hope you feel better soon bebe.

i have also got my folic acid though OH has said i really dont need them yet so to keep they peace we have compromised and i will start them on aug 1st!!!

they are just sitting by my bed for now!!!

JustShaggingForNow · 21/07/2010 14:22

Really sorry to hear you're feeling so crap bebe. I am pretty sure that Zinc helps with being run down so your DH will never know the real reason you're force feeding encouraging him to take it. I played the same trick did the same with mine and he now takes it religiously!!!

I just popped into Holland & Barrett on my lunchbreak to get something to help my IBS and ended up buying some folic acid too...... so much for not thinking about pregnancy! I bought a bottle of 250 pills and was wondering how long they'd last me so checked up and it's only 230 days until we are planning to TTC!! That made me smile! So by the time I have finished the bottle of pills I should be SWI. Judging by what everyone in here has said, some of you may even be pregnant by then (and I'll be here drinking virtual cocktails by myself!!!)

PigletJustUs · 21/07/2010 13:58

I know what you mean about the filming thing. My job means that I'm one of the (I would imagine, many) people OBEM and similar approach asking about case studies - most people I talk to seem to agree with us! I don't even really want my DH there, though would feel a bit mean completely banning him if he really wants to see it.

I've nagged talked him into going for a fertility test tomorrow, which is a big step forward after months of putting it off. Probably seems weird when we're not even TTC yet, but he has a varicocele so I want to be prepared if we're likely to have trouble.

Sorry to hear you're poorly bebe - are you able to take it a bit easy the next few days? Obviously not easy with a LO.

bebejones · 21/07/2010 13:32

Glad it's not just me that doesn't get the whole picture taking/filming thing! I wouldn't show anyone & would never want my child to see it either!!

Feeling really run down at the moment, had a sore throat for nearly 3 weeks & now started getting mouth ulcers as well. Just don't get it, I take multivits and iron & other stuff every day & have a healthy diet (most of the time). DH reckons it's MS related think I'm just gonna have to ring the doctors! More prodding & poking!

Managed to talk DH into taking zinc tablets, conned him by saying that they would help him feel less tired...well they might?! Just need to get some now & force feed gently remind him to take them!

My DH was planning to stay by my head the whole time too, then the midwife somehow managed to have him holding one of my feet most of the time! It was probably just as well because I think after hearing 'Just one more push' for about the umpteenth time I was fair ready to punch someone!

Wouldn't be doing it with a camera of any description in the room though. I don't get taking pic for the album, let alone for the whole world to see!

bebejones · 21/07/2010 12:21

My DH had strict instructions to stay near my head!!! As it happened he couldn't come with me when I went into theatre as they had no scrubs big enough for him My mum came in with me, which was weird coz I had been adament I didn't want her in with me when I gave birth & she had always left the room when I was beinge examined. But I just didn't want to be on my own IYSWIM, and she was lovely...and stayed by my head! But a camera crew would be awful don't even understand people who video it, I wouldn't want to show it to anyone!

OP posts:
JustShaggingForNow · 21/07/2010 12:00

Me either - I'm not really sure that I even want my DH watching me when I get around to giving birth so there is no way I'd welcome in a TV crew! Ugh!!

bebejones · 21/07/2010 11:45

Ooops! I do stuff like that too! My DH would prob go mental if he found them in my basket! He was using my account by accident the other day so maybe I should take them out!

The knuckle I broke on DH was one he had broken already years ago so it was weakened, so not that impressive!

I definately wouldn't be volunteering for OBEM! I'm far too uptight and 'British' for that sort of thing!

My books and OV sticks from Amazon arrived today. The temptation to get the book out and start reading it over lunch is very strong but am guessing it might not be such a good idea in an office full of men!!!

nannyl · 21/07/2010 11:41

lol

OH commented on my ebay bought / watching list

It is basically:
OV tests, conception fertility books and basal thermometer, watching a million and one CBFM and condoms lol!!!

he said everything to try and GET pregnant as well as contraception!!!!

JustShaggingForNow · 21/07/2010 09:28

Ooooops AC!! That sound like the kind of thing I'd do!

AmandaCooper · 21/07/2010 08:55

Bebe I was also window shopping on Amazon the other day and put TCOYF and a bumper pack of OV sticks in my shopping basket but didn't buy them. Last night DH is on the laptop and he goes "what's this??". I'd only put them in his Amazon shopping basket by mistake lol.

AmandaCooper · 21/07/2010 08:49

No wonder your DH isn't keen Bebe! That's impressive!

Apparently the producers of OBEM are looking for women to take part in the next series, my friend was asked at her 20 week scan but declined. Who would agree to go on there and be filmed I want to know. Imagine the whole country sitting having tea and watching you in labour and commenting on your attitude and your pain tolerance and your relationship with your DP.

JustShaggingForNow · 20/07/2010 22:19

Oh poor you BBJ. I've been stuck home alone trying to amuse myself as DH has yet another late night at work. Very dull indeed and a lot of crap TV has been watched! Did anybody see the botched tummy tuck on the cosmetic surgery program with Dr Christian? Ugh!!!

bebejones · 20/07/2010 21:03

Looked into it & I think less than 20% of births are c-sections but that includes planned c sections too. So really can't be as common as OBEM seemed to make out. It was a shame that they didn't show more low intervention births think there was only about 2mins of a water birth in the whole series!

Feeling mega mega broody this evening despite DD having been a PITA today. Poor little thing has yet another cold

OP posts:
NoMoreChocBiscuits · 20/07/2010 14:23

Hmm this is attempt 4 to type a reply (seem to have a dodgey connection). Will leave out the birth and c section stuff (although, that was a fine effort by you BBJ!)

Just put DSs bedding in the wash and sure enough his mattress protector is a hippy chick one. It came with his cot so never paid much attention to the brand. It's brilliant though.

bebejones · 20/07/2010 13:06

lol at the thought of us all syncronised bombing off the high board!

I remember squeezing DHs hand during a contraction, feeling & hearing it crack & still squeezing then when the contraction finished asking him if I had made his hand crack! No idea if he made any noise or not was in my own little bubble.

OP posts:
JustShaggingForNow · 20/07/2010 12:34

Wow! breaking DH's knuckle is an impressive display of strength there!!

Thinking it might be fun to all jump together - top bombing!!!!!

bebejones · 20/07/2010 11:44

JS - I know a few people that ended up having emergency sections. I was close to having one & had signed the consent form but thankfully they managed to get DD with forceps, she was just being awkward! Think the reasons for em-sections are quite varied though, guess it's just one of those things if they need to get the baby out in the quickest safest way they do it like that. Wouldn't say it was that common though.

It wasn't just the girls that needed slapping, sometimes the dads needed one too! One of the girls in particular I actually wanted to throttle, but one of the youngest ones on there was fantastic & coped way better than I did! Although I have to say I didn't swear once through my whole labour....very unlike me! But I did break DHs knuckle!

Biscuits - love the idea of pushing DH off the diving board!
Think I'll push mine, then jump, close my eyes and hope for the best!

OP posts:
JustShaggingForNow · 20/07/2010 10:37

I have to confess that I also had strong urges to slap the girls - so many of them were so young!! Hoping that when i get to that stage I won't be the one crying that I can;t do it.......... have a feeling I might be though!

Quick question for the ladies that already have a DC - on OBEM there seemed to be a lot of emercency sections, is this normal??

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 20/07/2010 10:23

Oh can't think of anything worse than watching the whole series of On Born Every Minute. I saw one or two episodes and just wanted to take those whinging whining girls out the back and slap them. Possibly because they reminded me of me whilst giving birth and probably because I was still deep in having to make myself deny I desperately want DC2.

Liking the diving analogy too AC. To bad we can't just sneak up behind our DH and push him off sometimes (hm wait, actually I think that's exactly what I have done to mine!).

Hehe, think I was in denial about the whole birth thing right up until it happened! The great thing about the female mind is that it's progammed to forget about the pain of child birth after it's all happened. also biologically females don't feel pain as badly as men (hence the man flu), so our DHs will always think birth is worse than the reality of it.

JustShaggingForNow · 20/07/2010 09:36

Oh - I actually quite liked diving at school but am not enjoying this......

Also a big fan of One Born Every Minute. I held off watchign it when it first cam out as I was trying to deny the broody feelings but then I watched it back to back on 4OD one day when I was off work sick..... I thought it would really put me off but no chance, evidently I really have thought about everything and still want to get PG!

bebejones · 20/07/2010 09:08

ooops shopping basket not chopping basket!

Also have to say how much I loved One Born Every Minute, wish it was on all the time!

OP posts:
bebejones · 20/07/2010 09:07

JS - I was looking at the OV sticks on amazon yesterday & thinking about buying them. Think I will wait til after the weekend & 'the talk' with DH though. Have added them to my chopping basket already though!

AC - very good analogy! I never even considered that I would have to actually give birth when I got PG. In fact I was in denial about the whole process until about 6 months & then suddenly completely freaked out by which point it was too late!! Sometimes not thinking & just doing is absolutely the right thing to do!

FWIW I hate diving boards & used to have to shut my eyes when we did diving at school!!
