything in your hospital bags?

iggypiggy · 19/02/2010 11:36

gracie I had a question for you

Did you do hypnobirthing in the end??

GracieGirl · 19/02/2010 11:00

Barbie send an email to [email protected] then I'll have your email - I'm avoiding Facebook for a bit.

GracieGirl · 19/02/2010 10:55

Barbie I'll send all the numbers and emails that I have to you at some point today when Isabelle lets me.

cupcakefairy · 19/02/2010 10:52

Ooh and forgot blue - that pic of Ben is just SCRUMMY! He is beautiful.
By the way I have now watched 4 eps of Grey's and loving it so far

cupcakefairy · 19/02/2010 10:51

Morning girls.
Barbie if you're facebook friends with some of the girls message them your email and they can send you the list of all our numbers. Hoping baby arrives this weekend!!

annie lovely to see you and so glad the sleeping is better

curly hiiii! I love hearing/reading you all gooey over your little girl she must be so precious.

moon bless you, I didn't think you were being dismissive at all! Just encouraging, thank you

gracie awww that did make me giggle a bit that Isabelle just stares at you when you put her on the left boob really hope that improves for you and well done on the feeding every 1-2 hours! Superwoman.

Vjay so glad the christening went well and Ajay looks GORGEOUS!! I'm with mermaid about the santa pic though...that is definitely one to blow up huge for his 18th birthday I just adore it.

Neeko yaaaaay for your final day!

MLS yay for all the symptoms!! Less than a week til scan too...hope you're feeling ok about it all.

Monkey has disappeared...hope you're ok if you're lurking, still praying for you

4ever glad you got through the birthday but to annoying relatives again! Thinking of you for Tuesday's scan but sure everything will be just fine. By the way, I wake in the morning with terrible pain in ribs, I guess they get strained somehow in the night. And also yesterday morning woken at 5am with awful cramp in calf...huffed and puffed my way through it so as not to wake dh and then at 6am it happened in the other leg!! I yelled out in pain and poor dh thought I was giving birth haha. So yes, I'm sure it's all normal symptoms.

We went out last night with some friends, inc the one due the same day as me and we just talked babies all evening...she scared me slightly though with stories of her first being 3 weeks early. I should really buy some baby stuff

barbie1 · 19/02/2010 08:58

Aww 4everweeble here is a hug...sorry i cant get too close, the bump is in the way
Totally normal having wobbles...im still concerned re size of this lo (and yes i know 5 to 6 lb isnt too small but for a full term baby it is occurding to the doctors )..and if i dont feel movements for at least half an hour im pushing the poor little thing around trying to wake it up im sure its just trying to sleep to save some energy for monday!

As for the amnio fluid, the nurse told me to were a pad and sniff if its meant to smell really sweet if your fluid is leaking, oh and discharge normally becomes watery and free flowing at night, something about the way we lay....cant remember what excatly now

I have only a few numbers, how can i get everyones emails without putting my email address on here???

Im having a few pains, nothing like im thinking a contraction would be.....didnt go to the comedy club last night as just a little uncomfortable.

Still 2 days to get this baby out on my own, im off for a swim...ill be back later to catch up x

LBM how you doing buddy? Is RL keeping you v busy? x

Iggy I also got a bit obsessed wih buying mat clothes! I have loads! Had to draw a line under it as realised only another 3months of wearing them, there is next time though! Think it compensates for being too scared to buy baby stuff, its a compromise, however now have started getting a few baby bits def no more clothes for me! I still hold my breath and get butterflies as I walk to till with any baby purchase tho! x

Thanks for all the birthday greetings for DH yesterday! I spoilt him rotten, and we had a nice time at our mums & a lovely meal, even though it left me so squashed & uncomfortable! I did feel a bit of anxiety to 'just get though the day' after his 30th birthday 2yrs back, having that awful scan & finding out we lost our 2nd baby.. I kept feeling desperate to feel movement & getting a bit panicy.. Then my great aunt called at 9.30pm, (late for us! ) when we'd not long been in & were settling to watch Enders on sky+, to say about this woman onthe news, who had 18 MC and had this 'pioneering' treatment at one of our local hospitals, she was telling DH it was the same treatment we had.. its all over the press today (& yest I think, & same surname as us!).. Anyway, nice of her to think of us, but it isnt the same treatment we had, we got tested for the same thing, Natural Killer cells, privately about this time last year after losing 4th baby.. So although, well meaning, was a bit annoyed she called on his birthday to discuss MC when we were really trying hard to not think of it & be positive & not rehash old memories, and.. she didnt even wish him Happy Birthday! She had sent a card to be fair, but as he gently tried to get off the phone by saying 'actually we just walked through the door after having a meal out for my birthday' she still didnt say anything! We just didnt really want to hear about that right then... We lit the babys candles in the afternoon, but I really was fighting my anxiety all day as it was, and just praying we got through his birthday without something bad happening .

I then spent half the night awake, initially unable to get comfortable & aching all over with terrible rib pain, indigestion & leg cramps, which rational head said are normal symptoms, but irrational weeble was becoming increasingly anxious about, then every time I rolled over, I was leaking a bit, tmi but literally dribbling down leg, so had to keep going loo, this happened several times & kept praying its not leaking amnio fluid, as was very clear...? Anyway all this anxiety accentuated by upcoming scan on tuesday which Im crapping myself about, its been 4 weeks since we had one.. This is to check growth cos of the 2 vessel cord.. Im praying they wont spot one of the associated heart or kidney problems, that she is growing ok, that my amnio fluid isnt leaking & cervix is closed, and on last scan report it does also say to recheck uterine artery flow, which I noticed was alot lower than the previous time it was measured, and where all her growth was top of the scales (95th percentile?) the uterine flow was only thing at very bottom of scale (5th percentile?)..

All this anxiety & weebling has resulted in me just sobbing down the phone to DH just now, as I really tried to hold it all in yesterday for his birthday.. He was lovely as always, & said very practically we must just try not to worry about scan til monday night, tho as we all know, easier said than done!

Anyway, sorry for weeble ramble girls, really needed to vent after my little sobfest, have decided not to go to work today as Im in wrap me up in cotton wool mode & need to stay still & quiet in bed, & hopefully get some more sleep! xxxxx

MummyLovesSadie · 18/02/2010 23:02

Gracie sorry I can't help much but probably perseverance is the key, Vjay no idea what's happening with your log on/offs, Neeko one more day of your prison sentence left to go, Annie good to see you back.

Just a brief one to say speak to you all on Sunday as I'm off to my parents tomorrow morning. Also have a wheat-bag on my tummy for the stretching pains which are still pretty full-on & have been feeling majorly sick tonight which is a first for me - happy days!

VJay · 18/02/2010 16:43

hi gracie Ajay didn't like my left side, though not as bad as Isabelle, as he would latch on and feed, just not as good as the right side. All I can say is that it did eventually settle down and he feeds of both sides no bother now. She might be coming round to feeding on the left if she did the last two mornings, who knows. Not very helpful I know

neeko I've never logged out before, so have never seen the short pages before, but now for some reason whenever I disapear it logs me off

Hi annie lovely long post

GracieGirl · 18/02/2010 16:23

Hello again! Isabelle is sleeping so I thought I'd come and lurk. Quick question for the experts. Breastfeeding, on the whole its going well. After initial weight loss down to 6lb 10oz on day 5, Isabelle was weighed again on day 11 and was 7lb 5oz (Yippee! Proud Mum ). My problem is she just doesn't like the left nipple. In my 4 days in hospital it felt like every midwife in the country had a go and she wouldn't latch. Also saw a breast feeding nurse specialist who couldn't get her to latch either. Right side works perfectly. So I've been hand expressing from left side and throwing it away (sshhh don't tell the midwife! I can't be bothered to get a steriliser and sterilise pots so I can freeze it - I'm feeding every 1-2 hours I don't have time! ). We've tried lying down, cradle hold and rugby ball positions and she's having none of it! She just puts her mouth round it and looks at me quietly for about 2 mins then starts to cry - my heart melts and I let her get her own way!

My right boob is now twice the size of my left, which actually might start to bother me once I venture out much.

Whats a bit strange is the last 2 mornings at 9am she's fed from left breast, but then refuses the rest of the time.

Any tips???

anniebigpants · 18/02/2010 15:11
